    Why doesn't CR Laurence just include a template?!

    • @nosforatu101
      @nosforatu101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah just print it on the side of the box. They have the boxes printed with their details already. The cost would be negligible.

    The inner structure of the door has the cutout for the window. You just have to cut along the line that's already provided

    How did you ensure that the square outside edge of the window lined up perfectly with the outside lines on the door?

  • @Skir_plunx
    @Skir_plunx ปีที่แล้ว

    Bought the exact same window and the aluminum frame piece is bent to match to the contour of the van. It looks like yours lays flat when tracing it for a template. Any advice on making the template with this bend. Did the other people helping just force it down while you traced?

    FW395R - No Layout Required. Use OEM Interior Stampings for Cut Line, didn't you read this? Would this have worked? Really curious.

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people have tried and almost ruined their van. You have to be really careful not to cut the hole too big if you go that route.

  • @DrifterJourney
    @DrifterJourney 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great job! Very thorough and we love your wood frame idea. We'll be cutting our holes soon (hopefully next week) and we're definitely planning to follow your process. One question......what would you have done if there was a leak?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Leaks are usually from not getting the frame tight enough so the gasket isn't fully sealing. It's just a matter of making sure all the screws are tight enough around the entire frame (but not so tight that they strip).

    Nice job Jason. I have a sliding door question. I bought a Promaster 2019 cargo van with the intention to put a window in the slider as well. Looks like the cargo van has a slider that doesn't allow for a window. People tell me the strut down the middle shouldn't be cut. Didn't know there were different types of sliding doors at the time. Now i have a window I can't use. Did you have a different slider or am I just getting a run around?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you're getting the run around. Go to 4:10 in the video, does your door look different than this?

    • @Gorillahouse2024
      @Gorillahouse2024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Judging from looking at the window frame by shape and weight, it appears to be far stronger than the factory middle strut. It should be no worry of cutting it as long as you fasten all of the window's screws properly.

    Hello awesome 👌 job I'm following your videos and I'm doing good so far. Now I'm at the window order part of my build. What are your Pros & Cons on windows now that you had them for a while now? Hope to read tour reply soon 🙂

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love having all of the windows, they make the space seem bigger and it’s nice to be able to look out without having all your doors open. The biggest con was just installation.

    Very easy to follow video......👍.
    I'm thinking of adding one of these windows to help with the blind spot....do you find it easier to drive since you've added the slider window?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, definitely!

    With regards to the template, the drill guide holes appear to hug the frame flange of inner side of the door to a tee. Seems like you just connect the dots. It seems that the inner side flange of the door is the template itself. Am I wrong on this?? Nicely done, BTW. Is silicone recommended as extra insurance??

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's what it looks like, but they don't line up perfectly. If I would have followed those lines, I think I would have had issues. I'm not sure if they recommend silicone or not.

      @@JasonKlunk Jason, This is the gold standard as far as videos on this install. As per question above, did the inner flange line up with exception of the corners? I plan to use your method this weekend. Thanks so much!

      lol those lines lined up perfectly. Idk what you are smoking 😂

    It looks great. Did you add any butyl to the outside of the door where the black glass touched the metal?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. No butyl for these windows

  • @steveohhhh
    @steveohhhh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So now that time has passed how has this window held up against leaks? Still a good seal with no butyl tape?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, no leaks so far!

  • @mnsignr
    @mnsignr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How come there’s no silicone on the glass of the outside?

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's already a gasket around the window that seals when you tighten the bracket.

    • @mnsignr
      @mnsignr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also forgot that you had used that butyl double-faced tape on the outside too; plus the caulk...

  • @mrjeff4832
    @mrjeff4832 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you have just cut along the other piece of metal and not made a template? It looks like it might fit in the area already outlined by that other piece of metal.

    • @JasonKlunk
      @JasonKlunk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CRL isn't perfect, every window seems to be different. For me it's a sanity check before I cut a hole that's too big in a $30k vehicle.

      @@JasonKlunk Yeah, you're right. I recently bought windows and I'm trying to watch as many videos as I can before I start making the cuts. It's super nerve racking.
