I'm willing to go out on a limb and give it a try, I been using Shakespeare Ugly Sticks for 25 years and never had any problems with them at all. But reels that cost anywhere between $150 - $300, they better do some magical shit out in the water for sure...
Thanks for doing this Cap'n Mikey. I always wonder the same thing.....should I upgrade from my $100-150 dollar reels to a REALLY nice one. Of course that would be the first one I accidentally kick off the deck and into the water!
I️ have the sharky 2, I️ love it it’s a great reel that is light strong and good looking. Can’t wait to get this one and put it to the test. (I️ fish both salt and fresh in Florida and have pulled 5 pound bass and 28 inch reds in with no problems with the sharky 2)
What are you guys' experience with the longevity and durability of the reel? I've had a Sharky 3 1000 one season, and really liked it, although I haven't put a lot time in fishing it. My main boat jigging rod sports a shimano stradic CI4+, but my lighter boat jigging rod sports one of these for shallow water river fishing. I do not see much difference in drag performance between the Sharky III 1000 and Stradic CI4+ 2500. Stradic CI4+ has a slightly smoother retrieve, although not by much. I may buy these for my other fishing rods in the 1000 size.
Just bought it, great reel for under 50 dollars, I also just bought Daiwa bg for 87 dollars great reel too but the sharky is its equal both very smooth and the bail is better on the sharky, I will be buying more
Another Great vid my man. I have 2 of these and couldn't agree with you more. I don't see me spending the crazy money i used to on reels the way i was in the past. Kinda aggravated im only seeing it now, TH-cam is still not sending me notifications despite me having notifications on.
Just a suggestion to KastKing they need to appeal more to the Ultralite fisherman I normaly use spinning reels 6 ounces or less that hold at least 125 yrds of 4 lb mono. I'm sure EPF completely agrees with me. Sharkylll 1000 when they put it on the market is when I'll be a customer.

I have a couple of the kastking level winds and two of the mela 2's (2000 and 3000 size I think) and absolutely love them. What size were you reviewing for the sharks 3?
Thanks for the reply. I think a 3000 would be a good all around reel for me around where I fish. I'm hoping to use it for the bass and maybe for surf perch.
I have Shimano reels that are 20 years old and after heavy use still work well. I don't know if KastKing reels will last that long. Nobody knows as they have not even existed that long. When I hear about reels claiming quality after a year I take that with a grain of salt. I bought knock off spinning reels on sale at Walmart for $5 that my kids learned on, and they too work after a year or two just as good as they did new. KastKing deserves the test of time, maybe they turn out to be really good quality in the long run but this is all speculation at this point. When you pay for a high end reel that has decades of proven quality and performance you are paying for something proven. I will pay the same money for a Pflueger over a KastKing any day as I know what I am getting for my money
Not to mention that Shakespeare ugly sticks have been around since 1897 lol. I love the new GX2's. And to be honest when I read reviews on rods and reels you gotta take it with a grain of salt because I saw someone catch a 19 lb catfish on a Dock Demon and I bought a Dock Demon at Walmart last week, I had to take it back because the Bail broke when I got home. And I just bought the damn thing lol...
agree'd however, just because the company has a rep for years, doesnt mean the latest 2018/2019 reel will be just as good, its new too... im going to buy a couple of kastkings as i have a nasci (1 kingy and it burnt the drag washers and bent the pinion/anti reverse) and a few others i use for softbaiting/kayak fishing, going to put the sharky III and megatron through their paces. im actually a sucker for innovation and like that KK have that going for them, but i mean, spec's alone. what you get for your $$$ on kk reels, its hard to pass up. right.
i'd just like to add a reply as i have been using my sharky gold for a few months now, at least 100 hours on the beast. ive landed fish after fish with it. done my first service and regrease/oil up and still as flawless as the day i got it. I even pulled in a 7.5kg ish (91cm) eagle ray on it.. using the superkast 9 30lb on a backbone elite rod. what a monster. I was freaking out loosing so much line to her, i wound on the drag slowly until about 3/4 and she started to slow down. landed it and released. testament to the sharky gold.
In my experience and that’s all I’m going off of. I have tried a few kastking products and the quality has just not been there. I have never tried the sharky. But the baitcasters that I used were good for a week of hard use and were broken. For 40$ you can get a pfleuger Trion and it is very premium quality I’m not bashing kastking just sharing my experience.
the truth is, reeling in isn't that smooth, I casted out a 3 oz weight with 3 two inch pieces of fish as bait for small sharks, just reeling that in with no fish attached felt like I had a fish on, I can't imagine how hard it would be to reel in a big fish.. at freaking all!!!!!
I enjoy your content in your channel very much but these kind of videos are disingenuous you need to disclose that you are being compensated for doing this Buy kastking monetarily or by them giving you free equipment.
shane wiley everything this man said was spot on. I own one of these reels and it is AMAZING,especially for its price. I own many other reels that cost 2-4x the cost of the Kast King SharkyIII and the KKS3 is every bit as good if not better concidering the price. My man Capt Mikey here is a solid dude and is doing everybody a service by spreading the word and saving us a buck or 200. His response to you was solid and he def didn't need me to come in and defend him but Capt Mikey is always above board with us. He is honestly probably one of the most genuine guys out here. You probably could've handled your comment with a little more tact and maybe asked him if about any endorsements and he would've given you a straight answer for all to see as he did. I don't usually let stuff like this bother me but with all the REAL disingenuous content creators on TH-cam I feel like you missed your mark here bud.
Mikey, here's an interesting video topic for you that I bet most people don't know....google up Pure Fishing Corporation. My company does work for them and you'd be amazed at how many brands you think are "competition" are actually owned by the same company. Abu Garcia®, All Star®, Berkley®, Fenwick®, Gulp!®, Mitchell®, Penn®, Pflueger®, SevenStrand®, Shakespeare®, SpiderWire®, Stren®, Trilene® and Ugly Stik etc are all owned by the same company!
reely? ha. i hooked a kingy last week took out 100m in about 4 seconds. almost at full drag 11kg (burnt out my drag and buckled pinion/anti reverse on the nasci 4000 with 30lb Jbraid) if i had a megatron or 5000 gold sharky III i think i may have actually landed it ... (fingers crossed, cant wait to try them)
I believe that Shakespeare rod and reel company are great but a Qutenum reels are better than kast King reels but it's my opinion doe's that count any turning heads .
i wonder why you always see lower level , lower subscriber , up and coming youtubers trying to make it in the fishing community advertise and review kastking but the big name popular channels dont???
Any know what the he is using called
Agree with you...I got sharky III 4000, it's very smooth, really satisfied with it...planning to buy one more for my other rod...
Great video Mikey, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Gonna buy one now. Just curious which model was he using in the video? I do a lot of inshore
Thanks
Just bought me a kastking sharky II
Couldn't afford the sharky III, but idk I felt safe. Hope it is worth it.
I'm willing to go out on a limb and give it a try, I been using Shakespeare Ugly Sticks for 25 years and never had any problems with them at all. But reels that cost anywhere between $150 - $300, they better do some magical shit out in the water for sure...
Loving the Sharky III!
DEBO'S Fishing hey Devo's I'm going to get one in the 1500 size bro to do some ultralight spinning and burn some mutant tilapia here

Nice review!!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!
I wanted Shimano with quick fire 2500. Can not find em. Is Sharky durable. Is this same real Sougayilang 13 ball plus one?
Thanks for doing this Cap'n Mikey. I always wonder the same thing.....should I upgrade from my $100-150 dollar reels to a REALLY nice one. Of course that would be the first one I accidentally kick off the deck and into the water!
What size rod should I pair a sharky 3000 with,i fish for striped bass and catfish..thx
I ordered one kastking reel and was so pleased with it, that I ordered 2 more!
I’m going to buy one 👍
I BE GETTING THE SHARKY 3 BAITFEEDER 6000 THIS WEEK BY MAIL ,GOT IT FOR $43 AT AMAZON PRIME SALE

I know absolutely nothing about saltwater fishing so I'm gonna have to take your word on this one. hahaha
Just bought it, great reel for under 50 dollars, I also just bought Daiwa bg for 87 dollars great reel too but the sharky is its equal both very smooth and the bail is better on the sharky, I will be buying more
Great video and it's my next reel just in time for pre-Spawn action
Absolute perfect reel. The last 40 reel i buy'd are ksstking , i can buy 3 to 4 top reel for the price of one shimano or diwa
Another Great vid my man. I have 2 of these and couldn't agree with you more. I don't see me spending the crazy money i used to on reels the way i was in the past. Kinda aggravated im only seeing it now, TH-cam is still not sending me notifications despite me having notifications on.

I normaly fish from when I can barely see in the morning to barely being able to see at night. Yess that means all day long. Normaly 3-4 times a week.
I just got a kast king bait caster reel and it's pretty nice
Please do an update video comparing this reel to the Sharky 3 Gold.
I bought centron spinning combo 4000 I really like it...
Is there any video yet with an actual fish hookup? Or a stress test on the reel..
SawGrassBassin ill check it out.. thanks!

Great reel….super light and as smooth as my Shimano stragic. I won’t ever buy an expensive reel again.
I want a 2000 to put on a lightning rod shock for finesse bass
Do a ollies challenge please
Saltwater - How does this reel hold up to saltwater compared to Penn Pursuit 2?
It’s better
good review
Like the flag in the back👌🏻 are you a dual citizen or what’s up with it?
SawGrassBassin ahhh that makes sense. It looks good! I’m a dually as well
Awsome
I have Shimano spirex 4000 wobble much
Very versatile reel and tough!! been using this for a year now and still working great!! Videos on my channel

Diawa crossfires are better
good video but you don't need 175 yards for any fish that I have ever fought
reely? ha. i hooked a kingy last week took out 100m in about 4 seconds. almost at full drag 11kg (burnt out my drag and buckled pinion/anti reverse on the nasci 4000 with 30lb Jbraid) if i had a megatron or 5000 gold sharky III i think i may have actually landed it ... (fingers crossed, cant wait to try them)

Not the ones i got.

Bass fisherman don't need this type of power 😂😂😂
