Hey Simon! I absolutely love this pie of your mother’s and my mum used Lancashire cheese too. Love how you came home from school and smelled it cooking as you ran up the path.
@@chaudridon1741how is “chaudrion” a British name? Your joke isn’t that funny. Granted it may be your humour but seems a bit racist/fascist but hey, I could have taken that the wrong way.
Pastry looks spot on 👌🏼definitely going to do your mums recipe and her ingredients look lovely.watch this space as I know my family will love this too. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻😊
Hi I. Uesd to love my skool dinners mind u in1970 the dinners at my skool was the best I love English food don't be fooled by my name yes I am a Muslim but I love cheese and onion pie ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Really enjoyed this video.... Just a shout out to Le Creuset. These pots are very expensive but every single time, without fail, everything I've ever thrown in one cooks beautifully.... When i bought mine it was not as expensive as they are now but still worth every single penny. Which brand pie pan are you using please buddy?
I used Self Raising Flour, as your recipe said, but my pastry came out really soft and couldnt stay in one piece, should it have been Plain Flour ? It was still lovely and tasty, but pastry didnt go with it properly....
I’ve never tried Lancashire in a C&O pie & we’re not mad on onions but I think I need to use more as I currently just use 1 large one. Just wondering about the SR flour for a shortcrust, is it because you don’t use much fat. I use 8oz pl flour to 4oz fat.
I followed the pastry recipe (almost) to the letter, exact same proportions of flour to lard but the finished product was unworkable, just constantly broke apart when I tried to roll it. I ended up having to use ready-made from the supermarket. I didn't use the food processor for the breadcrumbs or ice water to bind it, is that where I went wrong?
You answered your own question. You didnt use ice water and didnt make it into fine crumbs I guess. It may have also gotten to warm in your hands if you touched it alot. This pastry needs to stay cold at all times

Thank you for posting this. I was trying to find an onion pie without eggs--so many recipes have eggs--might as well call it a quiche.

Sorry, should have written 'fat' rather than 'lard'.

I like to also put potato in mine.
I've got some Canadian cheddar. That will have to do.
Did I miss the size tin you used? I don't want to be short of filling.
Hi! Can I use already made pie crusts 4 this recipe? TFS 🌺Blessings you 🙌
Absolutely no reason why not.
@@peterlukats937 thanks 👍 be safe!! be well! Be blessed 🙏
What could I sub for Lancashire here in the States?
Just use cheddar - or any mild, hard cheese
Maybe a 50/50 mix of feta and cheddar. It'll work but it won't be even close to the same as Lancashire.
It's a crumbly tangy cheese unique flavour perfect for cooking order over the net.
Zita Lorna I made this with chilli cheese ...Wow
@@georgelangan33 Real cheddar from Cheddar in England is immeasurably superior. Can't you order some online Andy have it shipped over?
Please is it made with shortcut pastry or puf pastery
Shortcrust pastry.
Oh my goodness,I want to sink my teeth into this.
Did you make the bottom first ?
I would like to know this too.
What temperature for the oven.

When I make cheese and onion pie I add mash potato with the cheese and onion

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but the pastry recipe did not make nearly enough for both a bottom and a top crust.
Double the recipe
Hey
I added minced beef to mine, cuz I wanted it to taste like a cheese burger pie.
i like stronger cheese
Looks like an eight inch dish?
Tumble in some flour? Would love an actual recipe.
