    sooo, it's NOT a barn ''find'' if it's been in the family since 1963-64.... nice car & project nonetheless, but title is misleading, that's all.

    • @vintagehotrods
      @vintagehotrods  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the owner had it stored away and the guy who owns it now built it, but didnt own it at the time. The original owner died and his son left the car parked in a little chicken barn and it was only known by a handful of people until the current owner(guy who built it) got it pulled out of the barn. Just labeled it as such to help it reach more people and bring people in to see our channel and what we do as a shop especially since younger guys arent in to what we do.

    Pretty sure my dad would have known this car from its time on the track. He raced a ‘55 gasser in C/G at Bunker Hill and all of the other tracks around. He passed away in 2012. We built three cars together while he was here that my family still have; ‘33 Ford Coupe, ‘55 Chevy 210 and a ‘49 Studebaker Truck. Cool to randomly have this video come up on my feed and see “Sharpsville, Ind” painted on the side of the gasser! Would love to connect sometime. I’m in the Greentown/Valpo area. IG is @bradmwolf. the pre-wash photos show the hood pushed in with dirt on it and the tires are rotted and flat. However, the hood is fine and the tires are up when you look at it in the trailer. What happened?

    • @vintagehotrods
      @vintagehotrods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hood still has a little indent and they washed it and put air in the tires. They are still rotted, but hold air.

    Very strange design. Why do they lift the front end so high. It looks more like an off road vehicle than a drag racer

    • @vintagehotrods
      @vintagehotrods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They lifted the front and sometimes not always recessed the engine back 25% which all helped shift weight to the rear end to help them hook up. Kind of the best way/technology to get traction back then.

      @@vintagehotrods But is it really a barn find if everyone for miles around knew about it and the owner didn't like, forget about it? I agree it's still an awesome car, but it's kinda clickbaity to call most of these cars on TH-cam "barn finds." Why not just say you're doing a video on a racecar built in the '60's that the owner has stored for like 40 years?

  • @28highboy

    I grew up in Amherst Co. VA, 389 Pontiac was a popular swap in the 60's. That car probably has a Pontiac rear also. With the 4 speed hydromatic and a Pontiac rear you had a bullet proof drive train. 401 Buicks and 394 Olds were popular also.
