Thank you! Always appreciate something like this that doesn't involve digging and setting posts. Also interested to see the flowers your interspersed - I hadn't thought about that.
We still had to use a fence pounder to get the t posts inserted into the ground but that's not too difficult in our sandy soil. The flowers did well the first season but we didn't replant any the second season and if anything had reseeded from previous year, it was overgrown fairly quickly by the berry vines. It's till fun to do and something to try though!
Very informative!! Some of the pieces I didn't know existed would have come in handy for me on another project. Just a little self help idea.. I slide a screwdriver in the eye hooks to tighten them.
Ah, clever! Great idea, not sure why we never thought of that. I guess because we don't usually have a screwdriver out when we're using a drill! Lol. Thanks again!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED! I also have to grow berries (and everything) above ground with hardware cloth below because of gophers. This is precisely what I was looking for without knowing what I was looking for 😂I plan to upgrade to the Birdies over the next couple of years as well.
I love this idea! My ground stays so wet that 4x4 posts set into the ground a) would rot in a few years and b) would be difficult for me as an older woman to get set level in our rock and clay. This combines the pleasing look of wood with the less visible metal posts that I CAN drive into the ground! I have had my berries in pots for 3 years now because I just haven't known how I wanted to approach this trellising project that would be both attractive AND doable for a 70 year old woman. Thank you!
That is so great to hear, pounding the t posts into the ground can be a challenge (even with the fence pounder), thankfully, we have sandy soil here but you may find more resistance in your rocky clay soil. Good luck on your project and hopefully you can get those berries out of their pots.
We put cattle panel over the top, lined the sides with pool noodles and the bushes grow up through and hang over a little covering the pool noodles :) Pool noodles are just to ensure running children don’t hit the exposed wire edges of cattle panel with their noggins.
It likely depends on how much space you have to spare but blueberries would probably do best in raised beds. Although, we did have one in a half wine barrel at our previous property that did fairly well. Have fun growing!
I love this so much! Unfortunately, I have metal containers on concrete 😢 . Do you think I could put the posts on the inside of my containers to make this work 😅?
You could just use 4x4's as your main post instead of using t posts, you would just need to concrete them into place or use a concrete pier to secure it. This would obviously make your trellises much more sturdy as well. Hope that helps and good luck!
We planted some annual marigolds and zinnia for this season as the berries were small when we planted them. However, the berries filled in really well during the rest of the year so we likely won't have as much space going forward as the berries mature.
Yes just because they have good characteristics doesn’t mean they are gmo. GMO products are created in a lab. If a mutation occurs in nature, the plants can be bread over time to keep the good traits, such as variegated leaves.

Awesome video, I love the detail! Thank you for taking the time to create and share this, it has saved many of us a lot of time!
That is so great to hear and we are glad you found the video helpful, have fun growing!

My wonderful handyman husband can build this trellis for my berries!
Great, do-able idea for me and my hubby, thanks!

These berry canes can get very heavy and turn into a bramble quickly. Thanks for the tips!
Definitely! We just planted these beds out a few months ago... they started to sprawl QUICK. Happy to help, and thanks for watching
so creative!!!
Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how it all came together :)
I'm going to the hardware store to ask for some hookey-doodles! 😂 Great video!!!
"Oh, those are on aisle 7!" 😂 Thank you for watching Susan!
Looks great!
thank you so much!
You guys did an awesome job! Looks great!!
Thank you so much, and thanks for tuning in!
I miss your instagram reels because I am no longer active on the social media and I truly appreciate these videos in TH-cam.
Thank you so much for following along!
Another great tutorial! I am tired of 🤬-ing around with the dumb "system" I have so this will be part of my to-do's for fall. Thanks!
Hopefully you find the trellis to be helpful and good luck with your project!
very helpful - thanks for sharing
So great to hear!
Haven't planted the blueberries yet, contemplating on planting them in pots or in a raised bed. I really love your setup.

@@HomesteadandChill thank you for the input, I hope our blackberries prosper this time.

We are glad you enjoy the video, how deep are your metal raised beds?
How would you install a net over it to protect against birds?
Love it! How many berry per bed do you plant?
Three per bed, and each bed is just under 9 feet long - so they're spaced about 2.5 feet apart
Great video..In canada we don't get Vertical T-post brackets. Are there any alternates?
You could just use 4x4's as your main post instead of using t posts, you would just need to concrete them into place or use a concrete pier to secure it. This would obviously make your trellises much more sturdy as well. Hope that helps and good luck!
For the 2x4s do you think it's okay to use pretreated wood since it won't be directly touching the canes?
That should be fine to do if that works best for you.
What flowers are planted below the berry beds?
We planted some annual marigolds and zinnia for this season as the berries were small when we planted them. However, the berries filled in really well during the rest of the year so we likely won't have as much space going forward as the berries mature.
Do your berries have thorns? If not are they a GMO?
Our olallieberries have thorns but berry bushes that are thornless are not GMO, most varieties have been bred over time to get rid of this trait.
Yes just because they have good characteristics doesn’t mean they are gmo. GMO products are created in a lab. If a mutation occurs in nature, the plants can be bread over time to keep the good traits, such as variegated leaves.
Thank you so much. This is so helpful. I thought they had to have thorns in order to non-GMO.
