These are still one of my favorite videos. One of the first videos of yours that I watched getting back into Magic years and years ago. I had just started a MtG club for my Middle School Students, and I need ideas to make some budget decks for the beginners to learn to play. I am still a teacher so so still enjoy budget deck ideas. Thanks Dev, keep up the good work!
This video is exactly what I needed right now! I mainly play commander these days, but also want to play some kitchen table Magic at home, just 2 players. The commander decks are usually not well suited for 2 player games. I don't want to build expensive competitive standard decks either, and I know too little about the standard cards right now to be able to construct something that's both fun and cheap. And here you come as a shining knight saving the day with well constructed cheap standard decks! Thank you!
Thanks for this video, super informative and I'm currently looking for a new budget deck, guess I overplayed my regular decks and started getting bored. The only remark I have is that you propose a number of cards will rotate soon, but either way - great deckbuilding, thanks!
You Magnificent Bastard! I am literally atm sleeving up the 10 decks from your 2 Ravnica 5for5 vids. And now this? A sunny saturday becomes even brighter! ;)
Me yesterday: idk what to craft and I barely have enough wildcards to craft anything, let's craft this random deck. Dev today: here are 5 decks you could've crafted if you had waited.
way back when, i got the Venser vs. Koth duel deck alongside upgrading my Scars of Mirrodin draft deck to a casual constructed deck (which was more about artifacts and proliferation, using Venser to reset charge counters on stuff), and the Whitemane Lion (& Kor Skyfisher i upgraded to) in there eventually led me to scratchpaper a deck abusing them with Oketra's Monument, Mentor of the Meek, Bygone Bishop and stuff When the OTJ Faerie was spoiled, i noticed it couldn't do self-bounce loop, but it *was* the most aggressive body we've ever seen for this effect. and also i've been thinking about surprising my friend who's very inexperienced in MtG by showing up with ultra-budget decks to play in person one week instead of the bootleg limited into casual constructed thing we've been trying to start doing regularly i've also just been meaning to scrap together some cute decks to have for myself in case i want to teach anyone else MtG in the future, if i could figure out the right amount of complexity and how to balance them so i started thinking about what recent cards are cheap by mana and $ that i also just like with ETBs; all the cards you included here were on my shortlist! (Resolute Reinforcements was also in my WG go-wide Alchemy deck that i spammed when i came back to give Arena another chance around the last rotation) if i try ultra-budget or like $1-or-less-per-card in a larger format than Standard, i'll check out what kinds of stuff i can do with the Faerie and Abiding Grace. I'm thinking the Orzhov Aristocrats version of Abiding Grace (that I'm wanting to combine with Hidden Stockpile, maybe an Artifact/Enchantment theme or just Bargain stuff with the Stockpile and Myr Servitors) probably just wants death triggers like Shambling Ghast and repeatability through graveyard recursion, Bloodghast-etc. types, yada-yada but i'll also see if there's something i can cook along the ETB/life-gain route instead, with Abiding Grace as supporting recursion.
Came back to watch more decks, and it looks like my first draft of GW Mounts is card-for-card exactly the same as yours : ) the first Sealed pool i opened up had two Miriam in it, and i really like the hybrid design of Seraphic Steed between classic knights and Resplendent Angel, as well as Brushwagg, so i sketched out the list 😊
Oh man! That first deck reminds me of the first deck I ever saw from you: B/W Vampires from original Ixalan. I still miss that deck-- you're pulling me back to standard!
Rite of Oblivion works really well in the pixie deck because you can sack the hopeless nightmare when casting it as well as any tokens you make from the other cards.
T2 Seraphic steed into T3 wylie duke is soo satisfying. By the way, Bucolic ranch is a must in the mounts deck. And this would push it over the $5 limit but with bucolic ranch you can run pretty much any other mount like the Gitrog and you dont even need to run any other black sources
I've been playing with the Orzhov deck this morning and tinkering around with it a bit. Another fun card to play with the pixie: Tithing Blade. Less direct than Shoot the Sheriff, but it's reusable and contributes to the Michiko count!
For the goyf dek, really recommend aloe alchemist. The plot pump is great for applying more pressure on turn 2 and SO MANY games with goyfs are stalled by infinite chumpers in the white and boros decks. Adding trample to the 20/21 goyf has been critical for breaking board stalls. Put it in place of teachings. Big trap to put too many non creatures even if they mill in these decks.
I'm the 600th like :) ❤ I tried your 5 for 5 Foundations decks, Black is over performanced! Very good ones ( I printed out mono Red, blue and black with mtgprint). I love the cards in those 3 decks texts are few, easy to understand and on points. Start looking at these now.
I’ve been playing the orzhov pixies deck a lot in mtg arena. Really good! And extremely fun! Biggest issue with it is once you fall behind, it’s impossible to catch back up.
How i can improve the sultai desert deck? I think this deck need some king of speed like spelunking or some 1 mana monster that accellerate the land accumulation. Any suggestion?
Magic is an expensive game. Dev framed this whole video as 5 decks that are somewhat competitive but meant to play against each other. And these lists include several rares u never see play in pauper. This good kitchen table content.
That Orzhov deck looks really fun!

Ordered these a while back and just got them put together today. Having a lot of fun, especially with the pixies.
Love the 5 for $5 decks!! Been using them to help new players learn Magic for years!
S tier content, these are the videos that helped me find this channel and this wonderful man. Much love Dev

18:30 “let’s (kind of) go!” 😂 this was a great segment and I learned a lot!
I'm so glad you doing this again cause the shop that I go to is trying to get standard going and having decks like helps so much.
24:31 omg that's first "your mom" joke I've actually laughed at in like 10 years.
love this series.

I absolutely love when you do these! Wish you could do them every set
You Magnificent Bastard! I am literally atm sleeving up the 10 decks from your 2 Ravnica 5for5 vids. And now this? A sunny saturday becomes even brighter! ;)
Really cool, need to see more of these videos. Would love to see some game play videos with these

lmao
This is why I come to this channel! Thank you Dev!
!
Dev!
i've been scratchpapering the same Orzhov Faerie go brrrr ultra-budget deck!
way back when, i got the Venser vs. Koth duel deck alongside upgrading my Scars of Mirrodin draft deck to a casual constructed deck (which was more about artifacts and proliferation, using Venser to reset charge counters on stuff), and the Whitemane Lion (& Kor Skyfisher i upgraded to) in there eventually led me to scratchpaper a deck abusing them with Oketra's Monument, Mentor of the Meek, Bygone Bishop and stuff

Awesome stuff! I went ahead and ordered the orzhov and varmints decks! Can't wait to try them out!
Oh man! That first deck reminds me of the first deck I ever saw from you: B/W Vampires from original Ixalan. I still miss that deck-- you're pulling me back to standard!
Green screen? I remember when the only thing on the wall in the back was a crack. Hahahaha.
Love the 5 for $5 series, Dev!
5 for $5 IS BACK!!! LET'S GO!
This makes me happy.
While my shop doesn’t have a standard crowd atm, I’ve been dying to get back into arena and I think these could serve me well. Thanks!
Thanks Dev (:
Love the 5 for $5 decks!!!
I just bought your Orzhov deck. Can't wait to try it out!
Rite of Oblivion works really well in the pixie deck because you can sack the hopeless nightmare when casting it as well as any tokens you make from the other cards.

Managed to get four of these decks into Arena (one was very wildcard-expensive on the top end) and have been having a lot of fun with them!
Thanks Dev, I really enjoy these 5$ for 5 videos you make. I always look forward to them.
Ghired + Urabrak's Forge is really fun!
I've been playing with the Orzhov deck this morning and tinkering around with it a bit. Another fun card to play with the pixie: Tithing Blade. Less direct than Shoot the Sheriff, but it's reusable and contributes to the Michiko count!
Keep making amazing videos about this budget cards U the best
Saddle is sorcery speed!

These decks are sweet! I think the power level is partly due to the fact play packs need all cards to be viable.
Damn Dev, i though you was the card!
I think Dev owes us a coffee ☕️ break or two lol
You my spirit animal dev

What no coffee break
I love coffee
Sultai Deserts should play Spelunking and maybe 1 Dopplegang if you can afford it. Im lovimg all of these lists thanks for sharing!
Been playing the Pixie deck and at low levels Standard it works a treat. Any chance Sir of a video of upgrading the decks? ta
I love these videos! I personally try to make decks similar but entirely from the one set
Doing a rank challenge. Sitting in Plat 4 and going to run one deck until it loose then switch decks. So far five wins with the Orzhov
🃏Amazing decks, keep the budget-friendly content coming! 💸
I’ve been playing the orzhov pixies deck a lot in mtg arena. Really good! And extremely fun! Biggest issue with it is once you fall behind, it’s impossible to catch back up.
you remember that time lol
Can confirm that Cactarantula slaps in draft
Can we get an upgrade video for the first and last deck??
Four Varmints and a funeral, for deck 2 name
I always love these videos. Gonna order these and have a standard night!
Please do more of these!
I’ve been a selesnya hater for a long time I’m gonna give the mounts a chance
Hellspur brute.. I've never seen it..
Lol first let's go. Love you Dev
A lot of green, and white, spells there Dev..... are you going main stream now? XD
Do this for duskmorn pls you are Incredible
Have you even watched Devs video if you don't hear #spreadloveandbekind?
Just a heads up you can not saddle on your opponents turn.
How i can improve the sultai desert deck? I think this deck need some king of speed like spelunking or some 1 mana monster that accellerate the land accumulation. Any suggestion?
I bought the Sultai Deserts deck in paper form. Do you think it will hold in pioneer play? I can’t really afford more at the moment.
I got 5 on it
i think i like jasper flint instead of zoyowa in the last deck. less than 0.50$ on tcg too
Jasper is pretty cool.
🎉
I basically force orzhov in every arena format :(
I appreciate your enthusiasm. But all these decks are very poop in arena. None are worth crafting as there are much better decks out there for budget.
All formats other than pauper are expensive.....so please stop spitting on standard
Magic is an expensive game. Dev framed this whole video as 5 decks that are somewhat competitive but meant to play against each other.

This good kitchen table content.
