  • @zakzk1257
    @zakzk1257 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +278

    The problem comes from a lack of understanding of Italian football. For the Americans, there’s no real difference between Milan and Arsenal and Ateletico Madrid or between Serie A and the Premier League. For them it's just "soccer".
    Moncada, who’s seen as the technical director, mentioned that the management wants to build a possession-based, attacking team, and their model is Livrerpool. But there are two big issues with this plan:
    1- The nature of Serie A : the most tactical league in europe and playing this style here is much harder, even top possession teams struggle a lot against italian team in the CL and UEL . It requires top-level players and serious reinforcements, which the management hasn’t provided.
    2- A Gap Between Vision and Reality : The disconnect between what they want and what they’ve done has left any coach, including Fonseca, in an almost impossible situation. While Fonseca and the players share some blame for the results, most of it falls on management for not building a squad fit for their goals. You can't ask for Klopp's or guardiola football with someone like Emerson or Musa.
    The team’s main problem, which has been around for years, is the lack of a complete and balanced squad. The players don’t complement each other, and key positions like CF, RB, DM are still weak and we need players with experience. Maldini was right when he said it’s time to invest in the team.
    There are really only two ways forward:
    1- Stick with the Offensive Style and Go all in. Spend big on top-quality players in key positions to make this style work.
    2-Go for a More Balanced Approach : Bring in a coach who’s better suited to Serie A’s tactical nature and focus on smart, targeted signings to build a stable team.
    The management needs to decide: either fully back their vision or adjust to what Serie A demands. If they don’t take action soon, the team will stay stuck in this cycle of mediocrity.
    EDIT : By americans meant only Redbird, not the american people ofc

      no team does it in one window. even chelsea right now have obvious flaws at GK, RCB. its gonna take ac milan 2-3 transfer windows to build up a squad that can play out from the back. this window looks like it flopped for ac milan. hopefully next one is good.

    • @zakzk1257
      @zakzk1257 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@johnnyboi331 maybe but what bothers me is that we're having these issues since many years, we're playing with old strikers for more than 5 seasons, we didn't replace kessie, Tonali and hakan, we don't have experienced players ... Etc etc
      What's the point of getting rid of players like Adli, Pobega, Vrankx to get someone like Musa and they're already talking about getting another cheap young prospect in January to solve our problems ? Whats the Point of spending money for Emerson who's not better than Calabria ?
      Yes I understand that a team like Chelsea needs to many transfer windows to start over, but for us it seems like we take a step forward and two backwards.
      Also the management said clearly they're playing for the scudetto which put a lot of pressure on the team

      @@zakzk1257that’s the sad reality we are currently experiencing as a Milanisti. From the moment Fonseca arrived you could tell that this season (and probably the next as well) the board was not really trying to invest in a coach/squad that would be a competing squad. Definitely seems like Cardinale and his people (Including Zlatan) are happy with the fact that we beat inter and madrid honestly seems like that was enough for them. On the other hand we got idiot Americans like the ones in Roma who are definitely going to run the club back to the ground. The kick out a legend of the club Maldini then stick with a choach who was out of ideas in Pioli then they go and hire the most midiocre choach ever
      I am surprised they managed to keep all our best players, but all it takes is clubs that want to buy them for a good price then the management signing sevral Emerson Royal type of players to basically take the club back to banter era. Which is exactly what happened to us when we sold Kaka, Silva and Ibra and didn't replace them properly.

    What I don't understand is the lack of interest in Italians. Players, coaches, and at the board level, it seems like Cardinale wants no part of them in any capacity. Maldini, axed for Zlatan, why? De Zerbi available, plays a possession game that the club wants and a former Milan youth player? Nah, go for Fonseca. Tonali, future captain, Milanista, gives 150% every game? Okay, let's sell him and keep Leao/Hernandez (who would've gotten them probably 200+ million if both sold) and give Hernandez the armband in some games? In losing both Maldini and Tonali, the club lost its past, present, and future soul. In not purusuing De Zerbi, that only further highlights it.

    Our biggest problem rn is that we do not have any passion to play, and Fonseca keeps pushing players who are clearly out of form or just aren't ready to play in serie a just yet. Our board didn't want to sack Pioli when we asked them, but after some pressure, they letted his contact run out. Maldini insisted on keeping youngsters and to build a project for a future with players who are ready to fight for a club with also some signing which could bring some experience to the club, but they have always went against his word and he decided to leave. They letted Kjær go, a player who fought with his heart just so we could win and replaced him with nobody, just some clowns. They said that they are now looking to become like Benfica, buy cheap and sell high without even focusing on the position in competitions. Bids from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have come for Theo, and they are still to respond to it. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell him since he ain't having a good relationship with Fonseca.

Milan aren't paying top transfer fees or big wages, nor are they clever in recruiting undervalued/overlooked players. They pretty much get what they pay for (and often less). There is a way to get variation out of inconsistent players by playing much more conservatively, but that won't get you to a league title most years

Do you have any idea how hard it is to end up second in Serie A with that kind of points gap? Especially after all the changes we went through, finishing second was a massive achievement. What were you expecting, exactly? To win the title? I feel like we always take these things for granted instead of celebrating them like we should!

    - Abraham is a crap striker. His actual goals compared to xG stat is amazingly bad - one of the worst finishers in Serie A in recent years. Even before he was at Milan.
    - Emerson Royal is actually not that bad and compared to last year even an upgrade over Calabria.
    - Some of the transfers last year were actually really good Pulisic and Reijnders were 10/10 signings, RLC was decent last year (this year not so much), Chukwueze and Okafor ddin't get a lot of minutes (probably victims of Pioli). Fofana this year looks very good.
    - Regarding the fan situation there is context missing - the club and ownership is cracking down on the Ultras because of their mafia associations and other crimes which have landed some of the leadership in jail. But hey, maybe letting some criminals dictate how you run a club you spent more than a billion on is normal in Italy.
    - The thing with strikers is than they got a huge talent in Camarda and IMO they basically decided to get only a bridge solution.

      @@paulie-g they get it from the Club’s 400-450m of yearly revenue. And nobody knows where that money is being allocated precisely. The point being: it’s not a matter of a lack of funds, hence, a necessity for a supposed “data driven, value oriented recruitment”. Both notions are ploys to justify their complete lack of sporting ambition outside of a top4 placement. The club has the money, they just choose to reinvest very little into sporting expenses (transfer fees, salaries and commissions). This is what Maldini had a problem with. Now, contrary to Maldini and Massara, these guys also manage to fall short on the execution of this supposed “value oriented recruitment” by systematically buying the wrong players for the technical project they have in mind. They wanted to implement a possession dominant system and they spent 85m on Emerson Royal, Musah, Loftus Cheek and Chukwueze lol. Not to mention, that now it seems increasingly more likely that they won’t even reach the only cheap objective they had, that being top4. It’s an unmitigated disaster, and to this day they don’t show any intention or care to make the obvious changes that will fix this: go to Atalanta’s or Bologna’s sporting director and offer twice of what he’s making now, provide a little more than what you’re investing now in sporting expenses, and let him do his job without too many constraints. If they did that with Maldini and Massara from day one of RedBird’s ownership, Milan would have followed their growing trajectory at the sporting level, the players (assets) wouldn’t have devalued so much, and the club would be just as profitable and sustainable for the Owners if not more, given that the sporting success brought by Maldini - Massara - Gazidis was the primary reason why the club gained its appeal back for commercial and sponsorship deals.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't follow Milan closely, but Moncada was there as head of scouting all this time, it's not clear whether the successes belong to him or Maldini (and given Moncada's success at Monaco, it's more likely his doing), and Milanisti were singing his praises just a couple years ago. Now it's suddenly a problem?
      Maldini publicly expressed his objections to the club's strategy, you can't keep someone in charge of executing a strategy they don't believe in *and* make it widely known, it made his position untenable. I'm pretty certain he knew that when he said it, a very convenient way to get out if you ask me.
      I understand what Maldini means for Milan, but it doesn't follow that he is the best man for the job. Unless you find another Berlusconi, your club needs to be financially sustainable and to do that, it needs to recruit for value with modern scouting and analysis most of the time, with the money saved by being efficient going on big signings now and again when the opportunity arises. Maldini wasn't on board with that, fine, it's his prerogative, but the right way for him to behave towards the club is to express this disagreement privately, tender his resignation and wish the club and the rest of his team who were now moving into his role the best of luck. Not what he did, is it? I still remember when Milanisti complained about the old guard having too much power at the club in the 2000s, and they were playing - something they had proven they were world-class at doing. Now suddenly the only person who can be Milan sporting director is Maldini, even though it's unclear that he has a track record, doesn't want to use modern methods and demands 'big investment' when he knows it's not feasible? Gattuso was much loved, and surely epitomises giving his all for the club, is he the only possible coach?

    Their biggest mistake now would be sacking Fonseca.

    These is always ups and downs in a clubs life. Comparing a clubs present to its history is a dumb man’s job. Football has changed a lot since Milan was on top

    Theo has been the worst starter in the team all season. He needs to be benched. I don't blame him or Fonsceca. I blame the management who failed to secure a left footed rotation fullback for him for years now. It was just a matter of time for the man to get some for of burnout. I'm glad Jimenez is doing great, but Madrid having such a low buyback is a disrespectful slap to the face.
