Boomer is really starting to take shape!! Adam does amazing work!!! And congrats on quitting smoking for 3 days that is wonderful. Everyone keeps harping on me to quit, and I probably should since I go to the academy in a few months LOL. But I am a stubborn sort the more someone harps on me the more I will show them no I don't. I think its a German thing, that is what dad says I get it from Grandma, but when Grandma was alive she said I get it from Dad and Grandpa. LOL Either way I got it, they tell me I can't do something I show them oh yes I can. LOL And OMG that sun set and mountains were beautiful Rick. Thank You!!! Just a suggestion,....A one piece gull wing type door would be super awesome,....opening the whole side at the touch of a remote, & drop steps....WOOOOO Im so stoked about this project,....been watching, anticipating since the inception.....Kudos to Adam...
When Boomer is done you will have the best of both worlds in an awesome truck. You both seem to be doing quite well in giving up tobacco, when I quit I got a little grumpy according to family members.
Saw a craigslist ad for a 65 chevy c30 dump truck that looks to be a good rescue project. Its not far from where I live. Really like the videos. Google craigslist springfield,Il. craigslist 1965 chevrolet dump truck. Not many details in the ad but looks solid. Thought I would pass it along.

Boomer is looking great!! Adam does a great job. I hope and pray you can get through the temptation to light one up. I have seen some people quit cold turkey and others that quit only to start right back up again. I think you have the willpower to stick to it. Good luck my friend. I really enjoy watching the build of Boomer. This is how projects get built in the real world. They take 3 times longer, cost 3 times more and frustrate you 3 times more than you expected. Adam´s work is just out of this world, he deserves a bonus at the end of this build. I would have written this comment in cursive but my computer wouldn´t let me.
Adam started work on Boomer in April of 2014. All of the work has been done in his free time and I will never rush him. He does have a bonus coming. I found and purchased a 1958 Chevy Viking cabover for him and will be helping him with parts so he can build a dream truck of his own after Boomer is finished.
Great work Adam is doing on Boomer Rick. Fine job all round keeping it real ....excellent shots with McFly on the ending, your getting better at your piloting skills man good job! Jay
Practice makes perfect on the piloting. Still have a ways to go, but getting better. I have never regretted having Adam in charge of Boomer. He is a perfectionist with amazing skills. Thank you. -Rick

As I listened to you talk about your building and putting one door on it the thought crossed my mind that a single door on the end of the building would allow more access than on the side like the building Adam is in. I am looking forward to seeing Boomer completed.

Kind of hard to stay quit when your partner is a smoker. I quit close to thirty years ago after being a heavy smoker for years and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Had to cold turkey it as gum, patches and that stuff did nothing for me. People that say they can't just don't really want to. Proud of ya, Rick!
Rick it's good to see an update on Boomer. I'm building something similar, a 1958 Ford Big Job crew cab on an 07 F350 King Ranch chassis. It's one of the reasons I was trying to meet up with you last fall while I was up there.
Hey Rick, a friend years ago buried a piece of I-beam with large 4" rings chain under his cement slab for his body shop. Left two rings above floor. Always had a solid place to hook things to, like straightening a frame etc.
Check out chain pits. Basically 4 to 6 in pipe set vertically flush to top of concrete. Have a steel cap you can lift off. Inside would be large chain you can hook to for same reason. Nothing to trip over. Not expensive or hard to make. Smooth floor to use.

Worked in concrete for years and that's the best way to do it put your poles up first and then poor your concrete. But be sure to put tar on the bottom and sides of your pole that's going in the ground that way it never rots off..
Hey,Rick and Jamie! Boomer's looking good-I've been wondering what was going on with the truck. Seeing all those doors with REAL mirrors on 'em got me wondering if you might have a set of FULL SIZED West Coast truck mirrors that would fit my 1954 GMC 350 Conventional Cab. I can't find ANY that fit the shape of my doors! (Same doors as the pick ups.) I have a set on it,but they're not right for the L. '47-E. '55,and they're cobbled on with home made brackets and re-shaped ends. Also,do you know anyone who might overhaul my OEM radio? I sorta like the aftermarket stereo set ups but they're pretty completely out of my budget,unless maybe they offer a plain ol' AM/FM radio.
I would love to own a lifted 50s crew cab power wagon, not overly high but just enough to have to step high up to get in and maybe six by six just because
Adam kept mentioned F-250 @1:58 which is ford designation when talking about the cab, when Boomer is a GMC...... I love the lift on it. LoL.. Is it a customer's truck or is it going to be your truck Rick? And why is the lift so high? This will even be a lot higher than gofer. Again at 5:02 Adam mentioned Ford floor? What was that big white truck you just finished that sat in your garage or lean too for so long that you worked hard on? Also Rick, is body work on these Chevy's and GMC's your specialty? What is your actual skill.. A side story, I worked with a guy that his hobby was restoring cars and trucks. He had a beautiful Mint Green 55 Pick up truck. What was Ironic, he never welded, he riveted everything together and the rivets had counter sunk heads.. He claimed that welding caused a lot of distortion and the rivets did a much cleaner and nicer job. His work was really beautiful, however since I worked with him for 4 years and visited his garage a few times I don't know longevity of his body work. I watched him patch the fender if a chevy nova, did it all with rivets and after some hammer forging and using glass, you could not see a wrinkle in that panel. How much do you estimate Boomer will cost or sell for when complete? Looks like an expensive build. Jamie did a great presentation, she's a really pretty host and social, happy, young lady. Are you changing all the lights to LED? I appreciate your videos rick.. sorry I ask so many questions lol.. I do get interested in this stuff.. By the way, all my writing is in cursive.
That is because the "Donor" truck frame was a 2007 Ford F250 King Ranch that had over $100K invested into it. It was originally set up for jumping at sand dunes. At 48,000 miles the previous owner rolled it....which is how I wound-up with it. No, it is not a customer's truck and I have no intentions of ever selling it. My actual skill? I have been building custom cars and trucks for nearly 40-years, I'm a pretty good mechanic, I do bodywork, I design custom builds, I'm an artist.....as in...I can actually draw and sculpt, and I am very good at finding and getting rare vehicles. I've also been know to dabble in producing videos......although whether or not I can claim that as an actual "Skill" is sometimes debated.
That is really impressive Rick, and thanks for the reply. Some of your skill is natural while some is learned. It's a rare feat to have a car or truck down to bare bones and making into a one of a kind. There is a lot of skill that goes into design alone not to mention all the other qualifications you have. You do pretty good with a video camera too, enough that I enjoy whatever you film.

Have you thought of doing suicide doors for the back doors. I'd like to see bigger tires on the truck. Maybe 48" tall by 16" wide. That would look cool I think.

Have you thought of doing suicide doors for the back doors. I'd like to see bigger tires on the truck. Maybe 48" tall by 16" wide. That would look cool I think.
We considered suicide doors, but decided regular doors would be better structurally. Definitely going with larger tires. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
