@@ukbondraider to date? I don’t think you meant to say that. Ferrari’s V8 design peaked with the 458 Italia. After that after single mid engine v8 Ferrari was an evolution of that kind of like what Porsche does with 911. But instead of making the pininfarina designed 458 more attractive they kept ruining it. Now we have this mess. The back looks plain weird and the double large tail lights were a bigger statement than these quad ones on the F8. The front end is way too busy and they still didn’t move away from that dated headlight design. Oh and the interior is over 10 years old now. New vents here and there won’t make it look new. Look at the 812 Superfast as well it looks way worse than the f12berlinetta. The design got busier. I understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For example I think the SF90 looks great and fresh and the F8 should’ve looked like that but instead it had to be a separate model for much more money because development costs a fortune and they need to make a profit. Anyway I’m not a fan of modern super cars or modern cars for that matter. The 60s had the best designs IMO.
I think this “our car produces bigger numbers than yours game” has gone too far between manufacturers. A beautiful looking thing but why do these things need to be that quick? It looks utterly unusable why not give it 450/500hp and just make it enjoyable instead of pointless. Having said that this is another great video Harry keep the content coming !
4 point harness is dangerous if not put on as he explained. if you put it wrong in big crash situation the belt will squeeze your stomach instead hold you to your hips.
Thanks for the comment and I fully agree! I see so many people put 4-point harnesses on wrong, I had to point out the correct way to do it. They really ought to be 5 or 6 point but guess that wouldn't be so popular with customers who only buy them for the look. They're also s**t quality too and hard to adjust..
I don‘t get why none of the luxury performance brands make 4 points using adapted 3 point hardware: have one belt left and one right with a fixed buckle each and a belt tensioner including the explosive crash pretensioners on both the hip belt attachment points, and (slightly weaker) belt tensioners with force limiters on the shoulder belts. It would reduce submarining considerably because of the explosive tensioners, it would ease the strain on the neck because of the force limiters (so you don‘t snap your neck and the airbag can do its job), and lastly it would even be more comfortable to put on and drive with (e.g. when you have to lean out a window).
Sums up the dilemma of the modern supercar. Brilliant car, but just by watching Harry's body language, you can see that the power delivery is so ferocious that you seem to be right on the edge when you push it - and Harry is a very competent driver.
Essentially these cars can no longer be driven on the road. Impossible to really drive and enjoy them at safe speeds not to mention legal ones. So as a track car that's sort of still too heavy and posh for the purpose or to just be seen in. We've lost the true road engagement so now it's just look at me and short bursts of noise and enthusiasm. Harry is the GOAT
I have owned four Ferraris. The F8 is my only new purchase. The car is amazing. It can be a daily driver or scare the hell out of your passengers on country roads. I sold both my 599 GTB and my nero 360 3 peddle Modena for it. I should have kept the Modena ad found another finance vehicle.

Controllable? That car looked like it was skipping and skating all over the road. If you don't lose your license for speeding it looks like the ordinary person would end up accidentally side swiping the car in the other lane.
To all those complaining about the in car tech and the list costs, you're unlikely to be the target market or even potential purchasers. Surely this car and the other recent mid-engine V8s are the epitome of Enzo Ferrari's attributed quote that "I don't sell cars, I sell engines. The car I throw in for free". For the money you're paying, you're buying a superlative, class-of-its-own engine. Those who buy accept the CarPlay costs, because if they wanted in-car tech, they'd buy an Audi with three screens or whatever the vogue is.

It seems that ferrari have basically traded the drama of of a great sounding naturally aspirated engine and a manual gearbox for out and out speed. Seems like a pretty shity trade off.
@@mmtot They don't have a choice in the matter, nor does any other car manufacturer. The regulations dictate what manufacturers do today. The answer is to buy an older car like a 430 or 458.

@Darryl Cashman Yes but that means risking your licence every time you want to enjoy your car. Don't get me wrong, if i could get away with it i'd be doing that all the time but in our surveillance/nanny state modern world you just can't get away with it anymore.
Harry nails it at the end and why we are building a home in Italy. As a supercar addict I know I can enjoy my supercars in their full glory on a Sunday morning in the hills around our farm and get nothing but love from the neighbours - here in the UK this car is a one way ticket to fines or frustration. Unless manufacturers start to make low weight, low powered cars for enthusiasts in quiet roads and the heavy traffic becomes nose to tale autonomous driving vehicles for the masses, driving for its own sake is going to be over in the UK. Sad but true - this car is utterly wasted on the UK road and on 99% of the UK buyers.
The more time I spend in France and Italy the more I realise they are so right on how to live life. UK just a blubberfest of ignorance , sweatpants, and awful tats. There is money here but the people are very poor in other more important ways
To all the bores below. Ferrari has to buy an Apple licence for car play and the cost is divided among the hundreds of cars they sell whilst VW etc have millions. Also the wing badges are £500 each 20% is flipping VAT and the wings are special scooped out variants and the badges are long lasting works of art and there is skilled labour involved and it's not a funkin eBay sticker. When you order one just don't tick those boxes if it offends you so much. Imagine a world without Ferrari and a very small number of other builders. Personally the new Stradale has left me absolutely gobsmacked. First time since the F1 Mac Mac
Cheers Mark sick of the schoolboy critism. These machines are masterpieces, only a lottery dream for me, if Ferrari survival hinges on upselling options and selling T shirts etc so what. It feels wonderful to be living and witnessing these works of art and may they reach 100 years ++
I agree with you; it really sharpens up the 488GTB and for me the return to 4 tail lights links it much better to its heritage. As to the performance, I haven't driven the F8 yet but from the experience in the 488 I think they've done a good job of giving these cars effortless acceleration in normal use while reserving the absolute madness for when you specifically go looking for it. And for a turbo it sounds a lot better than it has any right to! Bodes well for any Dino-type car that might be in the pipeline. But I would never drive a car like this as a daily driver. I'd want to reserve it for times when I could enjoy it and not dilute that sense of occasion. After all, if you get used to an F8, where do you go next?
You are so right. I only drive my Ferrari on weekend days in good weather. The thrill NEVER goes away. It runs great, stays clean and looks beautiful. I’d get no enjoyment driving it on a rainy mucky day in rush hour traffic. Now it’s filthy, and you can’t just wash a Ferrari, you have to detail it. (I’m in Vancouver Canada, it’s horrible). On and off the clutch for what??
Honest review! Stuff like this is an ongoing discussion on the Ferrari forum. The sounds is a huge point of contention that frequently gets brought up when discussing the future of Ferrari and ownership.
Cars are too fast now. You can't run them through the gears on the road otherwise you're going over 150. That is why cars like the Miata are so fun to drive. You can redline, shift, redline, shift, redline shift, and not go to prison.
@@richboy900 Lambos just sound annoying to me. But then, I'm not a guy who particularly cares about sound, for me it's the least important thing about a car. If you have to ask, imo the best sounding new engine is the aston 5.2L V12 of the DB11 and DBS
It’s really not that bad when you consider it’s functionality and it’s not overly noticeable painted black. I mean once upon a time people probably thought wing mirrors were ugly.
It's really Apple fault, they charge an insane amount of $ to "allow" manufacturers to put in their cars, Ferrari just passes the cost along to the customer
@@kirubino That's not true at all. Apple doesn't charge licensing for Carplay which is why so many Manufacturers include it for free even on cheap cars.
@@TheCarSouls It is very true indeed, do you really think that Apple gives its products for free? cheap mass-produced cars divide the cost of the license among millions of customers. Ferrari divides it for a few thousand customers so it costs a lot more
I completely agree with your point on modern super cars being far too fast for the road, they're out of sync with other cars and far too easy to break the speed limit repetively. Now they've mastered loads of horsepower I'd love to see the entry level ferrari be mid engines, about 450-550 bhp, nice and light around a tonne with beautiful styling, a much more appealing setup for a road car
I was never a fan of that exhaust. For some reason the muffled scream flicked the switch for me. Either way, the F355 is my all time favourite Ferrari with a possible exception of the F40
I prefer the Pininfarina designs. Less complicated, not as perfect, but with more soul, imho. And the rear of the F8 is too Deborah. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd go for a 911 now.
I remember Clarkson saying this a few years ago and it’s a fair point. Amazing car but they have footed so fast now it’s almost frustrating to own. Funny thing is, EV’s are going the same way, 3.5 secs to 60 is pretty normal now
Except with EVs, you don't have to make compromises to get that sort of performance the way you do with ICEs. Harry literally marveled at the fact that this had a GLOVE BOX, whereas EVs with this performance level are full sized luxury sedans. EVs can also feel like well sorted cars at normal speeds whereas here, Harry is saying it just doesn't feel right to drive at normal speeds. I like the sounds of a good N/A ICE just like you do, but at the end of the day is that ONE factor so great that the rest doesn't matter? Besides, they are already starting to figure out how to get some unique and enjoyable sounds back into the experience of driving. I for one really enjoy the sound that some of these EV motors make under hard acceleration. The whine kind of reminds me of that of a good supercharger, like the one on the Hellcats.
I can’t believe the price of Apple CarPlay, that’s ridiculous, I refused to pay extra for it in my E Class Cabrio as it should be standard like it is in my wife’s Vauxhall Grandland, which is a third of the price. Robbing bastards.
I find modern supercars to be quite useless, although they perform exceptionally. Within 3 seconds you are breaking every legal speed limit in the country. This is where cars from the 20th century really shine, you can actually push them and row through the gears without hitting ridiculous speeds. Although I admit, this car is much better looking than it’s Lamborghini and McLaren competitors.
Completely agree, these current supercars are very impressive but for me would be just too fast. I think a lot of people feel the same. No wonder cars like the F355, 993 911, NSX, 90s and early 00s M cars etc are all holding value if not increasing. Those are the kinds of analogue cars a lot of people want.
Yeah its an absolute joke. They're just taking the piss out if their customers. You cant have engine covers that Audi have as standard at 50k as a 7k option on 210k car. Also I never thought you could have too much carbon fibre. But now Ferrari offer almost everything in and around the engine bay, in carbon, its just... grey. Masses if grey. For 35 grand extra.
If you can afford to buy this car and the maintenance costs involved then 10k options don’t mean anything. This is a beautiful car but not the Ferrari I would buy. The new ones are too fast. I love the older manuals, the V12s etc. A nice 328 would be fast enough for me.
It sounds like a current McLaren, which is not a compliment. The pricing is utterly contemptuous. The styling is too 'cosmetic surgery' for my tastes. I haven't driven one but there isn't much about this review that would make me want to, either. No wonder its predecessors are worth so much now...
As an owner of an F8, I’ll say Harry’s review is bang on. This car is superb in almost every way. Some folks complain about the muted exhaust note, and I don’t disagree. However, it’s very similar to my McLaren...and sadly the result of having to move away from NA ICE engines. Soon enough, even hybrid tech will be gone, and we’ll all be left with only AI electric cars having no soul. But, the F8 is insanely fast, stunningly supple and beautiful in person. It’s the perfect end to Ferrari’s mid-engine V8 run. So much so that while it’s not a limited production car, I see myself hanging onto this one. Although, I do wonder how much it’ll get driven when my SF90 arrives. But, there’s something special about having a piece of the last of something. For that reason, no matter how little it’s driven in the future...every mile produces giant grins.
That's actually free, with the implication being you'll want to splurge £100k on glossy carbon and other junk so that you can have a nice full plaque to show people, rather than an embarrasing baron plaque with "wing emblems" and "colour coded stiching" ticked
So in your opinion, do you think you’d have more fun with something like an F355? Something with less power that still revs like crazy but won’t get you into legal trouble within using the first two gears? I think as a lot of modern cars reach performance figures like the F8 has, it makes better and better of a case for the Ferrari back catalog, maintenance not withstanding.
Our local track has a couple of interesting rules: "3 point OEM seat belts minimum required" and "4 point harnesses will not be allowed." You are allowed to run aftermarket harnesses providing they're at least 5 points with a crotch strap. I'm not sure what they'd say if you showed up with an OEM 4 point harness. It'd be pretty ironic if fitting track options to your Ferrari made it ineligible for track use. The point is probably moot, as I don't think Ferrari is allowed to sell the 4-points in the USA. Oh yeah, if you have anything above 3 point belts, they "strongly encourage" the use of a HANS or similar device.

@@GaudineSecond best looking Ferrari to date after the Pista.
@@Gaudine I like it and I agree that it's more handsome than any McLaren. But that's is subjetive.
@@Gaudine You can't argue against subjective opinion.

They will also break your neck in a serious crash without a Hans neck brace, they should not be legal imo
Very easy to submarine. If race harness, minimum 5pt to be safe.
Porsche made the right choice in the GT3 RS: 5 point harness AND regular seatbelt.
Not just supercars. Even super saloons or sportscars like the M2.
Cup2’s and not a super warm day are likely a big factor too.

I've got to say that I find the sound mega compared to mclarens, the 720s is stunning, fast as hell but it just doesn't sound as light and menacing as Ferraris turbos do. The 430 and 458 were on a league on their own, but as far as hybridization is coming, this loud-sounding slightly high pitched v8s must be appreciated

Watching with a beer happy Sunday all
Harry nails it at the end and why we are building a home in Italy.
Finally someone who understands the difference between volume manufacturers and niche sports car builders. Great comment. Upvoted.
Cheers Mark sick of the schoolboy critism. These machines are masterpieces, only a lottery dream for me, if Ferrari survival hinges on upselling options and selling T shirts etc so what. It feels wonderful to be living and witnessing these works of art and may they reach 100 years ++
Crazy performance figures !. Love the colour of that blue though. £100k of options, makes you wonder why none of that is standard on a £200k car.
If the F8 is too fast for the road, just wait for the SF90!
Fancy bringing out the SF90 Spider before any of the hardtops are delivered!!
@@BMW7series251 Ferrari is taking the piss out of its customers, as Damien @thecarguys pointed out so well on Friday.
The SF90 is AWD! It will probably be even easier to drive and have more traction than F8.
The Tesla roadster is going to be even faster than the sf90

Cars are too fast now. You can't run them through the gears on the road otherwise you're going over 150. That is why cars like the Miata are so fun to drive. You can redline, shift, redline, shift, redline shift, and not go to prison.

I prefer the Pininfarina designs. Less complicated, not as perfect, but with more soul, imho. And the rear of the F8 is too Deborah. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd go for a 911 now.
@sergio lion The manual 430 he reviewed a few months back was very, very appealing.
Harry lightens me up during lockdown. Unfortunately the sound of this Ferrari is underwhelming.
I remember the days when if you told people that you had 300bhp, they would say..... "WOW!!!"
I remember back in the 80s when cars with big V8s were still making well under 200hp...
@@FlowmasterStang are you from the US by any chance? :D
I say wow also when a car only has 1bhp.
I can’t believe the price of Apple CarPlay, that’s ridiculous, I refused to pay extra for it in my E Class Cabrio as it should be standard like it is in my wife’s Vauxhall Grandland, which is a third of the price.
Robbing bastards.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
I always look forward to your videos ,thank you Harry .
I have eagerly waited for this Sunday entertainment, keep them coming Harry!
The amount ferrari charges for extras is insane, carbon engine covers 10k forget that
£2400 for Apple car play that comes standard in a golf.
That car is incredibly beautiful! It's absolutely shocking how gorgeous it is with the lines. That Bleu is also stunning!
My favorite modern car in my favorite color.
This is how love looks like.
Yeah then you woke up
How much do Ferrari charge for the plaque listing the options?
That's actually free, with the implication being you'll want to splurge £100k on glossy carbon and other junk so that you can have a nice full plaque to show people, rather than an embarrasing baron plaque with "wing emblems" and "colour coded stiching" ticked
It comes with car but from memory if you want the plaque in silver instead of black its about £400
The stats are impressive, but man, it's way too overstyled. Not graceful or subtle at all.
Yeah I agree 100%
i agree with harry - much better than a mclaren
So in your opinion, do you think you’d have more fun with something like an F355? Something with less power that still revs like crazy but won’t get you into legal trouble within using the first two gears? I think as a lot of modern cars reach performance figures like the F8 has, it makes better and better of a case for the Ferrari back catalog, maintenance not withstanding.

Great video as always Harry.
I can't wait until you review the T.50! That will be incredible.
