I FOUND IT!!! $100 OFF!!! I decided to splurge and go for the full $180 kit - $95 after code and shipping. Thanks Taki!!! Looking forward to getting it when it's released in Jan :) My Christmas is coming a bit late this year but it's the gift that will keep on giving!
A genuine person who puts others before himself regarding pricing. This will go a long way for you in the future. The more people who get into Mister the more you will profit in the long run. Thanks for being cool. I bought a DE10 nano when they first came out many moons ago for around £100 so I am gonna wait til all the noobies have bought theirs before I buy a second one from you. I have looked at Miste FPGA for over 2 years. The DE10 nano price hike made me stop. Thanks to you I finally bought a full stack to play these good old games from my younger days.

HI Taki, I just want to thank you for all the work you have done. You are making many ppl very happy!♥️♥️♥️ I ordered mine from batch 1 and just missed the 3 days for the free shell. So I went on your site today to order a shell. When i saw that there were still MISTER Pis for sale, I just had to buy another one and 2 shells. Before ppl getting mad at me, there is still stock available at this moment & a preorder option...
This is giving me couch multiplayer with family vibes 😭 I totally want one just to play with my 5yr old and show her all the old school games I played as a kid
FYI: a SNES SNAC adapter along with a SNAC level shifter are exclusive to the 2nd batch, which has already sold out. The 3rd batch (available for preorder) has a NFC reader and four NFC cards as its exlusives.
8:32 For those wondering, four is considered “unlucky” because it sounds like or is written like the word for death. Some speculate that this is why the N64 security CIC chips skip CIC-NUS 6104/7104 (otherwise range from 6101/7101 to 6106/7106)… so it’s not just China. Don’t be surprised if there is no button for 4 in a Chinese elevator.
The fact that you used pokemon CC as the example is about the main reason I would want this. I do want a console that I can take my CC file to the big screen thank you for giving me another option.
From what I understand Robert's PS1, N64, and GBA FPGA cores are not exactly "cycle accurate" because of issues with the RAM somehow, but they are still much more accurate than basically any software emulator out there.
Yes, because of Mister hardware limitations, mostly RAM latency if I understand correctly. I have used both the N64 core side to side with my real PAL N64. They are identical in feel with the only noticeable difference being that the N64 core had slightly less and shorter duration slowdowns in busy sections.
GBA is something he wants to go back and rewrite one day, it isn't related to the RAM. It is cycle accurate, but cycle accurate =/= 100% accuracy. Cycle accuracy is not the whole story for accuracy. The PS1 and N64 are not 1:1 either. Personally when talking about FPGA cores saying the words "cycle accurate" is less relevant than with software emulators where it is more difficult to achieve cycle accuracy.
Simply incredible. I think this might completely transform the retro scene. I also expect it to be sold out super quickly and ... then we'll see if the Retro Make company can keep up with demand!
I sold my Mega Sg so i can get a Mister Pi , had enough left over to buy a set of tires for my car. Stayed up all night and morning to buy a Mister Pi in batch 2, didnt want to sleep in. Managed to secure one. Thankyou Taki Udon.
I never had an FPGA board and the last time i played on PS1 and older consoles was 20 years ago, for people like me, it would be great id there are side by side comparison between hardware and software emulation so we can see the difference
I'd love to be proven wrong but I think any differences would be few and far between. Software emulators are building off of decades of iterative work at this point - Years of development, users playing each and every game and reporting back when something goes wrong with the emulation, competing projects copying each others notes, etc. The famous examples a lot of videos about FPGAs cite as the reason software emulators are some sort of problem are edge cases in SNES games that haven't been in any of the popular emulators for over a decade. I wouldn't expect many visually obvious differences on any of the famous PS1 games, but the PS1 had a _lot_ of games.
A lot of people will disagree with what I am about to type. This is just what I have discovered. I think FPGA is overhyped for some reasons and underhyped for others. I also think the same could be said of software emulation. Each has its use cases and what I would recommend mostly comes down to how well each would fit your lifestyle, and what you are trying to accomplish. If you are emulating on a sufficiently powerful machine with a mature emulator the only advantage really of FPGA is efficiency. But it destroys in that category and the small box makes for a great living room item. Running Software versus my original hardware with latency hacks and overclocking options I can make an emulator perform "better" than original hardware. Without all that, there is going be some added latency with input. I never could dial in the input of most emulators with original hardware. I either was a little behind or a little ahead. Weaker hardware will have emulators for them that are not as feature rich and may be less accurate. Have stutter, slowdown, sound pops/distortion, missing effects, etc. FPGAs are lower powered than even these weaker software emulator's machines and far more accurate at this level and often way more responsive. I think handheld/hybrid FPGAs are probably one of the best use cases.
Amazing. Good work, mate. I definitely will buy one of these to play PS1 games. Not now. I currently play on original HW so no urgency for me. Later, once everyone that need one urgently have one then I will buy one. I can wait, but I still greatly look forward to getting one in the future. Bravo. This is exactly what is needed in the retro arena. People with passion. Thankyou sir for your work.
Wow, it’s been about 8 hours since I was lucky enough to get my preorder in. I’m glad I managed to because I completely forgot, and now it’s sold out. I guess there’s no turning back now, but I’m really looking forward to this new device!
Great video Taki! Just ordered the full kit batch 3! Been watching you for years and wish I’d checked out your second channel sooner as I just found out about your console from LTT. Can’t wait to be able to play arcade and console games perfectly, from a single unit. 2-3 months seems so far away at this point lol.
The only thing holding me back from switching to FPGA hardware is no Mortal Kombat arcade cores or other Midway arcade support. If that shows up, I'm ALL IN!
Oh wow, I had no idea that they had modern emulator features like widescreen hacks for some of these systems. That is incredible! To imagine having the best gaming experience next to the actual hardware and still have extras like widescreen that the original can't do. I missed out on the initial launch because I didn't have the money and it sold out too fast, but I see the mainboard is back in stock. I'll have to get one as soon as I can afford it.

Nicely done. I remember getting an import PS1 along with Tekken, bringing it with me to a shop to test out the TVs (needed SCART). I played the heck out of the Tekken series. You're too cool for this day and age. Nice one

I want Taki's handheld FPGA.
Handheld mister console please! 🤩
He's stated this is something being worked on.
Someone did make a custom one on the BitBuilt forums.
This is something that I would get to play games like these.

beating analogue to market on N64 FPGA support is crazy
Beating Analogue to market is not that crazy, actually receiving your order from Analogue is no mean feat in itself.
After not having any luck with batch 1 I could now place my order in batch 2. Thank you so much for this. You did an amazing job for the community!
