Hope you enjoy our Line Analysis, Planning overview and Q&A! We go very in depth, so if you don't want to watch the whole thing, please feel free to use the timestamps in the description to navigate to what interests you!
46:05 A slope of 53% is not more than 45°. The percent slope is rise over purely horizontal distance, so 45° correspond to 100%. In this case, the angle of slope is arctan(0.53), which is about 28°. Please take my pedantry as a sign of appreciation! This series deserves to be seen.
Excellent job nevertheless, lads. Very entertaining series and I'd consider the trip a success regardless of the technical outcome; the videos are fantastic! edit: that stuff with the brambles was insane, I can't believe you pushed through it
You guys put the hard work in on the ground, and in the planning, very well done, often the planning is the hardest part, when one omission can make things go sideways, and create unseen problems You boys done very well and the vids were bloody interesting
Great work!! Lot of time and effort gone into the planning. Shows some good decision making avoiding excessive risk when you're a fair distance from help. Great attitude towards respecting the land as well. Congrats both of you!!!
Really enjoyed watching this. I knew you'd put a lot of time and effort into the planning but it was awesome to see exactly what all that time was spent on! Really proud of you both and I'm excited about what you get up to next.
Very impressive indeed and glad you survived all the scratches and wading through the cow poo lakes! You obviously planned this meticulously and that's a real credit to you. Now that you're at uni I guess you have less time to plan further ventures in NZ but I hope you do - and that you put them on TH-cam for us to see!
Seeing you do this makes me wish I could do something like this, but sadly, I live in the US where I feel the risk of a landowner responding violently is too high.
1:14:06 That is not a cow, it is definitely male. Difficult to tell exactly because of the position of the camera and the sesitive placement of the animal's leg, so we don't know the presence or absence of the tell tale ball bag, but judging by the muscular profile and how calm it seems being that close to you, I would say that it is a bull.
Yeah! So we both are in our last year of highschool with a tonne of assignments, on top of that we are both doing a first year university maths paper. We also both work part time to afford sport/events like the straight line + save for uni, Finn notably often works 25-30hr weeks. I play football, ultimate frisbee, and do adventure racing, as well as coaching a basketball team. Finn plays cricket, ultimate frisbee and also is an adventure racer. That's the main stuff that pops to mind which the video making is all on top off!

It's certainly pedantry, but it's fairly important pedantry to be honest, you need to know what you're getting into etc.

Yes lads we want the merch!!!
Straight line analysis! I love to see it.

I enjoyed this series immensely. Thank you guys, can't wait to wait a long time for part 2 of your next endeavour. :-)

Another great video. I was delighted to see that you used attack points in your planning navigation!
Learnt from the best!

Really enjoyed that guys, you put an incredible effort into it and an amazing level of detailed planning. I can’t wait until your next big adventure 👍
You boys did really well. I foresee a success in the future.
The main videos were actually really well editted
An impressive effort well documented.
Good summary and great adventure - well done!
Where has the most of your outdoors/expodtioning experance come form? Family members, school, scouting, etc.
Great work on the mission and videos.
Most of it is from tramping/mountain biking with friends and family, and then adventure racing (multi sport races) mainly through school.
Do you intend to try again? The mountainous region might be easier to navigate when the tall grasses die back in the winter
Seeing you do this makes me wish I could do something like this, but sadly, I live in the US where I feel the risk of a landowner responding violently is too high.
Good effort lads, do you think you'll try again in winter?

What was your 'Burdell' score (scoremyline) for the portion of the mission that you completed?
nice video, just wondering, what do you guys to fill up so much of your time to make your life “super busy”?

Amazing effort. Why didn't you recover and continue?
When are you going to go again?
The bible scares me too!
