Yep, I was pretty disappointed when I learned that this show was being cancelled because of the pandemic. You can NEVER have enough of a badass, powerful woman with amazing powers! 💪😁🤯
Cause Netflix is literal crap. The creators of the show were trying to fix it and just have it delayed, but Netflix denied because it "Cost too much money." They were gonna have it delayed till Feb 2021 but Netflix said no. The creators said they feel like they let us all down, but it wasn't them. It was Netflix that let us down.
I needed a show like this when I was a 13-year-old, bi, baptist kid who absolutely despised herself. I'm so glad the younger generations get shows with the representation they deserve.
as a 13 year old bi catholic kid, sydney’s character made me feel less weird and alone. sorry u never had characters like that when you were a kid, i can’t imagine how hard it must’ve been 🌈 💕

This is like A show/movie surely if meant to be a cult classic it will be, minus anything great or memorable. I'm not mad it's canned, yet it's a ok show. Impulse is similar.
Stranger Things can get another season, but not something that's newer than Stranger Things and something that could definitely get you a lot of money with good LGBT representation? 🤨 like, don't get me wrong. I'm excited for the new ST season, but you're cancelling literally every other thing..??
Wait, really? I just typed a comment on how this gave me the same vibes and how both endings were kinda disappointing (got spoiled on the ending for this one). I thought End of the F**king World was finished though... wasn't season 2 already original content?
But wait how? As far as I know, the end of the f**king world doesn't include anyone having superpowers? I watched it a long while ago, maybe I just forgot. I mean, I guess it could just be that anyone in that cast didn't happen to have superpowers but...still feels a bit odd to me?
Antoni Zajkowski the first seasons of both shows take place at the same time as each other with James and Alyssa making headline stateside they’re on a newspaper/news article as an Easter egg which is confirmed by the creator to take place in the same universe
Netflix: *makes show with great LGBTQ+ representation and handles it well* Fans: Love it Netflix: oh you thought we weren’t gonna cancel it? WELL YOU WERE WRONG
I didn't even care that the main character was gay meaning like not in a bad way but I thought it was pretty cool add on there for sure but in general the story of the main character(s) were interesting their acting is so good etc. and wtf they are cancelling this?
turns out making something that appeals to 5% of the population (even less if you factor in lgbtq who actually want this kind of programing) doesnt bring in the audience something more appealing would bring in. Amanda also hits the nail on the head that this sounds a bit too much like 'Umbrella academy: Vanya solo edition' Maybe its too repetitive to keep people interested.
@@swandivemedia9249 Well there aren't that many phsycopaths but "End of the F*cking World" got a second season. Plus "I Am Not Okay With This" is a completely different show than "Umbrella Academy". It has a different atmosphere and a different demographic. I think if this show had as much advertising as shows like EOTFW it would have gotten a bigger audience.
@@swandivemedia9249 I have to ask you why you think this couldn't possibly appeal to anyone who isn't a member of the LGBTQ+ community? If all of these people cannot possibly ever relate to or become invested in an LGBTQ+ character at all in any way, that's...that's part of the problem.
Anyone wanna get a Kickstarter and fund season 2? This show was so cool and genuinely interesting! Totally uncalled for to cancel this and not things like Riverdale or Cuties.
Pretty sure Riverdale isn't a Netflix show. However there might be away to get it revived the way Lucifer went from Fox for its "last season, season 5 and produced for Netflix" to "we're getting season 6 on September 10th." Which threw me for a loop.
I wear to god EVERY. TIME. I REALLY like a series, it gets cancelled. It got to the point a few years ago, where if it looked like a show I would like, I wouldn’t even watch it because I believed it would get cancelled. Then of course, they wouldn’t, and they were on tv so I couldn’t catch up. Now I decide to give a series a go again and this happens. The universe is playing a cruel joke on me 😭 Edit: Saw you play a clip of Everyday Sucks after I posted this, yet another show I liked that got cancelled hahaha. And this one was SO much better. Can’t believe it was offed.
i can relate SO much it’s just sad. the same thing happened with anne with an e (it’s really good, i can totally recommend it, it’s off to slow start, but it keeps getting better and better) and it still makes me a bit upset. it just seems so cursed that every show i like (which often includes well-written lgbtq characters) gets freaking cancelled while trash like riverdale is still running (i know it’s not a netflix original, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s utter crap). at this point i don’t even want to get attached to good shows anymore. :(
I still liked this show despite the slow start, how unlikable Syd was for the first 4 episodes, and that awful cliffhanger hanging, I was still looking forward to season 2. Stanley Barber was an icon.
lol I never expected to read the words “Syd” and “unlikable” next to each other, she was actually my favorite character from the very first episode. Also yeah, Stanley was amazing
Stuff like this is the reason I canceled my Netflix subscription. I got tired of them throwing money at mediocre content, while complaining about the budgets of their decent shows.
Man, I love it when Netflix decides to cancel all of the best shows. But like, seriously, Netflix kind of sucks. Not only are they cancelling good shows and allowing Cuties to stay on there, but, I mean, seriously, what's up with them only having, like, later seasons of shows rather than having them from episode 1? I can't start watching a show from season 4 onward, Netflix.
dang, i was really looking forward to a new season though. I rarely get hooked on Netflix shows but this one got me hooked immediately and i binged it twice. Netflix is just having mistake after mistake. They drag out shows that have already ended like 12 times but cancel actual good shows with a cliffhanger.
DO NOT SPAM THE DIRECTOR! They don’t have much power in this cace and it would only be bothering a really talented person more and more. Spamming Netflix on the other hand...👀
Probably because it's easy to add the effects, plus it's an unpredictable power, which falls in line with teenagers trying to learn how to control them properly. 🤔😁

this was such a good show on netflix, it wasn't 13 hour long episodes with a lot of empty space, it was nice and neat. I was soooo looking forward to season 2 :(
I adored this show, and I'm more devasted over this show being canned than "The Society". Much like "Everything Sucks", it was a short runner which brilliantly explored LGBTQA issues and generally finding yourself. 🏳️🌈👭💘 Now we'll NEVER learn what happened after that whopper of a cliffhanger.
@@fizzycolapop362 Yes, its cancellation was announced the exact same day as "IANOWT"s, likely for the same reason, namely the pandemic and budget cuts! 😭💔
"Never have I ever" was created in pandemic. "Kissing Booth" and "Tall Girl" got sequels on pandemic. "Love is blind" "Nailed it" and those realitys on Netflix overcame the pandemic. No excuse.
OH MY GOD again, Netflix cancels a really good LGBT showwwww. HoW can they still justify paying 100 million dollars for the rights to have Friends on their platform??????
Because Friends brings in tens of millions of viewers, people really need to understand that businesses don't care how artistically inclined or enjoyable a project is, they'll go with the stuff that gets viewers 100%.
How you feel about this was how I felt about The OA....which I'm pretty sure got cancelled after 2 parts and I'm still so SO bitter. And also Anne with an E..... 2 of my favorite shows that will probably never get renewed.

Me and my boyfriend watched in one sitting last weekend (and I finished reading the comic this morning - very dark read but overall really good) and I'm so gutted it got cancelled. It was actually really refreshing take on a coming of age story and I was so relieved it wasn't another Riverdale type show. I related a lot to Sydney battling with her sexuality and her emotions and I think something like this would have at the least helped get through the motions when I was an angsty teen. I hope Netflix does reconsider but with the trajectory they're on at the moment (coughcough Resident Evil coughcoughcough), I'm not sure. :( Side note, I'm loving your videos. They've been keeping me occupied during the current situation with the world. ❤😊
Sucks that this gets canceled after 1 season and crap like The Ranch got multiple seasons. They seem to cancel all of their horror series before they hit their stride.
As someone who has come to finally accept my sexuality in recent years, and considered herself a ticking time bomb as a teenager and would most likely depict that struggle of controlling myself like her powers, and a father who had attempted suicide lately, I think this has the potential to affect me in a very personal way. So I think I'm going to watch it.
Oh god this is the first i've heard of this and i'm heartbroken. One of the only non-comedy series i've rewatched on netflix multiple times. I just really hope another company picks it up but I sadly doubt it.
Due to how popular it was and the likely backlash, Hulu or Amazon Prime picking it up is a possibility IMO. I don't have Netflix, so I haven't been able to watch it, but I can imagine the quips of "We Are Not Okay With This" from the fans.
Yeah Netflix is making some questionable decisions these days. Love the video, the analysis, the "The gay media will not make your child gay, it's just gonna make the gay kids feel better about themselves" and your level of enthusiasm/rage/emotion - I came across the vid over unfathomable algorithm shenanigans but I've subscribed :-D ♥
Honestly i relate to Sydney, I sometimes really get stressed out. It builds up, I try and hold in my stress but it just comes out, I yell at my family and get angry, sometimes I cry because of the stress and I can relate to her because you can see her stress bottling up and exploding to, especially on that one scene.
So glad I get to watch this so early! Also I really liked this show, I'm kinda sad that it's not gonna come back. Also if you want more disappointment, watch the show Daybreak, its really good, cancelled after one season >:(
One of the sweetest scenes for me is when in the middle of all the chaos of the party, everyone running away, Stan went to the trouble of grabbing the diary so that no one discovers Sidney's secret.
i’m so mad that ianowt got canceled. it had a great cast, storyline, setting, with great characters, had representation, and it was left on a cliffhanger! i’ve complained numerous times about the cancellation of ianowt but we must revolt. convince netflix to continue this masterpiece of a show.
I’m so mad!!!!! This was a fantastic show Edit : i really really really hope they reverse their decision and make a second season cause this show was really fucking good.
I love this show, it hurts to know that Netflix decided to cancel it. When I was younger I had a lot of problems managing my anger levels and seeing a character to whom I can relate to is something I never thought it could be possible. Also, it is very upsetting that every time there is an LGBT representation it either is shown and then they cancel the show or it is in the last episode of the last season.

Yep, I was pretty disappointed when I learned that this show was being cancelled because of the pandemic. You can NEVER have enough of a badass, powerful woman with amazing powers! 💪😁🤯
When I saw “Being Canceled” I literally shouted “NO!” three times. It freaked out my grandpa. I wished that was recorded on video.

There is a petition going on so maybe you can ask people to sign that? :S

is it their best show if its losing money and not being watched?
Except that a lot of shows they canceled seem to have a pretty big fan base that are upset the show is pulled. 🤷

couldn't they have just delayed the next season? why straight up cancel it?
Cause Netflix is literal crap. The creators of the show were trying to fix it and just have it delayed, but Netflix denied because it "Cost too much money." turns out making something that appeals to 5% of the population (even less if you factor in lgbtq who actually want this kind of programing) doesnt bring in the audience something more appealing would bring in.

I loved this show 😭 the fact that they cancelled it broke my heart.

The universe is playing a cruel joke on me 😭

i can relate SO much it’s just sad. the same thing happened with anne with an e (it’s really good, i can totally recommend it, it’s off to slow start, but it keeps getting better and better) and it still makes me a bit upset. it just seems so cursed that every show i like (which often includes well-written lgbtq characters) gets freaking cancelled while trash like riverdale is still running (i know it’s not a netflix original, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s utter crap). at this point i don’t even want to get attached to good shows anymore. :(

Stuff like this is the reason I canceled my Netflix subscription. I got tired of them throwing money at mediocre content, while complaining about the budgets of their decent shows.
And yet those shows like 13 reasons why, that lack everything interesting, get renewed for 4 seasons.
13 Reasons Why doesn't just lack everything interesting,it is straight up disturbing the amount of graphic r*pe scenes, like goddamn.

I can't start watching a show from season 4 onward, Netflix.
dang, i was really looking forward to a new season though. I rarely get hooked on Netflix shows but this one got me hooked immediately and i binged it twice. Why is telekinesis the most used power when they make stories about teens with powers. Stranger Things, Chronicle, I'm Not Okay etc.
Probably because it's easy to add the effects, plus it's an unpredictable power, which falls in line with teenagers trying to learn how to control them properly. 🤔😁
