Really though, as an english teacher, I used Oda and one piece as an example of foreshadowing and like half of my class I know for a fact, will NEVER forget how powerful foreshadowing can be, and loved the connection to anime in general.
@@sinaleo2013 Oda is great at what he does and don't think I'm trying to deter you here or anything like that cause it's awesome you use One Piece to teach with. So with that in mind, would the instances where he didn't know something was gonna be "foreshadowing" technically be considered foreshadowing? Would intent of the writer have anything to do with that? Genuine question, you just got me wondering what exactly constitutes "foreshadowing".
I actually like that Oda is jumping from one location to another. This might be the first time we see what's happening outisde of the Strawhat's journey.
One Piece Fans: "So uh Oda what you got for us this week?" Oda: I've been holding 9 new characters for the final war : "One Piece is ending in 3 years!"
My favorite part was seeing Fujitora charge his CO Power Second favorite part was imagining the celestial dragons suffering. Which is an awful thing to think! But it just shows how well they're written as heels!
Don't let the Shanks Shadow figure distract you from the fact that Oda is trying to make a new character similar to him to put off Shanks isn't Evil. When really he is!!!
I mean those shadow characters look a lot like Shanks crew, especially the 2 on the left looking like Bonk Punch with Monster on his shoulders with his tail down, and the lower one looks like it might have Yasopps hair. Could be a great misdirection, which is what I'm kinda hoping for.
Idk what to make of the Holy Knights. It looks like it could be Shanks, but the end scabbard for his sword has an extra piece on it and the handle seems to have an extra piece too above it. It does kinda look like the Red Haired Pirates, except the very tall one has an antenna or hair sticking out so maybe its Lucky Roux with his bandana sticking out of the knot. Go look at the pictures and the tall Knight on the far left looks like Bonk Punch with Monster on his shoulders minus the tail, and the one below that looks like Yasopps hair. It should be noted Oda does alter his original silhouettes a little from their first appearances, and this could be a redirection to clones of all of the emperors of the sea plus Rocks and Rogers or 2 others that Shanks had to possibly overtake like Luffy has done to Big Mom and Kaido. Could also be spies from around the world on top pirate crews/some of the top knights in the world for individual kingdoms. I have a feeling we know who some of them are though. Then again at this point I've been wondering if Oda is using this time to really mess with readers a couple last times, I think one of his favorite things is to make the online community wild with conspiracies just for him to smack us upside the faces with a dose of Oda reality.
Am I the only one who thought Cobra was secretly Imu and was just really good at hiding it from Vivi and everyone else. I mean his family was originally world nobles and "turned it down", what if instead he became Imu.
I was shocked by the ending because it might mean the Five Elders or even IM are the most likely candidates to assassinate Cobra! I always thought it would be an assassin, some character we never met, but the idea it was on of them was surprising to me
braaahther idk if you edited it or maybe your annunciation/articulating is just really good but the CC/Subtitles are on point! literally they were done perfecto without-o uno momento of confusion
Karasu being a soot logia was a nice revelation. I wonder if his fruit is the logia that is above Crocodile's sand logia in the hierarchy of powers like magma being stronger than fire, ice stronger than snow, etc... My initial reaction was to think of the soot fruit being more along the lines of Smoker's power, but I think that the smoke power is probably going to be treated more like the inferior version of Caesar's gas fruit. And the soot particles in this chapter did look a bit sand-ish when Karasu reformed his body. But I could have this completely wrong or backwards. Regardless, very cool devil fruit and the way Karasu uses the power is incredibly unique!
Is soot something like trimmed carbon? I'm not familiar with the word, but the other DF have a superiority relation because they include the later ability while having a higher ceiling + extra abilities. For example, magma not only burns hotter than fire and can also have a tangible form to cause even more damage, it has uses even solidified, and perfectly counters Ice (while fire is tied). Ice can get to lower temperatures than snow while completely freezing opponents instead of making them sleepy. Gas includes smoke but also dominates any other gaslike substance. Don't forget awakened Ope Ope completely coping Rosinante's fruit abilities as well.
One of my favorite things about one piece is how deep we the community take theories and connections. And I'm almost positive half of them are just coincidence on odas part or he only made the 2 things connect so it would make sense like he didn't plan on said connection being as mind blowing as we end up making it. Like with the silhouettes we're all freaking out and oda just wants to draw probably a couple serious looking guys and a couple funny looking guys. Classic one piece energy
Ash and soot are practically the same thing , pretty sure they are synonyms* stand corrected ash and soot are differentiated by color and that ash is made of metallic incombustible material and soot is combustible
Fun zoology fact, corvids are very capable of human speech in fact they have very good memory for sounds and voice recognition as well of being capable of recognizing people that have helped them in the past making them friendly to humans. This also apply the other way so, yes crows can very much hate someone in specific and they will tell other crows about it, never get in a crows bad side.
Lucci seemed troubled by something, is it that Vivi is telling him off, or that he was pissed he was forced to be the Nobles puppet during the Shirahoshi incident?
In chap 434 WB says that his wound starts itching as soon as he sees Shanks face cause he reminds him of "that guy". Could he refer to the holy knight we saw as a Shanks looking silouette? Who knows, Oda ofc :))
The Holy Knights sillouttes really look like the Red Hair Pirates, tbh it thematically makes sence with the roger shanks in a chest post godvalley in which we were told was full of world nobels, and also the big round silloutte in the top right-hand corner is a dead giveaway to me as it looks a lot like Lucky Roux.
anybody else notice that most logia's have some animal theme to them? - Magu Magu no Mi - Dogs & Hounds, specifically Dogs - Hie Hie no Mi - Pheasants, Birds, etc - Susu Susu no Mi (Soot-Soot Fruit) - Crows - Goro Goro no Mi - Dragons huh...not that much, but still surprising
It’s honestly pretty bad situation for Fuji and Greenbull. I think Aokiji or Kizaru if dispatched to the holy land has a better time simply because their powers can be isolated. Fuji and greenbull would struggle as they are more AOE attacks. Still Greenbull shouldn’t have struggled cause of his roots but somehow he did 😭😂
I can't believe that it's been five years since reverie and now we finally got the answer. At that time I just started my university and now I am looking for job.
I really hope the official translation of "God's Knight" isn't "Holy Knights" because that's giving me Seven Deadly Sins flashbacks. I just hear Elizabeth screaming "Meliodas-sama" louder than Orihime screams "Kurosaki-kun."
The holy knights could be the red haired pirates cause the front character looks like shanks and the "swirls" are similar than rhe ones in beckmans coat
What if Nefertari Cobra, Committed Suicide? Because the five elders wanted to gain access to the poneglyph, special hieroglyphs, that lead to the location of Pluton?
I think this chapter could be Oda taking the opportunity to get some annoying fan discourse of his chest. The dialogue between the admirals can be seen as a middle finger to people arguing it's bad writing that the admirals couldn't handle the revolutionary force, and if subsequently the silhouette turns out not to be Shanks or a clone it could be Oda poking fun at the Evil Shanks theory
The admirals still should've been able to deal with the revolutionary with no problem though, we've seen many examples of powerful and potent attacks that don't have an aoe. Akainu managed to take off half of whitebeards head and kill ace without using destructive power.
@@psychosocial2443 Consider this: if the Revolutionaries, which unlike the Yonko crews who were content to just hunker down in their territories, were actually going around actively trying to destabilize the WG, which surely attracted more ire from the WG, then why haven't they been wiped out yet? Just because the Revs haven't been given much screentime until recently doesn't mean that they can't be on par with the Marines strength-wise. Admirals have been introduced and placed on a pedestal for majority of the series' run, it makes sense that they'd finally be knocked down a peg as we close in to the endgame as even more threats are going to be introduced from here on.
@@randot6675 The reason we were given for the admirals not being able to take them out wasn't because the revs were on par with admirals, but because the admirals couldn't go all out at mariejois. Oda made that clear multiple times, the problem is that the explanation doesn't hold up because we've seen many examples of characters being able to control destructive force while still being the same level of threat. In one of the most recent chapters we saw arguably one of the strongest attacks from shanks and it only took out kid and his crew without causing massive destruction.
7:35 dang it. My "A crow ate a Hito Hito no Mi Model: Tengu" theory didn't pan out... Anyway, while we're at the subject of devil fruits, I think what many people dont get about Logia and why there is a debate about, for example, Katakuri's is that Logia powers are "nature-like". So they either bestow elemental powers as we know it or a concept that occurs in nature like the Forest or the Swamp fruit. Mochi is something humanity thought of, that is why it's not a logia fruit. Soot can occur naturally since all you need is a fire for that just like smoke. And as far as I know the "nature-like" attribute of Logias has been true with every canon Logia so far.
Have you guys ever heard of the "Nine Worthies" Here's what wikipedia says about them: The Nine Worthies are nine historical, scriptural, and legendary men of distinction who personify the ideals of chivalry established in the Middle Ages, whose lives were deemed a valuable study for aspirants to chivalric status. All were commonly referred to as 'Princes', regardless of their historical titles. In French they are called "Les Neuf Preux" or "Nine Valiants" The Nine Worthies include three pagans (Hector, Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar), three Jews (Joshua, David and Judas Maccabeus) and three Christians (King Arthur, Charlemagne and Godfrey of Bouillon). I think it suits quite well the thematic of knight, and Godhood, and I wonder if Oda will take inspiration from this.
Okay so this Crow-boy is the first Logia that's awaken? I like the idea of that. I am calling it if none else have. We also know CP0 is CP0 due to there great silhouettes!
One piece is literally just a graphic novel playground for oda. Such a big fan base and longevity. He can create whatever, whenever he wants and bring it back up. So many sub plots. Gets intimidating but hard bot to get invested in.
"in stories when handling wars authors usually focus on the fight battling" Meanwhile me, as having read Kingdom, where a literal arc at its core revolves around a starvation speedrun: pffff
@@randomcatname7792 I don't quite agree with that, because IF it is a twin/clone. Then a silhouette with both arms but no face shown, would not have been as recognizable, as showing that part of the face.
When I first saw the holy knights, my first thought was ‘Shanks!’ ‘Noo!’ But quickly got over that. And then I got worried about Oda introducing that many new characters in the middle of this already overflowing arc.
My only concern is that after facing TWO admirals, dragon says "The REAL fight starts now" which clearly indicates the admirals are clearly losing their credibility in the story.
Yeah he doesn't really see the Admirals as his enemies, he was waiting for the God's Knights to make a move so i'm guessing there would be a Revolutionaries vs God's Knights in the future.
The reverie to me is similar to pre timeskips build up of ace vs blackbeard a secondary story in the background of the main story that eventually comes back to effect the main story
Crows in real live can mimic human speech by pushing air through their beak like an instrument. It’s the same why most birds make noise so that’s likely how the soot crows speak too. That and with kin’Amons fart talking ability being a thing I think it works lol
Shanks being one of the Holy Nights (possibly even the leader) would explain how a Emperor of the Sea so easily got an audience with the 5 elder stars.
Well unofficial contacts can be very useful. Shanks is the only Emperor you can reason with. This makes him a valuable ally in tricky situations. So it can also work the other way around, that the Gorosei listen to him.
lets not forget that shanks just walked in and had a meeting with the elders not that long ago. that also lends so credence to the idea he could be working more than one side and that silhouette could actually be him.
Fujitora: Let me call a metor strike real quick

@@sinaleo2013 Oda is great at what he does and don't think I'm trying to deter you here or anything like that cause it's awesome you use One Piece to teach with. So with that in mind, would the instances where he didn't know something was gonna be "foreshadowing" technically be considered foreshadowing? Would intent of the writer have anything to do with that? Genuine question, you just got me wondering what exactly constitutes "foreshadowing".
yes, especially the story behind government and beginning of time, and lastly what was, and what is. Beautiful stuff
Sure man.😑
@@darthmalagus retroactive foreshadowing might be a thing from now on
In that picture in the newspaper, it looks like sabo is defending cobra. The gorosei must have attacked him and sabo stepped in to save his life
I actually like that Oda is jumping from one location to another. This might be the first time we see what's happening outisde of the Strawhat's journey.
One Piece Fans: "So uh Oda what you got for us this week?"
Oda: I've been holding 9 new characters for the final war : "One Piece is ending in 3 years!"
10 yrs atleast lol
Karasu seems to be all about Power scaling. He deserves Jack's bounty if he gets an updated one because of this chapter.
My favorite part was seeing Fujitora charge his CO Power
Second favorite part was imagining the celestial dragons suffering.
7:46 That murcrow in the back is out to get all the competitive pokemon players in op verse
Damn!!
That's an interesting idea. Idk if I'm fully in, but I do feel like we know who Imu is or have seen them before somewhere.
Remember when we used to wait for "MONDAY" to hear GLR review the Latest chapter? Thats how good Egghead is!
Or how soul less he has become
@@babrad Soot is specifically a collection of the black and powder-like particles of carbon left over from incomplete combustion of organic matter.
Age of Empires 1 at min 2:48 amazing u showed the original. Got me super nostalgic seeing it after so many years man ur amazing
There is a little part of me that wonders if Oda sometimes reads our theories and is like "damn, I like that so I'll use if here."
Your Shank-shaped silhouette rendition had a left arm. Which gave it a definite evil clone vibe.
I just liked how in the translation that i read Morley straight up looks at Greenbull and just goes, "ew, why is this boy so angry all the time?" lol
I’d imagine all Logia can speak in their element forms, Karasu is just shaping the soot like a crow.
Still waiting for an Ash Logia
Ash and soot are practically the same thing , pretty sure they are synonyms* stand corrected ash and soot are differentiated by color and that ash is made of metallic incombustible material and soot is combustible
Fun zoology fact, corvids are very capable of human speech in fact they have very good memory for sounds and voice recognition as well of being capable of recognizing people that have helped them in the past making them friendly to humans. This also apply the other way so, yes crows can very much hate someone in specific and they will tell other crows about it, never get in a crows bad side.
There’s actually a 10th Holy Knight silhouette. His head is visible in the crease of the double speech bubble.
I am so glad that Robin's brother got a promotion. He really deserved it. The whole family is doing great.
Lucci seemed troubled by something, is it that Vivi is telling him off, or that he was pissed he was forced to be the Nobles puppet during the Shirahoshi incident?
I think he feels personally attacked.
He was just doing his job.
Maybe he'll do the right thing after all and help Vivi escape.
I noticed that as well. That is a good question.
In chap 434 WB says that his wound starts itching as soon as he sees Shanks face cause he reminds him of "that guy".
Could he refer to the holy knight we saw as a Shanks looking silouette?
Who knows, Oda ofc :))
It would make so much sense if Shanks was part of the holy knights and it would make sense as to why Shanks can just walk in and talk to the 5 elders
I'm currently taking a poop, never a better time for a one piece video
I’m excited to see how Wapol ends up with Vivi at Morgan’s hideout. Gotta see how that bunglenut gets munchin’
Same, I thought I was the only one who was confused by Wapol.
- Magu Magu no Mi - Dogs & Hounds, specifically Dogs
- Hie Hie no Mi - Pheasants, Birds, etc
- Susu Susu no Mi (Soot-Soot Fruit) - Crows
- Goro Goro no Mi - Dragons
huh...not that much, but still surprising
It’s honestly pretty bad situation for Fuji and Greenbull. I think Aokiji or Kizaru if dispatched to the holy land has a better time simply because their powers can be isolated. Fuji and greenbull would struggle as they are more AOE attacks. Still Greenbull shouldn’t have struggled cause of his roots but somehow he did 😭😂
That's a great point, that is a very similar feeling to Captain Sisko's I can live with it speech!
That's actually awesome that Karisu is a logia user, that explains things easier. I can sleep well tonight knowing the answer to that mystery finally
0:00 bro holy crap has it really been 5yrs since the battle on Mariejois debuted?!
9:55
Kuma in timbs was something I never thought I needed to see, haha!
What if Nefertari Cobra, Committed Suicide? Because the five elders wanted to gain access to the poneglyph, special hieroglyphs, that lead to the location of Pluton?
Bro was literally going to ask Gorosei about pone glyph himself
No wonder dude's dead
In the pale moonlight - one of the best Star Trek episodes ever
Soot (or volcanic ash) can generate static electricity when rubbing together.
This is probably the explanation for the soot telephone.
daymn thanks for them facts!
Holy crap 4:34 with the shaking and sh*ting bricks…I was CRYING 🤣
A proper ending at last. Usually every videos are cut mid sentence or even mid word. I always found that funny.
One Piece Red entire plot was literally to answer to the Evil Shanks theory
I found it suprising how green bull talked to a celestial dragon angry. And not as a human toilet
Dragon: What do you say about this newspaper?
Sabo: IT'S A FAAAAAAAAKEEEEE~
Have you guys ever heard of the "Nine Worthies" Here's what wikipedia says about them:
The Nine Worthies are nine historical, scriptural, and legendary men of distinction who personify the ideals of chivalry established in the Middle Ages, whose lives were deemed a valuable study for aspirants to chivalric status. All were commonly referred to as 'Princes', regardless of their historical titles. In French they are called "Les Neuf Preux" or "Nine Valiants"
The Nine Worthies include three pagans (Hector, Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar), three Jews (Joshua, David and Judas Maccabeus) and three Christians (King Arthur, Charlemagne and Godfrey of Bouillon).
I think it suits quite well the thematic of knight, and Godhood, and I wonder if Oda will take inspiration from this.
Nice
Nice shout out to DS9, and nice to see the other former agents of CP9.
What if this Holy Knight is Cavandish, Hakuba version of Cavendish is a Holy Knight, thatswhy he was so strong.
There is a part of me that thinks that ability will play a part again.
@@Someaddress555s this part is still a huge mystery. And Cavendish as a character to. Let's wait and see.
Ohh shit! You are right. Damn why didn't I think about him hakuba.
"in stories when handling wars authors usually focus on the fight battling"
Meanwhile me, as having read Kingdom, where a literal arc at its core revolves around a starvation speedrun: pffff
With Shanks having family ties to the world nobles the silhouette could be a family relation like a cousin or something of the likes.
Ace: "Okay Sabo, what about you? What's your dream?"
Sabo: "Two admirals at the saaaame time."
I think Shanks has a twin/clone, because when "Shanks" visited the Gorosei, Oda chose to hide his most recognizable feature, his scar.
Well his *most* recognizable feature is the lack of an arm, but that's a close second
"You can pluck us back to this point in 2018..."
Me with a Gandalph beard: It's been that long what!?
My only concern is that after facing TWO admirals, dragon says "The REAL fight starts now" which clearly indicates the admirals are clearly losing their credibility in the story.
Yeah he doesn't really see the Admirals as his enemies, he was waiting for the God's Knights to make a move so i'm guessing there would be a Revolutionaries vs God's Knights in the future.
Best way to describe this chapter is organized chaos.
The reverie to me is similar to pre timeskips build up of ace vs blackbeard a secondary story in the background of the main story that eventually comes back to effect the main story
To be fair, Kingdom deals with the resource management of war all the time. Then again, Kingdom is considered seinen and not shonen.
Crows in real live can mimic human speech by pushing air through their beak like an instrument. It’s the same why most birds make noise so that’s likely how the soot crows speak too. That and with kin’Amons fart talking ability being a thing I think it works lol
Not 1083, but what were your thoughts on Sanji vs Queen in the anime
5:47 Perhaps the Shanks we know is a clone of a God Knight, but gone rogue. 🤔🧐
I can't believe that dude survived our first encounter with chopper monster point. I mean he launched that dude halfway across ennis lobby lol
Vivi being super savage in this chapter. Vivi Rocks Lucci Shocks😂😂
The continuation of this chapter should give us the names of all five Elders, can't wait!
