It’s a TV prop not a legitimate championship. It has no prestige. Maybe it did in the territorial days but soon as wrestling became mainstream they were nothing but props.
When the belt returned in 2002 as the 'World title' it still should have had the WCW history/lineage and this current world title should have followed suit. That's what makes a championship special is it's history and the big names that have held it in times gone by.
Bischoff says when he takes it out and holds it that it was the same belt held by many in the industry. The belt last held by triple h himself before the undisputed belt was made...so it was that bgb. probably due to Vince and his ego would not allow the lineage to be linked. BUT THE US title on TV right now has the same lineage as the one that was held thru JCP/WCW So honestly who knows why it wasn't linked.
Agreed... WWE pretty much killed off the lineages of most of their titles like The NWA/WWF/E Women's Title (1956-2010), The WWWF/WWF/E World Tag Team Title(1971-2010), The WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Title (1991-2007) then starting a new WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Title only to kill it off again (2016-2022) as well as the WCW/WWE World Title (1991-2013) & (2023-) WWE is very good about burying or rewriting history as it happened and I would like to think that now that Vince is gone, Things would change but somehow I think in another 20-50 years, wrestling history will be rewritten and the past will be forgotten...
That is a fact very lost to history, so few people were watching WCW during those years. It's not recognized and I seem to remember Dustin Rhodes holding it during that period for a short time.
@@Austintx78721 the big gold belt wasn’t the WCW world title though so it wasn’t the same belt technically. Until like 1997 when Flair got his money back and it became the WCW world title

If you search Google for photos of "Vader WCW World Title" you'll see him holding the temporary belt.
The Big Gold's linage stopped after Jericho unified it with the WWF title. Basically retiring the belt. Nothing after that can be traced back to NWA or WCW.
It's the same with the current WHC and the 2002-2013 WHC. It might have the name and a similar appearance, but there's zero lineage. As the 2002-2013 belt was unified with the WWE championship.

You’re wrong about the part you were talking about the Vegas big gold .. that was actually in WCW when Ric Flair told Hulk Hogan he was the real world champion. That belt was never made for WWE.
It was in 1991 when Flair signed with WWF that he started taunting Hulk Hogan claiming to be "The Real World's Champion". As he still had possession of the NWA/WCW title.
It was briefly used in WWF, but from a legal standpoint, it was deemed confusingly similar in likeness to the actual big gold belt, and that's when they started using the tag team style belt. Then Flair used the belt again in WCW in 1994 in the angle with Hogan. He introduced the belt while in Vegas, and that's how it got the name . That’s just what a championship belt should look like.
