I love how the translator actually had to spend time translating the options for whether or not you wanted to read the game with kanji or just hiragana.
Hey, I'm the one who discovered the Phineas music and the hourly song names! I'm so happy to see them featured in one of your videos. :)
P.S. BGM_TOWN_MIDNIGHT and BGM_TOWN_EARLY are used for the normal city music, but the Phineas theme plays on a muted audio track so you can't hear it.
The_Only_Zac This is gonna sound weird but I want to thank you. I’m the one who _ripped_ those tracks since they were mentioned on TCRF but not present. Because of that I wanted to hear them, and I learned how to rip video game music. Now... well, look at my channel, it’s what I do for fun.
Update: I actually bothered to test this, and you can get the audio track to play if you visit Phineas during the day and stand in front of him for several hours. You can see it on my channel.
@@Chubby_Bub Sorry it took me a whole year to respond, but thank *you* for ripping those tracks! I remember wanting to post them, but I was having trouble converting the file formats and then I got distracted with other things. I am glad to be a positive influence, keep up the good work :)

In response to the close emotion, my guess would be that maybe something was broken with that inventory animation and so it was tied to the emotion as an easy way to trigger it repeatedly for bug testing. That would explain the naming, no unique icon, and having to hack the game to find it. Just a guess though.

Interesting story to the third layer: While it's unused and it was planned you can actually insert those tiles using a map editor and they would function like intended. I have done that years ago as the ability to save the savegame using homebrew became possible.
Sadly it appears that the third layer only consists of a corner piece, from what I recall you could add to the map.
You could also place houses onto that corner acre and it worked like normal.
My guess as to why the third layer got scrapped is maybe due to the bus stop and the gate for multiplayer but also because once it was placed the surrounding walls no longer were high enough and allowed you to look past them. I personally never noticed something odd when looking past those walls, neither in 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio but maybe I never looked for actual glitched stuff or the void when looking past this.
Straight up forgot the biggest regional difference, the name is different in different regions.

Animal Crossing City Folk was my very, very, very favorite game as a kid growing up in Idaho. Not sure if that means anything haha.

I never got the enjoyment of playing old Nintendo and Sega games because I was born after the 2000's so I'm pretty sure that was after the GameCube and the Dreamcast and stuff. Or I was just to little to know what they where. But I'm happy to experience what I missed out on when I was a kid.

One of my favourite Animal Crossing songs is Cajon
Actually, the Midnight and Early Phineas themes weren't cut, but you can't get them easily. As Phineas is only in the city before midnight and after early, you have to stand next to Phineas from before midnight and wait until midnight to actually hear them. You can't enter any buildings at midnight or early though, as it removes Phineas. All credit to this thing goes to Sir Potato Bottom.

City folk/ let's go to the city was the first animal crossing game I played since I was a young, yet people hate it and I don't understand it. They made new animal types like cubs, a lot of NPCs were seen and the beds being save states was pretty unique to me. Thanks City folk for introducing me to some of the cutest series ever.💖😍💗☺️

I always forget that not everybody grew up in a tiny southern town where words like "hootenanny" are commonplace.
City folk was and always will be my absolute favorite! (But grass deterioration was a terrible idea)
I remember...I was like 8 and I named myself nut be used it was short.. and booting up my town and loving that game..I loved it so much.. but those controls man...they were rough
