Been listening to metal for decades, and I do listen to the other Japanese metal/rock bands that have female guitarists. Miyako and Midori for me are untouchable, love them both equally, the others don't quite capture me like these two who are simply mesmerising.
Bassist Miho "Natural Born Head-Banger" wrote 1/4th of song's lyrics & music to those with friend-of-band Mao. Guitarist/keyboardist Miyako "The Golden Touch" has written music-only for about half their songs. No lyrics. Midori "Crazy Shredder" has written music to 2, lyrics to 1 of those, "Dancing With The Devil", music to "Glory to the World" with Mao. Haruna "little BIG Engine" has written music & lyrics to 1 song, the fantastic "Bravehearted", Asami assisted translation to English. Asami "The One & Only Voice" has written all lyrics, with the exception of those noted above. Now she is also contributing music to several songs in collaboration with Mao. Mao has written music-only to several songs. No lyrics. One song, "Holy War" has lyrics credited to "LOVEBITES" and music to Mao. All songs are arranged by LOVEBITES which I find significant in that Mao is a keyboardist and the band is primarily a 'guitar band' so it is their guitar arrangements, techniques used and Haruna's drum arrangements that make LOVEBITES "METAL" (imo.)
Midori and Miyako are easily the best PAIR of female guitarists to be in the same band, and honestly should be among the legendary male pairings as well.
Miyako is also a woman who talks very normally when she gets off the stage. She said she was nervous because it was very difficult to Guitar playing , and it must be very hard when you compose 60% of the music, play the piano, and perform on stage. By the way, Haruna, the drummer, is called Harupi by her Japanese fans.
I'd remove the qualifier "female". This was a tribute song to Iron Maiden, modeled after "Aces High". Play the two songs back to back, and the girls are heavier, faster, cleaner, and more melodic than the boys. That's not to put down Maiden--but as in every field, things progress. You want female guitarists? Japan is crawling with them. Try Saki with Mary's Blood, Haruka Noma with Asterism, Hazuki (with Nemophila, opposite Saki), Yuki with D-Drive, Narumi (x-Destrose), Lisa-X, Tomo-Zo with Gacharic Spin, Ayumi and Misaki with Bridear, Sakura with Hagane....Heck---here is a list of around 40 Japanese female-led bands. Knock yourself out! Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are reactor-friendly because they are high quality and are representative of the band's style. You are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but I hope you will find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx, existTtrace, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list: Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” th-cam.com/video/oJ_5Gv3vFjQ/w-d-xo.html Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal. If you find others you think belong on this list, please let me know. And if you find a dead link, also please let me know so I can fix the list. Thank you!
This entire concert is indicative of how much they have improved not only in the studio with the new EP, but also live! The playing, the sound, the beauty, all of it!!! Killer! Watch out world when this stupid pandemic ends!
I think you already know what this song sounds like. Yes, this is a tribute to Aces High of Iron Maiden. Miho, ex-band leader of Lovebites is a big fan of Iron maiden.
What's so great about this type of music? Iron Maiden. Metalica. Dio. AC / DC. Europe. TNT. SAXON. Nightwish. Motley Crew. Alice Cooper. Van Halen. Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild. This are some good artists / band!
As an Australian working musician, I pledge to fly to every gig the y do in Oz if the play here. as I am a "Miyakodite", a total fan of her work. see her playing piano in swan Song and hearing her arranging composing skill totally sold me. Try Edge Of The world and for fun rock nroll see Raise Some Hell. Yes Lovebites , come to Australia and wake up the metal scene.
The Crusade is the only collaboration between Miho (lyrics) and Miyako (music) Here are the last 2 songs from the encore of their "Five of a Kind" show, both have [cc] lyrics, recommended: th-cam.com/video/UZjxMjBop7w/w-d-xo.html These are "Edge of the World" and "We The United" and are best viewed together, as performed.
LOVEBITES - The Crusade lyrics: Walking in shadows, immersed in deception While hiding our agony, faking a smile Pulling the trigger to lose my religion All of the truth ends up murdered by lies Dancing with demons, they seem to be fond of me Let’s start the ritual for the revenge Pulling the trigger to burn non-believers Being the odd one out drives me insane I’m a fool in disguise You’d never realize Found myself in its song Where else would I belong? Break free Fight to live on, forever strong Break free Heart made of steel, show me what’s real Deep down My heartbeat and blood burning with love Deep down It’s time to begin the crusade Wanting an answer, but losing myself While I’m hiding my anger behind empty smiles Pulling the trigger to punish the traitors All of your words were just nothing but lies Crawling in chaos, I’m losing my breath, tell me What do you see through your sinister eyes? Pulling the trigger to kill the oppressors I had no choice but to hide when I cried
Found myself in its song Where else would I belong? Break free Always believe, hope is the key Break free Heart made of steel, knight of ordeal Deep down Destroy the restraints, never again Deep down It’s time to begin the crusade Break free Fight to live on, forever strong Break free Heart made of steel, show me what’s real Deep down My heartbeat and blood burning with love Deep down Be true to yourself and your beliefs It’s time to get up and breath ----- lyrics: miho music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)
That flying v you noted is Miyako's signature Dean :) I love this band. It is official, Spotify has notified me that Lovebites is far and away my favourite band of 2021 lol
Thanks for your reaction. Seems you genuinely love these princesses from Lovebites. 🤘 The bassist and the leader of the pack is MIHO and not Miko as you mentioned. Miyako doesn't smile too much but her guitaring does wonders and makes us smile. She is just an exceptional and gifted musician.🤘🤘🤘🐺🐺🐺
Some all female bands from Japan: TELECiDE [Tied up Memories], MARY'S BLOOD [Marionette], ALDIOUS [Dominator], BRIDEAR [Light in the Dark], HANABIE [I Love Sweets], NEMOPHILA [Dissension]
More female ( or male) guitarrists at that level ? None . But Saiki and Azuki ( nemophilla) are near .the guitarrist you refer is Orianthi , another one very good is Nita Strauss ( ex-iron maidens) , Nita is playing in Alice Cooper band since 2014 ( she replaced Orianthi) . Greetings from Portugal 🤘🤘
An even better song of their for guitar duelling is "Scream For Me" (live). Two solos each during the song, & then they attack each other 10 times near the end. Sensational.
I would say, Miyako composes most of their music but all the members have written music & its always a collaboration, Asami the lead vocalist, writes most of the lyrics. ❤🎙🎸🥁🎹😎👌 I think Miho wrote the lyrics for this one.
My two other favorite female guitarists I´d recommend to you are Kanami Tono of BAND-MAID, who knows incredibly perfect what a song needs at the exact right time and manages to do the exact right things with so much heart and soul. And then, of course, Hal-Ca of ASTERISM, who´s, despite just getting 19 yo in November, already ahead of almost all others and simply just otherwordly good.
Hell Ya! Love this song! Love this band! Glad to see you enjoy Miyako's demeanor. Thank you for reacting to this video. Might try Asterism, Hal-Ca is a teenager but she is a natural born metal guitarist. Song I would do first is Rising Moon.
More great female guitarists? Japan is loaded with them: SAKI and Hazuki (Nemophila) Lisa-X (Lisa-X band) Tomo-zo (Gacharic Spin) Haruka (Asterism) Sakura Yoshida (Hagane) Hanako (Octaviagrace) Misaki and Ayumi (Bridear) Kanami (Band Maid) Yuki (D-Drive). And let's not forget all the great female bassists like F Chopper Koga (Gacharic Spin) FAMI. (solo artist) Mina (Girlfriend/solo ) Miho (of course, Lovebites) MISA (Band maid) Haru (Bridear) I could go on...
MIho (not Miko)--she wrote several of their thrashier songs--she's a true metalhead. Unfortunately, she decided to leave the band, and with the other things going on in their lives (marriages, a baby) they are on hiatus. Hopefully not for too long!
If you want to find awesome female guitarists then look no further than Japan because the country is swarming with them. Just dive into Japanese female rock and metal and you'll be staggered by the talent you'll come across. Having said that, it must be noted that Miyako is a once in a generation genius. She's not only a staggeringly good guitarist but also an extraordinary pianist as well as being the main song writer for the band. Don't be fooled by her "ice queen" persona onstage. Offstage she's actually a complete sweetheart... very humble, a bit shy and a total geek. She was perhaps a little more restrained than usual on this occasion since she was four months pregnant when they played this show. That'll be something for her kid to tell people when he or she grows up.... "I was onstage for my first metal concert five months before I was even born!" She's had her baby now although I have no idea whether it was a boy or a girl. Maybe someone in the Wolf Pack knows.
Here's 2 other songs if you loved this song you'll love them: Signs of Deliverance th-cam.com/video/o6oVfCzruHQ/w-d-xo.html Hammer of Wrath th-cam.com/video/otJZPUCwyOM/w-d-xo.html
@@VonSchnitzelCrumREACTS Have you done Dystopia Symphony? Dystopia Symphony (Fanmade with lyrics) th-cam.com/video/M83rfRFYxxQ/w-d-xo.html Here's a fanmade video with the song.
Not knocking them but most are fixated on M&M but if it were not for Miho and Haruna being rock solid holding it down like they do there is no way M&M would shine as bright. Signs Of Deliverance has one of the greatest dual guitar sections ever and it works because H&M are holding it all together. For me Haruna's drive is the key thing in all LB songs. Glad to see you recognize that.
Nice reaction mate! You should definitely check out the all female deathcore band Nemophila and their song Oiran (live at Naon Yaon)! This band also consists of highly talented musicians 🤘😊🤘
I'd say that Lovebites have surpassed by far what I - more than 30 years ago - had hoped Phantom Blue could become, if they wrote heavier, longer and more complex songs with longer guitar solos. Still the guitar solos on their debut showed that Michelle Meldrum (RIP) and Nicole Couch knew how to shred very well (which way back then was - as regards female metal guitarists - something unheard-of), just check out the guitar solo part around the 2-minutes-mark in their song "Frantic Zone": th-cam.com/video/iVpolsfQX_M/w-d-xo.html
Miyako's only rivals are Kanami from Band Maid and Saki from Nemophila and Mary's Blood. Oh and of course Midori is awesome too. She can play faster than Miyako, but Miyako has a little bit more "soul" and "emotion" in her playing.
Rivals? You do realise they simply choose to play fast and intricate.professional guitarist for the most part, can all play like this, its just that people choose different genres. Most don't play progressive, because the market is small Love bites is great music, but They are not very popular, because our tastes are not shared by many
Yes, I've been tryin to get into some of the other female dominant Japanese bands...jus feels like a step dwn after Lovebites....do like Destrose though...Narumi also 😍
@@lateagain9289 I like Destrose, many artists including Miho and Haruna have come from there....and yeah Narumi is gorgeous. I believe she was in Disqualia.
Miyako's taps and sweeps on this song were what turned me on to Lovebites in the first place. Bloodstock 2018. Yeah the show some misguided 'fans' would like erasing from history 🤬
Nothing is wrong with the bands performance at Bloodstock the sound on the recording is utter garbage. 100% not the bands fault. Compare the sound of Haruna's drums on BS vs any other recording. I think her sound suffered the most. Was a piviotal moment for them but the recording is horrid.
If you want to check out some more all female rock bands try The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico, Voice of Baceprot from Indonesia and relatively new U.S. band Plush.
I believe you are confusing band maid with lovebites, MIHO the bassist is no longer with Lovebites and she only contributed a few times. The one who does most of the songs and composes them is Miyako with Asami doing all the lyrics
The bassist, Miho, decided to leave the band this year. The band is on a hiatus because of this (and a few other reasons) until further notice. It sucks but they said they will be back and better than ever!
I agree with you that Miyako's one of the best guitarists around. There are only a couple who I think are "better" (I realize this is subjective), and one of them is Midori. Traditionally, I'm more a fan of guitarists who have a bluesier, more emotional type of playing style, who are more about "feeling", and that's Miyako, but Midori is just so precise, creative, and technical, she's way more than just a "speed demon" or "shred goddess" as people often call her (even though she's those too). She constantly blows me away. Well, they both do, but Midori I think is underrated by some Lovebites fans who seem to think Miyako's a genius and Midori's just there for when they need fast fingers. And then of course there's Saki, my guitar hero. She does things I can't even wrap my head around sometimes, and half the time she seems to be just making it up as she goes, like it's nothing at all.
Bro, you should also check another all females Heavy Metal Band NEMOPHILA - songs Revive, Hypnosis, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder) HANABIE - song We Love Sweets (Japanese JINJER) BANDMAID - live songs Freedom, Domination, Play, On Set, Real Existence, Secret My Lips, Thrill, Manners, Dice
Yes, those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary.
There are two guitars playing the same thing. Those aren't solos. They're harmonies.
Been listening to metal for decades, and I do listen to the other Japanese metal/rock bands that have female guitarists. Miyako and Midori for me are untouchable, love them both equally, the others don't quite capture me like these two who are simply mesmerising.
Ehum...Haruka Noma...

You're absolutely right, she's frickin' amazing...HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!! HARUNA !!! 🤘🐺🤘
Abso freakin Lutely !!!
Midori and Miyako are easily the best PAIR of female guitarists to be in the same band, and honestly should be among the legendary male pairings as well.
M&M are one of the best (if not the best) guitar duo in history of metal music, doesn't matter if it's men or women.
I've honestly forgotten about a lot of the other bands since discovering Lovebites....they've really sucked me in.
me too
same
Me too
Quite simply the most talented band on the planet 👏
Lovebites is the next Iron Maiden. Somebody has to carry the torch. The Maiden dudes are ready to retire. GO LOVEBITES!
100% LOVEBITES is clearly carrying the heavy metal torch into the future. 🤘🐺🤘
The saviors of Heavy Metal. Midori and Miyako Magic all the time...
There are many more (others that come to mind are BRATS, Drop’s, Stereopony, Scandal, Princess Princess, which all tend more in the pop direction, and the Bang-Dream projects, which are live groups based on Manga series. And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal. If you find others you think belong on this list, please let me know. And if you find a dead link, also please let me know so I can fix the list. Thank you!
I got "Be quick Or Be Dead" vibes from the vocals--kind of the same rhythm, but I get "Aces High" from the guitar parts.
This song is based A LOT on Aces High from Iron Maiden... because it may be a tribute with a little touch and another lyrics...
Same here. Want to see them live so badly.
The Crusade is the only collaboration between Miho (lyrics) and Miyako (music)
Here are the last 2 songs from the encore of their "Five of a Kind" show, both have [cc] lyrics, recommended:

These are "Edge of the World" and "We The United" and are best viewed together, as performed.
Watch Miyako in Spellbound!
Miyako very much enjoys it. She has said in interviews that playing Live is what she loves the most.

LOVEBITES - The Crusade lyrics:
Walking in shadows, immersed in deception
While hiding our agony, faking a smile
Pulling the trigger to lose my religion
All of the truth ends up murdered by lies
Dancing with demons, they seem to be fond of me
Let’s start the ritual for the revenge
Pulling the trigger to burn non-believers
Being the odd one out drives me insane
I’m a fool in disguise
You’d never realize
Found myself in its song
Where else would I belong?
Break free
Fight to live on, forever strong
Break free
Heart made of steel, show me what’s real
Deep down
My heartbeat and blood burning with love
Deep down
It’s time to begin the crusade
Wanting an answer, but losing myself
While I’m hiding my anger behind empty smiles
Pulling the trigger to punish the traitors
All of your words were just nothing but lies
Crawling in chaos, I’m losing my breath, tell me
What do you see through your sinister eyes?
Pulling the trigger to kill the oppressors
I had no choice but to hide when I cried
Found myself in its song
Where else would I belong?
Break free
Always believe, hope is the key
Break free
Heart made of steel, knight of ordeal
Deep down
Destroy the restraints, never again
Deep down
It’s time to begin the crusade
Break free
Fight to live on, forever strong
Break free
Heart made of steel, show me what’s real
Deep down
My heartbeat and blood burning with love
Deep down
Be true to yourself and your beliefs
It’s time to get up and breath

Great lyrics !!
badass track ! kick ass ! this song always get adrenaline rush...hail to lovebites \m/
That flying v you noted is Miyako's signature Dean :) I love this band. It is official, Spotify has notified me that Lovebites is far and away my favourite band of 2021 lol
Thanks for your reaction. Seems you genuinely love these princesses from Lovebites. 🤘
The bassist and the leader of the pack is MIHO and not Miko as you mentioned.
I've never seen such an exciting dual guitar solo since 'Freewheel Burning' by Judas Priest❗
As others have mentioned listen to this song and aces high from iron maiden back to back you will understand lol
Forget female. MIYAKO and MIDORI are great guitarists!!!!! They blow away most men. Lovebites is a great band.
HARUNA on drums certainly is a powerhouse. Inspirational to me actually. 🥁🏆
I would say, Miyako composes most of their music but all the members have written music & its always a collaboration, Asami the lead vocalist, writes most of the lyrics. ❤🎙🎸🥁🎹😎👌 I think Miho wrote the lyrics for this one.
I already had a crush on them from day one which was 14 months ago now.
This is the Lovebites' s Aces High
My two other favorite female guitarists I´d recommend to you are Kanami Tono of BAND-MAID, who knows incredibly perfect what a song needs at the exact right time and manages to do the exact right things with so much heart and soul.
And then, of course, Hal-Ca of ASTERISM, who´s, despite just getting 19 yo in November, already ahead of almost all others and simply just otherwordly good.
This one is my number one of my favorite song from them ❤🔥 The Crusade 💕
Midori-san as always amazing 🔥🤟 Love it ❤
Hell Ya! Love this song! Love this band! Glad to see you enjoy Miyako's demeanor. Thank you for reacting to this video. Might try Asterism, Hal-Ca is a teenager but she is a natural born metal guitarist. Song I would do first is Rising Moon.
Thanks for the suggeations !! I will check it out
This song was a nod to Iron Maiden Aces High
Nita Strauss is pretty good too.
I've seen Nita perform many times with The Iron Maidens and Alice Cooper and she is an awesome shredder.
Miho Miho Miho!
(solo artist) Mina (Girlfriend/solo ) Miho (of course, Lovebites) MISA (Band maid) Haru (Bridear)
I could go on...
Miyako is an ice queen. And you're right, I'm in love with Miyako too
MIho (not Miko)--she wrote several of their thrashier songs--she's a true metalhead.
They are the best, Haruna is the engine, her fills so crunchy, lets go to Bravehearted, live Tokyo, nice reaction, thank you 👍👍
The song is a tribute to Iron Maiden
Oh thats cool !
Here's 2 other songs if you loved this song you'll love them:
Signs of Deliverance th-cam.com/video/o6oVfCzruHQ/w-d-xo.html
Hammer of Wrath th-cam.com/video/otJZPUCwyOM/w-d-xo.html
Done them both 😉
@@VonSchnitzelCrumREACTS Have you done Dystopia Symphony?
I agree, but Midori's solos in Epilogue and A Frozen Serenade are quite touching. She doesn't show it much but she's got a big soul.
Rivals? You do realise they simply choose to play fast and intricate.professional guitarist for the most part, can all play like this, its just that people choose different genres. Most don't play progressive, because the market is small
Love bites is great music, but They are not very popular, because our tastes are not shared by many
Midori and Miyako are at the highest peak of musical talent....its all downhill from here bud!
👍
Miyako I won't say that she is the best in the world but according to her style, the best at the moment in terms of beauty of solos.
If you want to check out some more all female rock bands try The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico, Voice of Baceprot from Indonesia and relatively new U.S. band Plush.
Best female guitarist in the world... EVER ---> Tina S.
This is Iron Maiden to the max.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I believe you are confusing band maid with lovebites, MIHO the bassist is no longer with Lovebites and she only contributed a few times. The one who does most of the songs and composes them is Miyako with Asami doing all the lyrics
Miko...
Bro, you should also check another all females Heavy Metal Band
NEMOPHILA - songs Revive, Hypnosis, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder)
