I saw a video in which some guy was playing with the dog filter and a Chucky doll, and the filter on Chucky glitched out and moved his tongue. It freaked me out.
Yeah honestly I'm surprised that other movies haven't used it tho I mean like you said it has been a thing for years so it's nice to finally see it in a movie
“Searching” that movie was crazy! It had so many twists and turns, and it also helps the protagonist knows how to computer. In one scene he used home security cameras to help with the angles.
Omg I watched it with my family and it was quite the experience. We were so hooked and every time a new twist happened we all started mumbling among ourselves.
On my first watch I jumped scared, the second watch I had a friend next to me, on the third watch on my own I was laughing. So, yeah I can tell she enjoyed the viewing 😂 😂
This weird idea occurred to me: I kinda want to see a horror movie in which the one ginger in the group is completely ignored by the demon/spirit/ghost/poltergeist...because they have no soul. That'd be funny.
I would hope the movie would play it completely straight and not reveal that until the end in the same spooky 'this is super serious' vibe as the rest of the movie.
I was really confused when unfriended came out and people were panning it. But then I realised it was because I had watched it on my laptop. These sorts of films may not be big budget works of art, but they definitely work as creepy little features and when you watch on a laptop or phone the immersion is frickin real 😱
As a very easily scared person who is still curios as hell about horror plots, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate and enjoy your videos! I’m binge watching them lol
*They throw a blanket over the invisible demon* Demon: "Ey! What the dip!?" *Throws Girl through a table* Demon: "Look what you made me do. I had other plans for you."

"Please suffer for us." Words that literally fell out of my mouth as you offered to watch and/or read The Host for your lovely viewers. Perhaps lovely is the wrong word for us. You're wonderful, by the way, keep up the good work.
the filter scene reminds me of all the snapchat videos where it would lock the filter on nothing and people were freaking out thinking their houses were haunted, when it was just mid face tracking capabilities. i love a movie where they use stuff we've seen in movies as defence/detective work, it makes it feel so real !! we literally have used the filters irl to "check for ghosts," and my grandpa used to put flour on the windowsills when my mom was younger (it was a bad time to live in the middle of nowhere i suppose). ANYWAY, i haven't seen this movie but i really want to now !!!
I love found footage, specifically because it has such a different vibe when you watch it on a laptop. Really drives home the feeling of "this is a random fucked up video I stumbled across online and for all I know it could be real."
One of the cast being interviewed said that she hasn’t seen anyone catch where it starts and from whom and said there’s 1 demon scare that occurres more than once. In fact 2 happens 4 times , 4 different scenes. She said it’s a subtle scare to induce fear , not intended to kill. She says pay attention to the girl that sets it up, her facial expressions throughout and her dialog. She turns the laptop on and leaves the room first scene and you hear something in the room fall over , then she’s standing in her hallway, not walking or talking but filming down the hallway in silence when suddenly the broom closet door slowly opens and the brooms fall out. I thought thst was just random and a false scare but she notes door opening and contents falling out occures 3 more times throughout the movie which could indicate her home was already haunted by something, maybe not the same spirit , maybe a lesser thst does the little scares as it s not powerful or maybe vengeful enough. She says the girls face tells all, she pauses contemplating like she’s worried to do this and then starts the call. All the laughing going on, her face is often looking scared and in thought. She goes on to everyone about how they need to take it seriously and mentions a key asking if anyones done it before, they all say no and she says she’s done it before , and every time she has, things start happening. So she obviously did this earlier , maybe on her own and something is in her home now. A possible reason for the call could be she’s trying to get it to leave, so tries opening another seance to close out hoping it will make what’s in her home leave. So when Jemma jokes and ruins the vibe everyone is laughing but the first girl, she looks devastated, and really worried and then gets really upset. The actress said it’s likely the broom closet spirit and the killer demon were 2 different spirits as the demon just violently killed everyone immidately and the broom one, clearly a been around her for at least a few days , so Jemma likely did ultimately bring their own deaths with her joke. She also mentioned an intersting thought, when several girls say let’s just disconnect to end it but others say that won’t work , well we did see the guys girlfriend disconnects ,..near the end of the movie and all about dead he logs on and is happy, lights are on, obviously had had a normal 30 minutes but instantly logging on his lights go out as if the demon was able to enter his arena which would have indicated the entire time they could have hung up and been safe. Last intersting point is Jemmas candle blows out on its own , the only one and nothing happens at her place, in fact she’s totally fine until she enters the other girls place being yeeted instsntly. Candle is used as a beacon to guide the spirit so maybe it blowing out it couldn’t find her? Food for thought
The director of this film hopped on a lecture call with my university class (I do filmmaking!) it was really awesome to hear everything - the actors are all friends of the director! The idea actually came around when the director pulled a prank on the cast lol.
That looks really well-done for something made so quickly and obviously with limited resources. I do a lot of theater, and many are trying to find ways of creating live shows in Zoom calls, and this gives me some interesting ideas outside of the horror genre.
The Host was a really cool concept that was carried off well and you can almost physically feel the jump in actual writing quality from Twilight. Bonus points for no three-page sniffing scenes.
@@TSDTalks22 Really? I liked the story quite a bit, I thought it was very original and clever. I suspect Meyers is good at coming up with ideas, just not executing them.
@@TSDTalks22 Oh ya! The movie is awful, the book is one of my favorite books. Her newer book, The Chemist, is also pretty good but not great, but it's also more of a real world government conspiracy book.
it would be amazing if you could react to “the host,” both the book and the movie. i personally thought the movie was lackluster (almost in the same way that twilight was), but the book showed once again how great stephanie meyer is at world building, while simultaneously having whack ass relationships.
The closest thing I can think of to the facial recognition is from one of the Paranormal Activity sequels with the game station infrared tracking dots...and that scared the shit outta me! It would be awesome for you to do both The Host book & movie review.

Glad to see that people haven't let COVID stop them from making films, in fact it utilizes the current situation we're living through to do something different. That's making the best of a bad situation. Props to them!
The entire the host book happens in her head essentially so the movie was dumb. Objectively the book might be dumb too idk I enjoyed it when I was younger.
During the scene with the hanging at 5:28, if you take a screenshot of the movie during the camera flash, or turn up the brightness on a dark screenshot, you can see that the room doesn't actually have the hanging body that shows up in the picture. I'm not sure why they wouldn't include this, since they had to set up the body for the picture anyway.
The face filter thing seems super clever, and the way they integrate Zoom is pretty cool! Thanks for talking about these movies because I can't handle watching horror myself much haha
If you read The Host you'll see why the movie version can't live up to it. However, I found both very entertaining. I've read and listened to The Host many times.
Please do Stephanie Myers "The host" because I read it when I was 12 and really liked it. I was sad when the movie came out and everyone said it sucked. I lost my copy of the book, so I cant re read it to compare. I need to know if it was my child brain not knowing what a good story is or If it is actually good.
You can probably find a copy of it at Goodwill for like $3, a lot of people donated her books after the hype was over and it became cool to diss on it.
That was the most clever transition into a sponsorship ad I've seen in a long time lol. Nice video, too! I always check your channel for things to watch lol.

Haven't you people ever seen Evil Dead? Sometimes spirits don't want to "communicate", they just want to mock you relentlessly as they rip your skin off.
There was a very short horror clip someone made years ago where some type of facial recognition software indicates there's someone behind the person in the foreground.
Ironically, I totally forgot that Stephanie Meyers has written a book that wasn’t Twilight! 😂 So when I saw The Host in the goodwill book section, I bought it with the intent of reading it.

Yeah I saw that too. I remember one where they saw eyes and it was the filter being used by something.
I also saw the trick being used in an mv with a storyline including ghosts
I was using a snapchat filter once and it got stuck on one particular place on a blank wall while I was babysitting late at night. It was creepy
“Searching” that movie was crazy! It had so many twists and turns, and it also helps the protagonist knows how to computer. In one scene he used home security cameras to help with the angles.
Bruh harold was great in that movie
Omg I watched it with my family and it was quite the experience. We were so hooked and every time a new twist happened we all started mumbling among ourselves.
I don't know what's scarier: the movie or the fact that Amanda was laughing at these people dying
Both?
On my first watch I jumped scared, the second watch I had a friend next to me, on the third watch on my own I was laughing. So, yeah I can tell she enjoyed the viewing 😂 😂
This weird idea occurred to me: I kinda want to see a horror movie in which the one ginger in the group is completely ignored by the demon/spirit/ghost/poltergeist...because they have no soul. That'd be funny.
I would hope the movie would play it completely straight and not reveal that until the end in the same spooky 'this is super serious' vibe as the rest of the movie.
this needs to b a thing
Ugh no, I'm sick of that stereotype/trope, I used to get bullied in school all the time because of that
@@grumpysphinx4911 I agree. My friend also got bullied because of that and the stereotype needs to die, it’s not funny.
@@DreyriAldranaris36 As a redhead I think it’s hilarious.
The Host, not to be confused with The Host by Stephanie Meyer, and not to be confused with The Host, Bong Joon Ho’s pretty good creature feature.
Amanda's reactions are honestly the best thing ever
She's like the little sister I wish I'd had.
I was really confused when unfriended came out and people were panning it. But then I realised it was because I had watched it on my laptop. These sorts of films may not be big budget works of art, but they definitely work as creepy little features and when you watch on a laptop or phone the immersion is frickin real 😱
It's been so long since I was actually scared by a movie that I've started to believe that actually scary movies never even existed.
The only thing Amanda is missing to go with that fly floral shirt is 2 Cuban gold chains. 😎
Frfr
“Oh that sucks” I cackled 💀🤣
I think that face filter thing is new for movies but I've definitely seen the "my phone is seeing a face here!?" thumbnail clickbait lol
As a very easily scared person who is still curios as hell about horror plots, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate and enjoy your videos! I’m binge watching them lol
*They throw a blanket over the invisible demon*
Demon: "Ey! What the dip!?"
*Throws Girl through a table*
Demon: "Look what you made me do. I had other plans for you."
Honestly that segway into the sponsor made me love this channel even more. It was so good lol.
The whole movie I was just like “nope nope no no no”
Also the scene at the end I thought the demon was gonna invite more people to the call so that he could get to more people...but he didn’t 😐
Amanda the Jedi definitely gives Philly D a run for his money as the most prolific hand talker on all of TH-cam.
Never has there been a smoother sponsor transition. Quality content. Only the best.
It’s INSANE that Amanda is at 217k subs now!! I subbed when she was only on 11k and I always thought she was severely underrated!! It’s so nice to see she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves.
I'm such a little baby that this review was enough to spook the shit out of me. Definitely going to watch with friends, maybe make a drinking game out of it.
Me too!!!! That's why I love watching videos in my phone instead of a laptop: I can just quickly turn the phone away from me so I don't have to see the scary things being shown
Girl that slide into the sponsorship!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
"Please suffer for us." Words that literally fell out of my mouth as you offered to watch and/or read The Host for your lovely viewers.
Perhaps lovely is the wrong word for us.
You're wonderful, by the way, keep up the good work.
Bro, I wouldn't check either it's obvious he's done for😭
Yeah, if my boyfriend dropped from the ceiling like a freaking sack of flour, I'd be getting my butt outta there too!
the filter scene reminds me of all the snapchat videos where it would lock the filter on nothing and people were freaking out thinking their houses were haunted, when it was just mid face tracking capabilities. i love a movie where they use stuff we've seen in movies as defence/detective work, it makes it feel so real !! we literally have used the filters irl to "check for ghosts," and my grandpa used to put flour on the windowsills when my mom was younger (it was a bad time to live in the middle of nowhere i suppose).
7:24 Because phones have magic cameras that can detect invisibe things, you know...
I have too much compassion for Amanda to ask her to suffer through The Host
The Host was a really cool concept that was carried off well and you can almost physically feel the jump in actual writing quality from Twilight. Bonus points for no three-page sniffing scenes.
Banana Boat Charlie yeah but still not good
@@TSDTalks22 Really? I liked the story quite a bit, I thought it was very original and clever. I suspect Meyers is good at coming up with ideas, just not executing them.
@@TSDTalks22 Oh ya! The movie is awful, the book is one of my favorite books. Her newer book, The Chemist, is also pretty good but not great, but it's also more of a real world government conspiracy book.
@@TSDTalks22 That's interesting to me! Was it the way the story was told, or the plot itself?
it would be amazing if you could react to “the host,” both the book and the movie.
i personally thought the movie was lackluster (almost in the same way that twilight was), but the book showed once again how great stephanie meyer is at world building, while simultaneously having whack ass relationships.
The moment you said ¨maybe the spirt wouldnt have got to her if¨ I knew it was a vpn and managed to match when u said express vpn.
I’ve been watching all the Mad Max films, they kinda feel like foreshadowing of what is to come in quarantine.
The closest thing I can think of to the facial recognition is from one of the Paranormal Activity sequels with the game station infrared tracking dots...and that scared the shit outta me! It would be awesome for you to do both The Host book & movie review.
Just fond this channel this morning, now I’m Just binge watching every video of yours.
I really wanted to watch this movie without any spoilers but it's not looking like Shudder will be available in my country any time soon, so... Thank you, Amanda!
Ever since that tweet I can't ever hear "bear with me" normally. Help.
The face filter thing seems super clever, and the way they integrate Zoom is pretty cool! Thanks for talking about these movies because I can't handle watching horror myself much haha
This is essentially "oh, MOOD", the horror movie.
Host (2020), not to be confused with Hosts (2020), The Host (2020), The Host (2006), or The Host (2013).
If you read The Host you'll see why the movie version can't live up to it. However, I found both very entertaining. I've read and listened to The Host many times.
Best way to introduce a sponsor. A+. Also I hate horror movies but I watched this because I knew Amanda will make it entertaining
I know you said you didn’t record your beginning reaction but you should definitely start putting them in full on your patreon
I salute you for that absolute FLAWLESS transition to the sponsor ad. **Chef's kiss** Bravo Amanda the Jedi,👏👏 bravo. 👏👏
I just wanna watch this movie now while having your reactions playing over it. You have me cracking up so bad. LoL 😂
I just want to say that I and my husband find your sponsorship lead-ins hilarious. Keep it up!
Imagine caring if people saw u in the same shirt two days in a row during corona time.... couldn’t be meee ahah
My favorite character is the girl wearing a facemask to go outside.
For all she knew she'd be having to call the cops/ambulance, so why not be prepared?
I wonder if the Demon got Covid.
That was the most clever transition into a sponsorship ad I've seen in a long time lol. Nice video, too! I always check your channel for things to watch lol.
I can't stop watching the poster swinging in the background :O
there was a part after they thought they broke the connection that radina stood up and u could see someone hanging behind her and NO ONE NOTICED AND IT SCARED ME SO MUCH
I would love to see a video about The Host!
5:10 Caroline has the most realistic reaction out of all of them, except if I heard that noise I’d be halfway down the street by then.
In my mind, I had the picture of this ghost lost into the server room of Express VPN, just roaming around and thinking "WTF, wher's the girl!?" XD
Haven't you people ever seen Evil Dead? Sometimes spirits don't want to "communicate", they just want to mock you relentlessly as they rip your skin off.
I watched this movie and had nightmares.....
I appreciate her watching it and laughing about it 'cause there's no way my overactive imagination and my fainted heart could do it.
Hey Amanda, I discovered you about a few weeks ago and been binging your videos nonstop! You are awesome, keep up the great work
words can express the satisfaction I get when I snap point at the same time as Amanda
There was a very short horror clip someone made years ago where some type of facial recognition software indicates there's someone behind the person in the foreground.
I'm annoyed that people think of the western films whenever someone says "The Host" and not the Korean film from 2006.
Oh wow! Caroline was actually in one of my friends student short films, which I worked on! This is so cool!
Ironically, I totally forgot that Stephanie Meyers has written a book that wasn’t Twilight! 😂 So when I saw The Host in the goodwill book section, I bought it with the intent of reading it.
I watched your commentary on this before work, watched the actual movie when I got home from work and then watched your commentary again so I knew what was going on. I don't generally get scared with horror movies, but this one actually ha me pretty terrified.
So thanks for the movie recommendation :)
Ok I'm gonna be that person...
A picture was hung, a person was hanged.
Jack hanged himself. He had not hung himself.
I read your comment until I had committed it to memory, hahaha (Wasn't aimed at me, but man, sometimes, with English as a second language, a lot slips past you D: so hey thanks!)
@@Rviere glad i could be helpful
@@Rviere Just so you know most native English speakers do say this wrong just because we don't typically talked about hanged people, so it sounds weird even though we know it's right.
What? Jack was hung? How do you know? O_O
@@Rviere Look! FryingPan just proved my point.
Okay but the way you dropped the sponsor was EVERYTHING!!!
Honestly _The Host_ by S.M. is actually a pretty great book in my opinion, and I also really liked the movie even though it really, really strays from the book so... y'know... if you'll get into that... that would be pretty cool!
Holy Shit that Collector (T.V) reference. No but actually this review made me add this to my Amazon Prime list. I didn't know this even existed before this.
I was watching this movie on my laptop and when my antivirus notif popped out I thought it was part of the movie lmao
the host is definitely something you should watch amanda! i would love to see your take on it!
