Great recipe. A little fresh or even dried parsley and green chilli combined with the red chilli would be good too in the mix (green chilli's give a slightly different flavour of course); although it is not lost on me that some are averse to all things that are green lol!
Just made it. Didn't have fresh chili so used powder and flakes. Also used fresh tomatoes. Great result but definitely not kebab shop sauce. Next time I'll make it properly.
The book in the background piqued my interest. One or two searches and I find Bob Mortimer. Next thing I know I've watched about three hours of the best of Bob Mortimer on "Would I Lie To You" and other shows. That's why I like your videos; I always learn something new and have a laugh.
Made this not only was it easy to make but the flavour was banging put it all over me homemade kebab was delicious had it with some papa johns aswell 👌
Nothing beats a good Northern kebab chilli sauce, outside of the North and they very South of Scotland I have never had kebab chilli sauce I like, instead I get a spicy ketchup which is called "kebab sauce" or "chilli sauce"
Thanks for your recipe chef. Did you make your own donner kebab or was it leftovers from a takeaway? I've got a recipe for making it at home and it's decent and it tastes good even when sober.
Had a go at this tonight with whatever we had to hand. Used bell pepper instead of chillies, and a quarter teaspoon of garlic powder instead of fresh garlic. It turned out well enough for me to buy some better ingredients to have another go again. We don't like our chilli sauce mega hot but I'm looking forward to giving proper chillies a go. 5 days in the fridge easily. I don't like to recommend anything lasting longer than this in the fridge as it's pretty standard but the sauce freezes really well and can then be kept for months
For some reason, the idea of using this as an ersatz pasta arrabbiata sauce tickles me. It should also fit in my budget for the whole slew of barbecue potlucks that are coming up. I'll give it a test run first and report back.
I had this with pasta and can confirm it works great. I blend it very gently in the video to leave a bit of texture but if you blend it well it lightens in colour and becomes a lot creamier in texture
I followed the recipe 100%. It was close... even edible. So I started fresh, I mixed some harrisa and ketchup and the results were better and closer. Took all of 20 seconds.

Dairy would help reduce the heat but I'd probably do the recipe again without chilli and mix the two together

I never like to leave anything in the fridge for more than 5 days but this sauce freezes well if you want to safely keep it longer
