A joy to watch your videos but they stopped? I admire your imagination to keep coming up with great ideas and sharing your passion for woodwork. Well done. One Handed Maker - Australia
Wow, very cool~! I've seen how expensive a set of winding sticks can be (milled aluminum or other metal), but I'm definitely going to tackle this project based on your presentation of it. Love the contrast between the walnut and holly. Thanks for sharing~!
1. I came across your channel because I've been searching online to see if anyone sells winding sticks at a decent price 2. The wedge you created to use against your shooting board is a genius idea, I will now be using that for my projects
Thanks man! We are doing good. I hope you and the family are as well. I have been enjoying your recent videos. Glad your consistently posting again. One of my favorite channels!
G’day mate, nice display of your craft on this video, whilst I’m not a hand tool woodworker or Turner it’s really nice watching how you go about it 👍👍👍
This video should be a must see for anyone making a woodworking or how to video. Clear concise, to the point no annoying music Good job (and I will be making some new winding sticks tonight)
Thanks! Its a fun project that doesn't take too long. I built so many plywood projects lately I felt I had to get at least 1 traditional woodworking build in.
Great little project and the winding sticks look great. Have you thought about inlaying some small magnets in them to keep them together and easier store? I think your design makes them good candidates for magnets.
2:14 "Of course you could just use a bandsaw to make this cut in a couple of seconds, but what fun is that?" This is the inside of my mind every time my dad visits and starts telling me how much easier it is with X or Y power tools
Very nice Dave, I always enjoy your hand tool only projects. Awesome thing to watch. I use a similar method when I am making twists. I use 2 welding rods to make sure the orientation of the bar is correct. They not as nice as your bars. 👍
Beautiful work man! Have you had a chance to use them...and if so, are they what you hoped for? I love using a pencil sharpener to get your point...great stuff!
Yeah they are easier to read then my old ones. Not sure if its the contrast (my old ones were maple with walnut strip across the top) or if its because these are 6 inches longer then my old ones
Thanks! I did pick up a couple new planes. LN no.5 and a 50 degree bronze no. 4. Both are really nice. I love my old bedrock no. 5 but the extra weight and super fine depth adjustment of the LN is amazing.
I recently bought a Lie-Nielsen low angle jack plane, and low angle rabbet bench plane. The upgrade in my hand plane quiver has felt like going from driving a Datsun to a Cadillac.😄
"But what fun is that?" I couldn't have said this better ;-) Unfortunately walnut is not so easy to get here in Germany (and it will never end up in the scrap bin 😂 for sure)
Love the content but haven’t seen anything new in quite awhile. Does this channel still exist or put out new content? Did something happen to prevent any new content in over a year? Was curious because I found this channel late but was impressed with the content and now it seems to have gone dormant.
Thank you. I took a break from filming anything since my day job got really busy last spring. I am working on a couple projects now that I hope to have edited and published in the next month or so
Yeah! Doing good. Still working in the shop but the day job has been busy since the beginning of 2020 so I took some time off from recording my projects
Thanks Dave - lovely job.

You get my respect doing all this by hand without the use of power tools!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks! This is a good project for just hand tools. It's my favorite way to build. I just don't always have the time
Great project 👍
Thanks! You make some great turnings over on your channel.
Very nice
Awesome to see another hand tool video by you!
Nice job Dave 👍😊beautiful

I'm glad you you found the build useful! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to make a set ... and now I've got a plan
Loving all your videos. I'm just curious why you stopped making videos. Would love to see more.
Walnut is one of my favorite woods! Very nice buddy!
Thanks! They don't have to be fancy but I love the contrast of the holly and walnut
Awesome! Thanks for making this
Great looking winding sticks, Dave! Hope you and the family are doing well.

Grate video, keep up the good work.
Thank you!

Thanks buddy. I hope you are doing well
You really went all out on those winding sticks. They look like a piece of high-end furniture. I hope you make a video on flattening your work bench.
I think I'm going to do a 2 year review of the bench. Talk about what I like and what I would do different. I will flatten the top in that video
This video should be a must see for anyone making a woodworking or how to video. Clear concise, to the point no annoying music Good job (and I will be making some new winding sticks tonight)
Thanks! Good luck with the build
WAY nicer than the scraps i typically use for this task! .... Thanks now i have another project to add to my ever growing list 🙄😂👍🏻🤜🏻
Thanks! Its a fun project that doesn't take too long. I built so many plywood projects lately I felt I had to get at least 1 traditional woodworking build in.
nice see how to make them using hand tools.
Great little project and the winding sticks look great. Have you thought about inlaying some small magnets in them to keep them together and easier store? I think your design makes them good candidates for magnets.
Thanks! The magnets would be a great idea. I just ordered some on Amazon to do this

Fantastic work, dude! Beautifully done! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you!
Came out great! I’ve been wanting to make some for myself, also new lie Nielsen plane? 🤔
Thanks! I did pick up a couple new planes. LN no.5 and a 50 degree bronze no. 4. Both are really nice. I love my old bedrock no. 5 but the extra weight and super fine depth adjustment of the LN is amazing.
LN👍. Simply delightful planing. Acquired a 5 1/2 recently. Wish I done so much sooner. Plus, your winding sticks are lovely. Nice demo.
I recently bought a Lie-Nielsen low angle jack plane, and low angle rabbet bench plane. The upgrade in my hand plane quiver has felt like going from driving a Datsun to a Cadillac.😄
Great video. Could you please tell me the dimensions you used for the angle please. Trevor Australia
Oh about a minute ago i watch the hand toolery channel then i got here same work
"But what fun is that?" I couldn't have said this better ;-)
Unfortunately walnut is not so easy to get here in Germany (and it will never end up in the scrap bin 😂 for sure)
Where are you mate…
Just subscribed.
How is the workbench holding up ?
Was thinking of building mine out of pine
@@JamesRyanKruebbe It’s great! I recently flattened the top. There wasn’t much twist or warping but just cleaned the surface up
@ thank you and great job sir👍🏻

Any updates?
Now that you have winding sticks, will you change the channel name to un-twisted workshop?
Nice one!
Hey, noticed you haven't uploaded in a while, doing okay?
Yeah! Doing good. Still working in the shop but the day job has been busy since the beginning of 2020 so I took some time off from recording my projects
@@TwistedWorkshop77 that's really good to hear. Stay frosty.
More like the UN-twisted woodshop AMIRIGHT!?!?
Sorry everyone....
Got jokes!
Nice job Dave 👍😊beautiful
Thank you!
