I totally disagree about the road trips. Yeah, there might have been not much classic roadkill breakdown drama in those episodes you mentioned, but they had some of the best cinematography in all of Motor Trends history and I think that is because of less breakdowns and therefor more time to shoot great shots. Especially the tow truck episode was amazing in that regard.
+VicariousClouds I agree. I like the adventures even when they aren't broke down and just sight see. I can never afford to travel like these guys so it's nice to see it from the couch
While I also agree with this, the view counts don't lie. Those road trip episodes that nothing breaks are some of the lowest viewed episodes on the list.
I don't agree the breakdowns equal drama. I would watch a roadtrip with a sick vehicle, cool scenery, junkyards trucks, weirdos, whatever, all day long.
So what your saying is watching someone or two someone’s master their craft and show how real technicians they are isn’t drama maybe you need to look up the definition of drama it’s not always dramatic if it creates tense and or moments whether or not you question how or what is going to be fixed or figured out in that situation
I think theres one David for each car and I remember him saying in another Q&A he has around 19-21 but his most his 42 so I believe theres 42 clones of him
30+ years ago, Car Craft ran an article about a GM project where they put an S-10 V-6 engine/trans in a Chevette. Since the stock car was only 1800 pounds, the result was faster than a Z/28 and approaching Corvette of the time, one of the reasons GM never produced it. This sounds like it would be a project made for Roadkill.
Steven Bauer I remember when they built the Bad Seed Chevette. I thought it would be cool if they got Steve Magnante on here, but I thought someone said they don't get along?
Thank you for not dramatizing your episodes, I'm so tired of car shows that are less about cars and tech, than they are about drama... You guys are awesome keep it up!
Every time one of my cars breaks down and threatens to strand me, I think to myself, "What would Finnegan and Freiburger do? This wouldn't stop them!" and I fix the car, sometimes temporarily with the same "techniques" you guys use! Thank you for your inspiration.
Rotsun diff issues: R200 diffs from either 280Z's, 280ZX's or 300ZX's are commonly swapped into high horsepower first gen z's. They use CV joints and don't have the bolt issues you're seeing with the R180.
With regards to the Rotson. Have you considered wirelocking the bolts into the driveshafts? That and using Loctite 2701 threadlock it should stop those bolts falling out. Regards , a british Roadkill fan and mechanical engineer :)
I love the comparison episode idea. But I do love the parking lot brawls with the cars that are still running, those are my favorite re-runs to go watch! So hopefully a new one of those are on their way back!
I have an idea Roadkill vs Hoonigans -You both have a death Kart -You both have a tri five Chevy gasser -The viva Ranchero vs their Ute Basically you guys have some similar things so like in the Roadkill vs Subaru video just have a competition.
I love watching the roadtrip videos just because of the anticipation of breaks and then at the end I'm like whew! they made it no problem. More roadtrip videos please!
On the Rotsun diff hardware... try using all steel non-directional locknuts. Same dimensions as a regular nut but have indentations in the sides of the nuts that make them prevailing torque locknuts.
The episodes where you guys fix cars put of the junk yards are best. Even though the episode with "harry" I believe it was, the tow truck... Was "boring", I still enjoyed it. Love roadkill.
episode 100-110, go around the world, car budget of 3000 dollars per country. If the car blows up and you cant find parts where ever you are you have to buy another car and keep going, if you can make it back to California you win an ice cold beer. Cars must be driven where ever possible with ocean crossings being one example of an exclusion. Weekly vlogs can fill in the gaps between episodes. Obviously the two of you will need to shuck all responsibility to do this trip, if expense is an issue I recommend you start a crowd funding campaign.4 million of the 5 million subs you have are only subbed because of roadkill, I figure you gotta be able to get at least a couple hundred grand out of them. Go do it.
guys a Subarute rear diff and housing are interchangeable with the Ratsun and LSD is available straight from a Subaru with various ratios..... and some of the Subies make sick horsepower.
I agree the latest Colorado looks big, and certain not a small truck too! Probably not full-size but definitely bigger than most "mid-size" used to be... we get them as 2.5L & 2.8L Duratec here, powerful truck.
Ratson- built t45, on the rear diff flange, just fine thread tap it and put some arp bolts with thread locker. And do some land speed stuff, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, etc., use a hellcat swapped dart.
super ep idea, both of you craiglist a car each and road trip to every state, race a strip in every state and then cannon ball it back to HQ, first one back wins.
I'll be honest, the ford station wagon video was my absolute favourite episode. I'm from England and I'm a total American patriot, I love America and seeing real America on that episode was perfect for me. I think "boring" roadtrip episodes should pop up a little more often on roadkill.
i dont watch this show to see you getting stranded and fiy the car. I mean its a nice extra to an episode to see you fix something with cableties. I guess most of the people are here to see you guys drive cars and have fun, no matter if there is drama or not.
You can keep your Independent suspension on the Datsun. Currie Enterprises sell a 9inch housing for IRS stuff. Get a centre section, plop it in. Some DSS axles can be made to fit.
Thank y'all's for no fake brake down$😉 & thanks for sharing All these shows on you tube. Not just the road kills but all of them. Well I forgotten what I was going to say o yeah ya'lls have old timers disease to 😂 aluminum is good for you 😊
Rotsun rear end. R32 gtr diff and axles would work, use the r32 hubs aswell, Use the diff cover off the diff in it on the gtr diff. Or simply buy an an r200 from a skyline and use the diff and shafts, Stock skyline stuff is super super strong like 700hp at the wheels sort of strong,
there are plenty of choices for IRS that can hold up to that kind of power, solid axle is the easy route, but if you really wanted to keep IRS there are center sections that can take it.
I had an 89 civic hatchback that sat under a bridge for 3 years, unregistered under the 5 freeway in San Deigo. I put a little work into it and drove it to Seattle. I took the craziest route and it still made it. I was really hoping for a roadkill moment but I paid $400 for her 8 years ago and will just won't give up. I filmed it and everything but like you said tradegy sells.
You should be able to fix the Rotsun axle issue by threading in studs to the axle flanges . Then you can make the threads as long as you need to be able to get stop nuts on them where the bolt heads used to be. Weld the studs to the back sides of the flanges for a little extra insurance. Is there any chance of adding extra holes to double the number of bolt holes (8 vs 4) in the flanges and outer CV shells?
Rotsun rear end idea: ford 9 inch center section made for an irs. That or 5th gen camaro or mustang etc irs bolted into the rotsun. Cut the shafts you have to fit into whatever mounting system they need using the rotsun control arms just with an updated heavy duty rear end.
Was thinking of the Rotson an in Australia we change the rear ends out for the 200s/s13/s14.. can get loads of gear ratios and well its nissan too. Holds up to the HP you have and still interpreted rear.. Gearbox T56 or grab a 350z gear box.. 350z gearbox has a 1.1 5th gear and hold up again to the HP but saying the T56 will bolt up the the ford engine with no mods.. Cool show and looking forward to more.
Take a rear end from an M3 E36. Limited slip locker stock and it will take the power for the Rotsuns powerplant. Plenty of gearing options for it and you can find them for cheap.
For me best episodes was like the cdua where they start with a shell, build a car from parts and then accomplish something, if theres a small road trip there then thats icing on the cake. Totally acgree with mikes "so much in, so much out" theory, have had the same thoughts for a long time, also when you're pushing so much like freiburger your memory gets worn out like a cylinder bore and it cant hold onto things anymore. Would love the rotsun be done properly with as few compromises as possible, NO SOLID AXLE with that much power and so little wieght its practically built for drag racing (just dont hit the wall), just stick a good rear end in it and while the stick is more fun getting an auto in it probably wouldnt hurt too much (make it heavy though).
I think a road trip would be a great episode, an idea is that you guys buy a car locally and take it on a trip and on the way stop at junkyards and find bolt on parts that will improve the car. So the idea is the do up the car a little bit more the further you drive and see how good or bad the car will be when you get it back home
The cloned (Cyborg) Freiburger is easy to spot in these videos, he's the one that swings constantly at flies that aren't really there, an obvious tick in this model of "cloned-Dave".
Perfect episode idea for you. Come to Anchorage Alaska and buy my 74 C3 Vette for 6k, fix its quirks, and see if you can make it back to David's place!! Im sure it will not disappoint with its faults and what not. Its a L82 350 with an auto and only 69k original miles.
Guys, if you are that worried about the rear end of the Rotsun exploding just get a Ford 8.8 IRS on it out of a mid 2000's Explorer, from that you have a variety of options for the axles, from U joints to Porsche 930 Style CV joints
Man I love the show very informative and you both seem so down to earth. It would be so awesome I would love to join the team and wrench but I'm sure a bunch of gearheads day the exact same thing.
The rotson needs the rear carrier taken apart and the bolts need to be installed in the output flanges and put back together with the nuts on the outside. if there is no room for a socket then weld a tube to the nut and another nut on the end of the tube.
Here is an idea for an episode. Go to a junkyard get a cheap car running. Then travel roughly 200 miles to another junkyard and do it again. On your way to an event or drag race. I think this will cost a lot of money but be a super interesting episode.
On one of your shows about the boat it was said the boat sucks itself along. Are you sure it isn't thrust? The inlet faces down so how would it pull itself along and not down? Water thrust is just like a jet plane.
I loved the Harry tow episode and the was drama it was effing cold outside. It was an old truck you just have to use it in future episode. If you use it, put the gremlin in the episode too.
I don't think necessarily something has to break every time for it to be a good episode I think just watching you guys going to pick up the vehicles and driving them cross country or wherever they're going I find that fun and interesting and worth watching not just them blowing up and you having to struggle actually that gets old and always breaking down truthfully I like them when they're not always breaking down go figure LOL keep up the great vids guys?
Episode suggestion. Drive the muscle truck to Key West, Florida. Buy a boat. Remove the engine from the muscle truck. Install the engine in the boat. Sail to Cuba in the boat. Remove the engine from the boat and install the engine in an old car. Race or Rally the car with your new Cuban friends. Give the car and boat away. Great potential for drama, death and mayhem. Great scenery. Great opportunity to expand your market!
Show idea junkyard shoot out between HRG, Roadkill and Dirt Every Day. Each show picks their own car and they have to race back to Cali. First one back wins or like an auto cross/drag racing to determine the winner
Hello Guy's, can't you pull that inner axle drive plate off and put the Bolts in pointing toward the tire's and weld them, then you could put the nylock nuts on? I use Nylock nut's when I can, The Rotson Rock's, when it Run's
Can we get this "thumbs up'd" please. I'd like for this to get seen.
+VicariousClouds I agree. I like the adventures even when they aren't broke down and just sight see. I can never afford to travel like these guys so it's nice to see it from the couch
While I also agree with this, the view counts don't lie. Those road trip episodes that nothing breaks are some of the lowest viewed episodes on the list.
i'm with ya on that, TheRealFLX81.
Road trips are cool always. I don't care if the car doesn't break down. Something always happens on a road trip.
I don't agree the breakdowns equal drama. I would watch a roadtrip with a sick vehicle, cool scenery, junkyards trucks, weirdos, whatever, all day long.

The clone of David wears shoes. Thats how you spot the clone.
Big_Adam_2050 already seen a Dutch clone of Freiburger... 😂
Shoes AND long pants.
I think theres one David for each car and I remember him saying in another Q&A he has around 19-21 but his most his 42 so I believe theres 42 clones of him
There's nothing like Dave killing his feet or toes with an engine hoist taking them out as it slips. LMAO!!!!!
thanks for showing this video for free
Thanks for the Q&A.
I miss when the Q&A was part of Hot Rod Garage...
Screw that!!!! Harry Tow was awesome!!!!
one of my favorite episodes

@2:34: He said "rineDICK"... Classic Beavis (Freiberger) and Butthead (Finnegan) moment... as Finnegan loses it!
Hahahaha 😂😂
YEP! He closes is mouth right away.
Perry Castellano funny
Every time one of my cars breaks down and threatens to strand me, I think to myself, "What would Finnegan and Freiburger do? This wouldn't stop them!" and I fix the car, sometimes temporarily with the same "techniques" you guys use! Thank you for your inspiration.

Sf Mason i was thinking the same thing or a low profile nylock nut
i'm gonna be really annoying and point out that it's called "Rotsun" from all the Rotten metal and the make being a Datsun
+1 for low profile nylock
Wirelocks for the win... That's a great idea used by many motorsports
I love the comparison episode idea. But I do love the parking lot brawls with the cars that are still running, those are my favorite re-runs to go watch! So hopefully a new one of those are on their way back!
Personally love the road trips even with or without the breakdowns Roadkill is still the best day on the web ever!
Thanks for making this free
Why thank them when in an older videos they said they would always do the Q&As and they'd always be free?
diltzm because you know being thankful is nice thing to have?
@@davidmitchell5638Nah. That's like when a store raises prices and then holds a "sale" at the original price.
I have an idea
Roadkill vs Hoonigans
-You both have a death Kart
-You both have a tri five Chevy gasser
-The viva Ranchero vs their Ute
Basically you guys have some similar things so like in the Roadkill vs Subaru video just have a competition.
9:20 I called it on an earlier episode lol! The real David wear flipflops and his clone wear boots ;)
Two of the coolest dudes out there... chemistry, knowledge, and beer.
I love watching the roadtrip videos just because of the anticipation of breaks and then at the end I'm like whew! they made it no problem. More roadtrip videos please!
It's fine if nothing breaks, still entertaining.
On the Rotsun diff hardware... try using all steel non-directional locknuts. Same dimensions as a regular nut but have indentations in the sides of the nuts that make them prevailing torque locknuts.
The road trip episodes are my favorite. The dart in the map is one of my favorite
F bomb vs Blashemi in a drag race, please.
Timothy Thompson Fbomb has already ran in the 8s... Not even close to being a fair race.
The episodes where you guys fix cars put of the junk yards are best. Even though the episode with "harry" I believe it was, the tow truck... Was "boring", I still enjoyed it. Love roadkill.

MCM told in their part 2 episode that the Subarute is somewhere in the USA for more upgrades. at the 9K racing (garage)
You should build a big block lawnmower
That sounds about as American as it gets.
I have a question for finnegan:
How's the eye? :)
Andrew Finck lol from when he got hit with the ratchet or whatever
Voltic Reactor lol and Tony didnt even blink.
Tony was like man up punk
Critical Thinker I shoulda gone with the winky face ;)
and did Tony ever give a fuck?
Great job guys, looking forward to 75. Thanks!
when are you guy's coming back to Australia hope its soon road kill is awesome and has motivated me to so much
Lol, I saw the Rotsun at SEMA this past Tuesday. I'm not sure I really believed it before, but you two are officially ridiculous. Kudos, gentlemen!
guys a Subarute rear diff and housing are interchangeable with the Ratsun and LSD is available straight from a Subaru with various ratios..... and some of the Subies make sick horsepower.

from australia and we love you here keep up the good work boys
Y'all guys rule. I love watching your videos!
This was fun to watch! Thanks for posting
Just watched Harry Tow episode again- It was great- really atmospheric- wasnt boring at all.
I think a cool idea for a episode is to get a couple old diesel trucks and have a competition with them, kinda like the episode with the old cop cars.
Q45 diff in the Rotsun. I've got a buddy who runs one in his LS6 powered 280z, which went 11s, and it's been just fine.
Ratson- built t45, on the rear diff flange, just fine thread tap it and put some arp bolts with thread locker. And do some land speed stuff, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, etc., use a hellcat swapped dart.

I remember this was at the end of some roadkill eps.
You mean Hot Rod Garage?
They did it on both.
Think the subaru ute got parted out on Facebook. Saw the turbo setup for sale on there along with some of its other parts.
there are plenty of choices for IRS that can hold up to that kind of power, solid axle is the easy route, but if you really wanted to keep IRS there are center sections that can take it.

IIRC the MCM guys kept the Subarute in a garage somehwere for any future visits to the US.

How about an engine masters or roadkill featuring an inline 6? Slant 6, Ford 300 etc.
Road trips were the heart and soul of Roadkill,
ah the good ol' days.
Was thinking of the Rotson an in Australia we change the rear ends out for the 200s/s13/s14.. can get loads of gear ratios and well its nissan too. Put a dually or a big truck rear end in the Rotsun!
there is a kit for the rotsun that lets you install a 8.8 center section from an explorer
Take a rear end from an M3 E36. Limited slip locker stock and it will take the power for the Rotsuns powerplant. Plenty of gearing options for it and you can find them for cheap.
the aluminum 528 hemi...what in the world did that short block cost?!
I'd guess around U$10-12k
www.moparproshop.com/big_block_hemi_crate_engines
22,250$
Charles Confalone Short block, not complete, dyno'd engine assembly.
"sponsored by Dodge"
David Regan And? Provided by a dude who had a spare one in his garage. That short block didn’t come from Dodge. Jesus some people are thick.
You should Do a episode with the Leaf blower Monza vs rotson !!
I think a road trip would be a great episode, an idea is that you guys buy a car locally and take it on a trip and on the way stop at junkyards and find bolt on parts that will improve the car. So the idea is the do up the car a little bit more the further you drive and see how good or bad the car will be when you get it back home
Best "Extra" by FAR!!
@finnegan and freiburger, a shop called 9k racing has it now. I don't know if they just left it or what but its there lol.
Why not pull the rear apart and weld nuts on the back sides of the flanges for the axle shafts in the rotsun?
rotson rear axle attachment, use serrated flange nuts and bolts if you cant get nylok nuts...
you could get the T56 and get a midshift conversion. I have that on my T56 and it fits in my S10 pretty nice
roadkil im a fan ive watched you for 5 years
The cloned (Cyborg) Freiburger is easy to spot in these videos, he's the one that swings constantly at flies that aren't really there, an obvious tick in this model of "cloned-Dave".
Ford 8.8 center section from a Lincoln IRS would hold up if you could make custom axels for it.
More F-bomb please.
Andrew Finck no it wil be like a American choppers
Thefreakyfreek how?
Thefreakyfreek you know he's referring to the car?
Here is an idea for an episode. Go to a junkyard get a cheap car running. Then travel roughly 200 miles to another junkyard and do it again. On your way to an event or drag race. I think this will cost a lot of money but be a super interesting episode.
More Dulcich on Roadkill. Give him an episode. That guy is entertaining and has lots of obscure info and tricks to share.
Mike L. Exactly.
I agree
He is the co host of roadkill garage.
8.8 aluminum center out of an 03-10 Ford explorer for the Rotsun rear maybe ?
Do a corvette rear end in the Rotsun
Strong and independent.
Harry tow was one of my favourite episodes.
You guys should toss the rear end out of a 300zx into your Rotsun. It would hold up to more power without being a live axle.
CTS rear end for the Rotsun like the Flyin Miata guys run
Dodge demon + general mayhem =awesome episode
You guys should get a chevette and do a bunch of stuff with it! Put a huge crate chevy engine in it!!
"...and we've got behind the scenes extra footage, tech tips -you name it."
Do you have midgets and carnival music?
When are you guys going to do some builds of 4.3 V6 ? There are so many more V6’s now then V-8’s. For the love of all that is holy!
for the rotsun just put the diff out of a c3 corvette then you can still have half shafts and there pretty bullet proof
Damn man. You guys were in Riverside, Where I live and I didn't know it. :( I want to hang out with Roadkill sometime.
I would love to see mike and dirt head Dave vs lucky and Dave frieburger vs Tony and Steve on a wild, badass build!! That would epic!!
I'd rather watch a "boring show" than you ever start making up drama like a damn reality TV show. Keep up the good work guys!
Why not call up like strange and get an independent s60 center section for the rotsun?
