I’ve seen these kind in Kansas. I used to be a volunteer firefighter. One day I was off my regular job, and my pager went off for a possible house fire, just three miles from my house, in the country. When I went to get in my truck, I looked North and saw a column of smoke, dirty gray in color. A typical cookout for structure fires. I was there before the trucks arrived, and the house was already completely engulfed. However, that wasn’t all that was on fire. This place has hundreds of different kinds and makes of cars. Old ones, not so old ones, cars, trucks, convertibles, antiques, you name it, and it was probably there. And probably a quarter of them were already burning. No fire hydrant, although there was a water tower about 3/4 miles away. We all hoped upon hope and prayer that the resident, an old guy in his 70’s, a widower, wasn’t there. However, we found out he was there, and had been consumed by the fire. After all was said and done, his house, garage, two barns filled with cars, and likely over 100 cars, were either completely burned or so damaged by fire, they basically was trash. They had an auction if you want to call it that, for people that wanted some of the bodies for other restorations, but I Sunny think any of them brought more than a hundred, and that was few. Some were just dragged out and hauled away for free, what was left was picked up by a salvage owner for $25 apiece. The sad part was, this guy was just like the last guy. Bought ol all these cars, with intent to restore them,, got carried away, wife died, daughter lived in NC, I believe, the guy had let the house and the other buildings insurance lapse, let life insurance lapse, despite the daughters plea to let her help him, and to sell the cars so he would have some money, and move next door to her and his son-in-law, in a house they owned as well, rent free. Instead, they ended up paying to have everything bulldozed and hauled away, and ended up selling the land for way under what it would of if the dad would have listened to her and some of his friends that kept trying to help him. I’ve seen other people the same way, just like this. This guy will end up dying, and leaving it to someone else if there is, just as we all saw it. What a waste of someone buying some of them and reassuring them. But, that’s his choice.
Agreed, I really cannot understand what failed logic people like him use. It's almost like a kid playing keep away, he doesn't really want to do anything with those cars but sure doesn't want anyone else touching them.

God laughing at the gear heads on Earth. Put some of the greatest, fire-breathing beasts in this little man's yard to rot away, and never be for sale. By the time he kicks, that Judge will be dust.
I’m amazed at the things one person can collect. I often wonder where did/how did they ever come up with the money to buy all these items. The amount of property they have, the buildings, the parts, it’s mind boggling. Would love to know what they did/do for a living. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have anything finished. I don’t think he’ll ever get done. A great video, but it makes me sad to see these beautiful old cars just rot away.
I wonder the same thing. I have to save up for any parts even if its an alternator lol. I have a decent job and regular lifestyle. Cant imagine how much money it takes to buy all that stuff and the space for storage. It drives me crazy that my one truck isnt done and having that much stuff unfinished would drive me crazy
That dude with The Judge ain't building / finishing any of those cars.. As far as the cars go - what a waste And the guy / hoarder - what a knob. Great video Tom, looking forward to Part 3
"Just dont ask if anything's for sale" That there is the common thread with so many of these car owners, and the reality is....one day he'll pass away and they'll still be sitting there deteriorated even further and for someone else to deal with, and often times the siblings follow the same model as the one that left those classics behind.
Insanity ! doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting different results.... and never finishing any or really enjoying them or sharing w/ others.

Hard to watch
Lot of haters on here. To each his own....This is what makes this man happy! He owns them all and can do what he wants, so why talk down about him? Interesting collection for sure. I'm sure the Pickers would love his collectibles in the last building. I say "thanks" to this guy for letting the world see his collection.
The only one this guy deserves is that shitty new camaro he uses as an every day driver. At least there will be two-trillion of those before they quit making them.
Great stories. That part of Texas is full of cars. Rick has lots of very rare cars that took a long time to gather. I am sure he is capable. But the majority of them he will never restore. Not organized enough to crank them out. More to the point, he simply will not live long enough. He is the ultimate “one day I’ll get this one done” kind of guy.
Amazing collection, but you can tell the guy wants to own things more than restore them. It's his stuff to do with as he likes, but no doubt a lot of those outside will be useless by the time anyone gets around to fixing them.
"Oh yeah yeah. Yeah yeah. Of course. Oh yeah. Yeah yeah." The similarities between being a tweeker and being a hoarder are definitely worth a look. Who knows, this guy might be both.
Heartbreaking to see so much left to rot, "Not for sale" "I am starting work on that soon" "Its a project I will be doing that next" all will be sold when he dies, still unfinished.
Love your work Tom , and respect to you that you dont openly JUDGE some of these characters and there amazing but sad collections.. as you can read in the comments its a sad , and frustrating time for car guys picking over the bones of whats left whilst others hoard hundreds of classics to rot back to mother earth....
“When the time comes...” 😂
The comments section here is brutal😂 but also correct 🤷🏻♂️
for real. He's an eccentric old fool
when he dies
He will never see in his lifetime those cars restored.
I'd be willing to bet not a single one makes it back on the road before he dies. Not without someone else doing it.
the type of guy who will let those rot away, wont sell, will die and family will have them crushed. such a shame and a waste of some great cars.
Agreed, I really cannot understand what failed logic people like him use. It's almost like a kid playing keep away, he doesn't really want to do anything with those cars but sure doesn't want anyone else touching them.
@@TheSaturnV Its like ancient egypt burying all the gold all the treasures with their dead. Absurdly stupid. Its Greed, selfishness, and the inability to let go!
When the family would be me, i would sell the bad ones and restore the good ones myself, and make a small fortune, because all i see in alot
of those cars is dollars, and alot of them.
He said his son was a car guy so yeah, nothing will get crushed and most likely auctioned
Marc D - and didn’t I hear that the son passed on that Judge? If so, the son needs Dr. Phil as well ‼️🤡🤪😂🇺🇸👍
Thats a bloody prison for those cars and all are wrongfully convicted to that fool
"I'm not a hoarder". Screw this guy hoarding all these cool cars
yeah !!! and at the end he said next time you around here i will have more stuff
He's got good taste, you've got to give him that.
This guy must expect to live 200 more years. That's about how long it's gonna take him to get a car done
If this guy had 200 more years, he would continue buying cars to add to the rust pile. He isn't collecting to restore, he's collecting so you can't restore.
"I'm not a horder!" " I'm going to get to it soon." How long have you had it? " 20 years." This guy is funny
Yeah, most of his cars have been his for 10-25 years. Imagine seeing them 20 years ago before the extra rust/rot. Very sad & disappointing.
Dude, he made me sick to my stomach.
I tell my kids it's "Inventory" not Hoarding.
Hard to let go. You get attached to things. Then you leave them a mess to clean up when you're gone.
❤❤😊
hey everyone! “rick” is my grandpa and i would just like to remind everyone about a few things. he did work on cars but i hope yall know it wasn’t his JOB but a HOBBY. he did work on cars and those were all his extras not including the ones at his house. my grandpa was an amazing person and he had more responsibilities then just cars! hope this helps! quick reminder to not judge people because he worked very hard and yall are acting like yall knew him. thanks!
@jen106 Sorry, I meant no disrespect. I'm sure he's a great man. The car community is made up of generally good people. We see potential in not only old cars but the human spirit.
Man, hagerty has some of the best camera guys out there, shout out to their editing skills as well. Great work guys.
I made a couple of barn finds of my own today. A 55 Olds 88, a 72 ranchero 500, and a 56 Chevy squad car. It still has the cherry on top.
I inherited a 55 chevy in texas… been parked for 35+ years in a utility barn/shed. Lemme know if interested in making an episode!
Tom, this is one of those episodes we need to watch over and over. WOW. and he's not a hoarder..oh man..Thx for for bringing us along..👍🇧🇲🇧🇲
This is the best episode of em all.I have seen it 3 times already, and Rick really looks happy with all projects and cars everybody wants.
I need to watch some car restoration clips to recuperate from this
Paul Simon Same, this guy is a disgrace to car people.😭😔
Watch JunkyardDigs or Thunderhead289. Those guys appreciate old cars. They don't fully restore them, but they get them up and running and they drive them. Young guys who aren't wealthy love these old cars WAY more than an old rich guy.
"I won't sell anything, I just buy classic cars in decent condition then let them rot outside."
New drinking game:
Take a drink everytime Rick says "Yeah".
You'll have alcohol poisoning in less than 20 minutes.
Yeah-haha!
I started repeating his 'yeah' and was echo'ing it out loud laughin at myself. 😂
Yah, yah, , , ,yah Yah yah yah
Why do people let cars like that sit??? 😭
Money . None of it . Lol
@@Spad68 sell the boss and the superbird then you have the money to have some one else fix two or three cars.
took the words right OUT of my mouth...wow that judge is going to sit there and rott away....this should be against the LAW...
Because they are junk collectors
Wow, I'm blown away by his collection! so glad he was willing to share his treasures.
Rick likes to protest a lot but deep down there's a kinship there. Two guys knowing a hell of a lot and talking the language of cars. Great finds H, look forward to seeing more.
better keep tabs on this guy cause the day he kicks the bucket his family is going to have a huge estate sale
my thought exactly
Probably but don't forget he got a son whose into camaros but doubting to go into restoration. Y'all start befriending him and his son before the bucket is kick out of him.
They will rust to the ground before that happens.
Yep,,I was thinking the same. In fact i'd say they already have plans for their share of the money. It'll be another Lambrecht.
Im good friends with this guy. Trust me his family isnt going to do that. They all have a home
I want to buy a headliner for the wagon it’s driving me crazy
Let's do it!
please explain how a car you see on a show is driving you crazy because it does not have a headliner?
Product placement. Dyna-Mat is a sponsor.
Such hoarder he’s even filled the bloody horse stable!
What a fantastic man and what a huge collection of interesting cars. I am grateful that this type of collector is still there because it allows our children to find cool cars in the future as well.
Sad to see that mini horse only have one tiny path. The rest of the pen is filled with cars. Sad.
I noticed that as well, you could see he wants to run
and they look Mean and neglected too.. Sad fella and the guy seems like a real neglectful Hoarder type for sure. .too bad someone doesn't come and take it All from him.
I owned a ‘70 Goat back in 1983…fastest ride I ever had the honor to own. Thanks for the trip back
The second yard was awesome but sad at the same time, he will never live long enough to finish them
He'll live long enough to let Father Time and Mother Nature destroy them so that no one will have a chance to have them. He'll live long enough for that to happen.
Wait... judge in the field and 76 corvette in the building 🤦🏾♂️
DezzysSpeedShop doesn’t make sense does it?
get 'em back on he road........where they belong !!!
Hey, the dude's a complete MONGO !!!! He can't help it !!!!
Take a shot every time the "Car Rotting Hoarder" says "Yah"
"I run everybody off and I never mow the grass".....I'm a lunatic basically.
Scott Blackwell and I keep a Plymouth Superbird in a horse pasture. “Gonna fix’er up one day”
We all have that special *kind* of friend...
I'm a no mow grass type with a 71 satellite.
Certified even....I was fully expecting this guy to say "shitters' and chase Arnie off
Rick os one of thoes guys that buys up all the cars and sits on them till he dies.. Keeps lots of the ones wanting to restore them from getting good cars. hes not an unkonwn person in town
"When I get serious about it" ~ How long have you had it? Oh, about 25 years" I couldn't stop laughing......
Man, this guy has a collection to die for, and it's just sitting and rotting. Seeing all of these amazing and rare cars rotting into the ground legitimately makes me sad.
Great job "Rick," let's watch a GTO Judge slowly rot into the ground.
he had two of them also.
My grandpa was a Judge and worked for immigrants he owned a lot and we miss him
@marimartinez8772 Sorry for your loss, may he rest in peace.
Holy moley, Rick should start investing in pole barns to keep some of those rare cars out of the weather.
That dude with The Judge ain't building / finishing any of those cars..
As far as the cars go - what a waste
And the guy / hoarder - what a knob.
Sad watching this knowing this guy would rather watch em rot before selling them 🤢
THANK YOU RICK FOR THE TOUR..!! He has enough "projects" for 20 guys..
dude has a superbird sat rusting in his pony compound and he's more excited about his easy rider replica...
And wasnt even a good replica lol
To have that 69 black and gold camaro convertible packed away and never drove is insane!
Insanity ! doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting different results.... and never finishing any or really enjoying them or sharing w/ others.
True, but convertible muscle cars ain't that valuable, i guess real car guys don't really go after those..
"I'm not a hoarder"... let me show you my 3 garages with 25 cars each with a walking path through the middle
“I’m not a hoarder”😂😂😂 if greed was a person
You haven't finished the car for 25 years.,, This lunatic going to ruin everything.
yeah yeah!
Ya
With all due respect, I have been working on a 72 Hurst Olds for 10 years, but I also am only using factory original equipment and replacement parts that are oem NOS, really hard to do.
Another "I'll fix it someday" ass hat that will let all those gems rot to the ground.
Exactly this fvcking moron will fvck this great collection even further.I really hate idiots like this turd
worse yet, his family will inherit it all,\ most they willl think is just junk and have hauled off, other they may keep, the wrest they may sell and not get what they are worth.
Yup smh
I endorse this man and encourage anybody else to accumulate as much or more cool car collectables. This is what America is all about.
Eventually, half the stuff will go for half price at an estate sale and the other half to the junk yard/grinder. Shameful!!!
“I’ve never finished anything “. BINGO
Nor will he.
"I'm not a hoarder". Screw this guy hoarding all these cool cars
Old classic cars are never finished
I really like watching your episodes..I am very sad to see abandoned so beautiful and remarkably cars of the past..Well done to all of you to give life to some of them again..Continue the good work..Greetings from Greece ✌
Absolutely awesome, and Rick was a real nice guy letting us have a glimpse into his collection.
ENOUGH, ENOUGH ! THERE'S MORE THAN FIVE LIFETIMES HOARDED ON THAT PROPERTY !!
10 years from now they will still be sitting there rotting away....
I know this guy he will never fix anything. He just hoards cars.
So hard to see so many epic machines laying waste, sometimes it's hard not to get furious when you see Boss Mustangs, Z28 Camaros, Chargers, challengers, superbirds, chevelle, tri year Chevy, hot rods, and GTO Judges being neglected by a man that has to many things that he no longer Truly Appreciates them... Hard to watch
Truth.
Damn that is so sad.
The Judge, 442, Z28s, outside will sit there and rot till he dies.
yeah, and a worthless fiero kit car in the last shop....even the nice cars will need work to get back on the road
boss mustang, chevelle ss, super b...there alot of nice cars getting destroyed.
Yep and eventually theyll get to the point of no return
Lot of haters on here.
To each his own....This is what makes this man happy! He owns them all and can do what he wants, so why talk down about him?
Interesting collection for sure. I'm sure the Pickers would love his collectibles in the last building. I say "thanks" to this guy for letting the world see his collection.
That judge, 70 Plymouth, camaro, 442....none deserve to be there
YES.... That is what I said. This guy is an ass hole for letting these things sit and never selling
The only one this guy deserves is that shitty new camaro he uses as an every day driver. At least there will be two-trillion of those before they quit making them.
not for sale, but sitting there outside, sinking in the damned dirt.
blasphemy
Great stories. That part of Texas is full of cars. Rick has lots of very rare cars that took a long time to gather. I am sure he is capable. But the majority of them he will never restore. Not organized enough to crank them out. More to the point, he simply will not live long enough. He is the ultimate “one day I’ll get this one done” kind of guy.
Amazing collection, but you can tell the guy wants to own things more than restore them. It's his stuff to do with as he likes, but no doubt a lot of those outside will be useless by the time anyone gets around to fixing them.
elobiretv he dose it so he can brag about having every car but the people he brags to don't know they are rotting into the ground
This was frustratingly interesting to watch.
NJoloop
Nn.
That GTO is just wasting away ! Jesus dude take care of that King of the Muscle Cars !
Go back in 5 yrs and the judge will still be sitting there i bet ya!!
Not a “barn find” if it stays rotting in, or outside of, a barn
I wish I had never got rid of my 1959 Chevy Kingswood station wagon. I would love to have another classic old wagon again.
It's at Rick's Rotten Rods!😂
I’m working on that. I’m working on that one too. No you aren’t!! Sell them!
"Oh yeah yeah. Yeah yeah. Of course. Oh yeah. Yeah yeah." The similarities between being a tweeker and being a hoarder are definitely worth a look. Who knows, this guy might be both.
"this is my big time project" car sitting under 2 inches of dust
Without a full time staff there are not enough hours or days left to do what he says he's going to do. But, nothings for sale.
labrd41 only someone like Jay Leno could pull it off. Can’t imagine.
Heartbreaking to see so much left to rot, "Not for sale" "I am starting work on that soon" "Its a project I will be doing that next" all will be sold when he dies, still unfinished.
This guy needs to have a chat with Dr. Phil. He needs some sense slapped into him. Lol
I wonder if this guy will ever finish anything before he drops dead. I doubt it.
There not making any more and as each car goes to rust and dust , so too does its story , its history and its future .....
A word of caution to you young fellers
This scene starts out with one car, then five -so as Tom says, finish one before you start on another.Or,end up an old man and you've finished nothing
Maybe the guy who dies with the most toys wins. It's a concept
wins what? he's dead
Another heartless fool letting beautiful cars rot away.
I'll never understand the mindset of a person like this.
Sell and save those cars!
Wak Job
Loves them
Yet hates them🤔
Thats because you dont have 40 cars
Don't try to understand him. He's a very sick man.
