60 years ago I was age 5. girls had cooties, lived in California when it was still nice! Fortunately we were a military Family and escaped long before it all went to poop.
There are 6 of us that meet for coffee on Monday at my best friend's shop, we watch your show and tell lies about all the different stuff we know how to fix! Lol Always a great morning!
Hey Ho! for all you kids out there; before the fancy hoists they used a pit, dug in the garage floor, to work on the underbody parts. The pit was just a bit narrower than the common wheel base of cars of the era. The pit was long enough that you could walk down three steps from the shop to the base of the pit. It was, of course, cement walls and floor, IF the shop was high class!
I got a 70 yr old friend that has one, in his old '40s Quonset Hut shop! Looks like half of a giant culvert! So cool! I used to jump across his "grease pit" when I was about 10.
I remember the workshop pits too. A mate of mine wanted to have one in his garage, but local council residential zoning regs said this wasn't allowed.....so he dug out a "wine cellar" and placed a bottle of wine in the corner of the pit in case someone checked up on it!
Even in the early 21st Century, vintage Detroit Iron is still being found everywhere even in the proverbial barn. As always Mort, thank you for another great video.
Ford gets an "A" for effort on this coupe. Its just super cool that its still intact and not hot rodded to death. Good stuff and wonderful start to the week!
It is amazing that decent barn finds like this still surface from time to time. And Mortske is there, ready, willing, and able to get them running again!
The body on that Model A is the most solid I've seen. Good score on that purchase. New(or repaired) fuel tank and several hundred dollars in front end parts, and she'd roll down the road as Henry intended.
I was supposed to inherit my grandfather's 30 model A coupe. It was fully restored in the 80's but needed some love in 2001 when he passed away. I wanted it so much but my grandmother was worried I'd cut it up to hotrod it. I'll probably never get one myself now, but who knows. Awesome video as I'm watching
Funny thing about inflammable it means flammable. As a kid (I'm 72) I remember ramps made of phone poles and heavy planks to drive up for servicing under cars.
You know what's possibly the most under appreciated engine ever? Gm 3.8 or 3800 v6. Cheap n plentiful in junkyards. Quite durable. Only problem is adapting to rear wheel drive applications. There's a guy on TH-cam has one I a chevette. Adapted to a 5 speed. He says it's the cats ass.. would make a model a body go like a house a fire. Lol
Thanks for one of your awesome videos now take Duff for a ride in his old hotrod you'll have to drive since he'll be busy hanging out the window 🪟 I hope whom ever buys this rod loves it as much as the farmer who held it for a while thanks to all of your crew for all they do in your legendary shop

The smile value of watching this is to the moon! PLUS, I learned the name "Washington Blue" which is the color of my neighbor's Model A roadster pickup! Great stuff!
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I checked the price and I feel that's pretty fair for a complete steel body in pretty nice shape 👍 I've never really had interest in model A's or vintage roadsters but I recently met someone who's dream car is a 30 Ford. That car came back to life with really minimal effort. I'm quite impressed 🤘 you may not have scared Chin's daughter but you're scared the crap out of me 😂 thanks for another great video Mortske ✌️🇺🇲
Great episode! Really enjoyed the reuse of the trailer tires. As far as hubcaps - my favorites are the early 70's mopar poverty caps. $4k is a great price! I am surprised it wasn't sold before the video hit. I would like to see a T roadster body on that spare A chassis. The "brown and white" footage at the end was a great touch! 👍
I think I liked this one more because it was quite enjoyable for you! I can see you really enjoyed this one more than most. Ok enough mushy stuff. I hope to get one soon. Glad to see what to do and not to do. Thanks!
I'm thrilled to see you got to run and drive this one, I'm personally amazed at how easy you made it look to get this one going! I really appreciate the insight into how these really "basic" cars were set up and the ingenuity of the engineers making things work with the materials available.
I'm glad your driving your roadster to bad Ole Puddin can't get his out of the door maybe if he starts doing car stuff more or is he broken who knows but Oklahoma rod is doing good and Bill is coming along on his rod btw I thought it was great how you jumped in and helped Bill out especially for a grumpy Ole guy or maybe it was Duff that did it

The reason that spiral sheathed cable that goes in the bottom of the distributor is there, that was Ford’s antitheft device. It went from the distributor up to the key, when the key was turned ‘on’, (it was actually a pop out key/button) the switch would ground that wire and complete the circuit through the points. Would be thieves had to work at getting through that armored wire which proved to be somewhat of a deterrent. I know that sounds goofy but that’s why Henry did it. One thing to note, occasionally the wire that runs through that armored spiral sheathing will short out inside there and will drain your battery, burn out the coil and/or prevent the car from being shut off with the key. Love the channel!
You made a comment about Fisher and it reminded me that, once upon a time, I lived next door to C.T. Fisher the Fourth, an ancestor of the Fisher Brothers. It seems that C.T.F. the IV, was a hemophiliac. and we were warned, as children, not to be too playful with him as he was prone to heavy bleeding. I tried to engage but was rebuffed.
Those visible gas pumps like the one installed on this car are worth mega bucks. Your results may vary. Serious side, that is a great platform to build from no matter which direction a person wants to go. The purchase price you mentioned I was expecting rolling parts but that car is a few projects away from a driver. I'm picturing make it sound and call it a survivor. Good purchase Mortske.
Very enjoyable as always. Even as a moderately old guy (51) I learn something every video. I mess with bikes so the nurse tank is needed. I use an IV pole to hold it. Those things are useful! Have a good one, have a couple sammiches and keep them coming
Mortske, back in the late 1950s one of my cousins and his dad had 8 model As, two of which were in daily driver nick. They would rotate one car every two years so they always had two fresh As to drive. They showed me that timing trick and that alone made me an instant fan! Great Video!
After watching this video last night, today I checked and reset the timing on my 29 Model A Tudor. It was off just a bit. Thank you for the simple explanation on how to do it.
Hey Mortske, if you flip the rear tailpipe clamp it should lower the pipe under the rear axle...I bought a wrecked 1929 Ford Town Sedan when I was in high school back in the early seventies...paid one my favorite teachers (his family owned some cherry orhards here in Michigan) $300 for it. Some of my best memories are of my Dad and I repairing it back to roadworthy condition.Yeah, ole Dad and his Old Milwaukee sammiches (he had a whole wall in his basement made out of empty sammich cans)... RIP Dad...I was in a three car wreck with my Model A, an Opel Cadet, and a Ford Maverick Grabber. The old Model A was the only car that could still drive home, the others had to be towed away...gave the car to my oldest son, he sold it years later...was a cool car...
Started watching Monday night and just finished up Tuesday. That's an awesome survivor. If I had the right garage to work in, I'd get this old Ford. It has minimal rust and has all the glass. It'll make a great project car for somebody. Thanks for another great episode.

Hmmmm, where was I 60 years ago? Well, I just turned into a teenager and was probably just in the 8th grade. Pretty nice old rig. With not to much it could be a runner! Hey, thanks for the ride. Better with 2nd & 3rd👍!
Hey Mortske, I missed commenting on your hot rod you picked up in Texas. I thought the best part of that video was you and Puddin. Just two friends wind in the hair riding together . True friendship. The look on your faces Priceless ….
That thing is beyond a great set of bones for a father / son build or the guy who just retired build.. or just anyone. At that price, you can't afford NOT to pick this one up. Great job Mortske, I sure hope it goes to a wonderful new home!
I love Model A’s. I have 2 of them! Probably the most accessible old car/hot rod, and so many shared experiences with the amount of them built and still out there!
I don't have a favorite hubcap because there are so many cool ones made from the 60's and back into the 30's. My favorite wheel cover is a 63 Corvette with the spinner... Holy Crap... I can't believe how solid that car is, and you got it for $1600. You scored, plus you got extra parts, and of course she spun right over. I like the old style headlights with the blue oval, and the snazzy blue grunt knob on the steering wheel. I was born in 1961, and I still remember seeing the knobs on rigs when I was young. There were a lot of them. Lots of different styles and colors, but I think the most common, and probably the cheapest, was probably the basic knob that was just smooth bare metal... I've still got a few of the knobs that I got from my Grandfather quite a few years ago. It's been years since I looked at them but I think one was red, one was green and another was bare metal. Of course back then most people had the registration for their car in a small plastic envelope that had two springs on it, and you wrapped it around the steering column... I agree, I really like the original blue color too, but then again, my favorite color has been blue since I was a little kid. This car would have looked so cool sitting on the dealers lot when it was brand new... I'm sitting here trying to imagine what it would have been like going to the dealer and buying that car brand new and driving it home. It would have been freakin awesome.
Wonderful, another model a. enough have been done on line already. Feel free to pin this if you want. Nothing new to see here.
Maybe there are some "Barbie" channels that may suit your style. Nobody is twisting your arm to remain here.

RIP to my dad a marine through and through.
I don't have a favorite hubcap because there are so many cool ones made from
the 60's and back into the 30's. My favorite wheel cover is a 63 Corvette with the spinner...
Holy Crap... I can't believe how solid that car is, and you got it for $1600. You scored,
plus you got extra parts, and of course she spun right over.
I like the old style headlights with the blue oval, and the snazzy blue grunt knob on the steering wheel.
I was born in 1961, and I still remember seeing the knobs on rigs when I was young.
There were a lot of them. Lots of different styles and colors, but I think the most common,
and probably the cheapest, was probably the basic knob that was just smooth bare metal...
I've still got a few of the knobs that I got from my Grandfather quite a few years ago.
It's been years since I looked at them but I think one was red, one was green and another was bare metal.
Of course back then most people had the registration for their car in a small plastic envelope
that had two springs on it, and you wrapped it around the steering column...
I agree, I really like the original blue color too, but then again, my favorite color has been
blue since I was a little kid.
This car would have looked so cool sitting on the dealers lot when it was brand new...
I'm sitting here trying to imagine what it would have been like going to the dealer and
buying that car brand new and driving it home. It would have been freakin awesome.
