AGREED!!! We live in a time where music is everywhere, we use our phones as our media player. Which is fine, but as an avid music listener. I don't FEEL connected to my music because my phone is getting calls, driving I don't really lose myself in music because I'm driving and focused. I don't get to just sit back, relax, and lose myself in music because my phone is just that. A phone. I don't have a dedicated music player. I wish Apple would realize that.
Just me being a bit of a pessimist, but they'd probably somehow put Apple Music streaming on it anyway and really insist the users subscribe and use it. Maybe even to they point where they'd offer the option of a version of the device with cellular connection, and make it unnecessarily difficult to load your own music-files on to it... but hey, maybe they'll just be nice to us and release a classic 8 with a top tier DAC. Would be sick!
I will always encourage people to get physical versions of everything they can. Always try to do that so that you can own the things that you buy. For your setup in this video, get an external optical drive for your mac ( ASUS makes a lot of them ) for something like 30 bucks, and you can import/rip your CD directly from music/itunes, and also get the artwork and album info without much hassle.
Yea I plan on getting that. I usually collect Vinyls but now collecting CDs might also be the way to go because the audio quality is leagues better and very noticeable. Thanks for the recommendation might make a YT short about it!
Hi! Welcome to the IPod club, what you actually have is a 6.5 gen and not a 7th, the 6.5 came in 120GB whereas the 7th was 160GB only, The only downside really is you will be limited to 128GB when flashmodding.
Thank you. Every other video about owning one is a video about tearing it apart to change the parts and then saying it’s ready to use. It was nice to see a video about actually using one
Hello. If you need to import your cd music collection on iMac or MacBook without additional device and iCloud, you can use an external cd drive. I’m using cheap model from ASUS and it works great on MacBook Air m1. And yes, Apple Music can rip cd in good order with different apple formats. Apple Music will guess album, artist and add standard cover.
I had the same gap as you. After purchasing a 5.5 video off of eBay. I’ve slowly started a collection of nanos and classics by searching marketplace and offer up. It’s cool to have your classic for the house or trips but having a 2nd or 3rd gen nano or even a shuffle for work outs is so nice. the small storage options make me be a lot more selective of my playlist
Thank you, for sharing this excellent overview of your use of a classic iPod 7th generation model. In 2014, I picked-up my first iPod a classic 5th generation model to use with my new Hyundai Sonata which, has been working great for the last 10-years. In addition, to having music CD's and downloaded iTunes music my iPod, it also has Podcast and classic radio dramas from the 1940's and 1950's which, are perfect for long airline flights (smile ... smile).
gotta compliment your production quality, your colour grading is great, particularly that one shot of you sitting on the bench. i love my ipod(s) modded a 7th gen that i saved from scrap.
There’s a shortcut to the shuffle setting - when playing a song, on the now playing page press your select button several times. You’ll cycle through being able to scrub through the song, adjust volume, shuffle, and song rating options which you use the wheel to increase/decrease

Nice! I still use my ipod touch 4th and 7th gen with an Oppo HA2se sometimes my ipad 6th gen. I was stuck with transferring music and your vid helped me out! Thank you
You mentioned Walkman. I bounce between the ipod classic and an A45 walkman. I like the Sensme ability of the walkman. It creates playlists based on mood/tempo. Nice video!
I was just thinking about buying one and imagined listening to MBDTF on it. Seeing the album (and many others) on your list made me smile lol I'm gonna have to rewatch this video in anticipation till I find a good one
I modded a classic 5.5 with a new battery and bigger hard drive. Loaded it up with music and audiobooks. I absolutely love it and use it all the time. Plus, headphone jack! No dead Bluetooth battery issues. I loved cancelling subscriptions and just getting music I love and own. You can also mod it with Bluetooth if you really want to. I didn't bother though. Edited to say, I also put Rockbox on mine so it's easy to drag and drop music on there, create playlists and so forth. Works great!
Idk how I wound up here but welcome to the good side of music! I still have my iPod Nano as well as 6 gen from back in the day…. I will say watching you explain ripping a cd threw me until I realized not a lot of younger kids weren’t tween/teens during the iPod era😅
For me as a teen student what I do for music is using my I phone SE 3 only and have no data on my device and only calls and text feature. I delete all social media apps off of my phone and only have TH-cam when near a Wi-Fi to used it. Then I turned off all notifications instead of weather alert in case of bad weather. I only have 64 gig of storage that is good enough for me using music wise. I just wish that apple will bring back the FM radio like the old I pod 6 generation nano that has it for local radio station music or over the air stations.
the quality of the video is great. i love the stuff you've said in the video. but i personally would like the speaker a big closer to the camera. i feel like that makes it more like a conversation and feels more personal while watching the video. but if standing slightly away from the camera and speaking is your thing, go ahead. i'm glad youtube recommended a high quality content creator. all the best.

I have never had an issue with iTunes identifying tracks from store bought disks. Burned disks can have issues. If iTunes isn’t sure which CD you’re copying it will prompt you to choose the proper option. iTunes is an old piece of software. Older users are going to be comfortable with it that younger ones as it involves an aged interface and requires older hardware, like CD drives. Having said that, once you get to know it it works well. The integration with the iTunes Store and Apple TV is amazing as the classic iPods haven’t been sold in years! If you want to play videos downloaded from Apple TV on your iPod make sure you have iTunes set for SD video downloads.

Good video but I am really confused why you don't just rip music from CDs in iTunes and then they can sync up with you iPod when you plugged it in? This is exactly as it always has been with the iPod. You can specify what format and bit rate to rip music from CD in iTunes as well. Don't use windows media player and do all the dragging, etc.
