Here's a hint: get a piece of thread and thread it through the spring like it's a needle. Then tie the thread together into a large, loose loop. That way, when the spring goes flying off into the abyss, you'll be able to find it because it has a thread on it. Once you get it into the right place, just cut the loop and pull the thread off. Also, tweezer pliers were a very big help.

Perfect! I'd watched 3 other videos, and 2 different iFixit guides, and all of them were utterly useless at showing how to reassemble the triggers. Then I found this video, and I had it fixed in 30 seconds. Thank you!

I have long nails so squeezing the spring to get it in the right position was quite difficult, and I found it WAY easier to just place the spring on the peg without any tension and then nudge the top part of it into the groove afterwards to give it tension.
when doing this, i highly recommend getting a toolkit that comes with a specialized tweezers for this. when you pinch the springs it could launch from out your fingers and it’ll be a HASSLE looking for it.
Spent 3 hours in total on my controller. 1 hour on this fucking spring, then it flies out of my hand and goes missing. I want to die

This video was really helpful, the other ones I've checked before didn't have the close up as this one. It allow me to understand where I had to place it, after that it was really easy.
It's not in the button but in the enclosure, at least for my model, which seem similar to the one shown here.
by clicking in the button over the spring do you need to bend/damage the spring?

Finally put the spring back, I took out more of the controller so it was mainly just the motherboard and the part I need to put the spring in. So the white rod thingy didn’t block my fingers when I placed it. Took an hour to do this when I realized an easier solution compared to yours.
What is the easier solution cuz im doing it rn?

I just simply can't do it, I've been trying to do it for the past 3 hours. At the moment, my fingers are hurting, red, and I don't really know what to do. You make it seem so easy in the video, but I simply just can't fit it in the L2, I've tried using my thumb and index finger, but nor the left or the right hand works. What am I supposed to do now? Is there somewhere I can contact you, Hoodhippo, so I can show you screenshots of my controller.

Finally did what he did in the video after 4 hours; so relieved.
DELETED XX you might need a new L2 not the spring,if your right one went in fine it could be possible you broke it when playing with it
@@geezt9855 No it is not the L2 that there's something wrong with. I'm using his trick, I haven't put the L2 button on yet.
It could be he has a different generation controller then you,they’re 4 or 5 generations of controllers I’m pretty sure this is gen 1 or 2,I know it’s not 3 and up tho

To make it even easier, get the tips of the spring under your fingernails if you recently trimmed them. Makes holding the spring much easier.

If you're dealing with sweaty hands and fingers, just rip a piece of paper towel, grab and close the spring in and just put it back in place. I did this shit for fucking 3 hours, and triggers work just fine, thank God.
Thank you so much went in to change the micro usb charging port and had to fix the triggers didn't realize springs were in the way putting it back together popped one spring out and kinked another but I got it fixed thanks to you!!

This video is the best of all, but I broke the plastic mounting piece when taking the controller apart initially. RIP my gaming
SOLUTION: simply route the round opening of the spring along the axel of the button that goes into the mounting post of the control body.

Thanks i struggle a bit with the spring. You need to put it in place then push the head down to compres the spring.
To make it even more easier wear gloves 🧤 which doctors wear during surgery so that the spring does not slip right off your fingers
So does the button sit on the spring or does the button slide in between the plastic and the spring? I can't tell in this video.

Please, please help. I think you may be the "life saver" to my situation. I opened up my ps4 to replace cushion under the arrow buttons. My springs fell out. Iv'e watched countless videos on youtube of how to put the springs back and their videos were good but the problem is that the layout on the backside of the R1/R2 buttons for everyone so far are different than mines. It's been kinda frustrating because I have the same version ps4 and controller of whoever bought their system around the same time as me but the layout is different. When I say help I mean please let me know if the bars on the R1/R2 buttons that you snapped in at 1:49 had plastic filled in under them or not. If they are filled then you have the same version controller as me and this is the right video.

i wrecked my controller trying to dissemble it following a tutorial. The springs are both bent and no matter how many tutorials on fixing the l2 r2 buttons I see none of them help with the spring...

You might as well just buy a new one its impossible to grip that shit without it messing up
i just take a thin strip of duct tape, maybe 2mm wide and wrap the ends close together(loaded), slip it under the little hook and then pull the duct tape right off and it snaps right into place.

Hello today I was trying to fix my analog stick but when opening the controller the r2 and l2 came off and now I can’t but them back on correctly because I think my springs aren’t on how they should be,do you think the controller needs the springs to function properly?

I tried this along with putting the spring onto the actual back of the trigger like everyone else suggested. Neither worked.
I tried to do mine, but it flew to some unknown location in my room instead of landing on my giant desk.
