A football career is too short to spend it under pressure worried and anxious. Sure he could have been more prolific but at least he had an epic time living it up while it lasted.

You know he’s drug addict right ?
I don’t see any fun doing that
It’s just mentality of weak people to have fun
There’s many ways to have fun but not going near that route
Do you wanna go down in history as great player ? Remembered and loved by millions ?
Or do you wanna be remembered as junkie who was once upon time promising player

As a Romanian, its good to see his story featured here. I can still remember watching his penalty miss in Euro 2008 vs Italiy :( we almost beat the world champs at the time! On Romanian podcasts he's been very open and apologetic about his past and he's really turned over a new leaf with his management career. The major problem for Romanian talents is they let the media influence their hype and it can cause alot of downfall for these young players. Hopefully his experiences can bring better guidance for the youth in the future because his talent was unquestionable.

Adrian Mutu's career certainly has some highs and lows, moments of brilliance and moments of madness, but there is one thing that Mutu’s life that it hasn’t been so far - that is, boring.

As a former scout specialized on the eastern-central Europe in the 90’s. Mutu was something special at Arges and Dinamo. His problems could have been resolved with harder discipline back in those days, however coaches just let him do whatever he wanted because he was good, and the personal problems came as a consequence.
I am saying this as somebody that had the luck to talk with him when he was 17 and 19, nice guy, but not a serious dedicated one

The thing with Mutu is he was from a good family and most of the kids you’re gonna be in contact with growing up in the youth teams in Romania are kids from broken homes with all sorts of bad situations and drunk coaches who won’t believe in you unless football is all you have to get out of poverty, so he always wanted to fit in and experience ‘the underworld’, and that governed most of his decisions from an early age. He always carried himself as some sort of gangster, playboy, millionaire, etc. All he had to do was be a football player and act like one, but that was only the case for a very short period of time after the Chelsea incident. That only lasted for 2-3 years, unfortunately.

Really enjoying the humanist turn you’ve made with this channel. These player-focused videos do such a good job of humanizing these famous players, as well as the status of being a footballer. I’ve always thought that the excuse that ludicrous amounts in wages (they do receive too much) so they should wipe their tears with their cash is unfair. You’re doing good work, man.

Sadly, this is a classic tale of the Romanian footballer. Many players come from poor, uneducated backgrounds and once they sign to big clubs and get money and fame they start getting tattoos, smoking, drinking and whatnot, this is a tale as old as time here. Me and Mutu are from the same city and I know people that grew up with him, his old teammates and people that knew him back in the day and it's very sad to hear them talk about him. I'm glad he started coaching, maybe he will learn from the mistakes of the past and that his story will be an example to young players.

Damn what a talent he was, but i guess talent is not enough when you don't have dicipline - well except whe you're Romario or Maradona
About Mutu as a coach: Nah he isn't that impressive, he almost got Voluntati relegated in his first term, then had a great time with the Romanian U21, a decent perfomance at Rapid and got saked in Azerbajan after he left Romania for the money. Now let's see what he'll do at CFR Cluj...
But yeah, what a player he was, sadly almost every Romanian struggles to get into a stron European team because of the lack of dicipline, profesionalism and self-responsibility they're getting taught in the academy - back home, you get treated like a demigod, but once you're in Europe you're realise that you need to fight and give 100% - hopefully things will change, but looking at Romanias governing body in football, it doesn't seem like it. The only hope are Romanians who transfer from a young age to west like Dragusin
