That panel where the Celestial Dragons are yelling at Sakazuki for failing to capture Kuma, followed by Sakazuki saying “you’re nothing but a puppet” to Kuma says a lot. I think you can interpret that as Sakazuki saying that to himself in a way.
I can’t believe that 1 year ago, I was expecting Egghead to just be a small filler arc to take a breather after Wano. Now Luffy is fighting an admiral, Akainu is fighting for the first time since Marineford, Garp got turned into an ice cube, the Gorosei are actually doing something besides sitting in their little office. That’s what I was thinking too. Luffy becomes a giant and thus the robot is activated. There’s a giant straw hat in Imu’s lair, and straw hats are going to elbaf, home of the giants and possible home of the previous joyboy where they can learn more about him
My theory is Kuma used his fruit to swap the "soul" of himself and the giant robot. When Luffy told the robot to wake up, Kuma suddenly started moving towards the red line, exactly what the robot did the last time it woke up. The robots eyes lighting up now are because the robot was actually killed inside Kuma's body.
I love the parallel of Akainu calling Kuma a puppet without principles while he himself has lost all of his own principles and became just a puppet. A bit of projection going on there.
These last couple chapters really illustrate why Harp refused to become an admiral. It feels like every admiral hates every mission they have to go on. It's the opposite of freedom and personal will.

Can we talk about how much Kizaru seemed upset over having to destroy his friend's dreams and take his life? Previous chapter he was already doing a frouny face over having to kick Sentomaru's ass and now he not only destroyed the "robot of dreams" that Vega was so happy about, but he genuinely sounded upset over having to end his friend's life (which would normally be an expected reaction out of someone, but not so much out of Kizaru out of all people).
Yeah Kizaru even stated a couple of times that he hates what he has to do but he has to being a Marine admiral. He even stated he doesn't want to kill Vegapunk despite being ordered to do so

The most interesting story thread for me is Kuma-Bonny-Sakazuki. We've been getting character development for Kuzan and Borsalino this arc, so I'm intrigued to see Sakazuki gain some depth.

When learning that the Giant Robot began to activate the moment Luffy used Gear 5th, it reminded me of other series involving giant robots where supernatural phenomenons happen during the time of their introductions. Now I wonder if Oda intends to use that trope however he can.

You noted something interesting. It wouldn't be far-fetched to theorize that Kuma is headed to Egghead. He can't get there at first because he's kept at Kamabaka kingdom, so the only logical way to make it to an island in the new world is to climb the red line first and blast yourself from the top of it.

What if Bonneys crew is vassal esque. Sworn and loyal to her father, and now protecting her in his stead. Kizaru's comment about her height growing quickly adds some more power to the theory she's still a child.
5:33 It would be majorly inconvenient for Zoro to meet up with the Strawhats had Kuraigana been located in the New World as that would mean Zoro having to reach Reverse Mountain in the Grandline since there is pretty much no chance he arrived at Sabaody through Fishman Island.
If there is one character that would be capable of somehow finding his way from the new world back to sabaody without going via reverse mountain or fishman island it's probably Zorro. Though it would be entirely by accident of course
Kuraigana is either on South Blue or bellow the Ennies Lobby (personal opinion) .When they were diving on their way to fishman, Zoro said he had already seen that. We all though it was due to the Fox Pirates accident, but at the time some speculated that Zoro came from Wano and recalled when he migrated to East Blue.

All the other gears have lost their drawbacks. Gear 3 no longer shrinks, it’s never stated but it’s pretty implied that Gear 2 no longer takes lifespan ever since the timeskip, and Gear 4’s drawbacks became less and less with every use until this chapter where instantly after using it he grabbed Kizaru.
And his drawbacks on gear 5 seems to only make him tired but since Luffy enjoy fighting in gear 5 i believe that drawback will soon be gone because having drawbacks is going against his wishes to be free and fight free
I know everyone was excited to see Luffy vs Kizaru but the stuff with Kuma was waaaaay more interesting in this chapter, IMO. And Kuma's totally going to Egghead! Prediction: The giant robot will launch the Sunny towards Elbaf. Or it will be Kuma using his fruit before he dies.
On the one hand, it IS cool that Luffy doesn't just abandon and disregard the previous Gears for all fights now that he's unlocked Gear 5, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder why he doesn't just immediately go into Gear 5 when up against Kizaru. Probably would have saved him time, and the VegaForce-01 probably wouldn't have gotten destroyed in the process... then again, it gives us an excuse to see that ancient robot get revitalized and see it in action, so yeah, I suppose that's an even trade. A shame that Vegapunk's dream robot got destroyed, though, it hurts to see their hard work go up in smoke... Also, is it just me, or does this chapter really emphasize the fact that Kizaru doesn't like what he's doing and that he's "just following orders"? I can't help but feel like an eventual confrontation with this notion will happen with Kizaru, like Luffy or someone is going to ask if he likes Vegapunk and is friends with him, why is following orders so important to him anyway. Perhaps this is a chance to get some genuine insight as to what makes this sharply-dressed yellow man ticks...
Probably to gauge how strong Kizaru is and how much stronger Luffy himself is now. Gear 2nd and 3rd didn't work on Kizaru pre-time skip. He's probably like "Imma start with Gear 4th then!"
I think it's like Goku's SSJ forms. He can trun ssj blue and make quick work of many strong enemies but he uses lesser ssj forms first because he ENJOYS a challenge, a thougher fight and also gauging his opponent's abilities.

Kuzan was first, and deserted entirely, Fujitora chose his path during Dressrosa, but you are right, we are seeing cracks here with Akainu's tension and Kizaru (who low-key hates that he needs to fight old friends). The whole red line being too tall was my assumption when Kuma smashed into it. I think Oda really wants the reader to be thinking about how massive the red line is What I've been enjoying about egghead is it's been non stop forward momentum, we are heading somewhere very fast and I don't know what and that's when this series is at it's best imo
When kuma blips away he may have been trying to go to egghead, but due to his injuries, his trajectory could have been staggered and sent to elbaf. That way Bonnie could safely reunite with her father in his final moments.

About the Eyepopping, in Kaidos defence, he was probably still a little bit drunk, which makes him physically stronger and more dangerous, but takes every kind of composure away. And in Kizarus defence, he is probably high, which makes him slower (thanks to his df people don't notice that) and it makes him more indifferent, which helps him to keep his composure, unless something is really funny. 😂
I know Oda's trying to wrap it up and a lot of these points are great, but I hope it's not an overload of greatness leading to fatigue. Those inbetween beats are very necessary, and I hope we get a chance to breathe in Elbaf.

I just read the chapter. And this dropped a minute later. I believe kuma is doing all this through sheer will ,assuming he is going to go egghead. Also the robot, is probably awakened from joyboys heartbeat. Sort of like a voice recognition for an heartbeat.
My guess is that Luffy fighting against Kizaru is filling him with joy, It's a struggle which he loves so his heart beat is louder (Especially after what happened at Sabaody) The fight against rob lucci, Luffy was just playing around with a literal cat because he knew he was stronger and showing off his new moves. Less fun but more believable, Luffy was knocked down pass the barrier in Gear 5. I believe this is closer to the Giant robot so it could be a range thing. Toon force only effects the faces of people who are close to Luffy.
I think you may be right about Kizaru being briefed on Luffy’s Gear 5 powers. I think that fact was hinted by him mentioning Luffy beating Kaido. The WG made it seem that Luffy, Law and Kid beat Kaido and Big Mom 3 v. 2, so they could make Luffy seem less of a threat, hence why the Gorosei were mad the Gear 5 pic was published.
I hope akainu kicks off the revolution in Marygiose. With how everyone else has seemingly grown as people in post timeskip (save for kizaru but i think hes about to have his own training arc by way of g5) it would be SO SICK to see the switch up

It honestly doesn't need to be either of those studios. Toei's already proven it can put out high quality episodes when they want to. If they would go so far as to collaborate with other, much smaller studios, they'd be better off paying their staff more and taking their time with the episodes

Explains Bonnie's bubbliness; she found and released papa bear's soul and expects him to return to her now. And if his soul was just returned that explains why Kuma goes on a rampage. What if the person that Vegapunk was calling for help was not Stussy but Kuma? Kuma was at Momoiro Island (new home of RA) in 1st half of Grand Line, and Egghead is in New World. As the red line is too tall to fly over even with Kuma's powers, he had to climb up the red line instead and then fly from there towards Egghead. The higher the starting point, the further he can fly to.
I don't think Bonney was acting weird a few chapters back, I think this was people reading too much into it. To me, it felt that she was happy because she learned the truth about what happened between Stella and Kuma and why Kuma became a robot. If the robot reacted to Luffy being a giant does this mean that Joyboy was a giant too? Is that why Luffy's heartbeat affected the robot.
I have a feeling that given how good Sakazuki is at turning people against others he could be why the Freedom Fighters the precursor to the Revolutionary Army disbanded and why him & Dragon have history

I think the reason why luffy wouldn’t instantly go to gear 5 it’s because it’s a sort of training having challenging battles while restraining him self allowing him to improve his haki even further after every battle

There was a theory on Reddit that suggests Kuma may have switched consciousness with the giant robot, which explains why when earlier Luffy commanded the robot to wake up, we see Kuma instead waking up and climbing the redline into Mariejois, mimicking what the robot did 200 years ago, and now that Luffy transformed into G5, his heartbeat was heard by the robot and now it wakes up. The five elders specifically said that the fruit hadn’t awakened in over 800 years Saint Jupiter was the one to save us a few chapters ago, not to say that the elders might have missed Anika awakening, but what I think caused the giant to weaken is not the drums of liberation, but the sun pouring into the island and the robot, having some kind of solar panel.
I believe the giant isn't powered/awakened by gear 5 for three reasons: 1) it seems like a Oda thing to trick us. 2) 200 years ago he climbed the red line. that would mean 200 years ago someone awakened the Nika fruit. but I think it was said, that the fruit wasn't awakened in the last 800 years + joyboys return wouldn't be such a big thing for zunesha. 3) why didn't it awaken during Luffy vs lucci? maybe that's where the blackbeard pirates are.
Honestly i have my doubts that it was g5 as well. I feel like it's somehow related to Kuma. It's the same type of story telling as when we had a flashback to Garp saying to leave old guy behind, just for the ch to end with him staying behind. This ch started with a flashback with Kuma attacking Mary Geoise and ended with the robot being awakened.
If Gear 5 actually is what animated the Iron Giant, it's possible the guy who awakened the Nika Fruit 200 years ago just died very soon after. Since the Giant did power down before it could successfully do whatever it was gonna do.

It was like Goku vs Jiren for the first time. He was just testing to see how much he needed to keep up or what could hurt him with his powers so he could take him on. You don't go 100% and believe that you simply can overpower opponents alone and win.
Now that Luffy can go gear five, he might be able to use lower gears without as much of a drawback or if any at all. Because an awakened double forgive the user better control over their power.
He’s been able to, gear 2 and 3 have no drawbacks since the timeskip and gear 4 had no haki drawbacks in wano we saw him shifting in and out of gear 4 effortlessly. Idk what GLR is smoking gear 5 is the ONLY gear with a drawback atm
On a side note, if there is an Iron Giant about to attack Marie Jois then is it possible Oda gives a nod to Godzilla and giant monster movies in that attack? "Will Luffy be imaginative enough to use the giant robot?" Luffy is a kid in a teenagers body, he's going to be way too excited to have a giant robot and act like Oars who didn't know his own strength when Luffys shadow was installed onto him.
I think that eventual Akainu will get fed up with the celestial dragons' complaining that he'll lose his temper and hurt one. Then he will have to run away and try to find away to gain their favor again perhaps by hunting down Dragon, during their fight we would get to see how powerful Dragon is and whether or not he has weather powers.

Have we ever heard Akainu's opinion on Dragon and the Revolutionaries? Maybe we did and I just don't remember, but his disdain seems to be only for Pirates and people who get in the way. He uses absolute justice because he wants to make sure the rules the world government creates are followed, yet he openly hates the Celestial Dragons. Akainu is such an interesting character I wanna see so much of him

Heck if not for the funds given to them by the World Government he may have already declared war against them. Maybe Joy Boy was a giant, given the size of the strawhat that Imu has. So if the Robot is waiting for Joy boy specifically, then maybe it's not the volume of Luffy's heartbeat that mattered but rather his resemblance to his predecessor that mattered. He big right now.
I think that Mihawk's island is in the first part of the Grand Line for the only reason that is the fact that Perona arrived to Blackbeard's island after Koby is captured when clearly she left Mihawk's island long ago now. Also Zoro had to return to Sabaody without traversing the Grand Line. Also in retrospect it makes the Don Krieg pirates meeting Mihawk and being defeated by him more easier to accept

When you think about it it does makes sense because old man Rayleigh did the same thing to gear 4 luffy and as we know rayleigh and kizaru were fighting on par with each other on sabaody so I’d imagine gear 4 wouldn’t be enough for kizaru but luffy probably knows that and is testing kizaru otherwise he would have opened the fight with gear 5
7:00 luffy rarely ever goes all out at first contact, why bother showing all the cards that you have when you don't know you're opponent's ones? luffy opted to snake man, a fast version of him to counter kizaru's speed, and when overwhelmed and shown how much of a threat kizaru is, he opted for G5. remember, although he jumps through gears, they still take a toll on him, so he has to use everything efficiently, but at times he can go crazy and destroy an island's supply of food right after.
Hindsight 20/20 the World Nobles should've expected this. Remember Sengoku wanted Kuzan as Fleet Admiral but it was the 5 Elder Stars (who are also World Nobles) that wanted Sakazuki and look where it's gotten them now.
I don’t think it has been awakened since the void century. I think someone was trying to replicate Joyboy’s drums cause they knew it was a power source like maybe the WG. They seemed really interested in this so called Mother Flame. Maybe that’s the reason the Iron Giant attacked Mariejoa in the first place, it was trying to find the source of the drums to get orders from what it thought was Joyboy.
Luffy will ask Kizaru "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world" and before the monkey admiral can respond the monkey pirate will scream the idiot song into his ear and maybe slightly annoy the monkey man with his own monkey business.
Tbh Kizaru's fight and fighting style with Luffy makes sense. He's a light man, he can zip around from target to target with absurd speed. Plus his main target is Vegapunk so it's logical he'd try and get Luffy out of the way and blitz VP

Light boy keeps talking about the fact he doesn’t wanna hurt his old friends; I think Luffy will at the very least make Kizaru think about his allegiances a little by simply asking him “why do something you don’t want to do?”.
We are in peak insanity mode right now. If anything, I'm more concerned about the things that aren't being currently addressed. We have one Blackbeard ship unaccounted for which neither the Marines nor Vegapunk have mentioned, maybe Zoro vs Lucci, the memory paw thing Bonney saw, maybe another Amogus moment with Devon this time, or some other crazy plot thread that we haven't seen yet. Maybe instead of Devon and whoever is with her imitating someone, imagine they were there to infiltrate Egghead to steal the Seraphim and an authority chip.
There is a big advantage in using Gear 4th over Gear 5th, which is being able to retain focus and seriousness. Gear 5th makes Luffy careless, and while that isn't necessarily a problem in a straight fight since it's offset by the powers he gains, it's a problem for other things, such as keeping Kizaru occupied. In Gear 5th Luffy's a lot more likely to get distracted and let Kizaru slip by him.
It would be fun to see Luffy not understanding what this giant robot is and just dressing it like a huge armor that specifically awakened for his giant form (we know how much Luffy loves cosplaying)
As long as Oda has to spend time on the live action series, I don't think we'll be having a weekly release on the manga again any time soon. Fun fact there was an experiment done in the real world where some weighed recently deceased and saw the eight decrease by 21grams. Oda was referencing that by using that same weight and also claiming that it’s the weight of the soul as the scientist in our world hypothesised it was.

Yes the guy had an idea that the soul may weigh something, when classically it would be immaterial and, hence, weightless. I think the robot woke up because Laffy said he was thrown "down there". I think he got tossed all the way down to the junk yard and hit gear fifth there to get back up. That proximity woke it up. Before he was a ways away when he fought lucci.
Kuma’s soul is stored in the giant robot on egg head and the robot is in him which is why kumas body woke up when joy boy spoke to it and is continuing the robots mission to attack the celestial dragons. The giant robot is has been re-awakened (with kumas soul inside) and will allow the straw hats to escape.
If I recall correctly oda said that the draw back for luffy using gear 2 was removed after the time skip. And obviously it was remove with gear 3 the downside is gone since he doesn't shrink anymore, and 4 seems to be getting longer time length wise. 5 turns him into an old man at the end for some reason but it does seem like it is objectively the best form now.

It's weird to see how fast luffy is using gear fourth, he used it almost immediately against the seraphim and kizaru when it's usually built up to, I think it's reasonable to believe that luffys advanced haki or gear fifth has removed the 10 minute long weakness
A joyboy couldn't have appeared 200yrs ago because the promised day was 800yrs to the future and when Roger and Oden found laugh tale they realized that they were 20yrs to early and someone of great importance would come at that time (joyboy) which is why Oden wanted to open the border of wano before the promised day.
That panel where the Celestial Dragons are yelling at Sakazuki for failing to capture Kuma, followed by Sakazuki saying “you’re nothing but a puppet” to Kuma says a lot. I think you can interpret that as Sakazuki saying that to himself in a way.

I can’t believe that 1 year ago, I was expecting Egghead to just be a small filler arc to take a breather after Wano. Now Luffy is fighting an admiral, Akainu is fighting for the first time since Marineford, Garp got turned into an ice cube, the Gorosei are actually doing something besides sitting in their little office.

My theory is Kuma used his fruit to swap the "soul" of himself and the giant robot. When Luffy told the robot to wake up, Kuma suddenly started moving towards the red line, exactly what the robot did the last time it woke up. The robots eyes lighting up now are because the robot was actually killed inside Kuma's body.

Honestly, rereading Whole Cake and then Wano is quite a ride. Going from a dark Wonderland where everything is food themed and made of food, to a wasteland bereft of food, it's a very distinct difference.

Can we talk about how much Kizaru seemed upset over having to destroy his friend's dreams and take his life? Previous chapter he was already doing a frouny face over having to kick Sentomaru's ass and now he not only destroyed the "robot of dreams" that Vega was so happy about, but he genuinely sounded upset over having to end his friend's life (which would normally be an expected reaction out of someone, but not so much out of Kizaru out of all people).
Yeah Kizaru even stated a couple of times that he hates what he has to do but he has to being a Marine admiral. He even stated he doesn't want to kill Vegapunk despite being ordered to do so

The most interesting story thread for me is Kuma-Bonny-Sakazuki. We've been getting character development for Kuzan and Borsalino this arc, so I'm intrigued to see Sakazuki gain some depth.
Sakazuki for me was like a mindless killing machine,but after this chapter i think he feel bad for what happened to kuma and bonney.

You noted something interesting. It wouldn't be far-fetched to theorize that Kuma is headed to Egghead. He can't get there at first because he's kept at Kamabaka kingdom, so the only logical way to make it to an island in the new world is to climb the red line first and blast yourself from the top of it.

What if Bonneys crew is vassal esque. Sworn and loyal to her father, and now protecting her in his stead. Kizaru's comment about her height growing quickly adds some more power to the theory she's still a child.

It would be majorly inconvenient for Zoro to meet up with the Strawhats had Kuraigana been located in the New World as that would mean Zoro having to reach Reverse Mountain in the Grandline since there is pretty much no chance he arrived at Sabaody through Fishman Island.
If there is one character that would be capable of somehow finding his way from the new world back to sabaody without going via reverse mountain or fishman island it's probably Zorro. Though it would be entirely by accident of course
Kuraigana is either on South Blue or bellow the Ennies Lobby (personal opinion) .When they were diving on their way to fishman, Zoro said he had already seen that. We all though it was due to the Fox Pirates accident, but at the time some speculated that Zoro came from Wano and recalled when he migrated to East Blue.

All the other gears have lost their drawbacks. Gear 3 no longer shrinks, it’s never stated but it’s pretty implied that Gear 2 no longer takes lifespan ever since the timeskip, and Gear 4’s drawbacks became less and less with every use until this chapter where instantly after using it he grabbed Kizaru.

On the one hand, it IS cool that Luffy doesn't just abandon and disregard the previous Gears for all fights now that he's unlocked Gear 5, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder why he doesn't just immediately go into Gear 5 when up against Kizaru. Probably would have saved him time, and the VegaForce-01 probably wouldn't have gotten destroyed in the process... then again, it gives us an excuse to see that ancient robot get revitalized and see it in action, so yeah, I suppose that's an even trade. A shame that Vegapunk's dream robot got destroyed, though, it hurts to see their hard work go up in smoke...
Also, is it just me, or does this chapter really emphasize the fact that Kizaru doesn't like what he's doing and that he's "just following orders"? I can't help but feel like an eventual confrontation with this notion will happen with Kizaru, like Luffy or someone is going to ask if he likes Vegapunk and is friends with him, why is following orders so important to him anyway. Perhaps this is a chance to get some genuine insight as to what makes this sharply-dressed yellow man ticks...

I think it's like Goku's SSJ forms. He can trun ssj blue and make quick work of many strong enemies but he uses lesser ssj forms first because he ENJOYS a challenge, a thougher fight and also gauging his opponent's abilities.

What I've been enjoying about egghead is it's been non stop forward momentum, we are heading somewhere very fast and I don't know what and that's when this series is at it's best imo
When kuma blips away he may have been trying to go to egghead, but due to his injuries, his trajectory could have been staggered and sent to elbaf. That way Bonnie could safely reunite with her father in his final moments.

About the Eyepopping, in Kaidos defence, he was probably still a little bit drunk, which makes him physically stronger and more dangerous, but takes every kind of composure away. And in Kizarus defence, he is probably high, which makes him slower (thanks to his df people don't notice that) and it makes him more indifferent, which helps him to keep his composure, unless something is really funny. 😂

My guess is that Luffy fighting against Kizaru is filling him with joy, It's a struggle which he loves so his heart beat is louder (Especially after what happened at Sabaody) The fight against rob lucci, Luffy was just playing around with a literal cat because he knew he was stronger and showing off his new moves.
Less fun but more believable, Luffy was knocked down pass the barrier in Gear 5. I believe this is closer to the Giant robot so it could be a range thing. Toon force only effects the faces of people who are close to Luffy.
I think you may be right about Kizaru being briefed on Luffy’s Gear 5 powers. I think that fact was hinted by him mentioning Luffy beating Kaido. The WG made it seem that Luffy, Law and Kid beat Kaido and Big Mom 3 v. 2, so they could make Luffy seem less of a threat, hence why the Gorosei were mad the Gear 5 pic was published.
I hope akainu kicks off the revolution in Marygiose. With how everyone else has seemingly grown as people in post timeskip (save for kizaru but i think hes about to have his own training arc by way of g5) it would be SO SICK to see the switch up

It honestly doesn't need to be either of those studios. Toei's already proven it can put out high quality episodes when they want to. If they would go so far as to collaborate with other, much smaller studios, they'd be better off paying their staff more and taking their time with the episodes

What if the giant bubble Bonnie found was Kuma's soul, which he had been slowly extracting for Vegapunk? We know Kuma's fruit even affects concepts, like pain. That's why punk needed Kuma as the base for all the Pacifista research.
Explains why he becomes more and more robotic. Explains Bonnie's bubbliness; she found and released papa bear's soul and expects him to return to her now. And if his soul was just returned that explains why Kuma goes on a rampage.

What if the person that Vegapunk was calling for help was not Stussy but Kuma? Kuma was at Momoiro Island (new home of RA) in 1st half of Grand Line, and Egghead is in New World. As the red line is too tall to fly over even with Kuma's powers, he had to climb up the red line instead and then fly from there towards Egghead. The higher the starting point, the further he can fly to.
I don't think Bonney was acting weird a few chapters back, I think this was people reading too much into it. To me, it felt that she was happy because she learned the truth about what happened between Stella and Kuma and why Kuma became a robot.

I just realized that Zoro went off to fight Lucci alone and I have no idea how he will be able to find his way back to the group once he wins... he may end up running into the awakened robot by mistake trying to find his way back
I want Luffy to find a bucket of black paint, paint a hole in the wall, throw somebody through the hole, and then wipe the hole away like it was never there.
I think the reason why luffy wouldn’t instantly go to gear 5 it’s because it’s a sort of training having challenging battles while restraining him self allowing him to improve his haki even further after every battle

And using basic haki for 2m is no training.

There was a theory on Reddit that suggests Kuma may have switched consciousness with the giant robot, which explains why when earlier Luffy commanded the robot to wake up, we see Kuma instead waking up and climbing the redline into Mariejois, mimicking what the robot did 200 years ago, and now that Luffy transformed into G5, his heartbeat was heard by the robot and now it wakes up.

The five elders specifically said that the fruit hadn’t awakened in over 800 years Saint Jupiter was the one to save us a few chapters ago, not to say that the elders might have missed Anika awakening, but what I think caused the giant to weaken is not the drums of liberation, but the sun pouring into the island and the robot, having some kind of solar panel.
I believe the giant isn't powered/awakened by gear 5 for three reasons: 1) it seems like a Oda thing to trick us. 2) 200 years ago he climbed the red line. that would mean 200 years ago someone awakened the Nika fruit. but I think it was said, that the fruit wasn't awakened in the last 800 years + joyboys return wouldn't be such a big thing for zunesha. 3) why didn't it awaken during Luffy vs lucci? maybe that's where the blackbeard pirates are.
Honestly i have my doubts that it was g5 as well. I feel like it's somehow related to Kuma. It's the same type of story telling as when we had a flashback to Garp saying to leave old guy behind, just for the ch to end with him staying behind. This ch started with a flashback with Kuma attacking Mary Geoise and ended with the robot being awakened.
If Gear 5 actually is what animated the Iron Giant, it's possible the guy who awakened the Nika Fruit 200 years ago just died very soon after. Since the Giant did power down before it could successfully do whatever it was gonna do.
Maybe that's why they want the Mother Flame? It's possible they used that as a replacement for Joy Boy's heartbeat.

It was like Goku vs Jiren for the first time. He was just testing to see how much he needed to keep up or what could hurt him with his powers so he could take him on. You don't go 100% and believe that you simply can overpower opponents alone and win.
Now that Luffy can go gear five, he might be able to use lower gears without as much of a drawback or if any at all. Because an awakened double forgive the user better control over their power.
He’s been able to, gear 2 and 3 have no drawbacks since the timeskip and gear 4 had no haki drawbacks in wano we saw him shifting in and out of gear 4 effortlessly. Idk what GLR is smoking gear 5 is the ONLY gear with a drawback atm

"Will Luffy be imaginative enough to use the giant robot?" Luffy is a kid in a teenagers body, he's going to be way too excited to have a giant robot and act like Oars who didn't know his own strength when Luffys shadow was installed onto him.
I think that eventual Akainu will get fed up with the celestial dragons' complaining that he'll lose his temper and hurt one. Then he will have to run away and try to find away to gain their favor again perhaps by hunting down Dragon, during their fight we would get to see how powerful Dragon is and whether or not he has weather powers.
Not likely, if he does hurt one by accident he will not try to regain their favour. Cause you gotta realise, he tolerates the World Government not support them.
Have we ever heard Akainu's opinion on Dragon and the Revolutionaries? Maybe we did and I just don't remember, but his disdain seems to be only for Pirates and people who get in the way. He uses absolute justice because he wants to make sure the rules the world government creates are followed, yet he openly hates the Celestial Dragons. Akainu is such an interesting character I wanna see so much of him

Heck if not for the funds given to them by the World Government he may have already declared war against them. He thinks the World Government is good because of the laws and everything, but the moment the World Government does something that completely goes against his ideals of justice bou let me tell you, he would immediately attack them with the full force of the marines.

I think that Mihawk's island is in the first part of the Grand Line for the only reason that is the fact that Perona arrived to Blackbeard's island after Koby is captured when clearly she left Mihawk's island long ago now. Also Zoro had to return to Sabaody without traversing the Grand Line. Also in retrospect it makes the Don Krieg pirates meeting Mihawk and being defeated by him more easier to accept

When you think about it it does makes sense because old man Rayleigh did the same thing to gear 4 luffy and as we know rayleigh and kizaru were fighting on par with each other on sabaody so I’d imagine gear 4 wouldn’t be enough for kizaru but luffy probably knows that and is testing kizaru otherwise he would have opened the fight with gear 5

luffy opted to snake man, a fast version of him to counter kizaru's speed, and when overwhelmed and shown how much of a threat kizaru is, he opted for G5.
remember, although he jumps through gears, they still take a toll on him, so he has to use everything efficiently, but at times he can go crazy and destroy an island's supply of food right after.

Hindsight 20/20 the World Nobles should've expected this. Remember Sengoku wanted Kuzan as Fleet Admiral but it was the 5 Elder Stars (who are also World Nobles) that wanted Sakazuki and look where it's gotten them now.

I don’t think it has been awakened since the void century. I think someone was trying to replicate Joyboy’s drums cause they knew it was a power source like maybe the WG. They seemed really interested in this so called Mother Flame. Maybe that’s the reason the Iron Giant attacked Mariejoa in the first place, it was trying to find the source of the drums to get orders from what it thought was Joyboy.

Tbh Kizaru's fight and fighting style with Luffy makes sense. He's a light man, he can zip around from target to target with absurd speed. Plus his main target is Vegapunk so it's logical he'd try and get Luffy out of the way and blitz VP

Light boy keeps talking about the fact he doesn’t wanna hurt his old friends; I think Luffy will at the very least make Kizaru think about his allegiances a little by simply asking him “why do something you don’t want to do?”.
We are in peak insanity mode right now. If anything, I'm more concerned about the things that aren't being currently addressed. We have one Blackbeard ship unaccounted for which neither the Marines nor Vegapunk have mentioned, maybe Zoro vs Lucci, the memory paw thing Bonney saw, maybe another Amogus moment with Devon this time, or some other crazy plot thread that we haven't seen yet. Maybe instead of Devon and whoever is with her imitating someone, imagine they were there to infiltrate Egghead to steal the Seraphim and an authority chip.
There is a big advantage in using Gear 4th over Gear 5th, which is being able to retain focus and seriousness.
Gear 5th makes Luffy careless, and while that isn't necessarily a problem in a straight fight since it's offset by the powers he gains, it's a problem for other things, such as keeping Kizaru occupied. In Gear 5th Luffy's a lot more likely to get distracted and let Kizaru slip by him.
these past couple of chapters have made me love kizaru so much more, his eyes a lot of the time say so much
It would be fun to see Luffy not understanding what this giant robot is and just dressing it like a huge armor that specifically awakened for his giant form (we know how much Luffy loves cosplaying)

As long as Oda has to spend time on the live action series, I don't think we'll be having a weekly release on the manga again any time soon. Which I'm okay with, I could wait longer than this even, if it means he has enough time to do everything and get his rest. He was hospitalized not that long ago, and I'd rather he not need to go back.

There is a similar test that instead of weight would measure energy release that was suggested by someone whose name I forget but it hasn't been done/funded by anyone
There have also been measurements that are really weird about the weight of deer or something like that iirc, like they'd gain weight then lose weight after death.

I think the robot woke up because Laffy said he was thrown "down there". I think he got tossed all the way down to the junk yard and hit gear fifth there to get back up. That proximity woke it up. Before he was a ways away when he fought lucci.

Kuma’s soul is stored in the giant robot on egg head and the robot is in him which is why kumas body woke up when joy boy spoke to it and is continuing the robots mission to attack the celestial dragons. The giant robot is has been re-awakened (with kumas soul inside) and will allow the straw hats to escape.

If I recall correctly oda said that the draw back for luffy using gear 2 was removed after the time skip. And obviously it was remove with gear 3 the downside is gone since he doesn't shrink anymore, and 4 seems to be getting longer time length wise.
5 turns him into an old man at the end for some reason but it does seem like it is objectively the best form now.
Why does gear 5 do that to him anyway? Isn't it basically a zoan transformation? Why is he the only one who suffers a drawback from transforming?

The fight’s going to end in an anticlimax when Luffy suddenly gets an idea, flicks the nearest light switch he can find, and Kizaru instantly dies.
It's weird to see how fast luffy is using gear fourth, he used it almost immediately against the seraphim and kizaru when it's usually built up to, I think it's reasonable to believe that luffys advanced haki or gear fifth has removed the 10 minute long weakness
I'd like to imagine that Luffy climbs into the giant robot and treats it like a suit of armor. We've seen how much he likes armor.

A joyboy couldn't have appeared 200yrs ago because the promised day was 800yrs to the future and when Roger and Oden found laugh tale they realized that they were 20yrs to early and someone of great importance would come at that time (joyboy) which is why Oden wanted to open the border of wano before the promised day.
