Thanks for uploading some of BSF. A lot of TH-camrs have overlooked him because he seems a little out of place. But I don't think most people understand that if it wasn't for them, this may never have happened, because Matt may not have started a TH-cam channel. He (Matt) once said Eric was the OG, and gave him the idea to start his channel.

At the end Rory said what I was thinking , he treated it like it was your 2023 Rubicon that he was towing where as everyone else pretty much threw being careful out the window , but that being said what a show from all of them . Thanks for the video !!

Merlin's Rig was Yellow before coming to the games and now it's been washed down to the original green. His choice of decorations for his recovered vehicle was great. At a distance, you didn't notice it was Merlin's Off-Road Recovery on the door decals. The Plaintain was an obvious joke for the Banana, but the use of LESS as a pun on MORR was sublime.

I think Matt's machine is in a class of its own, by far, but Merlin's is definitely my sentimental favorite.
The amount of good clean fun being had at this event looks off the charts. Even from 9000 miles away and from assorted spectator footage trickling out I have seen every single competitor doing something to help out other competitors (running back with gear, spotting them, etc.). Also fun jabs like Melon's garage hijacking MORR's logo and getting away with it, Matt not having reverse and Rory doing the course is reverse, and so forth all with a smile and a wink. Keep it up, just make sure everybody stays safe. Next year making sure the toe-car pilots are harnessed in with a little bit of safety cage might be in order, and not having people downhill from dicey situations...
agreed, I cringed 😬 when Lizzy was dangling straight up in the air , as Matt pulled her through the chute … I know he just forget to lower the winch on the boom , but that could have been devastating, had there been a failure…
I also suspect it wasn't an intended jab at Melon, but I got humor from it...
@@oneshotpete6.591 FWIW, they had that Rodeo both hooked up to the boom line, and double or triple loop of their fat kinetic rope down low to keep it in close. It wasn't going anywhere. It did occur to me that Matt could have crab walked a bit to the right at the top of the chute to keep the Rodeo from ending up so far left, leaning way to the right.

I imagine next year there will be some modifications to how the event was carried out.
Matt built an incredible rig and is a great driver, but Rory is on another level. That guy is an offroad tow driving savant.
Watch some of his buggy work too, dude is like a magician.
Because Rory does this for a living, so just another day in the office for him.
Really??? Matts is a brand new build with no time on it! Give him one summer and that thing will be dialed and nearly unstoppable. Nothing against Rory but definitely not on a whole other level! I have great respect for everyone one of these guys competing! People have NO IDEA what this takes!

Matt is going through some negative changes. EVERYONE but Lizzy is gone and he and all of a sudden Tom Tom moves to Utah Matt thinks he is a rocket scientist and they act like two little giggly school girls now. If it doesn't change back to it's roots I will stop my subscription. I don't know what happened...
Nice filming, and editing. I wasn't expecting to see and hear that much from the event for at least a few more weeks.
Thanks for airing the video. All the trucks were awesome. As some were bare bones they did great with the experience the drivers and crew have. Great just doesn't begin to describe it.

Thanks! It was significantly difficult to get and keep a clear vantage point with so many people all trying to do the same thing. It was funny how literally everybody along the front was recording all at the same time from their own vantage point.

Great job! Love your camera view of that last obstacle. Video usually flattens how steep things look, but you made that section look like a wall. Having people sprinkled all over the rocks makes the terrain look amazing.

Matt doesn’t have to worry about reverse. The spectators love to help. Matt created a great event and helped all of his friends too. Kudos to him and his crew.

No surprise to me. I expected it to blow up. I actually expected more competitors, and I think there are a few more that would have been willing to come. These aren't the only guys doing off road recoveries.
I do agree with this, It was a very great presentation and the Camera people were right there, Far better than any real Broadcasting Company has done in years.

Nice camera work. I can't believe how many people are there. Looks CRAZY dangerous how close folks are getting to the rigs unpredictably bouncing up through there. Saw lots of people (some on the teams) walking right next to the towed rig on pretty precarious footing. Wouldn't take much for them to get pinched...
Respect for those towed vehicle drivers. Balls of steel!

ETA: Having now watched the whole video, want to say great editing, and recording. You've done an amazing event massive justice with your videography and editing. It looked like a blast, massive respect to all the people in the towed cars, Seeing Ben going upside down just left me with an :O face. So much trust between them all, the drivers of the rigs. I so wish they'd live streamed as a paid platform with this event.

Awesome video, great work, thanks for sharing. That last obstacle was crazy steep. I have seen other recordings of if from the side where it didn't look nearly as steep.
Your angle from the bottom was much better and you could see how steep it actually is by looking at the people standing next to it.

Looks to me Merlin came into this as a sleeper except maybe to the other drivers who knew him for years. He's a hell of a driver.

@@just_inolredneck8319 Matt had good reasons for going gas (at least they sounded good). That is why I was hoping Merlin would make it and show him what a diesel can do in experienced hands. He has a diesel in everything including his 100mph speed boat, his golf cart, etc.

I hope they managed to find some extra food trucks and porta-potties, the crowd is well above what was expected. Matt must have a smile a mile wide, it sure paid off and I suspect we are witnessing the birth of a new motorsport.
They had plenty of food trucks and porta-potties. I never saw a line for the potties, but some of the more popular food trucks had manageable lines. They even had porta-potties on the very top of the mountain!

That diesel rig was beastly. A brute torque monster. Rory hands down is the OG. Tons of recoveries where fully outfitted rigs failed and he made up for both. They all have their scope. Extreme. (EXTREME) RORY hands down. Matt. Like a specialized AAA for rough areas and shown his capability in some extreme places. Quite deliberate and carefull. The others. Sweet rigs. It seems like they all are customized for their own little sweet spots and experts in them all. Best of all. They all work together when something they suspect is out of their wheelhouse and work together. Grest community. Also. Rory is the og🤣 clear
I loved the comradery between them as well.
