  • This car marks my second true BARN FIND! There's been a few Garage finds thru the years but you'll see...this car has spent the last 50 years in a pretty isolated spot. My seller purchased this 34 Ford used from a man in Elba Alabama (Home of my friend Phillip's HotRod Garage). Drove it 65 miles with NO BRAKES to make it home to this spot and there it sat till I recovered it. Never gets old...and I hope to never take it for granted. Props to my buddies Austin and RD for the help. There's a pretty trick method my friend RD shares to "slip" heavyweight items around in a tough spot... You have to check this out. Enjoy and Share friends!

    Thanks for sharing that recovery, Larry! It looks like you made it just before that barn came down on her the rest of the way! What an absolute treasure to have tucked away for a different time! 'Looking forward to it! Enjoy! Be safe!

    I officially don’t like you any more Larry. Jealousy has got the best of me. 😂😂😂😂 Great find! They are still out there, just not as many as there used to be, and they are tucked away, harder to find than they used to be. Love it man!

    May I suggest 5 gallons each of Free-All and PB Blaster to soak down that rusty hunk of junk just to get it apart! Then you'll need many, many 34 Ford sheet metal parts, wiring, engine parts with machining, nuts, bolts, washers, auto glass, a whole new interior, gauges, steering wheel, pedal assemblies, radiator and mount, lights, tires, wheels, brake kits, and a whole lot of other stuff, plus a wooden 50-gallon barrel full of cash too...
    Personally - I would have searched for a decent 34 Ford Sedan that was running and drivable. To heck with resurrecting a dead horse from the graveyard! Good Luck Pal!

    U better check again , I believe you have a 1939 Ford deluxe dash and a 39 "banjo" wheel not 40. A few years ago myself and a son and a friend recovered a 34 in a little better condition from the side of a mountain where it had served duty for a long closed ski area. There was also a 32 Ford 3 window coupe which another person beat me to and a 30 something Plymouth which I imagine is still up there ! A mouse was not happy that we took its home and stayed with it down the mountain.

      There was a tow truck that unfortunately did a number on that poor car. There was little to no viable floor and I had tunnel 34 vision at that point.

    Boy, Larry, she’s rough! Did y’all get that steak dinner? Nice job on the rescue. Any idea when she was taken off the road? The funky truck stop turn signals make me think it drove a long time, but the general condition makes it seem like it’s been sitting there in that sport even longer than that…

    Well, I’m not really a proponent of the death penalty, only because lots of people have been exonerated with DNA testing, new evidence, and confessions. But I take exceptions when people hoard cars, with no intention of restoring them, and just letting them sink into the earth, by their own weight, and just rot away

    • @BoxcarsGarage
      @BoxcarsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a shame...agree 100%. I'll try to make it right....but at a minimum give it a fighting chance with another builder.

      @Boxcar's Garage is that a canned response? Why bother? Do you have a program that automatically responds, or are you interested in responses?

    • @BoxcarsGarage
      @BoxcarsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a canned response just a little short in retrospect. I'll be sure to keep the updates on this car coming in the future but my current target is to stabilize this body and slowly aquire parts. To that end I'm anticipating a video on bracing the interior structure, replacing that roof plug and lifting it off the rotten frame to a more mobile base. I got to get my coupe project back on track.

    Why any one now getting this car now why not 20 years ago just rusty mess rat rod I guess all you can do

    • @BoxcarsGarage
      @BoxcarsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm far more optimistic ... In my opinion the contemporary use of the term rat rod has become the catch all description of a wide spectrum of autos. But that's just me. Agree...20 yrs ago would have been a nice pull. Thanks...stay tuned!
