Thank goodness someone finally built an ALR, I have been looking around for months to see if I should build one up....
100% worth it! Really fun bike to ride as well!
Great build! Have the white frame incoming for a similar build :)
Thanks! The white one is a beaut!!
Nice bike..... nice build. I built up my own Emonda ALR last season. Almost the same as your build (w/ Shimano 105 Di2). They are wonderful bikes. Great in the mountains and snappy in the city. I really have confidence with the aluminum frame, I feel safe knowing that I'm on something substantial rather than a thin, lightweight carbon frame. Building up your own allows one to spec out all the parts to the sizes and types that you want to run. It's nice to see so many people excited about the Emonda ALR. Cheers!!
Thanks Steve, really love this bike!! I do like the look of the new madone and seen some photos of social floating around about the new emonda. But for me I already have a gravel bike and this is perfect for road riding. Would love to do an mtb build with an alloy frame, still can’t trust carbon taking those big hits.
Looks really good. Now you got me thinking about those pzero all seasons
Thanks!! Still need to test them properly but running really well is this rubbish weather we’ve been having
Nice build, i also build one my self and i have been enjoying it to bits!!! Such a nice ride this one....
Sorry I missed this comment. Nice, what set up did you go for? Really love riding mine!
love the look of the bike, been trying to decide between this or the specialized allez, really tempted for the emonda though.
Really liking this emonda alr, looks very clean with the internal cable housing.
nice bike!
Thank you, really fun to ride!
Nice, I run Shimano PD-520 SPD on my 2024 ALR as well for the same reason, lol. It’s all good
People keep telling me to go road cleats but I’m going to stick with SPDs! More versatile and haven’t had to change my cleats. SPD for the win!
That's some nice finishing kit. I went for Chris King bottom brackets instead of Enduro.
Chris Kings are nice 👌🏼 thanks for watching!
Well presented vid showing a really nice bike, well done. The only one thing I'd change, I'd clean it! LOL
Thank you!! I wanted to but didn’t get round to doing it before filming.
That’s a nice bike
Thank you, really enjoy riding it!
Wish I had the time to moutain bike as it looks like great fun.
Make time and get one!
your real frame weight of the "54'" would have been interesting -
i don´t trust factory given weights anymore.
BTW: best pedals i´ve riden so far
That’s a good point when I had it stripped down I should have weighed! Really loving the pedals and glad I didn’t switch to road cleats.
emonda alr is my dream roadbike. I absolutly love my X Caliber though.
X calibre is a nice bike! I e tried out the procaliber and supercaliber, both great bikes! Definitely worth getting an emonda alr though! Worth building one up if you can!
Yeah my dreambike is def the Emonda ALR with 105 R7120 or Di2@@DanEscapes
@@hampden_avnue285if you can get Di2!! But the new 105 mechanical 12 speed is still very good!
Would you reccomend Di2 or mechanical for this bike?@@DanEscapes
How do fast descents feel on the alloy version?
I used to have a carbon aero bike that I felt super confident on. Trying to get back into cycling on a budget but worried the alloy version won't offer the same confidene.
Tbh i haven’t pushed it that fast at the moment. Built this up at the start of winter and most of the time the roads are wet or covered in leaves so been taking it easy. Will have to see when summer comes. Really loving the pzero 4S and they have solid grip in the wet.
SPD pedals and shoes are the best :). I have the older (2021) version of Emonda. I am using Dt Swiss G1800 wheels with 30mm GP 5000's, changed handlebar to Zipp SL Ergo 38 (aluminium) and Ultegra 11s Mechanical and SPD pedals :). The weight of the build is 8.5 Kgs. It's the best bike I have owned.
I was going to get that emonda but held fire then they release the new frame with the internal cable routing. Such a fun bike to ride!
@@DanEscapes Ye, the only annoying thing about my older model is the external cables, especially below the chainstay. Sand/mud and everything just gets stuck to it.
@@HarishChouhan if you enjoy riding then that’s all that matters.
Could you tell me what make of blue bar tape is on the bike in the background please? I'm looking into one of these framesets having been offered one as I have everything already to go directly from a Vitus frameset that has gone a bit wrong. 11 speed Ultegra mechanical gears/hydro. Ahem, Roval wheels and Zipp aero bars. Is yours the 2023 model? I've seen some reviews that question how wide tyres can go realistically. Thanks
The bar tape is Trek’s Eco Tak. That would be a nice set up on the Emonda ALR, I have the 2023 model. On the website it says 28, I think k you could get a 32 in there easily, I wish I put 30s on when instead of 28s. I have done a gravel ride before and someone I know was running a 32 cycle cross tire in his Emonda SL frame/forks.
Out of curiosity. How tall are you friend? I see you have a 54 frame. Im 185cm so i'll normally be a 56-58 or M/L size frame/bike with most brands. Just wanted to see how the frame compares.
I’m just under 173cm and the 54 feels good for me. Have you got a bike that feels good for you? If so you can use the website geometrygeeks.bike to work out what’s the best size for you. Let me know how you get on.
@@DanEscapes my mind has absolutely been blown lol. What an excellent website!
Switch pedals. Its a whole new ballgame with road pedals. They are wider and lighter and the power transfer is bigger
Which pedals are you running? I have some top end mtb shoes and like the convenience of being able to walk and will switch out the ones on this build to double sided.
beautiful bike but I think you probably would have been better off with the 37s and ultegra mechanical. Would have shed off a decent amount
I really like the 51s but totally agree with shedding weight with the 37s. Really love the shifting on Di2, plus tried routing mechanical through the RSL bars and was a horrible job to do.
Al 5 is it a big difference from ALR 5 I have AL5
Do you mean the domane al 5?
No comments. It’s an okay bike. Don’t really get the fuss though.
Always get the fuss!
Checkpoint bike check???
I do need to do one!!
Just take my money I want it :D
I love the bike! So good and worth it!!
Had a hard time listening after he said I like mtb...
😉
😂 mtb > road!
