Pretty much, I think if only they had a quick reset function the entire experience would be way less punishing, being forced to still complete the race when you already know the RNG is terrible is one reason it's so frustrating I think

Just get the sun sigil from switch, maybe because they fix the glitch or something, the chocobo will automatically go up and left if we hold right, and up right if hold left. After around 2 hour, i get it with 14 balloon and 1 bird, 38s , i remembered get the sun sigil in less than 30m playing the original FFX on PS2
Do you know why it doesn't work on other versions? You never stated why, and I'm just curious. Are you unable to get the Chocobo stuck? Or is it because the birds still collide with you properly on other versions even after you do this?
Here's my guess as to what the coding may look like if([Bird model is touching player model] && isHit == false) [isHit is my hypothetical boolean variable (something that is either true or false) so this function only happens if it is set to false] { isHit = true; (this makes it so that this function does not run again while the animation is playing) hitChoco(); (A hypothetical function that plays the animation start to finish) isHit = false; (allows the birds to hit you again) } From this, my guess is that since the animation does not complete when you hit the time limit the function does not manage to get to the "isHit = false" part that allows you to get hit again. As to why only the original has this, my guess is that they rewrote the code to set all the variables to their default values at the start of the minigame instead of the start of the entire game like this initial release did.
You remember the breeding and racing in 7? They should have stuck with that because it worked and was loved. New maps, chocobos ect would have been the best move
These mini games were annoying, but nothing tops the insane grind needed to beat the monster arena and dark aeons. Working towards a platinum, and it took me about 45 minutes or less to beat each mini game individually. Its not bad once you understand the mechanics.
I can't prove this, but I think this game has a mercy rule. Every time that I've played the game, after ten to twenty runs, the game just decides to go easy on me.
I know a trick that will help a bit on the ps2 Japanese international version or US version. With mcfreeboot and gsm it's possible to force the game to run at 50hz which will make the game run a bit slower and easier to avoid the birds but even like that I gave up. But it helped me a lot wining the butterfly game. As for the cactuar game it was so easy using an auto pause controller. The thing that I hate about FFX is that is extremely easy most of the part. But if you want to make a completionist run it requires stupid amount of excruciating grinding and near impossible minigames to obtain the celestial weapons.
I’ve never really struggled with this mini game. Was kinda a pain, but I’d get it in less than 5 attempts. The thunder plains lightning dodge on the other hand can go f- itself. I’ve never gotten 200 dodges. Ever.
there is a spot that causes lightning to trigger every time you run back and forth to it, turning off ingame music and not counting the dodges helps a lot. set a timer and use that instead of counting. I did 3-5 min intervals, where i paused the game and timer and took a break. do this until the timer reach 20 min and you are guaranteed to be over 200 lightning dodges. that crater spot is well know and should be easy to find if you google it.

Damn I needed this like 6 months ago when I sank 10 hours into this mini game to get 0.0 Edit: oh nvm. PS2 Japanese only. So my suffering was mandatory
I got so frustrated (because just completed it), then excited (because could make it easier next time) and then frustrated (because found out HD remaster has it fixed) when saw the video name. Lol Just replaying the HD version now and did those damn birds just two days ago. I don’t understand why they had to make all the chocobo games in the series so damn bad. But also it feels like PS2 version was easier than the HD remaster, especially with the random control bugs. Last night tried Remiem Temple and got 5 chests only by the accident. In the HD version the stick tends to get stuck and not turn the chocobo there. Probably because of the camera view switches. One time I lost, because just one step before the finish, chocobo got stuck running to the right, while the opponent simply passed me and finished the race. Also can’t remember the control issues in the original PS2 version. As for the Lightning dodges - 198 on the PS2, without No-Encounter and the 199th one hit the mark, making me rage quit the game for like 5 years. Even deleted the save game from the memory card. Little did I know that kind of torture Calm Lands brings later on. Rage Lands would be much more appropriate name for it.
honestly, if they allowed a practice run without birds just so you can get a hang of maneuvering without also having to dodge it would make it so much easier. I did eventually get it as a kid, but needed to accept the failure in advance and focus on just getting balloons on some runs (knowing that too many birds will hit), and on others I would ignore the balloons and just focus on dodging the birds. With enough runs I got to the point where I could do both adequately enough to pass with under 0:0.0, but my god that process was not enjoyable. Minigames should be enjoyable, or at least just a little tedious, not to the point where I need to set aside several hours to pick this thing apart. whew. it's okay, it's okay. struggling again as an adult with the HD Remaster lmaoo, but i'll approach it the same way. or maybe use a different approach, I heard that you can still pass even if missing all of the balloons on the ramp down to the valley so long as you end up in front of the trainer. we'll give it a go this afternoon. pray for me, lmaoo
Dansg08 is right this is satisfying to watch because I fucking hate this shit now for only we can find a glitch to do the 200 lightning bolts instead of that one thing with the tower in the hole 🕳 I would be greatly happy
@@Dansg08 True but still I still have yet to complete it and I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 10 for a long time as well it’s still kind of heartbreaking.
Lol. I never had any problems playing this mini game on my PAL copy of ftx, which was based on the international version. It took some attempts but I finally won and got the sun sigil. But screw dodging 200 lightning strikes though.
Interesting video, good that it can possibly help those whom had great difficulty accomplishing the task necessary to acquire the Sun Sigil. That said, I still do not understand how it is that many people found this race hard. I actually enjoyed the race and thought it was extremely fun, lol. I found it far more annoying to obtain Lulu's and Kimahri's respective sigils. Personally felt that the Butterfly Hunt was the most difficult and annoying mini game in all of FFX.
So the reason why the butterfly trial is easier in my opinion is because the butterfly trial isn't randomly generated. The butterflies, although they move around slightly, are always in the same general location. In the chocobo race, the 🎈 show up in different places and even some of those placements are very hard, if not In to win with. I would say the same with the lightning dodging: although there is some RNG with when and where the lightning strikes (outside of the crater glitch) the flash is a dead give away as to when it's going to happen so it's just more about patience but for the most of it you never even have to move.

Who actually plays a Japanese version of this game now
Here's my guess as to what the coding may look like
if([Bird model is touching player model] && isHit == false) [isHit is my hypothetical boolean variable (something that is either true or false) so this function only happens if it is set to false]
{
isHit = true; (this makes it so that this function does not run again while the animation is playing)
hitChoco(); (A hypothetical function that plays the animation start to finish)
isHit = false; (allows the birds to hit you again)
}
From this, my guess is that since the animation does not complete when you hit the time limit the function does not manage to get to the "isHit = false" part that allows you to get hit again.
As to why only the original has this, my guess is that they rewrote the code to set all the variables to their default values at the start of the minigame instead of the start of the entire game like this initial release did.
This minigame killed a PS2 controller or two.

I am missing literally 1 goddamn achievement from the X remaster. I have been trying for FUCKING MONTHS and it is IMPOSSIBLE on Xbox.
So do it applicable to Remastered version in PS4?
This mini game stresses me out honsetly, i remember i don't want to sleep if i cannot win this game, and i finally win....at 5am :)
Idk why would anyway need a glitch to overcome a minigame that is so easy... I usually succeed it on my first 3 attempts.
I Finally a video i really need. This mini game really gonna thin out your patience😂😂😂😂
Damn I needed this like 6 months ago when I sank 10 hours into this mini game to get 0.0
Edit: oh nvm. PS2 Japanese only. So my suffering was mandatory
how do people find these things
Don’t suppose this would work on the switch version
I got so frustrated (because just completed it), then excited (because could make it easier next time) and then frustrated (because found out HD remaster has it fixed) when saw the video name. Lol
Just replaying the HD version now and did those damn birds just two days ago.
I have yet to discover one for that unfortunately, we're lucky we even have the hole trick/glitch, I can't imagine trying to do it without that
@@Dansg08 True but still I still have yet to complete it and I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 10 for a long time as well it’s still kind of heartbreaking.
Lol.
I never had any problems playing this mini game on my PAL copy of ftx, which was based on the international version. It took some attempts but I finally won and got the sun sigil.
But screw dodging 200 lightning strikes though.
Yesss a glitch I've been waiting for haha
They should add this feature on remastered versions
To me this minigame and the jumping jack in ff9 are the most frustrating in the whole series
I still find it hilarious that I got the Sigil on my first ever attempt of this mini game. Ever since, I've taken 5+ attempts minimum
I finally, FINALLY get 0.0 and as soon as the achievemnt popped the game crashed.
Ground my teeth against the sidewalk for a few minutes, about the same content.
That mini game is such a bastard even glitching it you still can get efffed by RNG.
I'm stuck doing this again.
Too bad it doesn't work on all versions
Does it work on ps4?
The only way I could complete this was to get my son to do it. Then he moved to the other side of the country.....
If they ever remake FFX they shouldn’t make the chocobos drunk again
Tidus is not hard for me what I hate most is Lulu Weapon.
this was easier on ps2 than on ps4, I gave up on Tidus ultima weapon because of this minigame (the jumping minigame in FFIX is also very annoying).
So there is no way to to it on nintendo switch? :(
Unfortunately not
I've gotten all of the celestial weapons except for this one.
Still hate this mini game to this day urgh I've not raged so hard on this
The butterfly 🦋 mini game was the 1 I dreaded most but didn’t matter so much because I would neglect khimari
Absolutely impossible on switch.
Easily got it on my ps3 but rn on my ps4 it’s giving me HELL
Multiple years of playing the ps4 version, and the only things I can't get done aret his race and the remiem temple race(so yay I can't platinum the game!)
Beautiful glitch
Damn I hate that mini game my first time took me over 3 hours wish i knew about this glitch ad had the right version of the game but i can complete the mini game with no problems great to see this thx berk
