I totally agree with you. As a now retired campground owner, I repeatedly stressed to my staff and even my family that sometimes it's not what you say but how you say out that makes the difference. One incident that comes to mind was when my high school age daughter dealt with a difficult customer in the friendliest way and was able to resolve the situation. When I saw her a bit later in our home she told me she wanted to scream but she remembered what I told her. I was so proud of her for remaining so polite and that customer returned many times after that. I guess they were just having a rough day.
I love when I walk into a campground after days and hours of travel to be greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome! But it seems like it's so rare these days. I recently had a wonderful experience walking into the door of a new campground. When that happens, I always leave them a very positive review and mention the worker by name.

It cost owners nothing yet gains a positive stay.
For me, a positive greeting upon arrival is important, especially after a long travel day. We recently stayed at a rather pricey WI rv park. I love it when I get to joke and carry on with the person behind the desk. Very disappointing that they don't like what they do. Great review, you could tell you were trying to find the good side to the campground..
Thanks for your input as always. It sounds like it is a 'take it or leave it' situation, not conducive for repeat business. From the looks of the grounds, there appears to be a lack of accountability in their business...along with a shortage of cash flow to get things done.
No cell service is all about camping folks. Been camping 35+ Years and wifi & cell service should be last of people's concerns. Nature and enjoying time with family should be the top priority.
Absolutely unacceptable. I am surprised you even stayed at all. Hope everyone leaves reviews like others have so we know about these places and avoid them.
We are originally from NJ but moved to Utah 14 years ago. We have done 4 cross country trips in our RVs. What we found was campgrounds in the northeast are generally older and smaller than the rest of the country. You should have seen us squeezing our 5th wheel into a campsite in the Poconos! You got to come out west. There are some really nice campgrounds and a lot of new ones as well. Thanks for the review.
We once stayed at a campground where the staff drove around at 10 pm telling everyone to put out their campfires for the night. They made another loop around soon after and if you didn't have your fire out they drove the bucket loader to the lake, scooped up a bucket of water and dumped it over your fire right then and there. You had to see it to believe it.
Perception makes all the difference. In Real Estate sales, a small kitchen is described as, "So conveniently appointed, you can cook an entire meal without moving your feet." A run down house is excused when you say, "This home is owned by a young couple with children, and sometimes they have to prioritize their time for the kids." Always find the positive in everything.
The whole town of Jackson has horrible cell and wifi. I've lived in this area for 50 years. I'm glad I saw this video, I was looking to park my trailer there for the season, but chose another one instead. Now I'm glad I did.
Yes, $94 is too much for this campground. The Northeast is expensive, and not RV friendly. Too many people and too much traffic. But we enjoyed our time there as there is so much history and interesting places to visit. We would like to visit DC, Maine, and the Great New York Fair again.
We have a number of campgrounds around southern Wisconsin that have owners like this. They are still busy because it's so hard to get a site on a spur of the moment weekend. It's also impossible to get those high school kids to work during the summer anymore. That's why campgrounds look run down. And ours are almost all over $50 per night.
Just got Starlink, the standard Gen 3 kit, with the mobile regional subscription, $150 pre month, but you can pause it when not using it. It's an incredible system, I don't think even in that campground Starlink would have any problem. I'm a big KOA fan, when we are on the road going to our end destination, we will stay at KOA Journey's or KOA Holidays campgrounds, every KOA campground has been very consistent, clean and the staff has always been friendly throughout the US, this year we have stayed at 9 KOA's.
Thanks for sharing the Starlink solution John. It’s something we will probably get in the near future. I just need some time to figure out the roof mounting and if it’s worth the time as we may not be in Nelly much longer.
Totally reasonable perspective you guys have here. It’s disappointing to see campgrounds with “great bones” just flounder. I bet you would have even been ok paying a little more if the issues you experienced weren’t present.
Welcome to NJ R I'd like to say the attitude you got was unusual but it is NJ. Now before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, we are born & lived in NJ all our lives. We recently escaped Everything you mentioned is New Jersey. Sad, and why we left. If you ever travel through again, consider the cape May NJ campgrounds.
We stayed there about 10 years ago and this review is pretty accurate. We heard while we were that that it used to a great clean well taken care of campground when her dad ran it but has gone down hill since she took over. Not to mention she stuck us in THE most awkward spot just inside the security gate (we had a 32 ft 5th wheel). Luckily my hubby is a good driver and a couple of guys from the site next us helped guide us in (a lot of going forward, going backward, forward, backward to inch ourselves in). We were meeting up with my in-laws at the front gate one day to head out to an activity and the owner wanted to charge my mother in-law $20 just to come to see if we were almost ready to go!! She wasn't staying just wanted to see how much longer we would be. I would not stay there again either but if you are still in there area check out the campbell soup company museum, we saw it driving by but didn't have time to check it out. There is (or was) an AMAZING pizza place nearby I think it was called Enzio's or something like that? I think it began with an E.
Possibly the owner set the energy for your stay in her attitude. Way too much money given the lack of a welcoming attitude and lack of upkeep. Thank you for your very fair evaluation.
I worked for a KOA for a season and let me tell you, YOU ARE NOT A KAREN. The location I worked at was central to great locations and the highway and it was still semi-rural. The camp itself, upon pulling in, is beautiful... but then the little things start and then the big things. And then the prices go up without anything being fixed. It seems most RV parks or campgrounds like KOA or Jellystone aren't in the business for the love of camping and sharing it, they are strictly in it for money. It's sad. The smaller campgrounds that don't have the amenities that the larger parks do care much more about the people that stay there and the grounds, at least in my camping experiences and working experiences in the field (more than just KOA).
Thanks for the Review - I live in the Trenton area and am always looking for places near by - I've seen this campground on Campendium and Google and never stayed based on the reviews. Well, and the rates were pretty high. I tend to go to Turkey Swamp or Alaire State Park if I want something fairly local.
Ha! Welcome to New Jersey!!! Moved here from GA in 2002, and certainly noticed a difference from the state where everyone calls you “honey” or “sweetie” to here. I’m in South Jersey, and must say it’s a bit better in this part of the state; friendliness goes downhill quickly the closer you get to NYC.
I went to NJ for a couple days back in 2008. I feel like every business we went to, had the same attitude. They acted like they were doing you a favor.
Hi, I stayed at this campground for few months several years ago maybe like eight or 10 years ago and everything seems exactly the same. It doesn’t seem like they will ever change anything because it looks and sounds just like when I was there. I will never stay at that campground again.
The strangest rule we ever encountered: A mobile RV service call took us to a campground unfamiliar to us. Going into the office, we exchanged glances when we noticed a sign behind the counter that said, "No overt sexual behavior in the pool." That service call landed us in a " clothing optional" campground! Fastest service call ever, we worked like a NASCAR pit crew!
Yes. As a Xerox tech I did a call at a nature conservatory. So, you think you're going to some place where they hug trees and talk to squirrels. NO. The gate opens and OMG!!people are standing there stark raving naked! Also, they expected me to take my close off too. Like you fastest service call.
So sad that somebody runs their business like this. I’ve been following you guys for a while and you always give the benefit of the doubt. Plus, her snarky attitude gives Jersey a bad rap and I’m a proud Jersey girl.
Customer service has gone to crap these days. I noticed it started around 2010 where people just started feeling like it was ok to just be ugly to others. For the price I completely agree with y’all..
Agree. I would have been so turned off by the check in interaction it would have to be top notch maintenance and cleaning to break even for me. Not worth the price.
I agree with you, to high price and broken picnic tables at site's not acceptable it could be a well groomed place with alittle effort, and general maintenance, maybe some landscaping of flowers, one good thing is Level site's, that's what we look for, with our 36ft class A. Easy Leveling 😊, thank you for your honest review. GOD BLESS YOU IN ALL YOUR TRAVELS 😊❤
I agree with you. I just went to one that we had to make a late day reservation for in Show Low, AZ. It appeared the campsites were mostly long term residents and they make most of their money from one night stays. It was a pretty campground in the forest. Camping spaces sandwiched like fish packed in a tin can. Electric only and no restroom anywhere. No picnic table and nothing else but a fairly level gravel area to park. The lack of a picnic table and lack of a restroom was a deal breaker for ever returning to this particular campground. I can be happy without a lot of things and return to a place as long as it has a picnic table, the lack of a restroom was a big problem for my guest. And that, no picnic table and no one there to get any help from, cost $75 for one night.. The campground in Waddell,AZ we stayed at two nights before was a county campground and had a nice picnic table, fire ring and a bathroom close enough to be convenient. Our stay was late July so it was hot in the county campground. One I'll go to in cooler weather for sure.
I am staying at Sun Retreats in Barnegat, Ocean County, NJ. Yes, the closer you get to the Jersey shore, the more expensive the camping price. We are close to Long Beach Island. We have a honey dipper truck that comes around, or you can dump on your way out. No laundry, small pool, lots of activities. Where were you? Our campground is clean. Wish you had stayed here.
I am originally from Jersey and I couldn’t wait to move south. People from Jersey are nice people deep down inside but I think the fast pace of life, the commute by car to work is bumper to bumper but you are all doing 70 mph. Yes some hate their jobs and don’t give a crap about anyone but themselves. But, in days gone by it wasn’t like that.
Sounds like they get a lot of New Yorkers there. It’s the New York attitude. Also the price is reflective of New York pricing. We live in Cape May county. We stayed at a local state park campground. The fee was 30.00 for an electric and water site. The amenities were few. Bath houses, play grounds, dump station and a lake for swimming, boating and fishing. Plenty of bike/ hiking paths.
Campgrounds with permanent or seasnoal sites creep me out and I won't stay at them if I don't have too, especially when they look run down like that one! 😵 And those picnic tables!! 😯
When an owner or manager talks to me like he is doing me a favor just by his presence, i.e., bad attitude. I have a response I use quite often. I ask if their dog just died. They usually get the hint. This did bite me one time (no pun intended). I asked the lady if her dog just died and she told me yes. Felt pretty badly about that. But I did apologize. I have been a dog owner all my life and I can relate. Anyway, I agree, there is usually no reason for people to have that holier than thou attitude.
Haahaaa, you guys are light hearted and no, not "Karen's" I always enjoy your content. This was actually pretty funny at times and, you two keep stuff real 🎉👌 Stay safe !
Checkout the 1 star reviews for Santa Rosa Campground and RV park. I mistakenly saw 4 stars and thought it would be alright for a few hours of sleep but after we arrived and experienced the owner I was sorry I didn’t dig deeper into the written reviews. It truly is like something out of a horror movie and judging from the dates of the reviews it’s been going on for many, many years. Not sure how they stay in business.
Hey Y'all, we haven't ever stayed at this RV park but have stayed at the state parks all thru out south Jersey. The soil is very sandy, and grass doesn't grow well. The workers sound like Jersey. Prefer PA campsites. Oh, we lived in Ocean Co for some time but have since moved back to TX. Enjoy your videos!🤠
Guys: I actually was laughing at MJ’s caricature of the owner. Frankly, keep your reviews, please. Good bad or whatever, keep going! Hope to say hello to you both again at Hershey.
Oh my gosh!!! I just watched your video "Trigger Warning: This Video Is Brutally Honest and Unfiltered!" where someone criticized you for walking like you're connected at the hip!! I'm laughing my head off because it DOES look like you're connected at the hip in this video!! You guys, are great (even if you're from New Jersey!). Are you from New Jersey??
Love the channel.. love the LU gear as well! My wife and I are getting Doctorates there (well she just finished, and I'm a couple months from finishing). We also have a daughter that is a senior and in marching band. If you're ever at a game would love to say hi.. we're planning on hitting a couple at least this season. ;)
I agree with everything you have stated. For that much $, you don’t expect what you have observed. And their customer service skills….well, they definitely need to take some classes along with etiquette classes when dealing with the public. It sounds as if the woman behind the desk is tired of owning or working here and being run down, do you think the owners may be selling soon?
I have traveled East many times (New Jersey, New York, etc) and found that many people seemed rude in general. After several observations, I decided to ask a person from New York why the amount of rude behavior seems to be fairly normal in these particular areas (asking in a polite way) and the answer is simple from their perspective - lots of people from all backgrounds of life just trying to make it through from daily struggles of life. This made sense and the diversity creates a lot of people to be short with others due to fast paced conditions. But here’s what else was mentioned. This person said it isn’t personal nor should it be taken as offensive. It’s simply a way of life with how it is and has been almost since the beginning of the established communities and big city environment that exists in the North East. Basically, just take it as normal behavior and don’t be offended by the demeanor of how and when people say something. After a while, I began to understand what this New Yorker said and now I see it in how it was expressed. In this review, don’t take anything said at the campground or written on the rules page as offensive. It is nothing personal and just go on with your day. The North East is not middle America with normal politeness as we typically see.
I bought the Release and love it!! Thank you! Yes, it’s Karen and Ken. You gave the campground a very accurate review! Maybe a little too nice. I would never stay there. 👍🏻
So those non-dairy creamer concoctions that I have never used would have been better than heavy cream to to absorb the benefits of that acid?! I'll be getting some almind milk today! Thanks Dr. Joe!
If this one was not your cup of tea....I would suggest that you avoid Sarasota Sun Outdoors in Sarasota, FL. We experienced the same thing. Sarasota Sun outdoors is off our list.
When I visit Six Flags Great Adventure - the campground I have stayed at in the past, and had a really great stay is Timberland Lake Campground - which is the closest campground to Six Flags Great Adventure - literally just 3 miles from Six Flags Great Adventure. The staff is great - the campground is great. If you have kids - the campground is very kid friendly - with lots of activities for the kids! The only thing - is this campground is very popular - and gets book up - fast! So - if you are thinking of going - make sure you make reservations! -- also - on the plus side - I use Travlfi for my internet - which hooks up to any of the 3 major services with the closest signal - and I never had an issue with getting cell service with Travlfi while at Timberland Lake. I did stay once at the campground you guys are reviewing - Indian Rock RV Park and Campground. Indian Rock was an 'ok' campground - but, to me, it wasn't as nice or as friendly and kept up as Timberland Lake! And - with Travelfi - I did have some issues staying connected - so, I do agree - the cell service there isn't all that great. So - next time in the area - or for anyone looking in the Jackson NJ area to camp - give Timberland Lake Campground a try!!
We mostly stay in Florida State Campgrounds and recently a city campground in Jacksonville and have near been treated rudely. So sad you were treated that way. Even in city campground in VIrginia employees were nice.

Glad you like them!
As a campground owner, nice that you read the rules. Most people don't read the rules. 😅😂
We left Jersey 20 yrs ago. Best thing we did.
We’ll be following soon.
I agree with you - unacceptable. Safe travels!!
Absolutely unacceptable. I am surprised you even stayed at all. Hope everyone leaves reviews like others have so we know about these places and avoid them.
Awesome review! Thanks for the information. BTW love Release cleaners thanks sharing this product with everyone!
Glad you like it.
Poor customer service is becoming standard for everything.
You had me laughing several times with such a difficult situation!🤣 Good job!
lol thanks
Perception makes all the difference. In Real Estate sales, a small kitchen is described as, "So conveniently appointed, you can cook an entire meal without moving your feet." A run down house is excused when you say, "This home is owned by a young couple with children, and sometimes they have to prioritize their time for the kids." Always find the positive in everything.
"I thought I was dead, but I was just in New Jersey."
Ha Ha! The Rules! Sounds like a “Dear Idiot” Letter!..She probably inherited the Campground. Stuck with it now.
This was a funny video, so laugh! I liked 👍🏽 so, respect my decision! That was my impression of the park supervisor.
Glad you enjoyed!
Starlink is AMAZING and even with trees Ive never had a problem.
Totally reasonable perspective you guys have here. It’s disappointing to see campgrounds with “great bones” just flounder. I bet you would have even been ok paying a little more if the issues you experienced weren’t present.
The new Starlink works awesome Highly recommended.
Welcome to NJ R
I'd like to say the attitude you got was unusual but it is NJ. Now before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, we are born & lived in NJ all our lives. We
recently escaped
Everything you mentioned is New Jersey. Sad, and why we left. If you ever travel through again, consider the cape May NJ campgrounds.
We just stayed in a Cape May campground this past weekend. 😊
Wow thanks for sharing!
Possibly the owner set the energy for your stay in her attitude. Way too much money given the lack of a welcoming attitude and lack of upkeep. Thank you for your very fair evaluation.
I'm with the both of you 100%
Thank you for watching!
Sad part there are quite a few campgrounds like this always wonder how the stay in business thanks another great video save travels.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the Review - I live in the Trenton area and am always looking for places near by - I've seen this campground on Campendium and Google and never stayed based on the reviews. Well, and the rates were pretty high. I tend to go to Turkey Swamp or Alaire State Park if I want something fairly local.
We liked Turkey Swamp.
That's outrageous!
I used to work customer service - nationwide- in the 90s.. NJ is top 3 in rudeness.
Such a shame
Usually when I go to a campground that has a list of rules a mile long I make a big uturn in my motorhome and leave.
The Eggplant Parm was fantastic! Best I've ever made! Thanks for the recipe!
Glad to hear it will get better the more you make it!!
Hi, I stayed at this campground for few months several years ago maybe like eight or 10 years ago and everything seems exactly the same. It doesn’t seem like they will ever change anything because it looks and sounds just like when I was there. I will never stay at that campground again.
The strangest rule we ever encountered:
A mobile RV service call took us to a campground unfamiliar to us. Going into the office, we exchanged glances when we noticed a sign behind the counter that said, "No overt sexual behavior in the pool."
That service call landed us in a " clothing optional" campground!
Very true.
I agree with you 100% so sad it does look like a nice place if they would up keep
Totally agree with you on all!
This was actually pretty funny at times and, you two keep stuff real 🎉👌
Stay safe !
Thanks!
Spot on!
I love inexpensive campgrounds, good Sam and KOA, although we are just staying for one night and moving on unless something goes awry.
The check-in story is hilarious! Charging extra for "more people" is ridiculous.
Right?
Hey Y'all, we haven't ever stayed at this RV park but have stayed at the state parks all thru out south Jersey. The soil is very sandy, and grass doesn't grow well. The workers sound like Jersey. Prefer PA campsites. Oh, we lived in Ocean Co for some time but have since moved back to TX. Enjoy your videos!🤠
Thanks!
Yes from Jersey
Love the channel.. love the LU gear as well! My wife and I are getting Doctorates there (well she just finished, and I'm a couple months from finishing). We also have a daughter that is a senior and in marching band. If you're ever at a game would love to say hi.. we're planning on hitting a couple at least this season. ;)
Awesome!
Probably why the campground was half empty.
The same here. Just really windy here in Nevada.
I can’t imagine how they can justify charging those rates and especially nine dollars for an extra person. Great review.
Thanks!
I bought the Release and love it!! Thank you! Yes, it’s Karen and Ken. You gave the campground a very accurate review! Maybe a little too nice. I would never stay there. 👍🏻
Happy you like the release and glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
Hey, creful with the “she was Jersey through and through” 😮. I do agree Central Jersey needs better camping.
I had a similar experience at Moose River RV in St. Johnsbury Vermont… not to mention other very disturbing things…
Would explain more but you can check out my reviews on their various reviews of the campground. One of which the owner responded and I replied back
LOL! Best review Ever! Wishing you had reenacted the Check In though. =D
WOW! Loved the chewing imitation, but I wouldn't have had your patience, especially at that price!
Thanks for the tip
We mostly stay in Florida State Campgrounds and recently a city campground in Jacksonville and have near been treated rudely. So sad you were treated that way. Even in city campground in VIrginia employees were nice.
You can’t make this stuff up. Seen it before in our local campgrounds. BTW: love your LU swag! I grew up in Lynchburg, VA and respect the students and faculty there. Go Flames!
