Oh wow the classic looks amazing! That combo is so good, never would have picked it but it’s gorgeous. Makes my mind wander with unusual potential combos …. might be good for thought as I drift to sleep at night 🙊 thanks for sharing 🥰
Great to find a Friend's video today! I mostly knit gifts, but not for the holidays and only for the knit-worthiest. I love how you worked with the color variation on the cuffs and him of your Classic. Perfectly done.
Such a treat to see your video pop up! You have such a special talent with making even your troublesome knits exquisitely beautiful. Every time you talk about encountering a problem of some kind, whether as in this case, mismatched hand dyed skeins, or yarn chicken orchestrations, your knits always look so perfectly finished.
Leslie, your Classic sweater looks fantastic! When you stood up and I saw what the darker yarn looked like on the ribbing, It looked wonderful! It just looks so beautiful, intentional, and artistic, an intentional fade. Nice job!
Hi friend! I think it has taken me a while to realize what actually fits into my wardrobe! I used to make all of the most popular patterns but a lot of the time would never wear them. Now I am much more purposeful! Happy knitting friend! And thank you for the visit!❤️
Love, love, the darker color on the ribbing of the sweater! I made a pair of Beatrice Mitts in a cashmere blend to give a friend for Christmas. Finished my BeThankful Cardigan for my daughter and she loves it. I am excited to see the pattern for the vest soon. You always inspire me to knit more.
Oh yay!!! Thank you!!! And wow! Those Beatrice mitts must be lovely! 💖 the be thankful cardi is so great! My daughter still wears hers. 💖 happy knitting friend!!!😘
Beautiful knits, Leslie! I appreciate the technical details you always include in your episodes. I bought the “Memory Lane” book too and am excited to see what you knit from it and how you style them! ❤
What a great episode, Leslie. I made the Classic a few years ago, but have to say the color is a bit strong for me. I am inspired by your color choice and will consider another classic along the lines of yours. My hair has gone from blonde(dyed, of course) to almost white and the colors that make me feel most comfortable have changed. Still figuring it out. So glad you went to Loop London. I haven't been to Beautiful Knitter and will next time I make it to London. Thanks for taking the time to record for our viewing pleasure.
Hi Janet! Oh yes! You get to embrace your new coloring and try colors you haven’t before! Sounds like fun! Thank you so much for the visit! Happy knitting friend!❤️🩷
Hi Leslie. Love seeing a new episode. Your knits are always inspiring and I'm looking forward to knitting your new vest pattern. I hope you have a good couple of weeks. I'm currently working on getting some long standing wips off the needles so that December can be s new cast on. I don't do a lot of gift knitting but I love to take December as a month where I just cast on something that makes me happy.
Awe. That is the best plan Sharon! Something that makes you happy in December. ❤️❤️❤️ Enjoy our knitting so that we can enjoy the other things as well! ( I have stressed myself out before with too many projects for others…. With age comes wisdom!😀) Happy knitting friend!❤️
Leslie, I’m so excited to hear you be releasing a video in December guiding those that are knitting your vest pattern. My lovely niece Is an Air Force Captain stationed in Germany. I am trying to guide her in selecting a vest or tank pattern for a very beginner knitter. A video would be wonderful to give her a little guidance. Her experience level…she has made a dishcloth.😁All the best to you.❤️ Andrea from Ohio.
Ahhhh! Andrea! That makes me so happy and wow I'd be honored if I could help a new knitter make a garment! Especially someone who is serving our country! Please thank her for her service for me! Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
Thank you Leslie for your sweet reply. I took a screenshot and texted it to my niece. She also watched your video and loves the sweater you’re wearing. A correction to my original comment, Rachel is completing her fifth dishcloth and is excited about trying her hand with your vest pattern. I’ll help her watch for the release. Thank you again, Andrea🥰
Hi Leslie. It’s so nice to sit and knit with you again and hear about your projects and travels. I hope you are enjoying your sweater WIP and look forward to seeing it when it’s done. HUGS my friend. 🤗
I love your classic sweater!! I think the combination of yarns really gives it a special, stylish look. Also, I recently switched to continental knitting and love it, but have the same issue where I can't look up as easily.
Its always a delight to watch you Leslie! Always inspiring and always filled with ideas to knit. I love silk mohair but I prefer the highest silk content - so I always defer to a 60/40 Mohair Silk from Artyarns or other manufacturers. A real pleasure to knit. Your Toast mitts are a favorite. I may cast on another pair this evening. Thanks again for your wonderful videos. 💗
Oh Laurie maybe I need to look for silk mohair with a higher content of silk too!!! That is a great idea! Thank you!!! Happy knitting friend! Makes me so happy you love the TOAST mitts! 🤍🤎💚
I want your sweaters and I want an Alpaca Bar in Seattle! Thanks for your tips on hand dyed yarn. It’s not my favorite either and I always think something is wrong with me. I won’t even tell you how much I’ve invested in the pressed flowers shawl… 9 skein, 3 different color ways, of hand dyed yarn and still just not loving it. Sad…it’s so pretty in the skein, but lesson learned! Stick with classics, period. Have a lovely Thanksgiving! 🦃
Hi Angela! I SO hear ya! Always so beautiful in the skein.... and then it just sits on my shelf! I bet you will love the pressed flowers shawl though! I do think it is a beautiful shawl! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy knitting friend! xx
These are all so brilliant Nicole! Thank you for investing your time and talent to assess these for us all. We get to make choices without risk, thanks to you.😊
Delighted that you had a great trip to London. You have in the past said that you always do carry-on when possible. I'm curious as to what knitting supplies you bring with you in your carry on as often I bring at least one needle for weaving in ends and several other needles for socks and usually put these items in my check in bag to ensure they won't get taken at security. Have a fun week knitting.
Hi Jacqueline! I always take my knitting in my personal bag and I every European Country I have traveled does not have a problem with knitting needles. I did have my metal needles taken away leaving Mexico but not my bamboo needles. I always have a pair of folding scissors as well! And of course, too much yarn! 🤩😍
Yay, it’s my friend Leslie! Fun knitting with you today. I look forward to more next time. I wish I had a sister to knit and travel with, but I do have a knitter-in-law!
I was so happy to see that you had posted another video! It’s been a tough couple weeks & knitting has helped. So, thanks much for the happy chatter. I’m just finishing may first Lento and had to go back and see yours in an earlier episode (which is something I’ve done frequently when I start a pattern & remember your knit.) You & your projects are always lovely!
Oh Katherine! I am so sorry for your tough weeks... And so happy you are a knitter and can add some comfort and joy to your days. One stitch at a time just like one day at a time. Love that we will be Lento twins! Keep smiling sweet friend! xx
Thank you. I was thinking of knitting the Monday Sweater, but I didn't really like the neckline. I love the neckline on the Classic Sweater, so thanks for the introduction to that. I was taught English style knitting as a child. It hurt my hands (I've had arthritis since age 10). It also didn't make sense to me to hold both needles in one hand and throw with the other, which was the only way I could manage it. At age 49, I came across the Nimble Needles TH-cam channel talking about how to knit Continental style. I never knew there were different styles. I gave it a go and now I'm hooked on knitting. I find continental faster, easier, and it doesn't hurt my hands as they don't cramp like they did with my poorly executed version of English style knitting. Your garden looks amazing. If you did an episode outside, I'd love to see some of your northern hemisphere trees and plants and huge lawns. It looks very different to New Zealand. :)
Hello to New Zealand! I visited your county years ago and loved it! I have the best memories from the trip! Great testimony to continental knitting! Yes… a lot of steps in English knitting. I need to help my daughter switch over since I was the one who taught her English style. 🫣😬 Happy knitting sweet friend!❤️
Happy to see a new video. How nice to have a sister to go to London with. I like how all of your patterns carry the 'friend' theme. I am about to knit the 9th Friend to Friend. Such a wonderful gift to share with my friends.
Your 9th friend to friend!!! 😍❤️😍 that makes me so happy that all of your friends are running around in them!!! Thank you!!! And thank you for the visit! Happy knitting!❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been thinking about you and missing you here. I was so glad to see you pop up today. I’m super excited about the Friend Vest. Like the rest of the world I’m loving vests this fall and can’t wait to make yours. Thank you for taking the time to make this podcast.
Your classic sweater is so beautiful. I also have the perfect yarn for it, so I went to my library and painted. Oh boy, I got another cast on while trying to finish another thing. I couldn't credit. I can feel myself wearing that yarn in this sweater-I love it when this happens though. lol hi Leslie nice to see you. I think the darker hem and cuffs looks amazing.
Hi Leslie! I just started The Classic sweater yesterday, and then saw your Ravelry project page which linked to this latest episode.. woah! So happy to see that you liked making it. It looks gorgeous on you. Thank you for the idea of knitting the little socks/sweaters for Christmas. 🙂 Cheers from Nova Scotia
I love the fabric in the Classic sweater you are wearing. Just gorgeous. Watching this wearing my friend2friend and finishing the first sleeve on my drop in dream Sweater. Great to see you. ❤❤
I'm in the exact same place as you on the essential sweater. I started it after you mentioned it on your last podcast. I'm just doing the half twisted rib instead of full twisted. I tried it on and it fits very well. Can't wait to finish!
@LeslieFriend Working on my second pair of "Toast" arm warmers since Nov 1st. I wanted to add some new colors to my Toast collection (7 pairs and counting).
I've been having my paperbound knitting books spiral-bound at an office supply store, so that they open flat and stay flat. Staff always checks to make sure the spiral binding doesn't obscure the text. What a difference!
Wow! Watching your podcast and finishing two of those summer lee Tiny Tree Socks. I needed an ornament gift. It used the smallest amount of yarn but turned out very cute.
I so agree with you on both hand-dyed yarn (great for socks but don't love it in a sweater) and don't like helical knitting. I have found myself drawn to (and wearing more) classic colors and patterns. Thanks for the heads-up on this classic raglan. It is beautiful.
Hi Leslie, Your new sweaters are gorgeous. What is the colorway of the merino that you used for The Classic. I listened twice but I don’t think you mentioned it. Thank you so much for sharing your treasures with us.
Hi! SO sorry maybe I didn't mention it! The merino is Life in the Long Grass (LITLG) color Fuilers Clay. The mohair is Gepard Kid Seta color 880. Hope this helps! xx
Leslie, I have arthritis in my wrists and hands, and weather really affects them. You are right about the Toast wrist warmers. If my wrists are warm it lessens the pain in them and my hands. I pull them down lower over my hands when I need to. I've even been known to wear them in bed at night. All of this to say, your pattern has given me relief and become a wardrobe staple. So thank you for the pattern!❤
Cant wait for the vest pattern and instructions, will be my first sweater knit - just have done hats, mitts etc., - will the tutorials come-inside with release ??
Virginia! YAY! I am so honored that you will knit the Hello Friend as your first garment! Makes me so happy! Yes! The pattern will have a link to the video that will show how I make this one! Thank you for visiting! xx
So great to see you Leslie, I love your classic jumper, it's beautiful. I have always wanted to knit that in black, got the pattern quite a while ago. What a treat visiting Loop. That is on my list for when I go to London next June.I also want to go to Liberty. I think I may be going to knit some Toast for gifts for Christmas, I don't have 10 ply but thinking double stranding fingering weight, will it work?Just had a thought, I could add silk mohair to that double stranded fingering. I think I will try it. Will let you know. You are looking well Leslie and it's been lovely to see some of your photos on IG on your travels.
I have knitted several pairs of Toast arm warmers over the last couple of years, using various worsted and DK weight yarns. My current favorite yarn for Toast is Jojoland Melody Superwash Merino wool. Melody is a fingering weight yarn, and I use it double with Size 7 DPNs and cast on 42 stitches. The fabric and fit are fabulous with the Jojoland Melody yarn.
Thank you so much Shirley! And yes! I think the fingering double with a mohair would work! Stash yarn to make TOAST mitts is always a good idea! Happy knitting sweet friend! And thank you for the visit!❤️
Hi! I use a version of the long tail cast on but I have become a big fan of the tubular bind off. Takes a little extra time but well worth it on sweaters. ❤️❤️❤️happy knitting friend!
Thank you so much Michelle! I have not put the Hello Friend vest pattern on Ravelry yet as it is still being test knit. I hope to have it on in the middle of December and I will announce here when it goes live. Thank you so much for your interest and for your kind words. Happy knitting friend! 🧡
I think the slightly darker ribbing looks intentional and is a great solution. I’m an aspiring carry-on only person, so I’d love to see how you pack, Leslie. What’s your favorite carry-on suitcase/personal item pair?
Hi! Awe thank you regarding my sweater! 💚🤍🤎. As far as carry on… always choose a color and then make it all mix and match! I will try to include in one of my next videos. Great idea! Thank you! I use the AWAY suitcase and I just found a great 2nd bag from TRAVELON. So much can fit into that bag and lots of room for knitting!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@ Love to see the Travelon bag. For my overhead bin bag, I love the Travelpro Maxlite rolling bag. Up to now I’ve used a backpack as my personal item but sometimes it seems too bulky as I tend to overpack it (with knitting, mostly!). I’ve just ordered an underseat Travelpro bag with 2 wheels to replace the backpack. I can place it atop the bigger 4-wheels roller, saving my back. I also try to stick to a neutral clothing palette but I’d love to see your go-to items.
I have your toast pattern but it doesn’t say which yarn weight just a brand of yarn. I guess I could use worsted? Think the one you have is a discontinued tweed yarn Aran.
@@LeslieFriendI have enjoyed knitting Toast arm warmers in DK weight yarns as well as worsted weight. I cast on 42 stitches and use Size 7 DPNs. In addition to using yarns packaged and sold as DK, I have found that using two strands of fingering weight yarn held together knits up the same as one strand of DK.
Hi there Mary! Helical knitting is a method of adding a new skein of yarn to your project. It helps the colors blend so that there is not a distinctive row of where the yarn was added. There are many TH-cam videos that show how this is done. Happy knitting friend! xx
Leslie, I love your videos however like many of many of my favorite podcasts they have become littered with commercials. I believe your short video had 5 commercials. I know something has changed in a setting with TH-cam because this is ridiculous. I understand you are paid a stipend for the commercials, however I am starting to delete subscriptions for podcasts that don’t turn these off. I will be sad not to see the Hello Friend Vest podcast.
@@LeslieFriendI have read that if you let a TH-cam video play through one time before you play it to watch it, there are fewer ads in the second playing.
Oh wow the classic looks amazing! That combo is so good, never would have picked it but it’s gorgeous. Makes my mind wander with unusual potential combos …. might be good for thought as I drift to sleep at night 🙊 thanks for sharing 🥰
The dark lower sections of your sweater is a beautiful design feature!! I would try to do it intentionally.
Awe! Thank you Netty! 😍😍🤩 Happy Knitting friend! xx
Great to find a Friend's video today! I mostly knit gifts, but not for the holidays and only for the knit-worthiest. I love how you worked with the color variation on the cuffs and him of your Classic. Perfectly done.

Your sweater is fabulous....love the choice for the ribbing. It's an excellent design choice.
Awe! Thank you Kathy! We have to do what we can do with what we have sometimes! 🤩😍🥰❤️
Your yarn combination came out perfectly and so smart to use the dark for the ribbing and cuffs! love following your travels on IG ❤
Well, thank you sweet Rhonda! xx
You are so amazing - you knit exactly was fits into your wardrobe, and all your knits seems to be an extension of you. Love it!

I love the sweater! The detail in the cuffs and bottom looks like it could be intentional. No one would ever know except maybe another knitter.
Awe... Thank you Shelly! Thanks for the visit and happy knitting, friend! xx
Beautiful knits, Leslie! I appreciate the technical details you always include in your episodes. I bought the “Memory Lane” book too and am excited to see what you knit from it and how you style them! ❤

I'm in the exact same place as you on the essential sweater. I started it after you mentioned it on your last podcast. I'm just doing the half twisted rib instead of full twisted. I tried it on and it fits very well. Can't wait to finish!
Yay!!! Maybe we will both finish this weekend and can wear it next week!!! 👯💖👯 makes me so happy! Happy knitting friend! 💖
Yay! A new episode from Leslie.
Awe!!! Thank you Vivian for the visit!!!🩷🩷🩷
Another fabulous video Lesley.
I too want to make the vest when your pattern comes out.
Friend to Friend in Texas
Awe! Thank you Karen! And thank you so much for the visit! Happy knitting, friend! 💜
Thank you for another great podcast!! Love your sweaters!!
Thank you Julie! And thanks for visiting!❤️
Your sweaters are always so beautiful, and Loop is smaller than I imagined!
Thank you friend! And yes! It was a tiny jam packed store! Super busy as well! 🤩 happy knitting friend! 🩷
Wow! Watching your podcast and finishing two of those summer lee Tiny Tree Socks. I needed an ornament gift. It used the smallest amount of yarn but turned out very cute.
Those Tiny Tree Socks are so adorable! Happy knitting! xx
I so agree with you on both hand-dyed yarn (great for socks but don't love it in a sweater) and don't like helical knitting. I have found myself drawn to (and wearing more) classic colors and patterns. Thanks for the heads-up on this classic raglan. It is beautiful.
Oh yes! We have the same taste! Thanks for the visit friend! Happy knitting!💖
Thank you Leslie, you’re yarn and pattern selections are inspiring
Thank you friend for the visit!!!💖💖💖
Love seeing your knitting and hearing about your adventures to some of my favorite places! ❤

Looking forward to your vest tutorial. Love your podcasts. ❤
Yay! SO happy to hear that and hope it will be very helpful! Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
I had to have it. Love classic sweaters anyway. Thanks for enabling my addiction. 😊
HA! I hear ya, Linda! But I SO think you will love and get a lot of years out of that one! It is such a CLASSIC! :) Happy knitting! xx
Gorgeous colours for your Memory sweater, so kingfisher! xx
Thank you Susan!
Hi Leslie,
Your new sweaters are gorgeous.
Hope this helps! xx
Thanks for making the tutorial video as some of us don't have access to learning forums. I can't wait to watch and follow along!
Oh, YAY! That makes me so happy! I hope it will be easy to follow along! Happy knitting friend! xx
Love The Classic! Another that I must make!!
Truly Casey! It is such an amazing sweater! Happy knitting friend! xx
Your Classic Sweater is absolutely beautiful 🌲

Yay!!! Thank you!!!❤️❤️❤️
I CANNOT WAIT for THE VEST!!!!!! Your classic is beautiful! Love your podcast ❤❤❤
Yay!!! Makes me so happy! Thank you Linda! Happy knitting sweet friend!🩷
I too can't wait for the friend to friend vest pattern.
Do you know where it will be posted first?
Ravelry or somewhere else.
Oh my goodness Andrea!!! This is music to my ears! You don’t know how happy that makes me!!! I’m so glad they help you to feel better. ❤️❤️❤️
Now on to Friend to Friend for my shoulders....🤪
I am not a gift knitter! Lovely episode! I am going to knit your toast mittens and maybe the essentials sweater for my daughter!
Awe! Yay!!! I hope your daughter loves them! Happy knitting Kailey!🩷

Thank you for visiting! xx
Thanks! Good memory for me London Loop ( December 2017) .
Love that it sparked your memory. Happy knitting friend! ❤️
Hello Leslie - been missing you!
Awe! Hi Judith! Thank you for visiting! ❤️ happy knitting friend!
@@vivianpowell1732 Thankyou for that info. I will try double stranded fingering.
@@shirleyflavell5705 I think you'll like that. The weight of the double-stranded fingering yarn I use is comparable to DK.
Great sweater. What kind of cast on and bind of do you use. Looks neat and beautiful. Thank you.
Hi! I use a version of the long tail cast on but I have become a big fan of the tubular bind off. Takes a little extra time but well worth it on sweaters. ❤️❤️❤️happy knitting friend!
Will your friend to friend vest pattern be posted on ravelry first or somewhere else
Is the Hello Friend vest a pattern you have put on Ravelry? I really enjoy your podcasts and great classic style!
I didn’t find the tiny sweaters pattern. I received th tiny sock pattern. Tku

I have your toast pattern but it doesn’t say which yarn weight just a brand of yarn. I guess I could use worsted? Think the one you have is a discontinued tweed yarn Aran.
Yes! I do want to rewrite that pattern with a current yarn… But any worsted weight yarn works great!💖💖💖💖
@@LeslieFriendI have enjoyed knitting Toast arm warmers in DK weight yarns as well as worsted weight. I cast on 42 stitches and use Size 7 DPNs. In addition to using yarns packaged and sold as DK, I have found that using two strands of fingering weight yarn held together knits up the same as one strand of DK.
Am knitted mini ballerina dolls Togo in wee granddaughter Xmas stockings
Now that sounds darling!!! Happy knitting friend! 💖
👓👍
What is “helical “ knitting?
Hi there Mary! Helical knitting is a method of adding a new skein of yarn to your project. It helps the colors blend so that there is not a distinctive row of where the yarn was added. There are many TH-cam videos that show how this is done. Happy knitting friend! xx
@ thank you, friend!
Shooot Susan!!! Yes. I have not figured out how to skip the ads or I would!!! 😫
@@LeslieFriendI have read that if you let a TH-cam video play through one time before you play it to watch it, there are fewer ads in the second playing.
