Once when I was just out of high school, I laid a 286ft burn out with a 96 chevy 1500 with a 5 speed. Launched in 1st shifted to 4th, but I had to drop it back into 3rd to keep it going. 200 people were screaming.... Probably the most awesome burn out I've done
Don't get nauseous, but the best burnout I've ever done, style wise was my 1996 Lincoln MK 8, did a brake rev with the sunroof open, lit the tires and the smoke came in the car , had the windows open, and came out the sunroof like chiminey
Ford 136 cu in (2.2 L) V8-74[14] version was introduced in the United States in 1937. With 2.6 by 3.2 in (66 by 81 mm) bore and stroke and 6.6:1 compression, the engine was rated 60 hp (45 kW) and 94 lb·ft (127 N·m).[14] The designation changed again in 1939, to V8-922A, but the specifications remained the same. This could be the smallest V8
Your best Roadkill was the dart toss budget ride with the Pontiac, will you do more of these? It was sooooooo good! You must do this again. It was the essence of the show.
What makes the ultimate burnout? A quicker ET after doing one. 18 minutes of style points are for runway models. This episode really made the decision for me whether to subscribe or not.
The V10s are a better option than a diesel if you want a working truck for yourself, but aren't going to drive it everyday or in a fleet situation methinks. The ford ones are the same. No expensive injectors or pump to stuff up, if something flogs out you can fix it yourself in your driveway with parts from autozone, and if a crank bearing spins, the block is reusable.
I have proven time and time again with my 1972 SS454 Elcamino that if you have the horsepower, you don't need a Posi!!! I put a 12 bolt 3:31 ratio, non posi rear end unit (complete from drum to drum) out of a '71 Chevelle and ALWAYS was able to do a "posi-like" burnout (both wheels spinning). It never did a one-legger. 😎
If you are in Australia, its apparently an LS, blown or unblown, on the limiter and melting the plastic bumper off. Kinda makes the American stationary burnout look good.
Guys, dont ask roadkill to give cars away. The wagon was a one-off deal because z24 kid pulled certain heartstrings. PLUS, HE OFFERED A TRADE... HE DIDNT ASK FOR THE CAR. #igotdavesback. #finntoo #dulsichremindsmeofme
I'm looking forward to the budget Ebody build! Id love some advice on making my 74 Challenger ride and handle better without going all out with the $6000 K frame swaps.
A beautiful burnout usually is done with a pickup truck. Smoke should pour out between the cab and bed, then make "Wings" away from the tires, like you get when you have side pipes dumped in front of the tires.
I'd really like to see you guys be old a replicated version of the old Mickey Thompson setup with compressed air supercharging using 2 air tanks in the trunk that are setup to run like turbos but its all just compressed air being forced into the carb. I've seen this setup before and watched it safely make a 400hp small block crank out a little over 800hp on the dyno and they didn't even have to do any changes to the motor to make those gains. I'd like to see you guys build a same type setup for one of your cars and put it to the test!
I think one of the smallest V8's in an American car would be the 3.4L (207C.I.) in some of the Ford Taurus SHO's. Commonly available in the US there is the BMW 3.0L which is 183 C.I. and there were some other cars built overseas but might not of been imported into the US with 2L or smaller V8s
WOW! Ford made a 136 cubic inch V8 starting in 1937. What a teeny tiny little baby V8, how cute... that's 2.2 liters, I have a Saab with a bigger 4 cylinder than that. And it was 60hp 94lb-ft with a 6.6 to 1 compression ratio. Just for the novelty I think it'd be terrific to take an engine like that, get it up to like 9 or 10 to 1 compression, run like 15 pounds of boost on it. I bet a modern V8 with a turbo that was 2.2 liters could be 300 horsepower for a reliable unit. Honestly though... probably not worth it, 2 liters are 270 hp on the regular now, the only benefit for the V8 would be how responsive it was. I bet you'd have 250 lb-ft of torque at idle, really stout passing power.
Have you seen a Flathead? 3 Mains? Side Valves? When you do that you probably will cancel your idea.. :D Nothing is impossible though. It is only money! $$$ :D
Yeah to the guys who replied I worded that incorrectly, I know that that old 136 cubic inch engine can't be modified to get any real power out of it, I meant a modern small V8 could be really interesting. Emissions are killing engine sizes, 1.3 liter and smaller engines are becoming high production items, so I'm just thinking that a 2.2 liter turbo V8 could actually serve a purpose as well as being torquey and fun.
To be fair, there has been built some pretty big power Flatheads. Look no further than Bonneville racers. They are without a doubt fast. But hey, they are basically around 80+/- years old to begin with!
instade of useing the brakes, firewood in frout of the frout tires, mini spool in the back, truck in 3rd gear on dirt and a newly rebuilt 300 l6 just sreaming away... theres vid of it here...
Hey guy's, have a question for you mopar gurus. When can you build a 273 to get maximum hp and tq . I know the argument about cubic inches but these motors are dependable. I have a 66 dart gt that I've had since i was 12 and i am 51 now . The aftet market is not doing anything for them r early a-bodies in general. Would love to see a early dart build up.
Never knew about the V8-60, just wondering if it would fit inside my Reliant Robin (not the Reliant Regal from LeMons that did so well but the descendent of) as I would love to get something really showy in there but without losing half the cabin space like the Rover V8'd Reliant has. You should ask Matt le Blanc about Reliants... he just lurves them hehe
The v8 60 was a 60 go ford v8 with 136 cubic inches of displacement. It had a bore stroke of 2.60 x 3.20 and made 60 go at 3,500 rpm and made 94 ft lbs of torque at 2,500 rp.
My best burnout was so epic. Just starting out at KU with a new roommate. We worked at the same place roughly a 40min drive away and both were drivers so we often just raced. '91 mr2 for him and a completely built '88 mustang conv for me. I never really got into it because i'd been working on it so many years and wrecked my previous project. But it happens. One day in spring we pulled up next to one another at a stoplight, lots of open road ahead. He could smoke his tires, mine I knew what I paid for them being wider on OZ rims fuck spending all my money on burning rubber. I opened it up while he was burning out and the car went perfectly just a bit sideways so i was facing his car and started to go down the road. smoked through 3rd gear shifting on a new clutch all sideways. He pretty much forgot about racing i think and just was open mouthed, straightened up the car easing the clutch out of 3rd and went on my way. I've had others but that was the best with witnesses on the street. btw, my previous wreck was a '68 camaro based on reading about crusher camaro since i was 14yrs old. devastated me to wreck that thing on a silly wreck coming around a corner and spinning.
I predict Finnegan and Freiburger won't be a duo much longer. I have noticed cracks and somewhat forced grins recently. RIP proper Roadkill. It was nice while it lasted.
Robin Lovell I think you're reading a bit much into this, people are humans and don't always get along like angels, it doesn't mean they suddenly hate each other and want to quit Roadkill. The guys got a kid and does a show that consists of not sleeping and constant atress, I think they're allowed to be less than perfect. Just my two cents.
Fixing the Dash on Freiberger's Dodge truck sounds like a future RK garage episode I know they make an aftermarket one that fixes the issue. BTW wish the commenting thing worked on the MTOD app (I know it's coming but just saying)
Unique question! Have you ever done an episode to pentastar (however you spell it) v6 engines? Especially for the 2014 charger se’s? What to put on them to increase horsepower specifically for the charger because there is nothing on them?
Do a big vote on facebook or twitter and see how many people want to see another bonneville episode. I would love to see another episode of that on roadkill.
I have the same truck but in a cummins. The v10 is allot faster stock for stock. Good thing about the diesels cheap you can double its hp/tq. My dash was the same I ended up buying a replacement dash . I love my truck I will never get rid of it.
Smallest production V8 in America= Conley Stinger 609, and you can get one SUPERCHARGED even :) BTW, 609 stands for 6.09 cubic inches or approximately 100cc .
what makes the ultimate burnout. The right amount of power. a mild big block or a hot small block. enough power to just get it on the gas and not too much power where you whip out.
how to get past smog in california mustang 2 they ran from 73 to 78 so smog exempt and you can get a modern small block ford or a 5.0 small block in them they have some of the better front suspension made in the 70's and have a strong unibody and a sprung rear straight axle not much to look at but can be made to go .
You done goofed man. You could've just put one of those custom cut dash carpets on it and it would've taken another 15 years to crack apart! Nah I have no room to talk, my car's dash is getting cracks now that I could've avoided easily.
I daily a 1996 ram 2500 with the 8.0l v10 I would love to see one swapped into a muscle car or muscle truck. I can’t say enough good things about that engine.
One of the best I have ever seen was Mark Arblaster's WAR440 and he put a set all-terrain 4wd tyres because they have heaps more rubber on them. The trick is to get the car is top gear and have the wheels going at top speed asap.

Wal-Mart had a huge sale on em. I even got a couple for myself.
Well, then you're just not cool, lol
Andrew Saldivar 😂😂
Got mine
these guys have been friends so long they are almost like brothers. wish i had a friendship like that.

Ford V8 60 was 136 c.i.
Come to Australia and find out!
TheMFrelly choke on our tire fumes lol
TheMFrelly gladly fly me out there
What makes the ultimate burn out. Not getting caught !
Money for tires

Steve, love the 60's vintage Douche' bag State Trouper mirror shades!
3:20 and yet the burnout champ at HR Power Tour The was a one legger AMC Hornet Wagon w/ a IL6.
What makes the ultimate burnout? A quicker ET after doing one. 18 minutes of style points are for runway models. This episode really made the decision for me whether to subscribe or not.
Hey! Bring us more engine masters, I just discovered it this week and I'm out of episodes already. Literally the best thing on youtube.

Would LOVE to see a v10 build or just a video of the truck in general.
Steve Dulcich is such a gem. Frieburger may be the boss of their various operations, but Steve is definitely the heart and soul.
SD is like that knowledgeable crazy dude everybody built cars with in their youth.
I’m happy to see homeless people being much successful these days. Keep it up guys 😀
#dostuffwithhoonigan
i noticed as i watched i am in a tee shirt and wearing camo shorts and vans with no socks.
Pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?
Freiburger sounds like a fraulein und schwanz sauger for a being such a big car guy.
#schwanzsauger
Some reason I am craving chicken wings now
I clicked because BURNOUTS!!!
...and didn't see a single one.
"How dare you even mention that.." Hahaha, so Dulcich, great!

As an Australian I approve of your requirements for a good burnout, made me laugh.
Easy all you need is an Australian hands down and this is coming from a kiwi nothing beats an Australian with an Ford or Holden
I've seen some Kiwi's do some epic burnouts!!!!!
Or a kiwi with a rotary
I'm up for it then, let's do it for straya
or an arab in anything ?
those blokes go hard im telling yas, coming from an aussie
Fuckin oath mate
A top knot would quintuple viewership. I guarantee it. 🐎
Viper v10 is huge. Watched another show on Velocity where it took up the whole engine compartment on a 1962 Chrysler 300.
Nice shorts, fellas. Did you call each other that morning and discuss your outfits or did freiburger just sleep over. Lol
Thought the same thing.
Uniform of the day?
This might be a little weird but one of my favorites is the Mustang Cobra II. How about doing a monster engine swap on one... Maybe a 351c or 429/460.
@David why not NV3500 or AX15 5speed instead of old 4speed or expensive t56.
And with the E-brake on the front tires you can engage it a little bit and get better burnouts for distance
I'm looking forward to the budget Ebody build! Id love some advice on making my 74 Challenger ride and handle better without going all out with the $6000 K frame swaps.
I,m so happy that you can make a video.
That all wheel drive cutlass chained to the garage does a good burn out
Truck v 10 is only 4 inches longer than a 360. The oil pump is in front. Do one~!
Wild Willie Borsch in the Winged Express sideways burnouts.
With the number of foxbodys the boys at Motortrend have been cutting up, they're single handedly increasing the market value of them.
I think they're touching on the topic of a Powerskids as well as Burnouts.
Nice matching shorts. Haha
A beautiful burnout usually is done with a pickup truck. Smoke should pour out between the cab and bed, then make "Wings" away from the tires, like you get when you have side pipes dumped in front of the tires.
The keys too a good burnout
1. Smoke here
2. Smoke there
3. Smoke everywhere
4. Control
Winning.

Legendary Motorcar in Canada built a 70 'Cuda with a Viper V10. Videos of the SuperCuda are online.
I hate to remind Dave... a one legger won Hotrod Drag Week burnout contest this year

Yeah to the guys who replied I worded that incorrectly, I know that that old 136 cubic inch engine can't be modified to get any real power out of it, I meant a modern small V8 could be really interesting.

Jesse C one of those engines with 10:1 compression and 15 pounds of boost it'd probably blow the cylinder heads over 2 counties
My thought on the 318 compression ratio issue is add a turbo.

I predict Finnegan and Freiburger won't be a duo much longer. I have noticed cracks and somewhat forced grins recently. RIP proper Roadkill. It was nice while it lasted.

#DoStuffWithFinnegan ?
Really enjoy watching Roadkill. You guys do a great job . May I ask where this all takes place ? Where you can drag up and down those farm roads ?
Do a big vote on facebook or twitter and see how many people want to see another bonneville episode. I would love to see another episode of that on roadkill.

What about using a NV4500 5-speed Ram truck trans for the Vanishing Paint Challenger?
Smallest production V8 in America= Conley Stinger 609, and you can get one SUPERCHARGED even :) BTW, 609 stands for 6.09 cubic inches or approximately 100cc .
if you had a fan blowing on you guys , the bugs would not bug you as mush ?
"MRrreeeer sideways" I totally understood that. Both times 🍻

The Dailmer 2.5 hemi and the V860 are the two I know of
1970 Rallycross Challenger? Sounds good.
Steve is one of the very few guys I know with a ponytail I'd actually trust. Never trust a man in a ponytail. And never trust a man with two names.
Is David sitting in front of the blower for the Duster?
You guys should do an RK garage of replacing the Dash on Dave's truck. LMC makes all the parts.
You be turning it into an all girls garage episode. Gotta utilize used stuff.
Nice matching shorts guys! LOL
What is the difference between an Auzzie burnout and a US burnout? Is this like a metric vs. imperial thing? o_0
Keep the roadkill cars on roadkill
what about a truck in 4x4 all time lol ? burn outs brake stance ? is that to hard on the trans or the diff ?
Aaayyyyeeee some half decent free content
I've seen burnouts that leave literal flaming tracks of rubber behind. I don't know how you could beat that.
I would love an episode where Dulcich and Frieburger do a build off against Tony Angelo and Finnegan.
matching shorts?
would you guys build a Mad Max XB Ford Falcon from here in Australia and transport it to America ???????
I've got a spare truck v10 i want to swap into a ranger or a d50 i think that would be awesome.
Are you guys going to do a 75 th roadkill shootout with all the cars
Did you two hit up a 2 for 1 sale for y'alls shorts?
I want to see more stuff on the ram v10
Ford V8-60. From the late 1930's-40's. Displacement of 136ci. Putting out a whopping 60hp.
Dash swap for the V10 truck?
You done goofed man. You could've just put one of those custom cut dash carpets on it and it would've taken another 15 years to crack apart!
Nah I have no room to talk, my car's dash is getting cracks now that I could've avoided easily.
Was there a twofer sale on the camo shorts?
summernats mate, enter it some time and I reckon you'd have some good fun.
I daily a 1996 ram 2500 with the 8.0l v10 I would love to see one swapped into a muscle car or muscle truck. I can’t say enough good things about that engine.
On the v10 truck, you can bay the dash in MERCADO LIBRE, thats th e mexico ebay ,made out of fiber glass.
What was that barrel in the background with the altenator on top of it the white rusty one.
How to do an awesome burnout.
Step 1: Get an Australian to do it...
Step 2: See step 1.
One of the best I have ever seen was Mark Arblaster's WAR440 and he put a set all-terrain 4wd tyres because they have heaps more rubber on them. The trick is to get the car is top gear and have the wheels going at top speed asap.
or get cleetus mcfarland to do it
I want to like this comment more than once.
What if Australian burnouts are only better in Australia because the pavement is hotter?
Well too bad we don't have the falcadores being manufactured anymore sadly no more fresh burnouts
