The fact that Kejelcha, Barega and Aregawi was not even allowed to race the 5000m alongside Gebrhiwet in Paris was a disgrace. They would all have been medal-candidates. Politics forced them to only run the 10 000m
Honestly, the strategy in the 10000m was smart. In recent years, they usually stayed back only to end up getting beaten by Cheptegei, Ingebrigtsen, Farah and others. Trying to tire out other racers in a team tactic, especially when you have the fastest times, makes total sense. And in the end, they at least got a silver medal out of it which is more than they managed in any WCH or Olympic 5k/10k race since Barega's gold in Tokyo.
But Cheptegei is just a class apart from the Ethiopians, they've tried him for so many years but got him only once in thebTokyo 2022, wic was a tactical error by Chrptegei to wait for Kiplimo
When the Ethiopian tripped up on that hurdle in the Olympic Steeplechase, that definitely was not fixed. He went down really hard. There was no way that could have been faked.

I thought strange practices in the Ethiopian Olympic committee was well known. I had not heard Kejelcha and Barega were “forced” to lead and push the pace. I just assumed it was a strategy (that has been used many times in the past by both Ethiopia and Kenya) to narrow the field and get rid of the kickers. Let’s face it Cheptagai is a very formidable runner.
I'm trying to make sense of this. Human trafficking usually means making a commodity of a human body. We then assume most of it in sexual sense. That wouldn't make sense to an Athletic Governing body. But trafficking in human bodies as an athletic commodity makes much more sense. Many Ethiopian athletes might not be able to make their own national team but how many other countries would regard them as a superstar? Remember Siffan Hasan was an Ethiopian refugee who made her way to the Netherlands on her own, started running on her own. Why leave it to chance? Maybe the Committee members are using their position of power as a broker for athletes to countries that have, maybe, too much money and are willing to pay to have their nation's uniform be in the shot, maybe in the center of the picture, crossing an Olympic finish line. That ultimately is where the Russian doping scandal comes from. Putin and his underlings are willing to do anything to have a Russian uniform cross the finish line first. They want that image flashed around the world, seen by hundreds of million viewers so bad, they don't even care that 3 years later, some sports section seen by a few thousand fanatics, might mention that athlete got disqualified for doping. Either way, it is the human body as a commodity to all of them.
Ethiopia? Corruption?? Who could have imagine??? (Anyone that's been outside the airport in Addis Ababa. The country is in tatters, experiencing endless civil wars between China and western interests)
Kejelcha and Barega both finished less than 2 seconds behind gold medalist Cheptegei, that doesn't seem like a set-up race to me except for the clips in the video showing all three Ethiopian runners leading the pack at some point in the race. Kenya has been suspected of team tactics in Olympic and WC races for years, nothing new. Unless the international governing bodies can find something that part of the story is a non-issue. If the gruesome trafficking allegations are real then that might allude to a mindset or character flaw in those EOC members ('mens rea') to try pay-to-play with runners, but its two separate things.
although its not as serious as it seems, i can understand their frustration after failing when following orders from someone else. theyre professionals so it probably pissed them off that they were forced to run a certain way in such a big stage
Of all the sensationalized clickbaits in all of TRP’s channel, this video single handedly trumps all of them for most bizarre and nonsensical. I know it’s offseason and content still needs to be created year round but for FS put the tinfoil hat down. 🤦🏻♂️🤣

When I saw "Drama" in the title, I thought it would be something relatively mild. I genuinely gasped when hearing "human trafficking" lol.
Its mild
Go Haile! Restore truth and justice!
That's really messed up😢
Still to this day nothing on Sifan and her incredible Olympic performance…
Exactly….that was an amazing feat and he didn’t mention anything about it

Ingebritsen wasnt running 10k and certainly not with these guys

maybe they were forced to do that so someone could bet that a certain runner would be leading the race after 5 laps and make a profit.
😂😂 💯
Too big to rig! (The Olympics)
Sad commentary indeed anytime a government’s nefarious activities corrupts athletes’ ability to compete.

what does it mean they were forced ? what they will do to them
My guess is refuse to let them race in the future or something like that.
I assumed from their statement they were told to race in a certain way or they wouldn't be able to compete.
Threatened to give them or their coaches penalties in what ways idk
Kejelcha & Barega 26:44.04 & 26:44.48 both finished the 10000m….forced from what race????
Talk shit about east africa as usual ..
