As unintersesting as the racetrack it's based on imo. I have played this track at least 25 times by now and it STILL isn't memorable enough so that it stays in my head for more than 3 minutes afterwards
Honestly I love just how much the music changes between being in first place and the final lap being a little more hyper and sped up. For some reason that really effects some songs for me like for example Wario shipyard leading and final lap is shockingly a banger to me. Mario kart rarely misses
Moonview Highyway deserves THAT spot, is just as perfect as a song can be. I was obsessed with the WII version as a child, once i discovered the internet i was fascinated I could listen to it without having to turn on the wii and stay tin that track in time trials, i could NOT stop listening to it. When Moonview Highway was announced to be in the DLC packages, i was happy solely cause I loved the song and wanted to hear it remastered. noticing a really strong theme throughout the very lowest-ranked ones: they’ve almost all been from genres that don’t focus on melody, besides the ghost tracks (and Boardwalk is still an example of what I’m thinking of). there’s a lot of percussive stuff down there, some drum-n-bass, some looping arpeggios at the front of the mix, much more rhythm than lead. a bunch of them I really get though, they don’t exactly give the mood you’d expect from Mario Kart.
16:58 The only thing I can think of when I hear this song is that one part of it that sounds like it’s about to go into the main melody of Stardust Speedway Bad Future JP but never does.
I like how every time time schaff points out that he likes the xylophone in a track, it’s not a xylophone playing, it’s pretty much always marimba and vibraphone. In music park too, I think it’s a glockenspiel that you drive on. Mallet instruments are wacky man I’ll quit being snobby, this video was very entertaining
I actually really like the frantic, almost overwhelming songs, like Banshee Boardwalk and Grumble Volcano, because they bear down on you so much. Admittedly, Ninja Hideaway does this concept much better, but it feels repetitive to me.

I hope he takes Beach.mp3 being collectively rated so low well

Let's hear his take on this divissive list by Schaff.
16:04 Fun fact: the whistling does exist in eight deluxe, but only in the frontrunning version
This man has never attended a music class in his life
This ranking coming out the same time as McDonald’s releasing new Mario kart 8 Deluxe toys is pretty good timing on Schaff’s part.
Wait really
33:35 heard this song and got a fight or flight response due to this being my channel trailer's opening music for nearly 4 years now and me having heard it almost every time i open up my youtube shortcut
You should probably change that for your own mental health 😅
LOL that's rough
My favorite one that I remember is coconut mall, I saw a jazz pianist react to it, he sincerely discussed it and seemed impressed by it as a piece of music
23:23 Heresy.
Im SO glad that Schaffs number 1 is the same as mine! I seriously thought I was the only one who that was hands down the best song in the Mario Kart Series. Hooray for me!
This is approximately the kind of video I wanted to watch right now, thank you Schaff
2:21 disappointment in the… huh?
Yeah that caught me off guard but I can see why he did that.
@@stilesstratton9566 didn’t he do that in his other song rankings
@@UltimateDespairado wait, there are others? My mistake.
@@stilesstratton9566That just means the ones for Steven Universe, Phineas and Ferb, and Total Drama: World Tour.
@UltimateDespairado To be fair I think he only did that for Steven Universe cause of how horrible Potluck was
Personally, I couldn't believe how low Sky High Sundae was. I feel that song goes SO HARD for an ice cream track! The bassline and the drums are INSANE!! So I wasn't expecting it place lower than 100 but we all have our tastes.
For some reason that really effects some songs for me like for example
Wario shipyard leading and final lap is shockingly a banger to me. Mario kart rarely misses
The theater kid really likes jazz vibes, what a shocking revelation
Insert Bulborb face here
Moonview Highyway deserves THAT spot, is just as perfect as a song can be.
The fact that both idorations of the song are a 10/10, and the final solo drums was added, blew me away.
PD: I run marathons, and I always put that song on whenever im 5 kilometers away from finishing, 30 minutes of glory before ending.
All 4 variants of moonview are S tier mario kart songs from me in their own unique ways. Moonview is peak
@@BlueMarioGaming Yeah, not only does each of the 4 variations sound distinct from one another, they're also really good tracks to listen to.
You know the music is exceptional when it can single handedly fool people into thinking that things are actually happening during a race on Moonview Highway in MK8
am I crazy for thinking it's not that good
It was always a banger and I’m glad people are finally realizing it. 😆
You deserve jail time for putting Waluigi Pinball at 94.
absolutely, that should be a crime
nah totally deserved imo
@@resoundingthudNah, calling Waluigi's Pinball theme not iconic as the track it's a pretty sh*tty take IMO

58:42 I'm surprised he didn't talk about the Oddysey segment in this song
Shout out to Grumble Volcano and that perfectly timed intense chorus that plays alongside the volcano erupting in the first lap while you avoid the barrage of fire balls

Forgetting that "William" is a very common name, reading "technically, William is the one listening to this right now", chuckling to myself. "Heh, yeah, I am!"
..."WAIT WHAT THE F-*dolphin noise*"
I'd love to add that the little flute flourishes in the Sydney Sprint song are a nod to the flute used in Men At Work's iconic song "Land Down Under". At least that's what I tell myself when I hear them.
I feel like Ice Ice outpost was the reason this video got made and I'm all about it
Honestly, the music for “Accelerated Toilet” unironically sounds more like something that Frank Sinatra would sing along to.
Rosalina's Ice World being that low is CRIMINAL! I was OBSESSED with it when the remix came out!
I wouldn’t say I am obsessed with it, but it is a really good track. Definitely thought it was going to be higher
It is in that special category of songs that 90% of people will probbaly not like, or straight up hate, but those that love it are obsessed with it. You can have a seat at the table with us original Los Angeles Laps music fans.
I really don’t understand his disinterest in the track, both as a track and the amazing music.
@@rootbourne4454 The track I can understrand, it's such a weird theme for a track.
Ok so it's an Ice World we race through? NAH make it Rosalina's for no apparent reason!
I'd have appreciated if we got an actual Rosalina track instead of whatever that track is supposed to be. Have us race around the Observatory and my money is YOURS.
bruh fr i honestly was expecting it to be #1
Fun fact my band teacher is the person who played the sax for dolphin shoals in Mario kart 8 deluxe

robert is not pleased with this placement
This is one of those lists that i can respect, like violin biasas and bits of nostalgia , but with so much variety in instrumentation and styles in mk, it would be impossible to agree to even a top 10 , great vid
Take a shot every time Schaff says "heavenly"
I forgot to comment on this video back when it came out, but I will now.
Wonderful work, Schaff. The music really adds to the courses in Mario Kart, and they are all basically bangers in their own right.
Glad you really enjoyed doing this review, too!
noticing a really strong theme throughout the very lowest-ranked ones: they’ve almost all been from genres that don’t focus on melody, besides the ghost tracks (and Boardwalk is still an example of what I’m thinking of). there’s a lot of percussive stuff down there, some drum-n-bass, some looping arpeggios at the front of the mix, much more rhythm than lead.
a bunch of them I really get though, they don’t exactly give the mood you’d expect from Mario Kart.
Good ranking schaff, but i do wonder how you’d rank every course based on how much water is in the course
If the coconut mall theme doesn't go in the top 5, I'm going to throw coconuts at my local mall
You can already go to the police station for vandalism

16:58 The only thing I can think of when I hear this song is that one part of it that sounds like it’s about to go into the main melody of Stardust Speedway Bad Future JP but never does.
I'm hearing Flying Battery from S&K.
Another similar situation: Every time I listen to World 4 from Yoshi's Woolly World, my mind automatically links it to Star Light Zone from Sonic 1.
I like how every time time schaff points out that he likes the xylophone in a track, it’s not a xylophone playing, it’s pretty much always marimba and vibraphone. In music park too, I think it’s a glockenspiel that you drive on. Mallet instruments are wacky man
I’ll quit being snobby, this video was very entertaining
I really needed this today Schaff, thank you for this gift
It is weird to watch a Schaffrillas ranking video and NOT have the “disappointment in the game of life” or “zelda majora’s mask” jingles being used.
the Galaxy star ranking was also structured like this

I actually really like the frantic, almost overwhelming songs, like Banshee Boardwalk and Grumble Volcano, because they bear down on you so much. Admittedly, Ninja Hideaway does this concept much better, but it feels repetitive to me.
Ye grumble volcano was one of my fav Mario kart songs
HEY, _PUNK,_ THIS IS MY COMMENT
You stole it from the comments section of GWallPro's "All 123 Mario Kart SONGS Ranked With 1 Word!"
I mean, my opinion still stands, but like, get your own. Loser.
This is my comment! You took it from "All 123 Mario Kart SONGS Ranked With 1 Word!", you creep!
It doesn't even make that much sense here, considering it was a rebuttal to how low both of those songs were ranked in GWallPro's original video, versus the places they're all ranked here. Get your own opinion, ya phony crook!
Just wanted to mention I thought this video was especially well edited. Especially around top 30 or so. Really loving these.

🤓🤓 Actually Schaff, the Donut Plains song in 8 has the whistle, but you need to front run in 1st place to hear it.
I needed this… and I didn’t know I needed a music ranking…
I love the inaccessible Mario Kart running gags of Boston Building and Tony Soprano. It’s the little things.
I've just finished binging ur whole mario kart series and you drop THIS??!!
I’d agree that DS’s Shroom Ridge isn’t much more than “Optimistic”, but MK8 Deluxe’s rendition of Shroom Ridge is easily my favorite theme in any Mario kart game. I’d describe it as "Exhilarating"!
Speaking as someone who loves the original Shroom Ridge's music anyway, the remix just takes things to a whole new level! Glad to see it up in S tier (and even managing to be a slot above Mount Wario!)
Sweet Sweet Canyon being so low is a crime against humanity

I couldn't disagree any more, Yoshi Circuit's music in MK8 is that game at the height of its jazzy powers. I had to go back through the vid after it ended because I missed when this one came up and was certain that it was near the top somewhere.
Legit, the songs are one of my favorite part of each track. My favorites are, in no particular order: Waluigi Stadium (original), DK Summit (original), Wii Rainbow Road (Wii and 8 versions), Sydney Sprint, Accelerated Toilet, Yoshi's Island, N64 Rainbow Road (8 version), Mount Wario and Ice Ice Outpost, among a few others
23:40 HE REALLY THOUGHT HE COULD LET THAT SLIDE.....
I hate the 8 remix, I actually cannot stand that one, DS for life
Toads factory is not only my favourite song in the mariokart series but also just my favourite track hands down so I’m so
