Michael, I greatly enjoy your reactions to Angelina. AGT gave her great exposure. I highly suggest reacting to the video Alan Papier posted on his channel, which gives the background story of why Angelina always performs barefoot and then he plays her new song, "Princess of Ruins". Angelina said at her Vegas concerts, performing barefoot is her identity and that will never change. I believe understanding backstories of an artist or a song add a lot to how they make us feel. I enjoyed your thoughtful analysis, Michael. I was a huge Elton John fan as a teenager in the '70s. I've never found another artist whose work resonated with me like that until I found Angelina Jordan. Hearing her arrangement of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was a special treat for me. The third performance from this show, Someone You Loved, is also worth a listen.

YO! Of course we make it all the way to end. Always 🙂 Just to complete Simon's last sentence : "You made this contest way, way better because you set a real standard". Great words from THE man that Angelina wanted to impress, wouldn't you agree ? Also that he said that he will remember the performance for years and years to come. Mission accomplished I guess. Also keep in mind that Angelina, prior to accepting the invite to the show, made it absolutely clear that she didn't want to have to sign a contract with SImon if she indeed DID win. As it happens, all the 5 first finalists are given a contract with him. So it makes kinda sense that Angelina would end 6th on the show. That being said, a LOT of people regard Angelina the real winner of the show. I may be mistaken, but I think a dog show did win the whole thing. Obviously not taking anything away from neither the dog nor its trainer, but C'MON, right ?? LOL Take care, buddy!

I do not know any cover of this Elton song that I have liked more, loved more than what was heard here. So very beautiful, yet she was not chosen as a winner, though the whole world knows better. Time will prove us right.

She is a young living legend! Many see her as the best young female singer and versatile artist we have today! The entire music industry knows who she is, but she steers at her own pace towards unstoppable success and greatness. She is already an artist for the big occasions with e.g. The new FIFA World Cup's official anthem, in addition to several major performances. Like few artists, she has performed for the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 8 and 17. She is 18 today.

"Quirky outfits": She and her Grandma Mery designed and made those. Today she is supermodel beautiful and wearing custom made outfits by top designers and has been on the cover of several international fashion magazines.

Yo 👍🏻 From a pop song to a pop ballad? Is that right? 😅 Her knowledge to use the right vocal dynamics that the lyrics and emotion asks for are well beyond her age. Quite mesmerising to listen to. My recommendation for you is Angelina Jordan's cover of "I'd Rather Go Blind'. That will showcase her versatility even more and for me it's quite unbelievable. Then there's her cover of My Funny Valentine which she performed when she was 9 years old almost 10 and at 16 years old. That would be a fun video to make comparison between the two. Hi Mike, I subbed to your channel and have been watching your Ren reactions and I’m so glad you’re reacting to Angelina Jordan. Looking forward to more.. really do enjoy your reactions. Noticed someone requested her 2018 live performance of James Brown’s, It’s a Man’s World and I highly recommend that as well although all of her videos are a class act. I’m seventy and she has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.

I adopted "derelique" as the description of my fashion sense (my personal definition: basic clothes, maybe with a lil extra drape cuz that's comfy, BUT NO HAND-WASHING OR DRY-CLEANING permitted, mostly neutral colours or black, but basic blue jeans appreciated, bonus points if you can find stuff you're gonna be able to do a half-assed job of mending any super inconvenient tears, WEAR IT ALL TIL IT FALLS OFF YOUR BODY).

About videos of 14 year old Angelina - this might be a difficult task, for the pandemic hitted hard in 2020 , esp regarding public appearances. The only videos I remember are the lyric and studio versions of "Million Miles", and "Above the Water" (which is actually only acoustic).
She must have done some pandemic performances online?
@@michaelgoyettemusic She did, but mainly in 2021 when she was already 15yo. After signing with Republic Records, she had access to their LA studio so she was able to work during the later part of the pandemic.
Her two Adele covers "All I ask" and "Easy on me", her original "7th Heaven", MJ's "Heal the world" and the Whitney/Mariah duet "When you believe" are from this studio - as well as her famous 2021 online Christmas concert.
It was almost the only chance to perform at this time. But 2020 was hard, especially given the fact she had her moment in American TV on AGT the Champions in January 2020 - she partly reflects that in "7th heaven".

I remember that in a longer video version of this performance Simon Cowell asked Angelina in a very serious manner that does she really understand how good she is. I think Simon doesn't say those kind of things if there is not something very special in the artist. Angelina didn't answer anything. Some people claim that Simon offered Angelina a big record deal in Sony Music but Angelina and her family turned that offer down. I don't know if that is true or not but a little bit later Angelina signed a record deal in Republic Records and it was the CEO of Republic Records personally who made the deal with Angelina and her family.

@@michaelgoyettemusic No, they are not, especially not in this case. Claudia and Heidi are about the same age and height and both blonde, but that's about it. Claudia is a German model, Heidi is an American model who was born in Germany.
Since thin models were particularly successful in Europe at the time, Heidi went to America very early on and had her career there, while the other "interchangeable" German models had their breakthrough in Europe - namely in Paris.

First, and foremost; Angelina was not on that show to win. This was quite simply to promote and expose the US public to this prodigy that comes along maybe once in a generation. To win, AJ’s family would have had to sign a contract with Simon, and he would have been in control of her future. Her family would not allow that to happen. It was not question of money offered because AJ was already worth 2 to 3 million at the age of 13, and her family are very wealthy. I am sure America’s Got Talent was paid well by her production company Stargate, the hitmaking duo (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith). David Foster tried to sign her in the past after she won Norway's Got Talent, but the family did not like the contract. She is like nothing we have ever experienced.
People, wake up to reality; do you honestly think for one moment that a talent like Angelina Jordan if competing on AGT would not win if it were legit? AJ is a talent like no other in this world at this time. I am astonished at your naiveté!

@@Penguinlust1313 it's a show if you just want to hear the music buy a record. Then of course there are those who replace little talent with little clothing, which is not the case with Angelina. She cares a lot about how she looks even when she leaves the house, her favorite style is vintage and in the shows the clothes used are often designed by her together with her grandmother who is a well-known artist.
She's good, especially for her age, but I think she does far too many runs. It's a bad habit
The runs sound natural and unforced to me so I like it….I’m not usually a fan of endless runs though.
@@michaelgoyettemusic Totally agree! The runs were done organically and never felt forced. She's well known for not just having great runs but well placed ones as well. The more songs you hear form her, the more you realize she has a really good sense of music. The standing ovation from the audience and the judges pretty much says it all!
