Yes I watched your video. My mate sent me it. Very informative. Great job. Hopefully if the snow stops I can ride it. Fancy helping me build the next one 👀
@@benjaminlechappers Benjamin Benthony Benremy... you can't ride the bike build there for them to do for you that's just silly :P But perhaps if you are delivered with the bike box to then ride back afterwards... 🤔
My 2016 first Gen ALR is a fantastic bike. I've bought and sold many bikes, but I keep this bike. I put force AXS on it a couple of years ago, it's fantastic. Ritchey carbon bars, stem, and Bontrager RSL carbon post, and Aeolus Pro 5 wheels
I'm at 8.5 kilos with Look Keo Max carbon pedals, one carbon bottle cage and Trek Garmin blendr mount with my Emonda ALR 5 build. This is with the stock carbon bars. yours is looking good. Love the frame.
I own a '04 Trek 1500 SLR size 52 with aluminum box section clinchers with the only things made of carbon are the Reynolds UL fork, Bontrager seatpost and cages and a cheap unbranded saddle from China. With pedals it weigh 7.43 kg. Saving some money to get a pair of deep section carbon rims to shave the weight to about 7.1 kg.
I am considering buying this same frame and building with SRAM Rival etap. Trek website says 28 mm tires max. What’s the clearance with 32mm tires? Nice build overall. Thanks for sharing this video.
I held my tubular 22mm to my frame so get idea where bigger tyre sits but take this with pinch of salt max gap between stays is 36mm so anything below that be clearance, like 32mm should give 2mm each side (I don't know minimum clearance people recommend on a bike to use), forgot to add I haven't measured from where tyre be to seat tube The 36mm was gap between chain stays and think seat stays ones going down to meet wheel? Have a bigger gap than 36mm
@@roberts1159 I expect they do, I know someone put 30mm on anyway, well think 30 unless they meant 32 At moment I'm tempted to stay with 25mm over any bigger, said stay but meant go bigger to 25mm

Looks awesome, mate but if Foxy says don't take it bike packing, I'd be reluctant to take it bike packing.... unless you want the ensuing drama for the content! 😂
A few people have said this. Appreciate the feed back. Was the 1st 4k upload. Wasn’t a filter I just used to much contrast in the colour grading 👍🏽 Your comment was definitely the most constructive compared to a few I have had 🙌🏾😂
Love how Foxy "misplaced" the headset bearings, just to remind you how invaluable he is by "finding" them
😂🤣😂
Seems he's quite foxy like that 🤣
We just built one of these. Really impressed. If more brands get their alu on point like this I can see a resurgence happening.

Great bike can't beat a good ally frame! Great video to!

Killer bike killer edit 👌
That’s a beautiful frame
Very good looking frame and great choice on the build and the 32mm tyres.
I have the previous gen ALR in rim brake. I've built it up to 6.4 kg and I'm super happy with that!
Quite a spectacular looking shop there
Foxy knows best.
Such a beautiful bike. I actually came over to see the bike build or info on the bike after watching the series from your mates. 😊
Great value build! Really like how it turned out. Now we need some update on how it rides and maybe compare it with your Domane.
Beautiful build! 😮
Thank you! 😁

A sick bike Ben, it's mental to be rode ide b taken it bike packing ,really jealous of u 😍😍
I can’t believe how light that alu build is.
*BEAUTIFUL* ❤❤
Great frame for a "budget" build. I recently bought one too and upgraded to carbon wheels and carbon seatpost with a Bontrager RSL carbon saddle.
Yeah nice! My current Caad 13 is around 8.1kg with pedals and rides so well. Shows aluminium can be a decent light frame material
Peng bike that though, something about an ally frame with some naughty deep rims is just wonderful
Amazing bike.
Thinking of building one up as my "travel bike" as I'm terrified of my carbon frame getting knocked and damaged.
I've only ever flown with my metal bikes. Don't trust the carbon one won't turn up in pieces.

omg 32! How's the the clearance in the fork? awesome!!
Hi Ben 👋 I have the same frameset. Quick question what kind of spacers did you use??
Some we found laying around I believe
Damn! This will be my next build. Currently still loving the most hated Caad13.
thinking of picking one up, replacing my crashed caad 8. Do you recommend? any creaks? :)
@@HCMORGI Highly recommend it IF you're buying it used but if you're getting a brand new one just get the Allez Sprint or Emonda ALR5.

Love the frame Ben where can I order it from?

Hey just a standard Bontrega one 🙌🏾
Do they have an aluminum fork?
Forgot to ask what spacer amount did you use under the stem? I use 10mm or 20mm depends how feel but tempted to slam it like pros

How tall are you mate? Looking at one of these
12:34 let’s not include the wheels 😂😂😂😂😂
what frame size do you have? and what is your height?
How is the performance of the bike? It is fast or more on the endurance side?
It’s a good all round bike for both gravel and road.
Hi Sir, how tall you are?
I'm about to order the ALR 5, but not sure about the sizes to get, I'm 172cm tall with 80cm inseam
This might be a dumb question but with this frame is it possible to build as a fixed gear ?
Hmmmm I see what your thinking I’m not sure 🤔
Any idea if the 32c will fit on the 2024 Emonda SL6?
I wouldn’t think so
Does 3T make parts anymore, my light bike has 3T but if abandoned I could probably go 6.5kg instead of 6.7kg
Please watch the 1-week old cycling weekly video. Have you noticed any of the same issues?
FAVE
Great video mate! But I find it that the audio is really low. I had to crank up my speakers. Nonetheless great build on the ALR!
Sorry about that
My canyon endurace al with 11 speed 105, campagnolo shamal wheels and all stuff like reflectors, lamps, computer and whatnot is 9.25kg
Ouch, I'm seeing if can maybe get budget gravel bike to between 9-10kg so between Trek Emonda ALR weight and my Trek Slash gen 5 weight
How much did you pay for the frame? £1400 total, with a £700 groupset, carbon bars and seatpost.
Frame was 650.00
@@benjaminlechappersWhere did you find it for that price?

How did you manage to build this bike for £1500 (ex. wheels) when the frameset alone retails at £1300?

more like 8.3 !
