    Thank you so much for this video! I have an older IBM ThinkPad X220 that wouldn't start properly. The WiFi light, then BlueTooth light would flash in that order, then the fingerprint reader light would turn on but the laptop would never start. I was about to give up when I found your video and thought I would just give it a try since I had nothing left to lose. Lowe and behold, removing the CMOS battery and reinstalling it fixed the issue. I would have never expected it to work but I'm very happy it did. Thanks again for taking the time to record and post this tip!

    Your help was much appreciated my friend. Unplugging the battery cable and then plug it in again did help me. Back in the past when the cellphone got stuck we used to do the same thing by simply taking the battery out. Unfortunately, everything is irremovable nowadays.

    I have a lenovo edge 2 and after a year it’s having a notification in the bottom right corner that it’s not charging so I guess it’s just the charger so I bought a new one and still having same issue. I took it to a pc repair shop and they look at it and try first if it’s the charger input but turns out it’s not and they said it probably the motherboard. I can’t afford to get it fixed so I kinda forgot about it and after 2 yrs I pulled it out in storage and try plugging in ofcourse won’t turn on and power light just blinking so I watched your video thinking maybe I can revive it by removing battery and cmos battery even the pin reset and still won’t power on light still blinking. Do you think it’s just motherboard really needs to replace?

    Hey there. Great videos.
    I have Lenovo Z710, almost 5 years old but not used very much.
    I had my laptop in a cold room for two days and then when I brought it back to the warm room it won't start. The power led was not glowing, no response from power button and from one key rescue. I fixed it with the removing of the CMOS battery and replacing with a new one.
    But 2 weeks after that, again in a cold room for 2 days and it would not start again. Dead. Tried the same things, pulled of the ram, but still nothing. Left it plugged in, and 15 minutes later started by itself.
    Ask several repair shops, and got different diagnosis. From cold solder chip to problem with some "input output controller". At this moment the laptop is working fine...
    Could you help me if you have had an experience like this?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards.
    Lazar

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If anything the cold environment should help the computer work better. The two issues seem to be unrelated. The first time fixed by the replacement of the CMOS Battery and the second, leaving the computer to charge ( affecting the main battery ) before it worked. My guess on the second time would be that perhaps your main battery is starting to go. Keep an eye on that :)

    Thank you very much for this. It works for me. The problem is that whenever I turn my Lenovo T450S off, I have to do this procedure to get it to turn back on. Any thoughts on why that might be? Should I try replacing one or more of the CMOS battery, the internal battery, the removeable battery? One thing I note is that, when following your procedure, after plugging the power lead into the laptop, but before pressing the ON button, the ON button light shows steady green. If you have to release the static every time you turn on the computer then you need to find a way to stop that build-up from happening. That often is not healthy. I would make sure the surge protector that the computer is plugged into is healthy. If not, replace it. If that does not work, try replacing the battery and / or charger as one of them may be starting to die and could be leaking into the computer :)

Now I notice that I am not asked for a bios password. I can live with that, but there are two nagging issues. The earlier HDD was encrypted, and now I cannot use it using a HDD enclosure. It does not get recognized. The second issue is, I can't get into the bios setting by pressing F2 at all. I can get into the OS selection using F12 sometimes, but just cannot get into bios setting. Could this affect the monitor display? Same computer, screen glows but no display. Can see the functioning display if using an external monitor, but nothing on the main screen. Hello Good sir, I was working on my laptop Lenovo Y50-70 touch. I noticed my computer had gotten slow. Since I had experience with installing windows and curious about the inner workings I tried to do a fresh install of windows. I followed several guides on BIOS setup to change boot order to my Bootable USB drive. Everything looked like it went well. But I had already formatted the hard drive on a different computer. And thought I'd do a fresh install on an empty hard drive and using my USB drive. But after I plugged my hard drive back in the laptop and pressed the power button there's no post at all. Wanted to know if a BIOS reset might help me with the same. I'm away from my home right now as my father in law expired but will be back home in a month. Could you please help me out? I promise I understand computers and willing to learn new things. My main doubt is I might have changed the BIOS settings. So the technique in the video seems like the the right way to go trying to reset it. I've showed the laptop to several service centers but they don't listen to the problems of the customer. I've told them this before yet they don't try it. They said the motherboard is dead. But everything can be fixed given the time and effort and parts replaced. Please help, Thanks in advance.
