Best camera angle ever in the first chorus with Marko and the angel wings behind him.

These guys do not make bad music, all quality. This was written in Tarja's day, they have a good official video on it, but as usual for me, I prefer Floor. Tarja was even a bit edgy in this song, but not Floor edgy. I could have never got into Nightwish like I do now, with Floor. I mean the genius songwriting/composition and strong, tight musicianship was there, but while I find Anette to be a good singer with energy, live her voice was hit or miss at best, and she was too poppy for me. Tarja has a beautiful operatic voice, she was hard to understand sometimes, opera is nice in moments of a song, but this is a metal band/her metal chic side was not that edgy to me. Both women are talented no doubts, but very seldom did they really blend well with the band. Floor looks and sound like she will sing along side her brothers and if they got to fight their way out, Floor would be right there fighting and bleeding with them.

Floor is Floor, and Tuomas and the band do not want her to be anybody else.
Tuomas said the inspiration for this one came to him while he was on a date (Not Tarja). There were some guys hitting on his date even knowing she was with him. They wished they had his angel.😀👍

I don't think Floor is imitating anyone, I think she is inhabiting the character (drunk, hitting on an old flame who happens to be in a relationship with a mutual friend). This is one of my favorites, in all its available recordings with Floor. A nasty story, wrapped in an a tasty song.
I would be curious to hear your thoughts on a recent cover of this song by a group called The Iron Cross.
Two disclaimers in case you watch it though:
First, everyone in The Iron Cross is either in high school or just recently graduated, so please don't be too harsh if they're not as good as Nightwish. They're still kids.
Second, two girls sing the song for The Iron Cross, and that has turned off some hard-core Nightwish fans who are accustomed to Marko's voice.
So, just keep those 2 things in mind, and see if you enjoy it or not.

Nah, Floor sounds a bit weird throughout this DVD, she was doped to the eyeballs on cold and flu meds. She was "the sickest she's ever been in her life".

@@VonSchnitzelCrumREACTS You will see in other songs from that DVD, halfway through she starts tripping balls XD More OTT than usual "folk" dancing (flailing in circles lol) with some songs and some of the ad lib comments not making a bunch of sense.
This was a big European hit single for 2004.
I had goosies too at the beginning. But it was because of how loud you can hear the audience sing along. I believe this performance is in Buenos Aires.. Not sure. But the South American crowds are always so alive. I love it.

The closest I can come to a "bad" Nightwish song is Nymphomaniac Fantasia off their first album Angels Fall First, a song that Floor's never performed. (Not sure if there are any lives of Tarja performing this one, actually.) I like the song from a musical standpoint, but the lyrics... eh, let's just say that they prove that even a genius poet like Tuomas was a 19-year-old boy at one time.

This was the song that got me hooked back when this first came out back in 2005 (i think!). Tara's voice was good but it was Marko that did it 😁

Sorry, I don't know any bad Nightwish songs. I haven't heard every song of theirs so maybe there's one out there, but I doubt it.

Just as an FYI, Tarja is pronounced as "TAAR-iy-aa". You don't hear any J sound in her name, and you stress the R. Finnish names are hard to say I've found, lol.

My suggestion is another cover of them, which we hardly see on TH-cam.
And if you like a heavy Nightwish sound,
this will be a very nice one.

Wish I had an Angel was released on June 7, 2004. While this was Tarja's last studio album, it doesn't appear to be part of the Nightwish/Tarja breakup. Floor is magnificent as per usual. Doubtful is trying to imitate anyone. By the time of this recording in 2018, Floor had been singing this song for 6 years off and on. See sang it for the remainder of the Imagineaerum Tour starting in 2012. Great, great track. LOVED IT!

The only song I have heard them perform that I didn't care for is their cover of a Ozzy Osbourne song (name of which, I can't recall). But I think it had more to do with the source material.
There are a couple of early songs with a guest male vocalist that does some growling which I personally don't care for in any song with rare exception. But the rest of those songs are great.
The male vocalist guesting on on the pre-Marko albums is Tapio Wilska (Fintroll). I know he did Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean on Oceanborn and I think that was also him on Kinslayer on Wishmaster. He probably did 10th Man Down as well, but I'm not positive... and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few of the songs, too.
You should always do Wacken '13 if you can also Tarja was operatic not pop ,Anette was poppy and Floor is a vocal goddess like Freddy is a vocal god, a great only Anette song is Bye Bye Beautiful and out of all the songs that Floor does in concert that are Tarja ones I only find 3 are comparable IMO Nemo,End of All Hope n wish I had an Angel
I'm new to Nightwish since Nov 2020 and haven't heard everything but I haven't heard a bad song yet it's probably why in the span of 6 months they became one of my 3 favorite #1 bands the fastest to ever do that
I would like to do Wacken more but they copyright strike me after a few days.. Filmed a stack of Wacken performances and only a few have survived. What are your other fav bands ??

If you like the song I highly suggest checking out the Wacken 2013 version in your own time, it's slightly better than this one imo.

Yep, and Tuo-mas -> "Tuo" is pronounced like the English word "duo" but with "t" instead of "d" and "mas" is pronounced like the English word "must" but without "t". : )
My least favorite NW songs are Nymphomaniac Fantasia and Whoever Brings the Night. In both cases it’s the lyrics that leave me cold more than the music, and I can’t in good conscience call either one ‘bad’. They’re just at the bottom of the barrel in my personal rankings. NymFan is a Tarja song off their first album and WBtN is off Dark Passion Play with Anette.

This is one of their earlier songs and was written for Tarja. I've heard Tarja's version (probably literally) thousands of times and it's the one I knew growing up.
As much as I love Floor's voice, this song still sounds wrong to me with her. It's just not the version I know.
