Looking at this child singing I often find myself surprised she doesn't lose her timing, starting too soon or not holding a note long enough. But no, her timing is impeccable, better than most, even creative so many times in how she manipulates the timing of the song.
There's no teacher behind her. She's always working professionally with the musicians. With a part of this band she did a full concert feeling good tour in the following summer ⛱️ with unbelievable performances. She's on the right way to heaven. What ten year old can command a band of this caliber like that. I love everything Angelina does but Im amazed at her abilities performing with live music. Whether a single guitar or complete orchestra, she is so comfortable singing with live instruments. Don't leave ten years old without reacting to I'M STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU, a ten year old should not be able to sing and interpret lyrics like that.

Yes, at ten years old, already a seasoned professional. Her teacher? The only schooling in music was an after school program which taught theory and a couple of instruments. Several of her 6-7 year old videos were taken in that school studio. No one wanted, or was able, to teach Angelina to sing - they were afraid it would ruin her natural abilities. Angelina taught herself by listening to all of the greatest jazz singers of the past, thanks to her Grandma's extensive record/CD collection. But without innate talent, nearly perfect pitch, an angel's voice, a wonderful sense of rhythm, etc., she would be nowhere. And, every year of her life she has continued to perfect her musical abilities. Up to last year, she had only written 5 songs, and had two written for her to sing, but now she has come out with six or seven more, some in an album. She signed up with Universal Records when she was 14, and they said she was a "highest priority new artist." Now, at 18 years old, she has 10 years of performing behind her. Republic has built her her own studio too. She has already had one concert in the U.S., last fall, and has another scheduled for Las Vegas in February. I was lucky to have attended two of her concerts in Norway in 2022. She is the real deal!
The way Angelina interacted with the camera when it did a 360 is simply fantastic. This was an amazing performance by any standard. In fact, all of Angelina's performances at age 10 are phenomenal....and she only gets better from here.

She was in front of the camera from the age of one and a half, so the camera would not intimidate her and by the age of 10 she had already mastered communicating with the camera.
The best version of this song that I’ve heard. Just magical. We shouldn’t forget that Angelina participated in many events in support of charitable organizations. This was an event held in support of "Plan International", a humanitarian and development organization with the goal of advancing children's rights and equality for girls around the world. "Foster Parents" sponsor needy children around the world with monetary pledges that go directly to helping the specific children whom they sponsored and are able to communicate with them via Plan International. The event was held on December 30, 2016 at Chateau Neuf Center in Oslo and broadcast on TV2. Angelina was one of several performers and delivered a stunning performance. Most of Angelina's performances after winning Norway Got Talent at age 8 were for children charitable organizations. This Amazing young lady with the big voice and bigger heart is 18 years old today and still performs barefoot to remember the shoeless girl that she met when she was 6 years old and to remind us all of the many needy children around the world. Yo, Angelina went to the Oslo Waldorf for the arts. Shortly after this performance she released her first album with the Nowegian Armed Forces band: "It's Magic". In the summer of 2017 she did a series on concerts with the band on the stage with her in this performance. They were fantastic, especially her open number: "Loving You". After that she moved to Los Angeles to attend the Waldorf school there leading to a Golden Buzzer performance on AGT The Champions at age 13. A year later she signed with Republic where her mentor was and is Grammie winning Rob Christie, Republic's music director. Oh, another mentor was Quincy Jones, where she sang for his birthday at the O2 Arena. Angelina has worked with many great musicians too numerous to mention. And at the age of 18 she is making her debut in Las Vegas on Feb 29th 2024 at the Westgate Hotel on the same stage where Elvis closed out his career. I wish her all the success in the world. ❤

The second is a song you will never have heard of: "I Keep Holding Out for You" by Baby Fuzz. Before Fuzz recorded it, a backing tape was sent out to a few artists to make a demo. One copy was sent to Angelina, she put her own spin on it and made a demo of it. Because of the lyrics (you will see why) her family did not want it released. A leaked copy fell into the hands of an Angelina fan, and he made a video of Angelina shots aged 8-12 to go with the demo track, which was released 2-3 years after it was originally recorded by AJ. Appearently she's mostly self taught. Other coaches said, you can learn that. But you cant teach it. This video was the point she shedded the last remains of her kids voice. Her performances at 12/13 of California Dreaming, Million Years ago, Diamonds are forever and Its a mans world are totally eclipse the originals, letting the broadness and details of her voice really shine.
Her family was told not to allow her to take voice lessons. Apparently they were right. Never cut off a song of Angelina’s before it’s finished-you missed her cute little ten-year-old curtsy at the end. It is my belief she and her family knew she would not win strictly because they would not sign with Simon C. He does not like losing and that was his way of saying so. Even Howie M. Mentioned the voting of super fan ie the panel or show owners that all have fingers in the pot. They pick the winners and get royalties when the sign on.

A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. As usual, a vocal master piece. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. AJ's first teacher was called Billie - Billie Holiday. She sang and Angelina absorbed the music. There's no explaining it. Thanks for a great reaction. You'll have fun if you move ahead in age like this. Next stop, I suggest Diamonds Are Forever or Cry Me a River, both from the Proysenfestivalen at age 11. There are 'sound enhanced' videos out there which adjust somewhat for the fact that it's recorded live on an iPhone, but her voice is true.

Great reaction. You asked who’s her teacher. The truth is no one. Angelina is basically self taught. From what we understand she has never had any formal vocal training or a voice coach. As far as we know the only vocal instruction she has had was for how to protect her voice. She was introduced to jazz music at a very young age by her jazz fan grandmother. By 3 years old she was studying the jazz greats on TH-cam videos.

She started singing at the age of 3 and had lessons in the after-school program at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts from the age of 4/5. When she was about 14/15 years old, the teachers there told her that they couldn't teach her anything anymore because she had already learned everything they taught... When she turned 14 she had already lived in LA for 2 years.. The story is that when she was little, back in Norway, she received music tuition, piano and singing lessons and musical theory lessons but no "vocal coaching" because coaching is for changing the voice - which nobody wanted in her case. 🙂
Angelina started listening to jazz on TH-cam at 3 years old and has practiced 4-6 hours a day every day since then. She entered an after school program where she was taught how to read music, deconstruct and rearrange songs, play the piano and the guitar. She has a natural talent for music but she also WORKS extremely hard at her craft, and NEVER receives enough credit for it. I’m not sure but I think she also has perfect and absolute pitch.
Thank you for another reaction to Angelina, but please, please do not stop the video until the end, as you will often miss something which will help you to understand Angelina a little better. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction. There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice. (2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. (9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!" (10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause. Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. I almost envy you for all the unforgettable moments Angelina has given us over the years which you don't have seen yet. In one of these, she performed in Stockholm in 2014. Angelina was 8 years old, and the concert's purpose was to raise money for victims of bullying. Just before the concert, she fell ill, with a severe cold with fever. It was recommended that she cancel, but Angelina refused. She didn't want to let the organizer and the fans down. She plays keyboard/piano, flute, violin, and guitar, and has written over 100 songs, and at 9, was the youngest author to be published in Norway. She rearranges any cover that she does and makes them her own. AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is a famous artist and poet and was a child prodigy and has been a major force in AJ's upbringing. There is no way you can experience Angelina Jordan without becoming very emotional. This being moves mountains. Grandma Mery spent so much time with Angelina picking songs for her to perform from Mery's past, and it is very obvious, they have this very special rapport.

Looking at this child singing I often find myself surprised she doesn't lose her timing, starting too soon or not holding a note long enough. But no, her timing is impeccable, better than most, even creative so many times in how she manipulates the timing of the song.

Angelina has actually said she taught herself to sing. When asked in an interview she admitted this, explaining “…at around two I started listening to videos on TH-cam…”
She actually also said that she was influenced by her grandmother listening to "jazz".. lol
And, just for the record, she has worked with vocal coaches, presumably to make sure she didn't fall into any bad habits.
What struck me most about this performance was how restrained (in a good way) it was, letting the instruments provide the punch until the very end, when the fireworks went off!

Yes, at ten years old, already a seasoned professional. Her teacher? The only schooling in music was an after school program which taught theory and a couple of instruments. Several of her 6-7 year old videos were taken in that school studio. No one wanted, or was able, to teach Angelina to sing - they were afraid it would ruin her natural abilities. Angelina taught herself by listening to all of the greatest jazz singers of the past, thanks to her Grandma's extensive record/CD collection. But without innate talent, nearly perfect pitch, an angel's voice, a wonderful sense of rhythm, etc., she would be nowhere. And, every year of her life she has continued to perfect her musical abilities. Up to last year, she had only written 5 songs, and had two written for her to sing, but now she has come out with six or seven more, some in an album. She signed up with Universal Records when she was 14, and they said she was a "highest priority new artist." Now, at 18 years old, she has 10 years of performing behind her. Republic has built her her own studio too. She has already had one concert in the U.S., last fall, and has another scheduled for Las Vegas in February. I was lucky to have attended two of her concerts in Norway in 2022. She is the real deal!

Yo, Angelina went to the Oslo Waldorf for the arts. Shortly after this performance she released her first album with the Nowegian Armed Forces band: "It's Magic".
In the summer of 2017 she did a series on concerts with the band on the stage with her in this performance. They were fantastic, especially her open number: "Loving You". After that she moved to Los Angeles to attend the Waldorf school there leading to a Golden Buzzer performance on AGT The Champions at age 13. A year later she signed with Republic where her mentor was and is Grammie winning Rob Christie, Republic's music director.
Oh, another mentor was Quincy Jones, where she sang for his birthday at the O2 Arena. Angelina has worked with many great musicians too numerous to mention. And at the age of 18 she is making her debut in Las Vegas on Feb 29th 2024 at the Westgate Hotel on the same stage where Elvis closed out his career. I wish her all the success in the world. ❤

The second is a song you will never have heard of: "I Keep Holding Out for You" by Baby Fuzz. Before Fuzz recorded it, a backing tape was sent out to a few artists to make a demo. One copy was sent to Angelina, she put her own spin on it and made a demo of it. Because of the lyrics (you will see why) her family did not want it released. A leaked copy fell into the hands of an Angelina fan, and he made a video of Angelina shots aged 8-12 to go with the demo track, which was released 2-3 years after it was originally recorded by AJ. Never cut off a song of Angelina’s before it’s finished-you missed her cute little ten-year-old curtsy at the end. Did you see her eyes following the camera as it circled around her and her smiling to the camera? Stage presence indeed-at ten years old. It’s my understanding that was also her arrangement, which I am crazy about! Yes, perfection, and one of my very favorite songs of hers.

It is my belief she and her family knew she would not win strictly because they would not sign with Simon C. He does not like losing and that was his way of saying so. Even Howie M. Angelina wrote new lyrics for two famous songs by Amy Winehouse, "Back to Black" and "Rehab" since it was inappropriate for a preteen to sing the original lyrics. For "Back to Black" Angelina wrote the new lyrics in the 24 hours prior to the recording, then needed just two takes.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. There are 'sound enhanced' videos out there which adjust somewhat for the fact that it's recorded live on an iPhone, but her voice is true.
Her voice is great of course and so stylish. But it's her timing at such a young age that amazes me. She really understands the music and her space within it.

You asked who’s her teacher. The truth is no one. Angelina is basically self taught. From what we understand she has never had any formal vocal training or a voice coach. As far as we know the only vocal instruction she has had was for how to protect her voice.
She was introduced to jazz music at a very young age by her jazz fan grandmother. By 3 years old she was studying the jazz greats on TH-cam videos.

Don't worry - and don't think you're a bad teacher! Angelina is an absolutely exceptional talent. She started singing at the age of 3 and had lessons in the after-school program at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts from the age of 4/5. When she was about 14/15 years old, the teachers there told her that they couldn't teach her anything anymore because she had already learned everything they taught...

When she turned 14 she had already lived in LA for 2 years.. The story is that when she was little, back in Norway, she received music tuition, piano and singing lessons and musical theory lessons but no "vocal coaching" because coaching is for changing the voice - which nobody wanted in her case. 🙂
Angelina started listening to jazz on TH-cam at 3 years old and has practiced 4-6 hours a day every day since then. She entered an after school program where she was taught how to read music, deconstruct and rearrange songs, play the piano and the guitar. She has a natural talent for music but she also WORKS extremely hard at her craft, and NEVER receives enough credit for it. I’m not sure but I think she also has perfect and absolute pitch.

Thank you for another reaction to Angelina, but please, please do not stop the video until the end, as you will often miss something which will help you to understand Angelina a little better. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction.
There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 4.44 in your reaction video.
(9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!"
(10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different
I almost envy you for all the unforgettable moments Angelina has given us over the years which you don't have seen yet. In one of these, she performed in Stockholm in 2014. Angelina was 8 years old, and the concert's purpose was to raise money for victims of bullying. Just before the concert, she fell ill, with a severe cold with fever. It was recommended that she cancel, but Angelina refused. She didn't want to let the organizer and the fans down. She does a version of MJ's "I'll Be There" which, given the setting above, is one of the most impressive and beautiful performances I've ever seen. Could you please react to this one? ❤

This something that can't be taught, AJ is a genius storyteller signature voice that comes along once in a thousand years. She plays keyboard/piano, flute, violin, and guitar, and has written over 100 songs, and at 9, was the youngest author to be published in Norway. She rearranges any cover that she does and makes them her own. AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is a famous artist and poet and was a child prodigy and has been a major force in AJ's upbringing. There is no way you can experience Angelina Jordan without becoming very emotional. This being moves mountains. Grandma Mery spent so much time with Angelina picking songs for her to perform from Mery's past, and it is very obvious, they have this very special rapport.
For you old folks this production is right out of the Nelson Riddle genre of jazz arrangements.

About three years ago, I listened only to Angelina Jordan for two weeks and accepted she is a gift to humanity. I bet, If the whole world can have a Angels day, where only her music is played, she can change humanity to a better being.
