The way I personally interpret Poseidon going "I can't" is that it's not just because of his reputation as a ruthless god, but also because of Polyphemus having prayed for him to specifically get rid of Odysseus. Poseidon is usually portrayed as a good father (at least compared to others), willing to do anything for his kids. And deep down, he knows that it's the only thing he has in common with Odysseus. In that moment, they're not just a mortal and a god, they're both fathers trying to do what they must for the sake of their sons.
One of my favourite descriptions for one of the lyrics for 600 Strike "Calling their captain in vain!" sounds like a parent grieving for their children or something like that, I'll try to find it but this is one of the reasons why 600 Strike is one of my favourites, not just because of how anime it is and the "next to my wife" line but because this was Odysseus ultimate atotment to his crew
Due to Zues decreeing Odysseus can go home Poseidon can’t kill him directly which is why he says “Get in the water” basically telling him to KYS and why he threatened Odysseus family because if he did then he technically didn’t go against Zues’ decree as Odysseus did it himself Which is why he doesn’t stab Odysseus but is pushing him under the water
Pretty sure it’s much simpler than that. He just wants Odysseus to be forced to drown himself, despite being able to simply drown him and Ithaca at any point.
A dark theory I like is when Odyssey is stabbing posiden, and he is sounding more melodic is because it's music to odyssey to hear him scream. Because he was consumed by his inner monster to be able to beat Posiden.
What's fun is that Poseidon technically won if you think about it. Odysseus never made it home, the monster did. Odysseus didn't survive the bag being opened, the monster did. Poseidon taught him to be ruthless, so Poseidon even got the victory in the regard of tecahing him a lesson. He didn't get a physical victory, sure, but metaphorically, he got exactly what he wanted. (Duvebox made an animatic for Six Hundred Strike which even further emphasizes this point, in case you ever wanna check that out)
I totally agree. It's the prophecy coming true. In my mind, the last moments of Get in the Water with Odysseus's eyes fading out is symbolic of the Oddessy we know dying (I see you on the brink of death, I see you draw your final breath) The Odysseus that fought and tortured a god, the Odysseus that makes it home, is not Odysseus. That's the Monster (I see a man who gets to make it home alive. But it's no longer you)
@@astellis11I believe “on the brink of death” is referring to between Thunder Bringer and Love in Paradise because Calypso opens the song with “I swore that you were dead when you washed up on my isle”
@@DerrickParrI would think its this especially because the line that follows is "draw your final breath" which Odysseus does in the official animatic as seen by the bubbles at the end of Get in the Water.
0:01 to 9:00 for most reactor : god dam Usually 9:08 for everyone that has kept up with Epic : JAY WHAT THE F* WE WERE DONE WE WERE SO DONE WHY *15 minute of crying inserted here*
Technically Zeus did start it, he gave Odysseus to ultimatum to kill a baby or the baby will grow and kill him and his family Poor Telemachus he survives his first fight and what a few days/a month passes and theres a god out there threatening to gouge his eyes This was basically anime style fights x God of war, but if it wasnt so video game like Poseidon could have just slammed them both with a wave and drowned Odysseus
I didn’t like this saga at first but it has grown on me the more I watch it, the only parts I don’t like are the last part of get in the souls I feel like it is becoming a little over played and the 600 strikes i don’t like that a human could do that to a god and if he could why was he not just torturing calypso? I like how @duvetbox covered it but no spoilers if you are gonna do animatic reactions

Ody used an advanced interragtion technique. Called abusing immortalitly
"You can't kill me!"
"Don't need to."
The gods did it to Prometheus.

wait, is this canon information? i.e, confirmed by Jorge?

Having a god calling Odysseus "Monster" is something
