When he’s singing about 600 men - that silence when I was expecting the crew to say “make it back alive to our homeland” and it was dead silent - 😢 it hurt.
Realistically Poseidon wouldn't be in that situation on the rock being hurt. Headcanon is that poseidon without the water it takes a very long time to heal, and Odysseus used Poseidon special trident forge to hurt basically gods, titans. So that's why Poseidon felt so much pain if it was any other weapon wouldn't have worked.
yeah, but if he really wanted to, he could’ve just made an earthquake so it was pretty clear. He himself didn’t want to fight that much when he said I can’t to answer is he just didn’t want to fight so he didn’t fight back against this year, but he could’ve just killed him with ease
@therealbarniminecraft4995 I do agree that he could have made a earthquake. I disagree that he didn't want to fight he wanted to make odyessus suffer as much as possible.
Mortals have overcome Gods, several times over. Ares and Aphrodite were wounded and sent running by Diomedes. And Achilles beat the sh*t out of a river god and sent Apollo running.
I have a theory. Ody locking in under the water was because of Ares. In one of Jay's exposition videos he said that Ares can also use his own version of quick thought. It enduces rage, gives strength, and invulnerability to a degree. Since Athena died at the hands of Zues and Ares was rhe only one calling out to her (depending on the animatic) i belive he helped Ody in respect to Athena's wishes. And we've seen other gods go out of there way to help Ody (i.e, Aoelis, Athena, Hermes) so it's not out of the ordinary.
Oooooh that's a good theory 😲 I hope we get to know if it's true in the Ithica Saga but the only thing wrong with your theory is we didn't hear the typical ticking sound of Quick thought and Dark quick thought but that might be a choice Jorge made to keep it secret until next Saga if your theory is right 🤔

Dude, I had _goosebumps._ My friend and I were losing our minds. Everything about it was insane. Animation 10/10. Songs?? There’s no scale to judge them on. Like the Wisdom saga, I can’t pick a favorite here. I love that they didn’t immediately turn Calypso into, “Oh no. Everything I did was wrong!” Seven years and a delusional goddess. The way he rowed away like, “Nah. I’m not dealing with your crocodile tears.” _I love it_
5:03 Not to mention that for all the years of his pain, THIS Calypso gave him respite. He had a time where he could think to himself and not be killed.
Haven’t seen anyone mention calypso’s curse. Yes she’s cursed to the island, but she’s also cursed to fall in love with anyone that goes to her island. Mind you the people sent to her island are people she could fall for, but she’s incapable of keeping things platonic. I’m not a calypso supporter but the line “why did I fall in love with you” hits harder when you know this fact, because she had no choice in the matter (Jorge when I catch you Jorge)
Calypso in the Odyssey is a nymph who fell in love with Odysseus, one of the Trojan War’s heroes after he drifted into Calypso’s island of Ogygia. She was banished to this island as a punishment for siding with the Titans during the War of the Titans.
It’s good to note Calypso isn’t a good character. While not expressed in the EPIC that she did anything close to the Odyssey calypso she still tried to force her love. He told her many times he had a wife. She isn’t a sad character for forcing issues on him, though the song is like so very beautiful I personally don’t see any sympathy for. Gigis animation perfectly shown Odysseus’ exhaustion and complete done he was with her, probably only loving for as a fellow being And nothing else. As he shouldn’t. This saga is just too good though.
I mean, wouldn't we all be like Calypso if we were trapped all alone on an island from a young age? She doesn't have the experience to know how to treat others so her being forceful is not all that surprising imo
@ i don’t necessarily believe so. At a point we can tell when someone is not happy. It’s choice to ignore it and do wrong or understand it and try not to do wrong. Ignorance and naivety can’t be excuses for wrong doings. Understood, yes, but not accepted even if I do understand the point you make.
Honestly I lowkey sympathize with her 100 years of isolation messes you the hell up, and I’m sure ody had some appreciation for her she kept him fed and housed for 7 years that’s gotta mean something
It's good to note that Odysseus is not a good character EITHER. everyone is messed up in their own way, and honestly I think it's much easier to understand Calypso than Odysseus. Yes, she kept him on the island for 7 years, but she had been alone and desperate for 100 years! that kind of thing is just so very hard for us to understand, bc most of us don't even get to live that much. imagine spending your entire life without your family, friends, hell even colleagues or strangers walking down the street. nothing. just silence. If someone washed up on my island I would try my hardest not to let them go either. Obviously I feel bad for Odysseus and I want him to get back to Ithaca, but my heart also aches for Calypso, that is one of the worst punishments you can inflict on someone. It's also nice to remember that it is never explicitly said in >Epic< (I'm not considering the Odyssey canon bc so much changes from the book to the musical) that she abuses Odysseus.
@@bahnankhayre9534 while I see that point It’s pretty clear to me he hated it there. And if the cannon animatic for the song says anything he’s glad to be leaving but I can see where you’re coming from.
to sum up Calypso's story is this She fought against the Olympians when they took out the Titan's and they cursed her for siding with the Titan's (she fought beside her father) her curse is that she is cursed to remain on Ogegia pronounced O Ge Ge Ah where she is shut off from the world the gods may send her a hero so often to care for and fall in love with but they ALWAYS HAVE TO Leave
Calypso parents are generally said to be the Titan Atlas and the sea nymph Pleione. She was exiled to the island of Ogygia as punishment for supporting the Titans in the battle against the Olympians. It’s also said in some myths that she’d cursed to love anyone that washes up on her island, but that is only said in some myths, not all of them.
Let's see A song of past romance The sacrifice of man Betrayal And a brothers final stand Him on the brink of death Him Drawing his final breath (Hmmm I wonder what's next)
He'll get home but he won't be the same.. It's no longer Odysseus. It's a shell of a man once filled with pride and mercy now with a monster hiding inside, filled with shame and ruthlessness. I love this musical so much 😭😭😭
2:36 THIS Calypso is nice. She’s just misguided. (I’m like 90% certain she didn’t SA him in Jorge’s version.) the ACTUAL Calypso SA’d Odysseus for the entire 7 years he was here.
Some people hating on Calypso as if being alone for a century [and more] is totally normal, and easy, be it mortals or gods - no one would EVER dare do things outside of the norm, sureeeeeely. Not saying she was right to want to keep Odysseus on her island after knowing he has a wife, that's obviously bad by any standard but I do have sympathy for her at the very least [in this musical]
Fun fact, Epic the Musical functions on Diegetic Singing for Mortal Background vocals and nondiegetic Singing for Gods background vocals. This means that if a Mortal has background singers, those singers are physically there. While if a God has Background singers, they don’t have to be. Odysseus has non diegetic singers in Six Hundred Strike.
also, once again idk if other people talked abt this, but with Hermes, he, amongst a lot of other things, is the god of travellers, so the fact that he's helping Odysseus is not surprising, another thing is that he simply enjoys lending a hand to mortals in need and see what they'll do with it, like where their actions will lead, he's really just vibing
Calypso is a titan and she helped the titans fight against Zeus and his siblings. As a punishment she was placed on this desert island and no one could sail there and no one could leave there. Odysseus got away because the gods let him. She can never leave.
I don't know if anyone gave backstory on Calypso, but she's the daughter of Atlas - the Titan who was punished by being made to whole sky on his shoulders; he's actually mentioned in the trials of Heracles. But Calypso and the Pleiades supported the Titans side during the Titanomachy (the war between the Titans and Olympians). Since the Olympians won, Zeus exiled and cursed her - she was exiled to Ogygia for the rest of eternity, and she was cursed to fall in love with anyone who set foot on the island; unironically, every mortal that sets foot on the island is married and wanting to go home. Odysseus washed up there after Zeus killed the rest of his men, and had it not been for Athena fighting for him to get out and home then he would have been stuck there the rest of his life; Calypso actually offered him eternal life to entice him to stay instead of going home, but he wanted to go home. He eventually left after 7 years when Athena (more or less) convinced Zeus to let him go.
Also - Ody is thought to have divine blood. It depends on which mythological story you're following, but he's either the great-grandson of Hermes or the grandson of Zeus. I tend to lean towards the Zeus side given how much he's able to survive lmao; even with only like 12.5 divine blood, it would explain why he can hold his own at least partially against Poseidon.
Came back to comment that the crew and his mom holding him underwater, while seems to be dragging him down, is not them trying to kill him. I think I interpreted it as the heavy burden of their deaths. Their deaths were his responsibility. So if he dies there, it will be all for nothing. Hence, the 600 strike!
so, idk if anyone's mentioned this, but I did see people talk about how Calypso ended up on the island and all... I wanted to add to how messed up her and Odysseus' situation really is. She's made into a much better person in Epic.. ANYWAYS so I believe Calypso was actually cursed to fall in love with Odysseys? Despite this though, she did sa him quite a lot during the years on her island and its something I'm not too happy that Jay only kind of slightly, barely hints at, because there's so many people who won't know this. What she did to Odysseus is awful and theres way too many people who, even though they've read the odyssey, say that he was "lucky". Yes she was cursed to love him, yes the actual Odysseus was quite much more messed up than in Epic, it still doesn't excuse what she did to him and idk, i just wish more people would know this
It's like... she's still a powerful being (I don't remember if she's actually counted as a goddess or not) so Odysseus had absolutely no control and she held him prisoner. She was cursed to love him, but the way she dealt with that is absolutely awful.
I'll be real, Calypso will still catch these hands for holding Odysseus on that island, but I will still feel sorry for her. She just needed a friend, and she finally had one. She did come on too strong, mistaking her attachment to him for love.
Wanna hear something else thats sad about Calypso (i think this is ture) the fates decided to get a little silly and only sent people who couldn't stay cause of there quest and once you leave her island you can never visit it again

I dunno if you should feel bad for Calypso 😭 She was only put on the island for siding with the Titans, and kept Odysseus there for 7 years in the original story (and probably in EPIC too). It wasn't only that, but she sexually assaulted him daily all throughout that. Plus the way she spoke to him in Not Sorry For Loving You seems to have a manipulative tone to it, such as when she says "I'm sorry my love is too much for you" and implies that its Odysseus' fault that he's miserable. She's not exactly made to be a good person 💀
The “How will you sleep at night?” Isn’t really hypocritical when you’re a god and there’s no cost for you. If you’re mortal, killing people will weigh on you because you seem these people as valuable as yourself. But for Gods, all humans are expendable. They could make more if they really wanted to.

Ignorance is not understanding her reason and mindset....alone by herself since being a child for 100 years no guidance no love shown no one to teach her she's not a villain malicious or bad she's misunderstood very misunderstood please you are invited to your opinion even if it's misguided hope you mature in realizing this version of her isn't bad maybe the real life one was
It could be that Calypso in Epic is genuinely written to be a different character. Not a prison warden/rapist but a fellow prisoner
take your time to recover dude :')
Hope you get better soon ❤
Shy would NOT be surviving his encounter with posiden
Yup, instant death 😂
Very true. Problem about talking **** to a god? You’re talking **** to A GOD!!! 😂😂😂
Calypso in the Odyssey is a nymph who fell in love with Odysseus, one of the Trojan War’s heroes after he drifted into Calypso’s island of Ogygia. She was banished to this island as a punishment for siding with the Titans during the War of the Titans.
2:04 Not Sorry For Loving You
5:15 Dangerous
8:40 Charybdis
10:54 Get In The Water
14:34 600 Strikes
16:00 (That one scene)
And if the cannon animatic for the song says anything he’s glad to be leaving but I can see where you’re coming from.
to sum up Calypso's story is this
She fought against the Olympians when they took out the Titan's and they cursed her for siding with the Titan's (she fought beside her father) her curse is that she is cursed to remain on Ogegia pronounced O Ge Ge Ah where she is shut off from the world the gods may send her a hero so often to care for and fall in love with but they ALWAYS HAVE TO Leave
Thankyou for recording this even tho you are sick 😢❤
18:18 You ain't far. Bro's Hermes' great grandson
And time for therapy for everyone. Except for the artist who are busy making animatics due to the trauma.
Hope you feel better soon man.
Let's see
A song of past romance
The sacrifice of man
Betrayal
And a brothers final stand
Him on the brink of death
Him Drawing his final breath
(Hmmm I wonder what's next)
He'll get home but he won't be the same.. It's no longer Odysseus. It's a shell of a man once filled with pride and mercy now with a monster hiding inside, filled with shame and ruthlessness. I love this musical so much 😭😭😭
YESS im late but i was on the livestream and it was AMAZING
Odysseus is technically ⅛ God. Since, apparently, Hermes is his...... grandfather?
Great-grandfather, but yeah
2:36 THIS Calypso is nice. She’s just misguided. (I’m like 90% certain she didn’t SA him in Jorge’s version.) the ACTUAL Calypso SA’d Odysseus for the entire 7 years he was here.
"Next to my wife" is my favourite line
Some people hating on Calypso as if being alone for a century [and more] is totally normal, and easy, be it mortals or gods - no one would EVER dare do things outside of the norm, sureeeeeely.
Not saying she was right to want to keep Odysseus on her island after knowing he has a wife, that's obviously bad by any standard but I do have sympathy for her at the very least [in this musical]
Um, it’s more to do with a few of her depictions. Let’s just say there’s a really good reason people do not like her in those versions…
Haven't made it past the intro, but I hope you feel better!!
YES! I was waiting for this. I love how yours always comes out first ❤😂
I you on the brink of death, I see you draw you're final breath, when did odysseus's eyes turn red
Hope you recover quickly
Shy guy I've known you for a short time but I became a fan of all your reactions, greetings and I hope you recover soon 😭😭💟
I hope you get better soon!!
8:49 the correction pronunciation is kr-Ib-duhs and a little fun fact is that thing is Poseidon’s daughter
Fun fact, Epic the Musical functions on Diegetic Singing for Mortal Background vocals and nondiegetic Singing for Gods background vocals. This means that if a Mortal has background singers, those singers are physically there. While if a God has Background singers, they don’t have to be.
Odysseus has non diegetic singers in Six Hundred Strike.
get well soon!! ❤
i recently just got 2 of my wisdom teeth removed so i get what you meann, please take your time to recover and take care of yourself!
“I want a villain song”
*Poseidon enters chat*
also, once again idk if other people talked abt this, but with Hermes, he, amongst a lot of other things, is the god of travellers, so the fact that he's helping Odysseus is not surprising, another thing is that he simply enjoys lending a hand to mortals in need and see what they'll do with it, like where their actions will lead, he's really just vibing
“He’s low key a god”
“Well yes but also no”
His great Grandfather is Hermise
Calypso is a titan and she helped the titans fight against Zeus and his siblings. As a punishment she was placed on this desert island and no one could sail there and no one could leave there. Odysseus got away because the gods let him. She can never leave.
yeah man when i saw the veneace saga yesterday was epic and strong
She finally found someone that loved her and after 10 years he finally returns and she wasn't there😤
Came back to comment that the crew and his mom holding him underwater, while seems to be dragging him down, is not them trying to kill him. I think I interpreted it as the heavy burden of their deaths. Their deaths were his responsibility. So if he dies there, it will be all for nothing. Hence, the 600 strike!
My dude literally wouldn't let his body prevent him from enjoying EPIC.
that was wild
THE AMOUNTS OF EUGH 😭🙏🏻
Anybody noticed that the full songs have been leaked for months now😂
It just released, dude take some time, holy, but really thanks, just maybe it was some bad timing, also hope you recover
Fun fact, Athena died by Zeuses thunder bolts, Jorge made some short about it a week or two ago
His impersonation of Athena was just dead
Wtf i just saw Hermes twerking 7:23
It was easy for Poseidon to hold a grudge for ten years because what's that to an immortal god? Not even a blink in time.
Yoo already
so, idk if anyone's mentioned this, but I did see people talk about how Calypso ended up on the island and all...
I'll be real, Calypso will still catch these hands for
holding Odysseus on that island, but I will still feel sorry for her. She just needed a friend, and she finally had one. She did come on too strong, mistaking her attachment to him for love.
Sir: thank you for feeding my EPIC obsession but please take care of yourself first!
Wanna hear something else thats sad about Calypso (i think this is ture) the fates decided to get a little silly and only sent people who couldn't stay cause of there quest and once you leave her island you can never visit it again
EARLY I THINK 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
(get well soon)
Oh my god that was fast
I hope you get better quickly it sounds like you’re really going through it right now, you can take your time putting out content cause your health is far more important.
Myself and I’m sure most viewers are very grateful and appreciative for how quickly you post videos for us, thank you so much. 💜
16:00 bro has the future sight
12:40 one pause 😂 two Poseidon is her uncle and wayyy stronger than her. She prolly still got ptsd when she say Artemis get her butt whooped by Hera
5:12 Stockholm Syndrome
Ody didn't even kill the cyclops
Thats the thing. Poseidon wouldnt even go after him if he killed him, he let his son suffer, so he wanted Ody to feel the same.
The “How will you sleep at night?” Isn’t really hypocritical when you’re a god and there’s no cost for you. If you’re mortal, killing people will weigh on you because you seem these people as valuable as yourself. But for Gods, all humans are expendable. They could make more if they really wanted to.
