  • In this one I explain how I modified the stock shocks on my Axial Capra to lower the cg, ride height and maintain all the original flex. I really like it and hope you do too.

    Interesting mod! I would like to apply this to my Capra RTR if possible 👍 Can you show this zoomed in on the part? Cheers

      The small cups that the spring sits on just drill a very small hole just to the side of the center of the cup and use very thin wire to twist tie the spring to the cup so the spring doesn't move around.

    Does this not work well with the original springs for the capra? Can you explain why the scx10.2 springs were used over the oem ones. thanks!

      The Capra springs are considerably longer and don't allow the vehicle to sit as low as the much shorter scx10ii springs. Now you may wonder why I don't just change to a shorter shock like scx10ii well then there won't be as much potential flex in the suspension since the shaft movement is much less. Hopefully that was the info you were wondering about.

    How do you find this mod works when climbing steep rocks? Does it help keep the front shocks from unloading?

    • @rrdeanie
      @rrdeanie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it helps quite a bit from stock shock setup. Nice mod for a little wire and a few springs

    also whats springs are you running in the stock shock and how many millimeters are the springs

    • @rrdeanie
      @rrdeanie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are scx10ii springs that are wired to the clamping spring cup retainer

      @@rrdeanie so is the top of the spring not actually secured to the top of the shock?

    • @rrdeanie
      @rrdeanie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vypr5834 yes that is correct, the spring is wired to the spring cup retainer thru a very small hole that I drilled into the cup

    lol. securing the spring to the bottom of the shock doesnt make a bit of a difference. you think the shock cares if theres a gap at the top vs bottom? nope, still has the same exact effect.
