I can testify that Dan does his filming alone for his amazing documentaries. When my husband and I surprisingly encountered Dan at Fountains Abbey last September he was indeed filming alone. Dan, you were so gracious when we interrupted you but I immediately asked where Kay was because I was convinced that you must have filmed together. You do such a fabulous job.
So many congratulations on being with us for almost 10 YEARS. You bring so uch pleasant company and stimulate creativity on each episode. My husband and I LOVE your hikes and historic presentations. I enjoy all the knitting updates. And we are fascinated by the English cooking....always looks so delicious. Very fun to have your daughter grow up with us over the years too. Best wishes to her in her next schooling adventures. THank you both for your dedication. PS: Great new socks.
My daughter is in her first year at uni and I can totally relate to how you are feeling Kay. Enjoy the time you have with her as it is VERY strange when she goes. The worse thing is the day you take her, be prepared to cry most if not all the way home and feel sad, it’s normal. I still feel a bit lost some days , but embrace my new found ‘freedom’ and prepare for the whirlwind when she does return. She, on the other hand, is living her best life with new friends that understand her and thanks to face time we ‘see’ her for a chat at least once a week and pick up where we left off. It is a fabulous stage in life for them and a proud, if a bit sad, stage for us. Good luck with it all and take plenty of tissues😢😊x
I'm shocked! I thought Dan was a documentarian by day and a podcaster on the side. The production values are extraordinary. I am really enjoying the knitting, baking and history lessons all done up in one. (And I am off to the grocery store for the ingredients first thing in the morning!)
Growing up, we always had hot crossed buns at easter - and the crosses were made of frosting. So delicious! (And here in America, we do love our sweets!)
I have to say: I stumbled across your show last year, and I have been loving it ever since. So much so, that I started watching from the beginning. Kay’s knits have always been so beautiful, and it has been really fun to see how Dan’s knitting has evolved and grown. Contemplating if I can become a patron. But not matter what, thank you for such fabulous content!
you guys are just to cute. i am going to try the buns i love to bake with yeast and the orange i can't wait. i also know how you feel about your child leaving i remember my oldest boy leaving not to college but with a girl to live somewhere else i thought i was going to die but you do get over it and it is so nice when they come home i love your shows so keep up the great work and i can't wait until the next show thank you guys
Kay, my sentiment when my first 2 kids went off to uni was the same as you…if they are excited, I’m excited as well! For me the adjustment wasn’t as bad as some mom’s experience. It’s such a wonderful stage of life for them (in fact one is studying abroad in London-we are American-and loving every single minute)!
Aww watching Kay baking reminds me of my mother baking 😊 can’t wait for castle nation as I history 😊I love that your daughter is book lover as your right young people don’t do book, I have always loved books too and when I buy a new book I love the smell as it also reminds me of my childhood as book were a big part of our growing up at school and home.. nothing nicer than getting lost in a good book 😊😊😊
I love your scarf Kay. Thanks for another wonderful episode and all the wonderful work you do. Congratulations on it being nearly 10 years. I'm definitely a paper book reader and a member of my local library. My husband listens to audiobooks and says it helps him sleep
Hi Kay and Dan looking forward to your new sock pattern to come out they are very squishy and I do look like a quilt half triangles. . Thank you for your video’s 💐🧶🧶✂️🧦 the scrappy quilt sock pattern. I think I’ve got it right thanks Kay, looking forward to seeing you at May hopefully
Oh Kay. I honestly thought you couldn’t produce a sock pattern I liked better than all the ones you’ve written BUT this new one is just gorgeous. I CANNOT WAIT for this to be released. May 8 can’t come soon enough.
Hello there! Happy Patreon viewer here 😊I cannot wait to knit that new sock pattern! WOW! I pretty much knit your sock patterns exclusively because I know they will be perfect every time and that you wouldn’t publish them if they were anything but that. I promote your patterns on our podcast as well! I can’t wait until May 8th! - Mallory
It's so interesting! I live in the U.S. and I _have_ made hot cross buns. However, I put the wash on *before* baking. And I pipe the icing *after* the baking. I love that you use Spelt flour! I try to limit wheat flour, so I will have to try this!
shorties in Flamingo pink! The loaf looks delicious, I ordered the same spices, so we'll have the same flavors. My husband is a tad skinny right now too heheheh. Hugs and 😘
Love the Scrappy Quilt socks. I have several 10g mini skeins. Will mini skeins be enough for both socks, for the 3rd pair? I am a quilter and knitter, but I'm new to sock knitting. Looking forward to getting the pattern ❤ PS I've just downloaded Imogen Martin's book too lol
Hello from Australia. I love the Winter at Pemberley Cowl, but can't find the pattern on your website. Could you please provide a link or details. It is just gorgeous!
Ha! Love y’all’s comment about Bryony sleeping on the kitchen floor… I live in a three-bedroom home and one bedroom that has two full-size beds - one intended for each of my sons (33 and 28), who are now married with children, living either four or eight hours away from me - which means that the room rarely gets used if even one time a year! Hey, but when one of them come, that room is overloaded!
The sweater (jumper) Dan is making for you is beautiful. Not sure if you have seen Earthtones Girl is doing a reading/sock knitting KAL #ilovebooksandsockknittingkal24
Real books ROCK! I do have a Kindle, but find it too easy to accidentally turn extra pages. Ugh! And Audio books are nice when knitting, but I’ve learned not to listen in bed. I’ve accidentally missed chapters by falling asleep and having no idea where I’d done so! Yikes.
It is a parents job to embarrass and drive them insane!!! After all, they do it to us. Turn around is fair play! We have a family member who tested negative for Celiac disease but can't tolerate wheat or spelt. He makes things very challenging in the baking department. Is it my imagination or do you have some gold and some stainless kitchen drawer/cabinet door pulls?

I’ve used a couple of Kay’s recipes. They both turned out great. Loved them
Thoroughly enjoyed this and I am inspired to bake a hot cross bun loaf!

Bakery Bears is by far my favorite podcast.
Mine too
Adore your new sock pattern Kay - looking forward to knitting them 💕

All the makes look fantastic, including the loaf.

Really enjoy your videos and history bits 🌞

Hi from South Australia. You were the first knitting podcast I started watching. I've been watching for nine yeats
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Ha! Love the Elf reference Dan!
That loaf looks yummy. For me as a chocolate fan, I would melt a marshmallows Easter egg on top.

Watching older episodes as I've caught up on current ones. You guys are officially my favorites!
On the station wagon topic, I recommend the Mobituaries podcast episode titled “The Station Wagon: Death of a Leviathan”.
Can’t wait to cast on the POP socks!
What pattern is your cowl? I looked but didn’t see it on your Ravelry project page
How about a corn “stalk”? You two are so funny and such a cute couple 😅
My dad still buys me a Easter egg and I’m in my 50’s 😊
Where can I find the Winter at Pemberly Cowl? I’ve tried Ralvery but no luck.
Is Mixed Spice the same thing as Allspice, here in Canada? Thanks.
📍ooooouuuuuu, you lovely two. Are you sure to have count every new cast-on????
🤓 What about your daughter's shawl???? 😂😂😂
Love what you are doing!

Stalk of Corn...:)
What is the name of the cowl that you are wearing?
It’s not a pattern as such, just something I improvised ❤ I knit it using an advent calendar I dyed a couple of years ago 💓
