I would sell the Drone 2 for the first one and save like $60, because the PS5 Qanba sticks are NOT reasonably priced 🤣 Seriously though, I would swap the Sanwa buttons out for Qanba Gravity buttons. They're a little more expensive than Sanwa buttons, but they're quiet, and much nicer to your fingers after long play sessions. I'd also recommend adding weight to the case, but that's only if you're like me and prefer more heft to your sticks. I purchased adhesive tire weights to make it more to my liking for that adventure And I know you said you added the removable lever so you can put it in your bag on the fly, but if you wanted to forgo the bag, I added a strap I can throw over my shoulder. It gets a little snug, but the cable and strap can fit in the storage cubby just fine when not in use
Nice mods 💯 you know what, I never thought about throwing tire weights on... I definitely thought I could work with this arcade stick, but after using it I think the weight is what makes me miss some inputs, so I went back to my Razer Panthera
@@ShaolinMatchy this modded lever specifically lets you remove the lever just by pulling the spring on it.. making it easier to put in a bag for travel so you don't damage the lever
new to fighting games (and fight sticks overall) is there any way i can find out what compatible levers/sticks would be good replacements for this specific fightstick + what buttons I'm able to use that would also be compatible? im struggling a bit to find any info on this but and other resources have been pretty vague
The only one that will fit without you having to bend prongs is the Sanwa stick. If you're wanting to change the stock stick, you can purchase that one with confidence. Although, if this is your first time ever playing on an arcade stick, I would recommend not spending the extra $25 on a sanwa joystick right away. Just play on it as it is for a month or so and decide if it's something you like the feel of and will stick with. There's no need to rush into modding... Although, if you ignore me and get it anyway, I'd recommend buying a Sanwa octagon restrictor gate along with it, because I had my Drone for like 4-5 years, but it always felt clunky and awkward to me until I changed the gate...idunno if any of this will help with your decision, but I hope it does 😅
@christian_uu ^ pkphantom is right, although when I first started off I switched to octagon just to learn fireball motions.. once I did, I went back to square gate. A lot easier to hold down back for blocking or charging

I don't think it has a JLF lever. I believe they have their own brand kind. And i want to say that you can put on a bat top.. but I've never owned one 🤔 so can't say for sure
Besides the joystick coming off, between the stock and the one and one you put on. What is more stiffer and looser? I have a drone 2 and its my first stick. I can perform combos ok but when it comes to supers, its a hit or miss in sf6. I can do qcb ok but qcf i have a hard time. Do you think its a joystick problem or gate problem. Or should i simply find a technique
Cool fuckin mod. I picked up a custom Qanba drone mod, which was a matte, fully blacked out case with some silent qanba buttons. Similiar black case to yours. Swapped those out for sanwas and went with a JLF stick, with a short cocktail shaft, .5 lb spring, rubberised balltop, 1 mm oversized actuator and an octagon gate, no shaft cover. Also velcroed on a keyboard wrist pad for some extra support. What makes the drone unique to my other modded sticks is how light it is. With the light spring tension on my mod, the light weight isnt even an issue and its great to use when doing alot of keyboard type of shit on emulation. Ive mapped save and load state to foot pedals for efficient practice, but some games require note taking and other types of tasks. Sometimes I just like the light feel too. Question for you. Do you know if the drone allows for turbo speed adjustments? Biggest issue I have with the drone is that it seems to have one fire rate for turbo and its a little slow. I actually needed to use a SPECIFIC control pad with 30 hz fire rate to beat an arcade game called Zero Wing. Final boss was impossible without that fire rate when playing checkpoint to checkpoint. I use these controllers for all types of games. I havent found a way to cycle through turbo speeds on it yet. Tried looking it up, cant find my manual. My top stick is still my modded Hori Rap4 but thats mainly because it gives me less wrist issues and the Seimitsu LS62 stick I have in that one, which I find super precise for platformers and especially shooters. Can really make those micro adjustments. For beat em ups and fighting games I really like this qanba mod though. Great all around controller. Might toss a Seimitsu LS40 in there, in the future to see how that stick feels too. The LS62 is kind of a hybrid mix of different seimitsu joystick features.
Makes sense, especially if you mostly play fighters. Though you can really destroy with ehonda and blanka with the thousand hand slap and electrocute moves, ha ha. @@blendoben

It could be both, i say try both a stiffer spring.. then later try a different gate if it still doesn't fix the issue
