    The Ferrari F8 Spider is the open-topped variant of Ferrari's latest mid-engined V8 supercar - a cara named after its engine - the F8 Tributo.
    The 3.9-litre twin turbocharged V8 that arrived in the Ferrari 488 GTB has won a lot of awards, you see. So when they introduced that car's replacement, they named the car after it.
    And then, as is Ferrari's way, it took the roof off to make a Spider, and this is it.
    The F8 Spider still has that 3.9-litre V8, making 710bhp and 568lb ft of torque, which is good enough to make it go from 0-60mph in 2.9sec and onto a top speed of 211mph. Which should be plenty, even though this car carries a 70kg penalty over the coupe.
    But what else, if anything, do you gain by having a roofless version of the F8? Join Autocar's Matt Prior as he tests it on UK roads, and wonders which convertible supercar you should have: the F8 Spider, a McLaren 720S Spider, or a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder?

      Compared to both the 458 and 488 before it, this is a far cry from good looking. On its own, I'm sure it looks pretty good in person, but it just doesn't have the beauty of... well basically any other ferrari ever imo

      Mate, if I was you I would rather have a Ferrari 458 or 488/Pista.
      F8 is just a copycat of 488, just changing the style outside and up more Horsepower. That's it, very lazy.

      The front is great, with those low wide headlights, but the rear end - i'm sorry, the rear is downright ugly. those black strakes are way too high up and it looks ridiculous. The centre portion is far too narrow.

    Ferrari’s designs are getting too fussy. Hurts being a Ferrari fan this last couple years.

    • @DapperHesher
      @DapperHesher 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed. They just don't have a design ethos, really... especially their flagship sports cars. Some of their cars look great (some are downright legendary), but most of them just don't date well at all, and their lineage just looks schizophrenic. There's something to be said about not gacking out the same design every generation like Porsche with the 911 and Aston's GTs, but I think there's a middle ground of making fresh designs with some sort of core identity. You could take a car like the F8 or the Piesta, take it back a a couple of decades and brand it as some boutique manufacturer, and almost no one would be like, "Hey! That's a Ferrari!". Do the same with a Huracan and just about anyone would say, "Looks like a Lambo."

      Too much pressure from McLaren. Lack of carbon chassis puts power:weight ratio under pressure. 800bhp from the McLaren motor puts Ferrari behind on power. Needing to keep pushing out product yet they need to deliver profits for the public markets. Not easy.

      Rod Williams I agree with u that the 720s is much more capable on a daily basis but the pista is faster than the 720s on almost any track. I mean I had to check, I wasn’t sure either. I genuinely thought that the 720s was faster but apparently it’s not. Thou I have to say that the 765lt is another beast. That one is going to be the real deal. On the other hand I can’t wait to see how Ferrari responds. I guess with a f8 “evo”!?

    You’re being overly kind to this car, unless this car is somehow significantly improved over a 488 Spider then the rigidity with the roof down is shockingly bad for such an expensive and highly regarded supercar. Mclaren is in another galaxy in terms of this and although many may not care I personally like the feeling that I’m not giving up anything in terms of dynamics when choosing the convertible version

    So if you cannot do mass market car sales, you make a jack of all trades. Aren't supercars supposed to be bonkers in 1 area and that is why only specific set of people will buy one.
    If you like handling, you get a Porsche.
    If you like jet figher-ish looks, engine and sounds from hell, you get a Lamborghini.

Their history of low depreciation is coming to an end as their product looks increasingly hollow. The Emperor hath no clothes.
