Lol.... me and my friends call all $5-20 decks "kitchen table decks". Sometimes we play "extreme budget decks". Which basically just means, no more the $10. There really are some fun pauper decks out there, that cost less then $10. We started playing Extreme budget, because half of us wanted to play pauper, while half of us just hated the 6 uncommons rule (Me included, I think it should be 9 uncommons.) I didn't really like playing extreme budget at first. But I love it now. It genuinely feels like the best player/deck builder has the advantage, instead of the "rock, paper, scissors" that a lot of formats turn into... plus it lets you actually get some value and play time with your "draft chaft". P.S. also... praise the algorithm.
@@backlogbrood2451 if I were running events, I’d just agree on a platform like Goldfish and have a “weigh in” date to finalize your deck list before every tournament and then if the prices change after that, no matter. What I like about $ caps for decks is that it forces a quasi-rotation if any cards get too good.
I've been waiting for this! I made a 1$ madness deck, posted about it on Reddit, and got 710 upvotes as of this morning. Budget constraints squeeze creativity out of my brain. :)
Dev,there's a very good reason yours was the first MtG centric channel I subbed to and that reason is you yourself. Channels come a long way and I always look forward to your stuff, especially the budget stuff. Hope the Holidays and New Year are great for you and yours.
That was my first sponsorship skit that I truly enjoyed. I was opening up my doordash order and felt like I was really in your house for the holidays. Cheers Dev, hope all is going well.
this is probably my favorite Dev series and there have been several times i have built all 5 of the decks and put them together in a little deck box for playing with a group of buddies to grab a random one of the 5 and play against each other. Dev does a killer job with them

100% agree about Red Dragon. I have put that card in every dragon deck I've made since it came out. Always fun to end the opponent with just an ETB trigger.
I like these as sort of a "board game experience". Where you have these ready and you can just choose one and battle it out against another with a friend.
These decks look fun. Might put all of them together so I’ll always have decks on hand to teach people the game or when friends pop in without their stuff. Great video Dec! Merry Christmas 🎄!
Oh, I'll definitely be playing that Red Burn deck on Arena! I only have two Light Up The Nights, though, and I don't want to spend WCs on it, so I'm swapping in two Rowans. Unfortunately that breaks the $5 constraint, but my opponents won't know about that anyway. In the Drake deck, what are your thoughts about swapping out two lands for Vastwood Fortification? Another 1-mana instant for Delver to hit that can double as a land in a pinch.
Early update: played the Drake deck. Game 1, turn 1: Ruin Crab. I scooped on turn 5 when I lost 26 cards to Tasha's Hideous Laughter. So... it can only get Strictly Better from there!
The only problem I see is that snow lands are not accounted for, which is Wizard's fault, but devs. If I get these for a battle box of some kind, I'll just write snow on the lands I'll play haha
Ever since I gave away my old collection, which included a good deal of Ice Age cards, I've wished I had snow lands. And every time I think about buying them, I'm appalled by how expensive they are.
19:42 I love Red Dragon with Delina Wild Mage. Delina is on the affordable side cost wise. So if its an agro red deck, its a nice option to close out a game
Built similar simic delver/drake deck. Wild Shape is fantastic in that it can give hexproof, pump with trample, or surprise with big booty reqch. Got outshined by snakeskin, but I play both.

Unless I missed it, you didn't mention anywhere how well these decks would work on Magic Arena. I've been testing them out there and they work quite well. Now I need to tweak them a bit so I'm not just slavishly using the results of your efforts.
Drake gives me an idea for revisiting Azorius spellcraft. It's probably not as good as it seems, being another 2-drop in a deck whose best creatures are already 2-drops, but I'mma try it anyway. Cheers! *edit* Mage Duel is a common that's worth considering in the drake deck. Can you imagine the blowout potential of paying 1 mana to make your drake a 3/3, draw you a card, AND kill something? And then if opp tries to blow you out, you veil it to make the subsequent fight and attack even better?
I'll be honest, I don't need a $5 deck. I'm more in the market for a ~$50 deck to use at fnm. I'd like budget competitive decks, not ultra budget decks.
I think that $5 standard should be it's own legitimate format.
It'd get me to play standard, that's for sure

i agree, although it's hard to do it since prices always change! :(

11:52 “You can be evil on a Budget”
Dev, I will personally help you design this as an MtG Themed shirt
YESSSS $5 FOR $5 BETTER THAN ARBY'S, SON!
Also, I'm obsessed with your sponsorship bit.
Gotta say I missed this style of content. Budget decks is what im here for
I feel like editing Dev really deserves more of the spotlight.
Love these types of vids!! Feels like the ol’ days of SBMTG
I've been waiting for this! I made a 1$ madness deck, posted about it on Reddit, and got 710 upvotes as of this morning. Budget constraints squeeze creativity out of my brain. :)
Saw your post there, really enjoyed it and it made me think of Dev too lol
Jerry and editing dev rule
And kev too
Dev,there's a very good reason yours was the first MtG centric channel I subbed to and that reason is you yourself.

Same here!
Love to see more pauper decks
I must say Dev, that hair keeps getting more glorious !! then i noticed the cat grooming you, and thats a class act. Love yer werk
Perfect timing for midweek magic and historic pauper - so it works on multiple levels. Love the intro and sponsorship Dev!
That was my first sponsorship skit that I truly enjoyed. I was opening up my doordash order and felt like I was really in your house for the holidays. Cheers Dev, hope all is going well.
In a world of net decks, you are a rare flower.
Never stop brewing
Never stop spitting ... Rhymes
5 for $5, my favorite show, the one that made me subscribe to your channel years ago. Thanks Dev!!!!
Dev, I bought four of these decks and they play amazing with each other on the kitchen table. Thank you and Happy New Year!
These $5 deck vids are my favorite kind of magic content
Yesssssssssss! 5 for 5 budget decks! Also really love your sponsorship bit :)
I'm so glad to see Heirloom Mirror on here. The card is strong, I think the sorcery speed activation is the only thing holding it back from more play.
Yes! 5 for 5 is the best video of the year!!

I want a vintage version of this series
I wasn't expecting Jerry! 😂
This is why we come here Dev!!! Loved it!!!
Oh heck yes. Honestly, fun paper Magic on a budget is better than "grinding to Mythic" Magic with unlimited resources. Thank you!
Best take on Spaceballs I've seen probably ever
Bruh that ad integration was so good
You totally nailed the paid promotion! Worth of every bit of watching
Always happy to see people sponsoring dev
100% agree about Red Dragon. I have put that card in every dragon deck I've made since it came out. Always fun to end the opponent with just an ETB trigger.
Great stuff, Dev. All these decks look fun. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. Cheers!

This is a fantastic batch of decks you've got here. Well done!
Love the intro lmao hilarious 😂 Great video and great decks. Happy Christmas!!
My first Christmas watching this Channel.
Cool video, it's fun to be here.

@@ernestvanophuizen461 love mill right *eye roll*
Love these videos! Found your channel from the Ravnica decks you made, been watching ever since. Cheers Dev :)
The only problem I see is that snow lands are not accounted for, which is Wizard's fault, but devs. If I get these for a battle box of some kind, I'll just write snow on the lands I'll play haha
Yeah, I just say they are either all snow lands or all not snow lands.
Ever since I gave away my old collection, which included a good deal of Ice Age cards, I've wished I had snow lands. And every time I think about buying them, I'm appalled by how expensive they are.
Hey dev and the chicken, we love you brother
19:42 I love Red Dragon with Delina Wild Mage.
Delina is on the affordable side cost wise. So if its an agro red deck, its a nice option to close out a game
Yesterday I was just rewatching the last 5 decks for 5 dollars, these are awsome
Honestly that drake deck is so sick.
Omg crab catapult seems like a lot of fun!
Yo I'm moving into paper magic and didnt know where to start with buying cards. This 5 for 5 is legit.
Glad seeing love for underplayed snow cards. Snow lands are fairly pricey for basics though :-P
I paused the video to make the Snakeskin Drake deck on Arena! Finally a deck that interest me in standard, I love tempo!
Where do you buy a 'play with fire' under a 1$ ? what website do you use for you prices ? Thanks
I stopped watching the channel for a few months and Dev didn't look like a kitty-loving Jesus. Now he does.
Always love this vid series, wish we got more of these.
Bokksu is pretty solid, lots of interesting treats
1st ad I've actually watched ...lol well done.
I always look forward to these vids...
first time you said Massive Might... I thought you Said Missive MIKE lol ha ha I thought you where naming the Snail.. an thanks for the $5 Decks..
Yeah Dev! Happy Holidays!
Built similar simic delver/drake deck. Wild Shape is fantastic in that it can give hexproof, pump with trample, or surprise with big booty reqch. Got outshined by snakeskin, but I play both.
that was some nice spice, thanks Dev. absolutely electric list

Colonel Sandurz:
Good work. Set a course and prepare for our arrival.
These are awesome, very excited to try them all.
Crab catapult sounds like a fun deck to build!! Not to mention.....really annoying 😂
Had my eye on the Crab Catapult deck for a while now. I finally got it, but I'm going to pretend my basic lands are snow lands lol😅😆
Your videos r so awesome dude. I'm always discovering so many cool decks
Somehow we all knew that chicken was responsible for grooming Dev.
Happy holidays Dev
Those were some good decks. Gonna try them out over the next couple of weeks.
Any budget suggestions for sideboards for these decks?
This is sick, thank you!
So are these standard? or kitchen table to be played against eachother?
If the latter, can previous 5 for 5 decks be played fairly against these?
Unless I missed it, you didn't mention anywhere how well these decks would work on Magic Arena. I've been testing them out there and they work quite well. Now I need to tweak them a bit so I'm not just slavishly using the results of your efforts.
Finally something to do with all those Charix cards!
how do you find the inspiration/card combos for your budget decks?
Very nice! I actually want to go play with these decks now :)
Drake gives me an idea for revisiting Azorius spellcraft. It's probably not as good as it seems, being another 2-drop in a deck whose best creatures are already 2-drops, but I'mma try it anyway. Cheers!

Will the mono-red burn deck rotate out this fall?
Can you do a $5 or a pauper video for Kamigaua: ND? Love the Channel thank you.
Love it! Love you! Love your content!
Appreciate the content. Sadly, it seems like many lgs are only playing modern now.
Fast fun sheep games
Can you do this for every set?????
Goblin javelineer instead of fire blade charger plz

Good video!!
YUUUH
The best
I love you dev
Chicken is eating you.....
Neat
Yeeeeeesssssssss
Video editing is important and we all know it. It needs more props.
The snow lands alone are worth double the value of the deck.....
