#2, since I began carry concealed at age 21, it's made me a lot more level-headed, and less inclined to get angry or react since I know the consequences of escalation come with a lot of weight. In all the years since I have only leveled a firearm against someone once, and it resulted in the guy running away. As for #3, my EDC of choice is a Ruger LCP. No safety mech, but a somewhat heavy trigger pull means it's pretty much not needed and I feel comfortable carrying chambered. Good video!

You gave the CORRECT answer. As a fmr LEO, we would fish all the time. If that query was answered with, "It's loaded in case I need to blow someone's head off..." then the line of questioning would continue and go a different way. As it was, you came off knowing what you were carrying and why. Don't believe he was looking for a specific answer, just needing an answer to ascertain where to go next. Don't know the circumstances, just a thought. Retired now, and it's too hot where I live to conceal carry, so open carry is the rule, not exception. I've been asked 'fishing' questions by cops a couple of times. The answer I give is, well, no other way to put it except Mature. Never had more than one query from a cop at any one time. Even traffic stops, I give my DL and CCW. They'll ask if I have it on. " Yep, 3 o'clock open," is the answer. An, "OK, thanks," is usually the reply.
However, you were in Cali so hats off to you bro for having an ever so brief encounter with the police!

My 'cop days' were 1979-1993. Still revolvers w/o body armour. We didn't freak when someone stepped out of the car at a traffic stop. We never feared pulling a car over for speeding, didn't lose our minds if someone had a pistol in the glove box. People didn't yell at us. Life went on. Different times!

As a federal law enforcement officer in the US Coast Guard, we trained to carry loaded obviously. I retired and retrained myself to carry without one in the hole, and some ask why?
    1. I’m no longer a law enforcement officer dealing with Cartel smugglers or other dangerous felons who I can change their living conditions in a matter of minutes.
    2. It gives me a chance to think rationally. I’ve never had to pull my weapon while walking around in South Florida as a civilian. Driving in Miami everyday you get the middle finger waves while they cut you off in traffic, doesn’t phase me, but some people down here will shoot at you if you play the game with them and wave your gun. I’m just too smart to get baited into that.
    3. A lot of police officers carry off duty and fatally injure themselves or their own family members. accidentally. If it isn’t loaded, those things won’t happen.
For home defense, I’m locked and loaded at night before bedtime, and I put that Desert Eagle back in the safe first thing in the morning, it’s never unloaded. When I leave the house I carry my GLOCK 19 and throw an extra mag in my pocket. I train that way at the range, so in one motion I rack that round when I pull it. I carry that GLOCK, so I don’t have to worry about a safety. I do know that some people have been shot and killed with a loaded weapon in their hand and the safety engaged. “TRAIN THE WAY YOU CARRY”

If your not carrying one in the chamber your not confident enough in your responsibility as a EDC civilian and probably shouldn’t be carrying or need to be training more.

There was an off duty police officer who was carrying her loaded Sig P320 in her PURSE. Shot herself and then tried to Sue Sauer. She tried to blame it on Sig Sauer.

You can't change other people, but there are a lot of trouble causers out there so it might be best to truly conceal if you are not somewhere open carry is allowed. The key word in that sentence is SAFELY! lol Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that get guns just to bully and intimidate people which is so wrong. A lot of people need to understand the difference between an actual threat and you just being trigger happy and pulling your gun out any chance you get. If you don’t have the mature mindset to have a gun you shouldn’t have it in my opinion. You are danger to society at that point.

I'm 63 years old and am too old to go to Jail. By carrying a revolver I don't have to worry about racking. I carried an auto for years until I had one jam on me. I've been shooting since I was 14 years old and worked in private security in high priority locations, Consulates, Government offices, computer centers, etc. and and trained with Federal agents. The touching aspect is very important, most of the time I don't even realize I'm carrying. One example I went into my daughters school and at some point I realized , I have a gun in my pocket. Thank you. Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments to the Constitution) speaks of "rights". Back then before typewriters, words had a broader meaning. "Rights" were "obligations to do what is right". They wrote it that way so it could be applied forever into the future as the technology continued to advance. In our modern world, for most people it is not right or righteous to carry a weapon around with them. BTW, 1st Amendment requires us to speak righteously. We know it is not right to scream "fire" in a crowded theater and the Bill of Rights does not give GROUPS of citizens any rights at all, but various court cases over the years totally changed the meaning of it all. What is "right"? It is what you would want for you or yours in the same set of circumstances.... aka the Golden Rule.

    • @fleatactical7390
      @fleatactical7390 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SunriseLAW A few points/thoughts (not criticisms):
      - We have had a printing press for long before the typewriter was developed. The existence of that media is irrelevant to "doing what is right" as you point out.
      - The construct of "screaming fire in a theater" is one that local laws came up with and was asserted by the SCOTUS. It is not enumerated in the 1A itself. You are correct, though, in that "righteousness" should dictate proper behavior instead of needing laws to do so.
-The 1A, like all the other amendments, is a limitation on the government to prevent "Freedom of Religion. Press. Expression." So righteousness does not exactly come into play under the 1A.
      - Righteousness is learned through a good family or religious upbringing... something that is lacking in most families today, in particular in two segments of the population.
      - Who defines "righteousness"? My concern is that any definition of anything, leads to an avenue for corruption by whatever party is in power. We are seeing it with the 2A and the assault weapons bans around the country today, just as an example.

Carrying condition is a personal choice. Cocked and locked feels good for some, revolvers feel good for others, strikers without safeties carried live or “hot” is the highest risk category and some folks opt to carry them on an empty chamber and although it’s not ideal for a quick draw under immense stress, it does have the lowest likelihood of shooting your own artery.

Only thing I disagree with is when you said if you're not carrying with a loaded firearm, don't even carry.
Sure, you might not have time to load in some circumstances, but that doesn't make it any better to be completely defenseless. At least in SOME instances, an unloaded firearm is no different as you may witness something happening slowly and have time to tap and rack.
The only time it may harm you is if you aren't used to it being unloaded and then forget to tap and rack when needed.
Otherwise, having something is better than having nothing at all.

You really need to watch some ASP.
My draw stroke is very fast, and it is important to have a fast draw stroke for two reasons.
1.) shit can go down VERY quickly and you need to be able to present your weapon as quickly as possible.
2.) bad guys don't go around wearing black hamburgler masks to let them know you're the bad guy, the less time it takes you to present and fire your weapon the more time you have to assess whether or not what you are facing is an actual threat.
In modern self-loading weapons the thing most likely to cause the gun to malfunction is you.
You try to pull your gun and rack the slide and use short stroke it You're going to hear the loudest sound you ever hear in your life, a click when you're expecting a bang then things are gonna go very badly for you.
If you don't feel comfortable caring a loaded weapon go and get reputable training until you do

He carries 1911 which can drop fire.
What happens if he drops his gun and it discharges?
