Wow! Thank you! I've been looking for a way to make a Christ candle for Advent. This worked PERFECTLY the first time! I found an image off of the Internet. Printed it to the right size onto the tissue paper on my laser printer. Wrapped it in parchment paper and got the hair dryer out. I cannot believe how easy this was. I probably saved myself $50.
awesome Jason! gotta love it when things turn out great like this!! that's why i shared this, bc we spent the $50 on a candle and ever since i've been doing my own! cheers Donna
This is SUCH a wonderful gift idea!!! I just made my boyfriend a few candles for our one year anniversary and it only costed me around 10$! If you’re in the US, the greaseproof wax paper she used is sold here but called parchment paper instead! I was hesitant using my printer on tissue paper but it worked wonderfully! The wax didn’t melt when I adhered the photo trace on either. So glad I found this video :) 10/10 would definitely recommend
!! hi Riley !! your boyfriend would have loved the candles you made him. they're so much more special when you can personalize them. AND thank you so much for your lovely comment, I appreciate it very much, you've made my day cheers Donna
Thank you. Worked great. I used a heat gun. It only takes a moment for the image to print onto them. It rapidly heats up and enough to melt the candle so anyone else using one remember that.
hey Donna! what is the grease proof paper for? and does the picture remain on the candle until it completely burns out? im wanting to make some for my granny & just wanna make them right! she's going to LOVE them
!! hi Khadijah !! The grease proof paper holds down the tissue paper and embeds it into the wax when you heat it slightly. The idea of the grease proof is that its non stick, and the tissue paper is to stick. Once you give the candles to Granny, I agree she will love them and will most like want to keep them as decor so she can continue to look at them and enjoy them. In saying that she can burn them as long as she does under supervision. The pillar candles will burn down as normal because the flame is on the inside and the tissue paper is so thin and on the outside, and will melt and fold down as normal wax candles do. If you are worried at all, other people have commented that they used a battery pillar candle successfully, cheers Donna :-)
this is sooooooooo AWSOM!!! But I do have a question is grease paper the only thing you can use or can you use wax paper or are they considered the same HELP!!! I want to do this
Does having the tissue paper on the candle affect how the candle burns? Like, would you still be able to burn the candle all the way down to the bottom?
!! hi Charlene !! The candle will burn fine because the paper is on the out side of the candle and not near the flame. also the tissue paper is 17gm which is very thin. The picture i used is not wrapped all the way around, it is a cut out close to the outline of the subject, so the tissue paper will melt down with the folds of wax. The flame remains in the center of the candle and at no time is near the outside edge of the candle (under normal circumstances) cheers Donna
Do you have to have greaseproof paper? I have wax paper, and was wondering if that would work? This is amazing. I want to make some for Christmas presents.
!! hi Eibmozluver !! Wax paper will do just fine, as long as it's non stick because you want the tissue paper with the photo on it to stick, and the top piece "wax paper" non-stick. It's there to hold the photo transfer down flat while the wax is heating just enough to act like glue. cheers Donna P.S. they make perfect Christmas presents!
oh wow. I did it and I can't wait to give it to my daughter. I did it on one of those little battery operated candles from the dollar store in beige..how cute!
hi, its awesome, im only confused that is it normal face tissue paper which we use to wipe face hands etc. or transfer/tracing paper use for drawing ?Thanks, love ya :) !♥
!! Happy To Help You !! Firstly thanks for your compliment. It's neither of these two, it's tissue paper like you wrap gifts with, it's very fine 17GSM paper, hope you can find some cheers Donna
hi, thanks bunches , ya got it. it's kinda crispier & use in m anythings... thanks for clearing my doubt . Cheers & hope to watch more videos like this.... ya great :)
Hi! Just wanted to say a bigggg thankyou, i made my 1st candles today and they turned out amazing , i m over the moon right now, the only thing i was not doing right was that i didnt fully cut the tissue paper and i was peeling that off 2 , i thought ink just gonna melt into the candle in actual i wasnt supposed to peel the tissue at all🙈 and 2ndly i just want to let everyone know that i have got a pad of A4 tracing papers from poundland and i directly printed on it, no need to attach onto normal paper sheet. Thanku again
!! hi A2zyumm Cakes !! well you had a fun time lol, glad you stuck with it. can you tell me if you actually ended up directly printing onto tracing paper and then fusing that onto the candle? and not using the tissue paper at all 🦋 cheers Donna
What window of time if any, do you need to do the transfer? Eg can I print pictures off at the library drive home and do it, or does it need to be done with a min of printing them?
Hi Dena, firstly thank you for taking the time to show us how to do this...its great ...l have made a couple using your method but for some reason the following morning l notice there are like air bubbles under the image..(they look like scratch marks...) what could possibly cause this?...what could l be doing wrong..?
Hi Marabelle, when I made mine i found flattening the tissue paper (printed transfer) as much as possible, and then placing the top sheet wax paper on tightly worked out fine. Because you have bubbles (i didn't get them) try getting a pin and poking in the center of the bubble and very lightly go back over that area with the hair dryer again, when it just starts to melt, and i mean a tiny little bit, just smooth it out with the back of a tea spoon. gently, so you don't damage it. let me know if it fixed it. i'm curious Cheers Donna
thanks for your reply Donna...yes l get this first part right...this issue happens after a few hours when the candle has cooled..it's almost like the tissue is wrinkling... :(
hmmm that's strange alright? can you take a picture of it and show me? you can post it as a comment on my page here if you use facebook or send me a private message. facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy or send it as a message here on youtube, lets see if we can work it out :-)
Hello, i have a question. What's the difference between printing on regular paper versus printing on tissue paper and transfering it on the candle? which has a more professional finish look?
!! hi Ola El Chihni !! the difference is...the normal paper will not disappear into the wax, you will see it because it is heavier/thicker paper. The tissue paper is very light you can see through it when you hold it up, so when you print on it and heat/fuse it to the candle it disappears into the wax making it look like there is no edge. it makes it look like you printed directly onto the candle. definitely the tissue paper more pro finish !! 🦋 cheers Donna
!! hi Tasha !! if you get a pillar candle like i have in the demonstration they last quiet a while, It's really difficult for me to say how long they will last for because it depends on how long you burn them for each day? For some of the candles that i go to a lot of effort to put a transfer on, i don't burn them i keep them for decor purposes. If you do burn them the tissue paper is so fine and it's on the outside of the candle and never gets burnt, because the flame is in the middle of the candle. So, no the picture won't burn but it will be ruined as it just folds and and melts away with the candle as it melts down, cheers Donna
!! hi cristina !! no it's not the same, the paper that goes on the candle is tissue paper. and the paper that is the cover while heating is grease proof or non-stick baking paper (used for baking) cheers Donna
When you lay the tissue paper onto the candle....do you face the printed side towards the candle, or does it face towards you? I hope that makes sense.
I have been looking for the grease paper all day, but only see the wax paper and the parchment paper. Would either one of those work? And thanks these are great ideas
!! hi Bre !! yes the wax paper will work fine and as long as the parchment paper is non-stick it also will be fine, it's also known as baking paper. cheers Donna :-)
!! hi Chloe !! firstly start with holding that tissue paper picture on fairly tight with the top piece of non-stick paper (wax-paper) your transfer needs to lay really flat and that includes the corners. QUESTION ANSWER, how long to heat the transfer depends on the wax and the heat of the hair dryer and how close you are holding it to the candle. watch how far i am holding the hair dryer from the candle and keep it moving...you can see the wax starting to melt through the paper. move the heat to the areas that need it as you go. dont over heat in any one spot or under heat in any one spot, keep it even all over the candle. the wax only needs to melt a little bit to act like glue, and the top piece of paper pushes the transfer into the gluey wax. cheers Donna
!! hi Sacha !! just long enough to only very slightly melt the wax, the hot wax will act as a glue to hold the tissue paper on and the wax paper over the top holds the tissue paper flat onto the candle. cheers Donna
!! hi Victoria !! no this is not for glass or wood. and yes you do need to use a hair dryer. If you wanted to you could try a heat gun but that might get way too hot, hold it back further and keep it moving, only very slightly melt the wax. cheers Donna
!! hi Ranath !! the tissue paper is so fine it wrinkles up and folds down with the wax as it melts. it doesn't burn because the wick is in the center of the candle. i don't burn my candles because i keep them for keepsakes and decor in my room. cheers Donna
hi there, how do you add the beads on the candles, etc? is glue safe? i'd like to do a christening candle so would like to stick on a ribbon and some crystals
!! hi Wesley !! the beads I used were the flat back sticker style ones that you get from the $2 dollar shop, they have a big variety. If they don't stick just use an all purpose clear drying craft glue. If it's for a keepsake you could put beads anywhere you like to work in with your design, if you think the candle will be used, just pop them around the bottom, or the lower third. cheers Donna
Thank you so much!!! Everything worked just as described. From the printer to the blow drying. I'm giving these as gifts and the recipients are going to love them. I am so glad I found your video. I am clicking on subscribe right now!!😀😀😀😀
!! hi Anish Sah !! thanks for the compliment :-) others have said that the laser toner smudges? try it because every tissue paper is different i am guessing? it would really depend on the finish of the tissue paper. if it is a flat finish is may take the toner, if it is a shiny finish it will repel and smudge. cheers Donna
Hi i am very happy to find this Donna thank you for sharing , how do we add words as well to the candle wiht image could you demonstrate that anytime xx
+Jane McNally Hi Jane, Yes! I do have another video planed to show you how to set up your printer for printing text or a photo to go on the candles. I am recovering from major surgery so as soon as I am able to get it done I will, I'm curious what program do you use? I use photoshop :-)
Hi Donna, I am new to this so i dont have any idea about photo shop sorry I wish you aquick recovery... and look forward to more videos i want to write omn a candle thank you xxx much love
+Jane McNally where did you send the message Jane, I can't locate it? you can message me on my facebook page if you have it facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy/
For people who are in America the paper that she put over the picture is gift wrapping paper and the paper that she put over the picture while melting the candle is parchment paper fyi you welcome!!!!
On some video using the same tehcnique, someone said that the tissue paper would catch fire, that it was dangerous... that it can only be used as decoration and not be burnt... is that true ? Have you tried ??
!! hi Anna !! firstly you should always burn candles under supervision, it is good advice to offer caution. The tissue paper has been used on the outside of the candle in a small amount and the candle burns from the center at the wick. I have used my candles for decor and I have burnt them only for demonstration and only when i'm in the room, cheers Donna
!! hi 2626firefly !! I love this too! the different pics will look awesome, so personal feel free to show what you make over on my facebook page ArtCraftCrazy cheers Donna
When I printed the photo I chose to print smudge the dark area was blotty and I could see that the ink from my ink jet printer ran. Will spraying the tissue before printing with a spray fixative affect the placing of the photo on the candle, or what would you suggest
Hey Neal have alook at tour paper to see ifs theres a shiny side and a matt side. Print on the matt side and dont select photo qaulity try standard print so it doesnt push as much ink out to the paper. Set it to the side and dont touch it for an hour or more if needed to totally dry. I know nothing about fixatives cheers Donna
+Dove Lowery Hi Dove, I used an Epson Stylus Photo R1900. I also changed the settings in the print options so that the printer printed a little bit slower than usual. If you are printing a photograph like I have done in the video this is how I changed the settings in Printer Management prntscr.com/auu92c . when you choose your printer to print you should be able to adjust the print options before you actually hit PRINT. then hit print once you have changed the settings. I will be doing a video on exactly how I done this once I recover from my stay in hospital, I have recently had major surgery, Cheers Donna PS let me know if this helps :-)
Hi there, I added some decorative designs to a candle using this method a couple of days ago. Today they look as if the tissue paper is peeling off. Any ideas what would have caused this or how I can prevent it from happening?
!! hi Veronica !! I'll give it a go without seeing :-) maybe a couple of reasons 1/Too much heat... if too much heat is applied the wax will over melt and start to run under the tissue paper, it only needs to melt ever so slightly just enough to act as a glue to melt into and hold the tissue paper onto the candle. 2/ keep that heat moving evenly 3/ Not enough heat...if you don't heat it enough the wax may not have melted enough to hold it on permanently 4/ hold your top sheet of wax/baking paper tight, @5:56 this forces the tissue paper to lay flat into the wax when the heat starts the melt process, you should see the wax change and look a bit greasy through this top, sheet and you can have sneak peaks along the way @7:35 hope this helps get your candle looking beautiful without it lifting, cheers Donna
I am so excited that I found this tutorial! I make Personalized T-Shirt Ornaments with any image in the world and personalize them with names, etc but I was looking for something new this year when I saw that it would cost me $40 for a personalized Yankee Candle! I was wondering though.... if the pics would still turn out right on colored candles? Like my T-Shirt Ornaments.... color is a big thing in matching my Dark / Light transfers. Would dark images be better on the white candle and colored candles for your photos with less dark colors? Thank You so much! Very excited to do this! How nice of you to show us how!
!! hi Journey Storm !! white candles show off the best, however it would be worth it to test a dark candle and and see how it shows the pic? I haven't done a dark candle. If the dark candle doesn't work out, try printing a colour match strip at the top of the candle and one at the bottom like a border. Also there are LED candles available and you could glue on paper flowers in matching colours and bling etc this would look lovely too. happy creating :-) cheers Donna
!! hi rashee !! yes, i did use tissue paper for the transfer and also used wax paper or grease proof or baking paper for the cover when i used the heat. You should be able to get the tissue paper from stationary shop and baking paper from grocery store. cheers Donna
rashee nigam tissue paper in usa is different from tissue paper in india. The one in the video is like the thin pink sheet u usually find in jewelry boxes. . .
!! hi Kristina !! I used mine for decor. I'm guessing you could light them because, the flame is in the center of the candle and the tissue paper is around the outside no where near the flame. Always take causion with candles and light under supervision 🦋 cheers Donna
Just wow ! I'm very impressed it's just that I'm curious about one thing. I would like to ask what kind of tissue paper or brand did you guys used ? thank you
!! hi Mich Mejos !! thanks for the compliment! I'm in Australia so i'm guessing brands will differ all over the world. The brand I used was Diamond premium tissue paper 17 GSM 500 x750mm in white. cheers Donna
I will try, tissue paper paper is often used in gift shops as wrapping paper, it's a very fine paper that you can almost see through. Look for any paper that has a low GSM like the one I used is 17GSM it is very thin, search the internet if you can't buy it local. The alternative would be to use a heavier paper like an 80 or 100GSM and cut your design out right on the edge so you can't see any of the white paper. let me know how you go with this Mich my facebook page is facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy/ :-)
!! hi Citlali !! no, you really need the wax to make this work, but you could use a tracing paper or vellum it would be an entirely different method. print your image onto the transparent paper of your choice and cut it to fit around your glass and sticky tape it around the back. the candle would glow inside the glass beautifully. cheers Donna
Hi. Thanks for the great tutorial. Is there a way I can seal the paper on the candle or does it somehow become part of the candle wax? Does it feel like paper or wax if you run your hand over the transfer? I would like to make & sell so then need the transfer to become 'one with the candle' if that makes sense.
Gday Mark, you don't need to seal the paper because the candle wax fuses the tissue paper into the wax. when you hold the non-stick paper tightly over the top of the printed tissue paper it forces it into the wax, and the wax pretty much soaks through the tissue paper. You will have to do a test sample candle to see if you like this method enough to sell. Mine turned out really good, don't under heat the wax or it will lift and don't over heat the wax or it will bubble and drip, it needs to be just right, cheers Donna
TᕼᗩᑎKᔕ ᗩ ᒪOT Shaaz hope you get to try it, it does work and looks great, i still have mine after all these years since i've made the video :-) 🦋 cheers Donna
!! hi Jovie !! in Australia we only call it tissue paper, i don't know of any other name. In the video i show you the package and it's 17gsm which is a very light paper that if you put your hand behind it you will see it through the paper 🦋 cheers Donna
Great idea, looks lovely. My one tip would be do not cut to close to photo then use water and thin paint brush and draw round the photo with the water, then pull away with you fingers, it will leave fibers hanging which will blend the photo into the candle with no harsh lines around your photo. Thanks for sharing your video looks lovely
thanks a lot, im sorry for the late reply youtube have now a new system where they show all the comments un responded to, you should see them all wowza!! YT have been naughty hiding my comments!! 🦋 cheers Donna
Hi Cierra, yes it does, the heat from the hair dryer melts the outer layer of the candle wax enough that the tissue paper is glued to the candle by the melted wax (fused). When the wax cools it stays there permanently, be careful not to over heat when using the hairdryer, you don't want beads of wax running down your design, just keep the hairdryer moving and heat it enough to fuse it to the candle, you will see what I mean when you actually do it :-) cheers Donna
!! Hi Tiffany !! it's up to you, i havent burnt my candles because i keep them for decor only. If you burn your candles its always advised that you burn under supervision at all times. and just know that the flame is only on the wick in the middle of the candle, the flame doesnt go near the outer edge of the candle, the tissue paper is so thin it should just fold away and melt with the wax. just watch it if you decide to burn your's i cant say you can or you cant because i havent, Cheers Donna
if you wrap the whole candle in tissue paper, or it will fold down as the wax melts. the wax melts as usual and the paper could stay upright? i only burn the candle if im in the room and the flame stays to the inside of the wax it never goes near the outside edge, but to be sgfe always supervise
With candles like these, I drill out the top of it to make a hole for dropping in a tea light/candle. That way I can just keep burning and replacing tea candles and have these specially modified, large candles ones for a very long time. I use a spade bit in a drill to carve out a hole for the tea candle.
Hi Donna, Thank you so much for this beautiful Tutorial. 1. Can you please tell me the diameter & length of the Candles you have used in the tutorial? 2. And can suggest any alternatives to a) Tissue Paper b)Greaseproof Paper ?
I made the video 5 years ago Rifat, i don't have the measurements anymore. I also am not aware of any paper that is like tissue paper either it is 17gsm paper so i guess if you can find a paper that is really thin, maybe you could use a napkin by peeling away the layers, like a 3 ply napkin remove the 2 back layers and you would be left with the printed layer. and greaseproof paper is baking paper or any non stick kitchen cooking paper cheers Donna
hi there, i havent read all the comments so im unsure if this question has already been asked, but instead of a dryer could you use a craft heat gun, a heat tool that's used for embossing powder? thank you, I enjoyed watching the video, found it was very detailed and great tip about sticking it onto printing paper before.
!! hi Tegan !! its best to use a hair dryer because the heat gun can be a bit aggressive. even though you could use it you would have to keep it at a minimum and keep it moving, you only need to heat until the tissue paper is fused to the candle wax, don't let it start dripping, cheers Donna
!! hi Michelle !! i'm sure you could, the reason I use white is because the edges dissapear into the candle wax when it is fused/heated with the hairdryer, cheers Donna
Hi. Good Evening. I have a question that nobody has asked you. Will this work on a laser printer? I love your little babies. Adorable. You are so talented. The transfer is so neat on your candle . Once i transferred a picture and the candle "bubbled and got uneven. So ugly. Thanks for sharing and caring.
!! hi Knittyneeds !! this questions has been asked earlier. Another crafter used the laser printer and the toner ink smudged (that she used) the kiddies on the candles are my niece and nephew when they were little, i use them a lot in my video's they love the camera! I'm thinking the reason that your transfer bubbled on your candle, might be because it was too hot, too much heat in the one spot, you only need a little heat and move the heat around. the wax only needs to melt ever so slightly to hold the tissue paper on (like glue) P.S I only just spotted your lovely message just now, cheers Donna
!! hi Kassie !! I used an inkjet. I'm not familiar with the process you asked about. but at a guess i would say an iron is too hot, the direct heat would be a problem for you. 🦋 cheers Donna
!! hi Fatmah !! your becoming a regular lol. No, crepe paper and tissue paper are not the same, I don't think crepe paper will go through the printer that well? because it doesn't lay flat enough. Stick with the tissue paper it works the best. TIP: If you are having troubles buying it, try going to a store that sells gifts, they often use it to wrap delicate things up before they pop them in the carry bag. cheers Donna
Is there any other way to make the picture the correct size without Photoshop? Sorry if already been asked. Family member recently passed away so would like to make candles for the family with pictures of him .x
Gday Chlobo im sorry for your loss this candle is perfect we had one for our Dad it was so special. There are a few free programs but one that comes to mind is Open Office it's like microsoft word and has 'Open Draw' feature you may have to YT how to use it but just to get your photo done it should be relativity quick to learn just that process, then you can continue using it for other things. Prayers to you and your Family at this sad time Donna
!! hey Josh !! if the parchment paper you are asking about is non stick, yes you can because you need the top sheet that wraps around the the candle to be non-stick, it's also known as baking paper, cheers Donna
!! hi Andrea !! probablly not because parchment paper is used for cooking and is non stick. you neeed to use tissue paper so it is held/fused into the wax when it gets hot 🦋 cheers Donna
!! Hi Anita !! thanks for the compliment :-) perfect for a personalized wedding gift, pop over to my facey page and share after your friends have received your gift if you want to share facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy cheers Donna
hello Dr S. can you tell me if the picture comes off the tissue paper after it's printed or off the candle when you fuse the tissue paper to the candle? If it comes off the candle after you have melted the wax, start over, put the tissue paper in place hold the non stick cooking paper tightly over top and heat the wax again, holding the paper tightly will press (fuse) the paper into the candle, if you dont heat it enough it will not fuse if you heat it too much the wax will bubble and drip, you need the goldilocks heat just right. If its the printer you need to use an inkjet and print the tissue paper on the mat side not the shiny side 🦋 hugs Donna
!! hi Daisy !! not very long at all, just a tiny bit because the tissue paper is so thin, and the wax only needs to slightly melt enough to act like glue. (do not let it form drips) cheers Donna
I assume greaseproof paper is the same as parchment or baking paper? I was hoping to see how you made the other two candles with the bling. Did you print & transfer the words onto those as well?
Gday Andrea, yes greaseproof is baking paper or any non stick cooking paper. I only demonstrated one candle because they all the same method no difference. the bling I used was stickers from the dollar shop, you might want to add some glue if the wax repels the sticker Thx!♡ thanks for tuning in and happy crafting 🦋 cheers Donna
Gday, you could use a heat gun....they are a bit more aggressive than a hair dryer. A hair dryer gets plenty hot enough for this project but if you do use the heat gun keep it further away and keep it moving, don't let the wax form drips, it just needs to melt slightly just enough to fuse the tissue paper to the candle cheers Donna
I did exactly as instructed but unfort. the images did not go on the candle .....i used a beeswax candle ....could that be the issue? was I not using the proper type of candle wax? does this only work on paraffin wax candles ?
hey Tom, i haven't used this on the beeswax but it should should still work yes, there's a fine line between under melting the wax to fuse the paper into the wax and over heating the wax until it drips, you want it just in the middle, under heating- it won't fuse, over heating it will melt and run, just right it will hold and fuse the tissue and the top non-stick paper needs to be held tight to push it in as well, cheers Donna
@@tomfinnegan4029 yes, the tissue paper stays on the candle, if you use beeswax you would be best to cut the tissue paper close to the image so it doesn't show any white tissue paper on the yellow beeswax. when you heat the wax the tissue paper fuses into the wax and stays there permanently.
Wow!
!! hi Riley !! your boyfriend would have loved the candles you made him. they're so much more special when you can personalize them. AND thank you so much for your lovely comment, I appreciate it very much, you've made my day cheers Donna

Thank you. Worked great. I used a heat gun. It only takes a moment for the image to print onto them. It rapidly heats up and enough to melt the candle so anyone else using one remember that.
it does work well thanks alot @madeanotherchannel, thanks for the heat gun tip too ✨ ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
I had no idea it would that that easy! Thank you.
!! hi Lorna !! agree, it's easy and super cute when you personalize it! cheers Donna
hey Donna! what is the grease proof paper for? and does the picture remain on the candle until it completely burns out? im wanting to make some for my granny & just wanna make them right! she's going to LOVE them
!! hi Khadijah !!
I want to do this
!! hi cece !! you are like me so passionate about your craft!! YES, grease and wax paper are the same, cheers Donna
Thats the best tutorial for prints on candles thank you 🙏 so much
!! Hi Zahra !! You have just made my day! Thanks heaps cheers Donna
Love it ! Thank you. Put can you tell me what exactly is greaseproof paper? It is parchment paper that you use for baking?
rosie9057 !! hi Rosie !! yes your right on, grease proof paper is non-stick baking paper, cheers donna
This totally works thank you so much made candles for my mothers 1 year anniversary of passing just finished it right now
Lea Meza !! hi Lea !! so pleased it worked and thanks for letting me know and sharing such a special moment, respect Donna
Ah, I see. Thank you for the information. I can't wait to try this. 😀😊☺
anytime, love your enthusiasm! :-)
Thank you so much for sharing this excellent idea! I just made my first transfer and it came out perfectly. You are awesome!!
You are so welcome Isaiah! that's awesome thanks for the feed back yay!! ♥︎♡☆🦋 cheers Donna
oh wow. I did it and I can't wait to give it to my daughter. I did it on one of those little battery operated candles from the dollar store in beige..how cute!
!! Hi sinrose501 !! Love it, your daughter will love it! The LED are great for this technique, cheers Donna
hi, its awesome, im only confused that is it normal face tissue paper which we use to wipe face hands etc. or transfer/tracing paper use for drawing ?Thanks, love ya :) !♥
Cheers & hope to watch more videos like this.... ya great :)
Thank you so much Donna. I absolutely love this idea Im going to do these for Christmas gifts
!! hi TX4 !! thanks for the compliment :-) everybody loves candles they will be well received, cheers Donna
That looks so easy to do a lot less complicated than I thought it would be!
it's a fun project Leanne, just melt that wax the right amount and all will be good ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
What window of time if any, do you need to do the transfer? Eg can I print pictures off at the library drive home and do it, or does it need to be done with a min of printing them?
no probs about printing at all, you can print and do it a week later, thanks for tuning in N the kitchen cheers Donna
hmmm that's strange alright? can you take a picture of it and show me? you can post it as a comment on my page here if you use facebook or send me a private message. facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy
or send it as a message here on youtube, lets see if we can work it out :-)
thank you have inboxed you on facebook.
replied, it's a beautiful candle :-)
About how long will they last ? Great idea! and will the picture burn down afterwards?
!! hi Tasha !! if you get a pillar candle like i have in the demonstration they last quiet a while, It's really difficult for me to say how long they will last for because it depends on how long you burn them for each day? For some of the candles that i go to a lot of effort to put a transfer on, i don't burn them i keep them for decor purposes. If you do burn them the tissue paper is so fine and it's on the outside of the candle and never gets burnt, because the flame is in the middle of the candle. So, no the picture won't burn but it will be ruined as it just folds and and melts away with the candle as it melts down, cheers Donna
ArtCraftCrazy thanks sounds great!!! Again great job!!
Love the easy to follow video! Looking forward to starting my project soon!
!! hi TJP !! aw thanks for the compliment, and happy creating! cheers Donna
is the one you use in printing the picture was the same paper you use in covering while blow drying...is it also grease paper? :)
!! hi cristina !! no it's not the same, the paper that goes on the candle is tissue paper. and the paper that is the cover while heating is grease proof or non-stick baking paper (used for baking) cheers Donna
This is awesome! I had no idea I could do this. Very excited to try!
!! hi Jasmine !! it is awesome! I've done a few now and everyone loves them, cheers Donna
is grease proof paper the kind you use for baking in the oven? Thank you.
!! hi Caminitos !! yes it sure is, it's good to go ahead and use it. cheers Donna
When you lay the tissue paper onto the candle....do you face the printed side towards the candle, or does it face towards you? I hope that makes sense.
!! hi Kelly !! great question, face the printed side towards you, happy creating cheers Donna
Thank you. Love this idea. I plan on trying it for a party.
!! hi Gladys !! thanks this would be perfect to personalise for a party cheers Donna
Hi,
Ive just started printing pictures onto candles. How long do i need to heat it for as the corners keep pealing?
Many thanks in advance.
!! hi Chloe !! firstly start with holding that tissue paper picture on fairly tight with the top piece of non-stick paper (wax-paper) your transfer needs to lay really flat and that includes the corners.
How long do you use the hair dryer on the candle??
!! hi Sacha !! just long enough to only very slightly melt the wax, the hot wax will act as a glue to hold the tissue paper on and the wax paper over the top holds the tissue paper flat onto the candle. cheers Donna
hey donna can this tissue paper method that you have done. can it be used on glass or wood. also do i need to use a blow dryer.
!! hi Victoria !! no this is not for glass or wood. and yes you do need to use a hair dryer. If you wanted to you could try a heat gun but that might get way too hot, hold it back further and keep it moving, only very slightly melt the wax. cheers Donna
Fantastic....!!! I'll use this for Christmas presents, thanks a lot ;)
!! hi Eleonora !! perfect for Christmas gifts, your friends and family will love them especially when they know you've made them, cheers Donna
this is awesome going to try it. Is greaseproof paper the same as baking paper?
!! hi Sia P !! yes it is, thanks for the compliment, cheers Donna
great tutorial, but i wonder what happen to the printed paper while burning down the candle.. is it burning or remain???
!! hi Ranath !! the tissue paper is so fine it wrinkles up and folds down with the wax as it melts. it doesn't burn because the wick is in the center of the candle. i don't burn my candles because i keep them for keepsakes and decor in my room. cheers Donna
Oky. Got it. Thankuu
hi there, how do you add the beads on the candles, etc? is glue safe? i'd like to do a christening candle so would like to stick on a ribbon and some crystals
!! hi Wesley !! the beads I used were the flat back sticker style ones that you get from the $2 dollar shop, they have a big variety. If they don't stick just use an all purpose clear drying craft glue. If it's for a keepsake you could put beads anywhere you like to work in with your design, if you think the candle will be used, just pop them around the bottom, or the lower third. cheers Donna
Hello Donna, thank you for posting this video. This is perfect for my christmas gift. :-) Take care..

Great tutorial!
I was wondering if i can use a laser printer instead?
Thanks for sharing your work!
!! hi Anish Sah !! thanks for the compliment :-) others have said that the laser toner smudges? try it because every tissue paper is different i am guessing? it would really depend on the finish of the tissue paper. if it is a flat finish is may take the toner, if it is a shiny finish it will repel and smudge. cheers Donna
Thank you, Donna:)

This technique has SO many amazing possibilities. I just love it. 😍

I know nothing about fixatives cheers Donna
mod podge the image and then try make sure its dry
@@JunkJournalideas
Hey Donna, what kind of inkjet did you use. I am having trouble getting my image on the tissue paper. Can you help me.

Is greaseproof wax paper the same as parchment paper?
!! hi Riley !! yes, as long as it's a non-stick baking paper, that's what you want and your all good to go. cheers Donna
Hi there, I added some decorative designs to a candle using this method a couple of days ago. Today they look as if the tissue paper is peeling off. Any ideas what would have caused this or how I can prevent it from happening?
!! hi Veronica !! I'll give it a go without seeing :-) maybe a couple of reasons
1/Too much heat... if too much heat is applied the wax will over melt and start to run under the tissue paper, it only needs to melt ever so slightly just enough to act as a glue to melt into and hold the tissue paper onto the candle.
2/ keep that heat moving evenly
3/ Not enough heat...if you don't heat it enough the wax may not have melted enough to hold it on permanently
4/ hold your top sheet of wax/baking paper tight, @5:56 this forces the tissue paper to lay flat into the wax when the heat starts the melt process, you should see the wax change and look a bit greasy through this top, sheet and you can have sneak peaks along the way @7:35
hope this helps get your candle looking beautiful without it lifting, cheers Donna
Is wax paper the same as grease proof paper? I am from Canada and never heard of grease proof paper
!! hi Donna !! yes wax paper is the same as greaseproof, you can use any non stick cooking paper you can get, cheers Donna :-)

Also there are LED candles available and you could glue on paper flowers in matching colours and bling etc this would look lovely too. happy creating :-) cheers Donna
woow woooww woooww this video is outstanding I love it and I will try to make it

very nice Mam. Plz clear one thing....u used tisu paper or wax paper? tisu paper.....we can find easily from Stationary shop?
!! hi rashee !! yes, i did use tissue paper for the transfer and also used wax paper or grease proof or baking paper for the cover when i used the heat. You should be able to get the tissue paper from stationary shop and baking paper from grocery store. cheers Donna
rashee nigam tissue paper in usa is different from tissue paper in india. The one in the video is like the thin pink sheet u usually find in jewelry boxes. . .
Are the candles safe to light? Or are they decorative only?
!! hi Kristina !!
ArtCraftCrazy thank you ! Do you have any suggestions for alternatives.?
I will try, tissue paper paper is often used in gift shops as wrapping paper, it's a very fine paper that you can almost see through. Look for any paper that has a low GSM like the one I used is 17GSM it is very thin, search the internet if you can't buy it local. The alternative would be to use a heavier paper like an 80 or 100GSM and cut your design out right on the edge so you can't see any of the white paper. let me know how you go with this Mich my facebook page is facebook.com/ArtCraftCrazy/ :-)
ArtCraftCrazy thank you so much !
your very welcome :-)
Can this method work on glass ? Like instead of using candles can it be done on a glass/frame.
!! hi Citlali !! no, you really need the wax to make this work, but you could use a tracing paper or vellum it would be an entirely different method. print your image onto the transparent paper of your choice and cut it to fit around your glass and sticky tape it around the back. the candle would glow inside the glass beautifully. cheers Donna
Mine turned out really good, don't under heat the wax or it will lift and don't over heat the wax or it will bubble and drip, it needs to be just right, cheers Donna
print on tissue paper and blow dry onto candle! thanx mum!

yes!! thats it you can use either one happy creating 🦋 cheers Donna
I'm wondering that as well, which side does the wax go onto?
Great idea, looks lovely. My one tip would be do not cut to close to photo then use water and thin paint brush and draw round the photo with the water, then pull away with you fingers, it will leave fibers hanging which will blend the photo into the candle with no harsh lines around your photo. Thanks for sharing your video looks lovely

I have a quick question, does the image and the tissue paper fuse together on the candle ? Permanent?~~cc
Can you burn the candle all the way down or should you not?
Hiiiii 😊 when finished with wax paper, is it reusable at all times or should it be changed every time? thank you
!! Hi Anissa !! Yes it is reusable because you are only using it to hold over top of the tissue paper. Cheers donna
what happens when you use the whole candle? does the picture burn?
if you wrap the whole candle in tissue paper, or it will fold down as the wax melts. the wax melts as usual and the paper could stay upright? i only burn the candle if im in the room and the flame stays to the inside of the wax it never goes near the outside edge, but to be sgfe always supervise
With candles like these, I drill out the top of it to make a hole for dropping in a tea light/candle. That way I can just keep burning and replacing tea candles and have these specially modified, large candles ones for a very long time. I use a spade bit in a drill to carve out a hole for the tea candle.
Hi Donna,
Thank you so much for this beautiful Tutorial.
1. Can you please tell me the diameter & length of the Candles you have used in the tutorial?
2. And can suggest any alternatives to
a) Tissue Paper
b)Greaseproof Paper ?
I made the video 5 years ago Rifat, i don't have the measurements anymore. I also am not aware of any paper that is like tissue paper either it is 17gsm paper so i guess if you can find a paper that is really thin, maybe you could use a napkin by peeling away the layers, like a 3 ply napkin remove the 2 back layers and you would be left with the printed layer. and greaseproof paper is baking paper or any non stick kitchen cooking paper cheers Donna
@@JunkJournalideas Thank you Dear.
Can we use wax paper or grease proof paper?
!! hi Surita !! you can use either wax or grease proof paper, also known as baking paper as long as it is non-stick, cheers Donna
Thank you very much ❤❤❤

hi there, i havent read all the comments so im unsure if this question has already been asked, but instead of a dryer could you use a craft heat gun, a heat tool that's used for embossing powder? thank you, I enjoyed watching the video, found it was very detailed and great tip about sticking it onto printing paper before.
!! hi Tegan !! its best to use a hair dryer because the heat gun can be a bit aggressive. even though you could use it you would have to keep it at a minimum and keep it moving, you only need to heat until the tissue paper is fused to the candle wax, don't let it start dripping, cheers Donna
Can you use any color tissue paper
!! hi Michelle !! i'm sure you could, the reason I use white is because the edges dissapear into the candle wax when it is fused/heated with the hairdryer, cheers Donna
Thank you I made 2 I wish I can post them.

I like the idea but how can you light a candle of a loved ones photo on it.I would keep it just for Decoration
!! Hi Kerry !! I know right, I have kept mine for decor. Cheers Donna

Do you have an ink jet printer or laser? And can you do it how they do the napkins with a regular iron
!! hi Kassie !! I used an inkjet. I'm not familiar with the process you asked about. but at a guess i would say an iron is too hot, the direct heat would be a problem for you. 🦋 cheers Donna
one quick question, can I use crepe paper instead of tissue paper or are they the same? Pls reply 😐
!! hi Fatmah !! your becoming a regular lol.

I tried this method but once the picture dries it comes off...dont know what I am doing wrong...pls suggest
hello Dr S. can you tell me if the picture comes off the tissue paper after it's printed or off the candle when you fuse the tissue paper to the candle? If it comes off the candle after you have melted the wax, start over, put the tissue paper in place hold the non stick cooking paper tightly over top and heat the wax again, holding the paper tightly will press (fuse) the paper into the candle, if you dont heat it enough it will not fuse if you heat it too much the wax will bubble and drip, you need the goldilocks heat just right.
If its the printer you need to use an inkjet and print the tissue paper on the mat side not the shiny side 🦋 hugs Donna
@@JunkJournalideas hi, thank you for the response
The photo comes off the candle after few hours

Hi, how long did you have to blow dry it for it to melt?
!! hi Daisy !! not very long at all, just a tiny bit because the tissue paper is so thin, and the wax only needs to slightly melt enough to act like glue.

Can I use a heat gun or it has to be a blow dryer?
Gday, you could use a heat gun....they are a bit more aggressive than a hair dryer. A hair dryer gets plenty hot enough for this project but if you do use the heat gun keep it further away and keep it moving, don't let the wax form drips, it just needs to melt slightly just enough to fuse the tissue paper to the candle cheers Donna
Thank you!
These make wonderful gifts.....
!! hi Susan !! yes, there perfect for gifts, and affordable too cheers Donna
Happy Easter my friend
Happy Easter Susan :-)
Thank you so much. Hope your Easter was great...........
@@JunkJournalideas now is the tissue paper meant to be on the candle itself...or is the ink supposed to be heated on and peel off the tissue paper?
@@tomfinnegan4029 yes, the tissue paper stays on the candle, if you use beeswax you would be best to cut the tissue paper close to the image so it doesn't show any white tissue paper on the yellow beeswax. when you heat the wax the tissue paper fuses into the wax and stays there permanently.
