I'm Norwegian, and I feel like NZ has so much in common with Norway. They are on opposite sides of the world, but both are roughly the same size (Norway is slightly bigger), about the same population density, both have this extremely beautiful nature with mountains and fjords, jagged cliffs and amazing waterfalls. I would love to visit NZ one day and visit this "paralell universe".

Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise!
We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars!
But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, "Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you." [note 1]
Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel!
And there it is, friends! The ugly truth! We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit!
The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth!
Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? What then? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives?
And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people!
So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine!
For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever!
Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment!
And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man!
Trust in me, Whiterun! Trust in Heimskr! For I am the chosen of Talos! I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!

As someone who lives in Aotearoa (NZ) it was really nice to see someone make a video on our beautiful country, I always feel like we’re underrated because no one really knows the country exists,
So here’s a few fun facts about NZ:
    1. You know that famous Windows picture with the arch rocks? Yep that’s in New Zealand! It’s at the top of the South Island Golden Bay, Wharariki Beach.
    2. We have about 85 Native birds.
    3. We were the first to let women vote!
It’s a very beautiful country, come visit us sometime ❤️🫶🏻

I visited New Zealand back in 2004 and like you, was blown away. So I moved here two years later. Still amazed by the beauty of it. :) The catch (you asked)? Housing is incredibly expensive and many houses are not properly insulated or heated. Well, many things are expensive and/or not available here, which can lead to less consumption (a good thing, in my mind!). Still, I love it here and am secretly happy that we are left off a lot of maps. ;)
If you come back to the North Island, drop me a line - my husband works at Weta Workshop and can arrange a behind the scenes tour for you. Look forward to seeing your video about the south island!

The trip was beyond amazing. I’ve been to Iceland and I loved it. But a trip to Iceland took me about 2 full days on the plane. Whereas flying to Queenstown only took 3 hrs. Having visited NZ in 2005, I noticed it’s absence from the map immediately. I was there for 2 weeks training for a new Japan-based job, and spent the first getting trained in odometer fraud detection at the company’s office in Auckland, then spent the next week doing a clockwise tour of the North Island as I visited customer sites by myself and inspected their vehicles. Had a blast doing it and got to see a lot of the beautiful countryside as I went. Almost everyone I met suggested I check out the South Island…so that is a bucket-list item for a future trip!

You mention Iceland constantly being on people’s bucket list while NZ is often left off - I definitely have noticed a lot of similarities but in general they’re both unique - I think Iceland is generally so much closer, tourists I speak to here often say they wish they could visit NZ but it’s so far while Iceland is so much closer! It's all about perspective. If you live and work around concrete, mountain's are special.
Spend your life around mountain's, it's just a mountain

I wonder if Gen X Americans maiGht be more familiar with NZ? There was a popular TV miniseries titled “The Thorn Birds” based on Australia’s best selling novel. Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to visit NZ after watching the series!

Sadly I think a big barrier to entry for people traveling to NZ is the cost. For example for me to fly round trip from Phoenix, AZ to Christchurch in September it would cost me $1,198 whereas for me to fly to Reykjavik it would only cost me $461. Not to mention the general cost of everything is alot higher in NZ. So I could understand why someone would pass on a ticket that is double the price and opt for another place sadly. But I dream of going to NZ one day.

Been to NZ in 2017 and feel like it's my soul's home. I hope that I'll be able to move to NZ one day.

As a Kiwi, I appreciate you noticing us.
Also, on the upside down map thing, you know, compasses work by basically floating a magnet in water. The north end of the magnet always points north. However PLOT TWIST magnets attract to OPPOSITE poles. We use a compass to point north - but that's actually magnetically the south pole of Earth attracting the north pole of your portable magnet.... which means technically Antarctica is the Earth's North Pole. And all the maps should be turned down and NZ should be on top. And probably make it 10 times bigger...
